Aurora, New York, Is America’s Best Small Spa and Wellness Town of 2023

Visiting the Finger Lakes with my family for a winter vacation and this was definitely one of our favorite restaurants. Food was all delicious. Blue cheese burger was great, wife had an amazing chicken sandwich, but hands down the French onion soup was to die for. We were in the area only 4 days and we went there twice, enough said... History and atmosphere were also great.

Google
Came to this place for dinner when we visited Fingerlakes for the weekend. They have great bar food. The tater totes were delicious, especially the aioli. The pretzel was very soft. My friend and I both loved our burgers! Very reasonable price and the service was very good. They told us that they might be a little slow but it didn’t feel that slow at all. One of our friends needed his chicken sandwich in a different way and they accommodated the request very well.

Google
The food was so fresh and tasty. The service wasn’t bad. Our server wasn’t the greatest. I saw the other servers 7 times. Ours only 3 I spilled my sauce and just had to let it sit because she never came back. The atmosphere was so peaceful and nice, we sat outside.

Amber U.

Google
Awesome place in the FingerLakes! We docked our rented boat. Delicious burger. A little warm inside. Waitress charged us for items not ordered, but she quickly corrected it. Great time with us girls!

Google
We were in the area for a day trip and decided to give this place a try based on the good reviews online and it did not disappoint. The service and food both were top notch. We called for the angus burger with fries and onion rings. Loved the onion rings. Also ordered their Arnold Palmer which was fantastic. Finished off with an apple pie which was superb. Enjoyed a few dart games. Very good burgers.

Google
We were out shopping and someone recommended this place and I'm glad they did. I tried my first egg cream and wow it was off the chart good! We all shared some Street Corn Nachos and it was awesome!

Google
Flavor combinations that entice you into trying new dishes, delivered graciously to the table by the very pleasant servers and wait staff. Impressive looking and mouth watering dishes, bursts of flavor in every delicious bite. Also, Love the gluten free options too.

Google
I only ordered takeout, so I can't speak on much. The place was very busy when I walked in. I had intended on ordering take out & sitting at the bar with a drink while I waited, but there weren't any seats open. I ordered & then walked across the street to the market & then the park instead (which was nice!). I ordered a Buffalo chichen sandwich & small elote bowl. They were both delicious. The only thing that was subpar were the fries- they weren't very hot or crispy- but it was take out, so that is kinda too be expected. I ate half of each and the rest was devoured by my kids when I got home. If I was in town again, I would definitely choose Fargo.

Yelp
Loved this place! We stopped here while in town for the spa and enjoyed watching football and the delicious food. Seating upstairs and down, casual style. Our server was so nice and helpful taking time to make recommendations and talk about the dishes. As a Buffalo girl I was so pleasantly surprised and happy with the wings! Delicious.

Yelp
Today we took a trip out to visit my husband's aunt and uncle, and they suggested and wanted to bring us here for awhile to grab a bite to eat. It was a cozy restaurant, as you walk in one side with the bar and table top seating and the other side a few tables with one side booth seating. One of the waitress turned on the fireplace which made a nice and cozy. We ordered our drinks and entrees(I'll list them below), our waitress was friendly and attentive since it was my family's first time. All our drinks and entrees came out in very timely manner. My burger was cooked perfectly, I love the burger glad I chose sweet potato fries they were good. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, I saw they had a cider vinaigrette and it sounded good so I order a side salad with my meal. It was good but very sweet, wish it had a little more vinegar balance, I added just a little to my salad. If you're in the Aurora area stop in. I saw pictures they have outdoor seating/patio so that'll be nice in the summer . . . . Drinks: Blueberry Crush, unsweetened iced tea, Diet Pepsi, lemonade and water . . Entrees: Jalapeño Crunch Burger Pot Roast Poutine(regular size) Firecracker Naan(house made black bean patty) Side Salad w/ Cider Vinaigrette Kid's tender and fries (not pictured)

Yelp
Loved the vibe here, visiting on a cold winter weekend--seems like a fun bar with cool decor, ample space and seating and TVs for your sports viewing needs. We had a fun time here watching playoff football (sadly not the bills--I expect that would have been a real experience) and hanging at the bar with a few locals. Definitely enjoyed the beer selections as well--impressive draft list with some quality local options, including from the excellent local Aurora Brewery. Where they really fell down for us, unfortunately, was the food. I had a Bacon Blue cheese burger that was quite overcooked and a watery and bland chicken soup. My girlfriend got the hot turkey applejack which was ok, but she didn't feel well afterwards pretty much all night with digestive issues and what not. Not too many similar food options in the area, but unfortunately would recommend coming for the drinks but not necessarily staying for the food.

