The Coolest Design-Forward Shipping Container Hotels Around the World - AFAR

"Farm Ville Café and Homestay is surrounded by the verdant Sekinchan paddy fields and often see awesome sunsets. The snug rooms are minimal, with wood paneling or faux grass walls, and feature attached bathrooms. There are bikes available on the property to rent, so guests can go green while exploring the local temples, orchards, and wharf. Outside the container rooms, white-and-green-checkered floors lead to a pool, rooftop trampoline, and putting green." - Mandy Ellis

I had the pleasure of staying at **Farm Ville Hotel**, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. Nestled in a picturesque countryside setting, this hotel offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere that makes it feel like a true home away from home. Upon arrival, the warm and welcoming staff made a lasting impression, greeting us with a smile and offering to assist with our luggage. The check-in process was quick and efficient, and we were soon on our way to our room, which was beautifully decorated with rustic yet modern touches that reflected the hotel's unique blend of comfort and character. Our room was spacious, spotless, and incredibly inviting. The bed was luxurious with soft linens and plush pillows, making it hard to leave each morning. The room also featured a cozy seating area, a desk, and large windows that allowed natural light to flood the space, providing stunning views of the hotel's expansive gardens and nearby rolling hills. The bathroom was pristine, with high-quality toiletries and plenty of towels to ensure a relaxing stay. One of the highlights of Farm Ville Hotel is its focus on local, organic produce. The on-site restaurant offered a variety of delicious farm-to-table dishes that were both healthy and flavorful. The breakfast buffet, with freshly baked bread, seasonal fruits, and made-to-order eggs, was a perfect start to each day. We also enjoyed a lovely dinner on the terrace, where we could savor the fresh air and scenic surroundings. The hotel’s amenities were excellent. There’s a lovely outdoor pool area that feels like a tranquil oasis, ideal for relaxing after a day of exploration. The on-site farm is an added bonus, offering a chance to learn more about sustainable farming practices or take a leisurely stroll through the herb and vegetable gardens. For those looking to be a bit more active, there are biking and hiking trails nearby that offer stunning views of the countryside. Service was consistently exceptional throughout our stay. The staff were attentive, professional, and genuinely eager to ensure that every need was met. Whether it was a request for extra pillows or recommendations for local activities, they were always happy to help. In summary, **Farm Ville Hotel** is a hidden gem that offers the perfect mix of relaxation, charm, and natural beauty. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or an adventurous getaway, this hotel provides the ideal setting. I can't wait for my next visit and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a cozy, country escape.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Farm Ville Cafe and Homestay, and it truly exceeded all my expectations in every way. Located in a serene countryside setting, this hidden gem offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by lush greenery and scenic farmland, the homestay creates an atmosphere of peace and tranquility that immediately puts you at ease. The rooms are spacious, cozy, and meticulously clean, equipped with all the comforts one could ask for, including air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and well-appointed bathrooms. The natural light that floods the rooms and the private balconies offering breathtaking views of the farmland only add to the sense of serenity. The highlight of my stay, however, was the on-site Farm Ville Cafe, where every meal was a celebration of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The food was not only delicious but thoughtfully prepared, with each dish showcasing the flavors of the region in a way that made every meal feel special. Whether enjoying a hearty breakfast or a relaxed dinner, dining at the cafe felt like an experience in itself, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. What truly set this homestay apart, though, was the hospitality. The owners and staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a memorable stay, offering local recommendations, helping with any requests, and making me feel more like a guest in their home than a customer. For those interested in exploring, there are plenty of activities to enjoy, from farm tours to nature walks, but the peaceful surroundings make it just as easy to relax and recharge with a book or by simply soaking in the beautiful views. In every aspect, Farm Ville Cafe and Homestay provided a perfect balance of comfort, warmth, and charm, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, rejuvenating getaway. It's a place I can’t wait to return to.

I stayed only one night with my family. The room is spacious and the beds are large but the walking area to another bed is too narrow. There is a kiblat direction at the ceiling showing the non-muslim owner is concerned about muslim needs. The pool is quite small and shallow so it is suitable for kids.

This is definitely NOT a 4 star hotel, maybe a 2 stars. You will be staying in containers and you will need to turn on AC at all times or it will be super hot inside the containers. The upstairs room with paddy field is falsely advertised. Your view is blocked by a container in front of you and it costs RM248 a night on a Saturday. It's not worth the price at all. There are other nicer and newer places in town and less pricey. The bathroom is small with limited space for your toiletries. The quality of the towels is bad. There is no light in front of the dresser causing inconvenience to us. There are some flies in the room as well. This place is not well maintained. Will not recommend.

First time staying in a container room. Reception is bad and the temperature fluctuates depending on weather. Wifi and ample air conditioning helps a bit. Small toilet space to be expected. Stubbed my toe due to small walking space near the bed. Price is okay. The location is top notch.

-can park in front of the cottage (safe & easier). -My room & toilet are clean, beds were clean as well. -It has water heater & the water preassure is superb & refreshing. -I actually appreciate the small details such as netting at the toilet & at the door. So no issues on cockroaches/mosquitoes /unwanted bugs 🤣 -Towels are provided. -Pools are good. -A/C unit working silently & superb as well. Cons: -No TV (i guess we have our mobilephones/tablet now, not much issues on this) - Some Common facilities are worn out, like the archery area. Others are ok. I enjoyed my stay & will always be my first choice.

Yelp
During Depavali weekend, me and my family went to Sekinchan for a holiday trip. We were impress by the serenity and spectacular view offered by Sekinchan. It was a relaxing and well deserved trip for me and my family before going back to our busy work schedule. At the end of our trip, we were tired and came across this cafe by the name of : Farm Ville Cafe & Homestay Lot 11304 Jalan Ban Sawah | Kampung Site B Tambahan, Sekinchan 45400, Malaysia 017-206 8666 As you can see from attached pictures, we first ordered 6 cups of espresso while we read through the menu for food. When the espresso arrived, it was room temperature, not hot. there weren't any sugar or spoon. We requested them from the waitress, and it was brought to us with attitude. When we start stirring our espresso, we noticed it was "air longkang" (please click for picture below). It was as if it was brew the third time. Even prison coffee is better than this. Since we din't want to cause too much trouble, we decided to just finish our coffee and not order any food. We ask the waitress for some milk wishing it can help improve the "air longkang" When the waitress went and ask the manager for some milk, she told us they have ran out of milk when we can clearly see there are cartons of milk in their fridge. Upon our insist, the waitress brought us a tiny class of condense milk (See picture beside the coffee) Who puts condense milk to espresso ?!?! This proves how good a coffee shop they are. The whole episode was extremely disappointing. The service was very bad and rude. We originally plan to relax and recharge with a good meal, but this business totally ruin our trip. We were proud of what Sekinchan had to offer for our tourism, but Farm Ville Cafe & Homestay has completely destroy our sweet memory. We hope nobody has to experience what we have experience. Please preserve Sekinchan's reputation.
