Farm Tours of Ocala – Tour Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"What’s the big picture here? Ocala is home to one of just four major Thoroughbred breeding centers in the world, and stars like American Pharaoh, winner of the 2015 Triple Crown, have grazed on its pastures. Get an inside glimpse of that and more on Farm Tours of Ocala, where true horse people take you on half-hour visits to three of Ocala’s most revered stables. Groups are small and cater to everyone from professional horsemen to city slickers who's experience with horses is limited to attending Kentucky Derby parties.. What kind of information will we pick up on this tour? You’ll learn interesting facts about Florida’s horse industry—it’s big business—and get up-close and personal with a few four-legged friends. Anything else should we know in advance? The tour involves a lot of standing and walking on uneven terrain, so it’s not suitable for visitors with mobility challenges. Also, despite the appeal of horses, kids won’t fully enjoy the tour—it’s educational in nature." - Laura Ratliff

Highly recommend this tour. Very educational and fun! Spring is a great time to see ponies! The highlights were seeing the morning galloping on a track and getting up close with Arabians and giving them treats. Owner Karen was super nice and helped me with scheduling and our guide Ashley was very good and knowledgeable.

Had such a great time on this tour! Karen is exceedingly knowledgeable about the history of all the horse farms, the horses and the history of "The Horse Capital of the WORLD!" We went to 3 farms, petted and fed many horses, learned a lot about the horse business. Horses are one of God's most beautiful creatures and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this tour! Would HIGHLY recommend!

This was a fantastic tour! The tour guide was warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made the tour interesting and fun with many facts about the horses, horse farms, and even the history of the city of Ocala itself. It was a nice blend of viewing farms from the van and of actually walking on the farms themselves. Interacting with and feeding the horses were highlights of the trip. Getting to see the landscapes was breathtaking. I would highly recommend doing this tour; it was worth every penny and then some.

I would recommend Farm Tours of Ocala to anyone visiting horse country. Whether you are experienced with horses or not, you will get a wonderful experience with Karen. She is knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated to sharing her passion for horses. I also think is a great deal, the value of her tours is wonderful both in price and the appreciation you walk away with, of this wonderful world. I have come back twice and would recommend to anyone wanting to explore this part of the country. Thanks Karen!

My wife and I participated in the farm tour and we could not be more pleased with the experience. Karen provided an excellent history of the horse culture in Ocala which was enhanced by a tour of some of the best equestrian farms I've ever seen. We enjoyed very close proximity to amazing horses and the tour provided close access to spectacular horses being raised and housed on these farms. We were also able to tour a breeding barn where some of the finest bloodlines of thoroughbred horse stock were actively engaged in the propagation of these bloodlines. To be in such close contact with these animals was awe inspiring. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants the equestrian experience of a life time.

Went on our tour on Thursday, April 27 with Marie as our guide. Visited the World Equestrian Center, The Ocala Breeding Sales, drove through farm land, stopping at an Arabian Farm. Marie was very knowledgeable about the Horse Industry in Ocala, and horses in general. It was a pleasant day! I gave it 4 stars because the van was quite full, our spouses were in the back row and could not hear a thing Marie said over the air conditioning blowing! They missed a lot of what made the tour so special, gaining information about the different aspects of the Horse Industry as we drove from one destination to another!

We had a great time and I highly recommend the tour for any horse lover particularly if they are unfamiliar with the Ocala area. There were So many beautiful and serene farms to see. I enjoyed seeing the various farms and being close to so many beautiful animals. It helps you appreciate how much hard work and passion is needed to care for and train these magnificent animals. I learned a lot and found corrections to horse facts I THOUGHT I KNEW. Thank you for a wonderful morning Karen. The Scredons