Yelp
Generally stop a time or two on my way to Owasco Lake from Rochester, NY. The back patio is cozy and delightful. My family from Virginia loves the tater tots. I haven't found anything I don't like. Especially fond of the sweet potato fries. Sadly their specialty drinks are to die for. Don't hesitate to make the Fargo a destination.
google avatar

Yelp
We LOVE the Fargo. We always stop here when we're on Cayuga! Really fresh food, amazing ambiance, we love sitting on the outdoor patio with their lovely greenery, those hydrangeas are stunning! Burger was so good, the bun is so fresh and delicious, love the little branding they put on it! The haddock special was great also! Service was great!
google avatar

Molly R.

Yelp
The food was tasty and there were gluten free accommodations. The portions were perfect for a filling lunch. Their patio is beautiful and a great place to eat outside. Our server was tentative, able to answer questions and very friendly!
google avatar

Lindsey N.

Yelp
The back patio is really cute and spacious! The food options are great for such a small town in the area, it was also wonderful that they were open a little later in the evening. Service was also good and there's a billiards table. We enjoyed our meal.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant does not disappoint. The side salad was decently sized but the real stars of lunch were the Rachel special and the smothered burger. The gravy they use was unbelievably great--thick and the right amount of saltiness. Burger was cooked perfectly and the serving of fries was large. Not one bad thing to say--great food, good service and nice atmosphere.

Lucy P.

Yelp
I go to the Fargo on a weekly basis. The food and service is always amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Cyndi H.

Yelp
The food is better than average pub fare. I had the burger as it is well known to be amazing and it did not disappoint. That char taste is perfect and so was the burger. Love the back patio area for outdoor dining. Access was a short walk up the hill from the dock, since we arrived by boat. Service was extremely friendly and efficient, and we had a wonderful lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Blue Moon should always be on tap in the summer IMO, bottled is just not the same, but they have a few options that would satisfy most tastes.
google avatar

Audra L.

Yelp
The food here is always fantastic - definitely one of the best pub-type restaurants in the area, hands down. They've got all upstate NY beer, but the cocktails are my personal fave!! Gluten-free options are great, they have such a great GF flatbread that is cut in half and used as a sandwich/wrap - not just those small slices of bread, or a wrap that breaks apart into a million pieces - A+ for that.

Yelp
Not too bad for one of the few places you can choose from in Aurora. Came with a larger group so I'm giving some grace. There's a larger side room that they must use for overflow or larger groups. We were alone in this larger room which was fine because we can be a bit louder at times, but we felt a bit forgotten about there. The food was decent, not a ton of selection, but enough to keep the majority happy. The Mac and cheese was good but was a bit bland. The tots were pretty good. The beer list was just okay. If you're really big into craft beers you may find a couple but it may be a swing and a miss. Parking is tough, especially in the summer. There's a lot of cool memorabilia local to the restaurant on the walls, so if you like quirky history, this may be your place! I'd definitely go back, I'd expect the experience to be different with a party of two and they deserve a retry!

Yelp
This place is hit or miss. I've been here about a dozen times mainly for it's proximity to where I live. It's not the quality of the food that brings me back, or the sub par service. The ambiance is your average pub. The front sign with the 3 moose is the most unique thing about this place. I guess if you have nowhere else to go the food is edible. Their saving grace was the seasonal tuna tataki dish they had last summer which was delicious but is no longer offered and the portion was very small for $18.

Yelp
Went for the nostalgia. (Didn't count on the literal flies buzzing around and constantly interrupting our meal/visit with friends.) Food was good though.

Yelp
We were lucky to be seated right away on a weeknight - it was very busy, & we saw a group get turned away the night before at the same hour. The decibels were loud, with people shooting pool & families with very lively kids. Though Yelp menu pictures from years ago showed some really great beer choices (Heady Topper from Vermont!!), the ones tonight were less exciting. The food was hit & miss: The hits: Loaded Tots! - suuuuper crunchy, melted cheese, crispy bacon chunks, green onions, w/a side of excellent ranch Black Bean Burger! - even though the order came out w/the wrong toppings, this was the best black bean burger I've ever had. Crispy deep fried edges, great texture, soft bun, ripe tomato. The misses: Seared Tuna Tacos - they looked so good, these 3 big soft tacos. But the tuna slices were freezer burned, the spicy sauce was not tasty, & the shredded veggies were underwhelming. These could be so much better. My friend liked her Peach Gobbler Melt, but didn't love it. It seems like this is the place to come to shoot some pool & have a beer & some fried things. If that's your mood, this is the place. You'll be super happy with those loaded tots!

Yelp
I visit Fargo occasionally with my parents, and the food is always good. My recent visit was exceptional--I tried the street corn tacos and the corn jalapeño soup, and both were amazing. The flavors were perfectly balanced and delicious. I would come back and eat these dishes 10 million times if I could. Highly recommend!

Yelp
For a bar & grill, I'll give it 5. Had dinner after visiting local Wineries. I had the Cuban and my wife the club. Both very happy with the sandwich (the club could use more meat). The marguerita with fin ground hot pepper on the rim is a recipe I'm going to steal as my own. BEST FRIES I've had in 10 years. Most fries are meh, I don't bother ordering them. My wife ordered them and man did I finish them. CARB WORTHY.

Yelp
Outstanding experience! We can't wait to go back! The steak we all ordered was cooked to perfection and was flavorful. The staff was so kind in helping with orchestrate the surprised for my fathers 70th birthday. Truly a beautiful spot in Aurora! We can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Christopher W.

Yelp
Had a really nice lunch here. My wife had a wrap and fries and I had buffalo chicken. All came out really well. We definitely didn't feel rushed. The food came out in around about the time we would except, but some of the other service was a bit on the slower side. Great pub ambiance and a nice place to stop on your way around the lake.

Yelp
WARNING: Do not trust the allergen labels on the menu. For example, the wings are most definitely not gluten-free even though the menu labels them as such. They are cooked in a shared fryer with gluten-containing menu items, are cross-contaminated, and not safe for anyone with Celiac disease or other gluten intolerance.

Gregg P.

Yelp
This used to be the place to go for a good meal at reasonable prices. They have drifted away from tradition, which is fine if you like 'almost' gourmet taste that's quite overpriced. My advice, go across the road to the Inn and get a great meal for nearly the same price.
google avatar

Mary Jo R.

Yelp
Fargo is the perfect spot to pop in after going on a wine tour by boat with Bianconi Tours across the street behind Aurora Inn! The host told us that they were having staffing shortages so we could wait more than an hour. We did not mind and weren't in a hurry to eat or leave town. Our server was so friendly and did his best to keep us updated on our meals. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich which was pretty good. My partner had the seared tuna tacos that he said were okay. Overall, the ambiance is cozy and the staff is very sweet. The food is average, but once again, it's a good place to stop in and grab a bite to eat if you are looking for some comfort food and a place to recharge after a wine tour.

Jim M.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch to realize how busy the local area was with a sale going on up the road. The Fargo did not fail to impress. Friendly greeting and pretty quickly seated the service and food were excellent. The team turned tables quickly to accommodate the almost nonstop traffic into the front door while we were there. The service team worked very well to take care of everyone around us. Usually I enjoy the Fargo burger or fish sandwich, but this time I chose the Carolina Chicken which was excellent. Thank you to everyone at the Fargo. We look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
I'm not sure what happened between the early summer and now, but my last experience at the Fargo was much less than pleasant. It took more than 30 minutes to get our appetizers, which consisted of pot stickers and fries. We then received our three sandwiches 20 minutes later. When we asked to get the sandwiches to go due to how long it took, our server was less than polite, and their parting Snide comments were less than appreciated. I bit into my Ruben within a few minutes of it coming out and was less than enthusiastic about the soggy bread, less so than I was about the tomato bisque that had hard curled pieces of tomato skin that was missed, two bites of the soup was all I could do, bland and watery. I feel bad about this experience, as it has always been a great place to eat. Hopefully it is not the new norm, and I can add a few stars when I inevitably stop in again in the future.

Yelp
Have been many, many times with great food and customer service. Not tonight, appetizer cold, Parmesan not melted for spinach artichoke dip which manager says "it's not normally melted." That's strange. Needless to say sent back 3 times to even be warm enough to eat! Fast forward to dinner .... Ordered a chicken sandwich NOT a tender sandwich. Mac and cheese ordered ... COLD. ALSO ordered a haddock dinner .... Who breaks the haddock off to fit on plate ? Never had in 35 years of my life. Ever. Send Mac and cheese back to be warmed. NEVER COMES BACK. Asked to speak to manager.... Advised sent food to be boxed. Says waitress is "too busy to come back." Pay bill......still waiting for food I paid for to be boxed and the mystery Mac and cheese ? What has happened to this world and customer service? Used to be a favorite ... sad to see local restaurants go to the curbside.

Yelp
I'm glad we stopped here. Was a little skeptical when we found out it was attached to the hotels, but it was worth the risk. Really neat atmosphere and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Seeing wings on the menu and being from buffalo we had to see if they measured up. They were incredible. Crispy but still juicy with a really good sauce (it was close to buffalo sauce, but more peppery). We also got the famous Fargo burger and the prime rib specia. The prime rib had incredible flavor and the burger with hand cut fries were out of this world. Neat selection of a couple of local beers to try too. Really good food and a cool place. Also they were incredibly Covid friendly. Felt very safe choosing to eat in.

Yelp
Good as it can be. Menu mix for all tastes. Weight loss optional and not likely, it's that damn good.

Autumn H.

Yelp
Excellent, friendly service. Food was inventive and tasty, as were the drinks. Try the Tots! Had a great neighborhood feel. Very welcoming to families, too!
google avatar

Yelp
My friends and I were in from out of town and looking for a place open on a Sunday night. This was one of the few. We ordered the fry flight, wings, nachos, and southwestern salad. The menu was priced like a standard upscale-bar rate so we were expecting quality to match. The fries were soggy, wings were dry, and nachos tasted like they were topped with chili instead of pulled pork. We were sorely disappointed. I hate to leave a bad review on a place I've only tried once, but I don't think it was worth the price.

Jean M.

Yelp
Excellent management and service. The loaded tots and local craft beers make for a nice lunch! Love this place and visit often.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here during covid, and hey were very clean and all masks, etc. definitely recommend this place. Straight across street from the most gorgeous INN with scenic views. Wow Great outdoor seating out back, kids menu, yummy chix and fries I had a Caesar wrap with fries SO SO GOOD and Hubby had a buff chix sand also yummy Definitely will be back and may stay at INN across street so nice
google avatar

Anita Y.

Yelp
WOW!!! Not sure what was the best.... great food, awesome music or outdoor patio with perfect weather. It was all awesome! Staff was great too. Don't miss this place when you are in the area. FYI - they have a boat dock.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I are currently visiting the inns of Aurora. We visited Fargo bar & grill twice; once on Monday April 10th, the other visit Tuesday April 11th. The Monday visit was great! Busy environment, friendly service with great food. Tuesday, however, was not as great. My girlfriend and I were seated at 8 by the same friendly bartender we had on Monday. There were only about one or two other parties in the restaurant. We sat and waited for the waitress, but she did not arrive; rather, she was cleaning tables around us, serving other patrons that came in and generally ignoring my girlfriend and I. After 15 minutes, I asked if we could be served and she seemed caught off guard, and took our orders. At that point, we asked for the meals to go. The friendly bartender came back and gave us our food, apologized and made the night right. She is amazing, and I truly appreciate her and the service that she provides! The food again, was very good, but the server somewhat left a bad taste in our mouth.

Yelp
This is a great little joint! My wife and I had a date night and decided to brewery hop on the way up to Fargo, unfortunately the brewery hopping took a bit longer than expected, but the service at Fargo completely made up for our poor judgement in time. From the time we were seated we the service was fantastic. We received our drinks and food very quickly and everything tasted fantastic. It is the normal pub fare, but the burgers here are very good. They had a great beer selection from around the area as well. I will definitely be back here and hopefully will have some more time to enjoy the ambiance of the pub!

Justin S.

Yelp
This place has given up trying to be a profitable restaurant. Can't even go a grab beer on thanksgiving eve with my mates. Pretty sad. This place is a shell of what it used be. Let it go under

Scotti P.

Yelp
The fried haddock sandwich was a large portion size and perfectly cooked. It came with coleslaw and a side. The sweet potatoes fries were hot and crispy. They also have an outdoor area with plenty of tables, seating and umbrellas. Dog friendly.

Yelp
This has been our go to summer spot for lunch take out. This weekend we had the pleasure of dining indoors. I am obsessed with the Southwest Chicken salad - this weekend we also ordered a few soups (French onion... yum! and my sister in law got the Beef Lentil and loved it!) Everything always tastes fresh and we've loved taking the boat and docking and walking over! Thanks for the great service and food during this crazy summer of COVID!

Liz O.

Yelp
Service was ok. Ordered the chicken Caesar wrap and it had more croutons in it than chicken. My sister ordered the soup of the day and it was really salty. Waitress was nice. She took the soup off the bill. Atmosphere wasn't great. They could stand to have some booths and make it a bit cozier. Food was fresh, I just think the salt thing was a goof that probably doesn't happen all the time.

Bill S.

Yelp
Stopped in on an apparently busy Friday night. They actually ran out of pint glasses for draft beer. Served me my eight dollar microbrew beer in a plastic cup. Whatever. Other than that, food and service was good.
google avatar

Sam E.

Yelp
Great pub food! Ordered takeout during covid and everything was still hot and fresh. I had the turkey club with tater tots and I would order again just for the tots! The turkey club was delicious and on a nice piece of wheat bread, perfect ratio of turkey, bacon, mayo, tomato and lettuce. The food was exactly what I was looking for. I cannot wait to order again and try their other items!

Unni P.

Yelp
One of a few restaurants in this area. It was walkable from our stay at the inn. We didn't have to make reservations and were seated pretty quickly to the back for outdoor dining. Our waiter was very friendly and recommended some good food and drinks. I had the BLT and sweet potato fries. It really hit the spot after our drive.

Dustin L.

Yelp
First time at Fargo Bar & Grill. Service was very attentive and courteous. Had the Fargo Burger and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the Fargo Frys were perfect with the Malt aioli to dip in. Our favorite part was the Moose logo seared in the rolls and the moose's around the restaurant. Will definitely be back .
google avatar

Brenda M.

Yelp
Good sandwiches- burgers, pulled pork, chicken. All very delicious with a side of Fargo fries or sweet potato fries. Yum yum! Great with a beer or root beer in my case :D Enjoyed this casual dinner. I did however, wish they had more selection for food. They did have daily dinner specials of plates- steak, fish, etc. The pizza garage next door was added to the space. And they have a back patio for dining during nice weather. Nice local joint!
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
Stayed across the street at the charming Aurora Inn, and we enjoyed visiting this nicely restored village pub. The place was always packed with locals of all ages, as well as students from Wells College, plus, a few tourists like us, a nice mix. Their burgers, fries, and onion rings were nicely homemade. My partner and I enjoyed ordering local craft beers, as well as wines from Finger Lakes, all nicely priced. Bar staff were friendly - they new we were tourists - so, they worked a little harder to make us feel at home, and we appreciated this gesture very much. Can't go wrong dining and/or drinking here.
google avatar

Yelp
A group of us went here for dinner on Saturday night. We were staying in Aurora for a bachelorette weekend. As far as restaurants went we didn't see many choice besides the Fargo Bar and the Inn across the street. The Inn seemed a little fancy and we wanted a quick bite as we were going on a boat tour a little later. The theme of this bar is Adirondack with their mascot being a moose. There is both inside and outdoor seating, we sat indoors since it had been raining on and off that day. The menu only really includes some classic bar appetizers such as mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers and then salads, sandwiches and burgers for entrees. None of us ordered an appetizer. For dinner I ordered a chicken salad wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. It was yummy. The wrap had red onions, cranberries, lettuce tomato and a nice mayo sauce all mixed with giant chunks of chicken breast. They accidentally gave me regular fries, but the waitress was really great about it and quickly brought me out a giant basket of sweet potato fries and I wasn't charged for the regular fries. I had a large box worth of both fries. Both fries were really delicious. I believe they may both be hand cut but I'm not sure. My sister had the shrimp po boy and she had no leftovers to take home because she scarfed the entire thing down. She said it was delicious. The rest of the party had either a burger or a buffalo chicken sandwich which had two chicken tenders on a bun with lettuce and tomato. The really neat thing is the moose emblem they brand into the tops of the buns. Made me a little jealous I hadn't ordered a burger just to have the branded bun. Overall, the place was very good and the service was good. No reason to complain since I got out of there for less than $15. I can only give it a four because while I enjoyed the meal I have been a lot of places over the last month by comparison it was just a four star meal to me! Good for what it was, but nothing too exciting.

Yelp
Love the place ! Good service w/ friendly staff. Looking forward to a Friday fish fry last night, 6:45 pm. 2/16/18. Already out of fish & chowder specials again, same as issue last year. Waiters are put in a bad spot, again. Please buy more fresh fish.
google avatar

Jennica S.

Yelp
This was a good stop upon getting to the Finger Lakes and checking into the Aurora Inn on a dreary day. My husband and I shared the crock of French onion soup, which was delicious. He then had a burger (love the touch of the stamped bun) and onion rings and I had the chicken Caesar wrap and fries. Everything was well prepared and fresh. Typical bar atmosphere, super convenient right across from the inn.

Yelp
Nice place. Locals a-plenty. We had the turkey Ruben and beets. Great place for a beer and sandwich. See John at the bar. He will tell you stories, so you better make up some of your own.
