A poor experience from start to finish unfortunately. We met here as it is half way between us and a friends house and when we’ve been before, albeit a while ago, it was nice.
The time, I reserved a dog friendly table but when we arrived, we had to wait at the host desk for nearly 5 minutes to be seen. No table had actually been reserved for us and we were told to choose our own table. Most tables left were high bar stalls, but having two children and two dogs these were not appropriate. We chose a table, but it had not been cleared from the previous party. We were also not given menus by the host, so once sat, we had to source menus.
We ordered at the bar, informing the staff that one member of the party is celiac and specified which meals needed to be gluten free. Despite this, when the ‘gluten free’ Camembert arrived, we had been served the standard version. I took this back to the kitchen and was told this was not in fact gluten free and a new one would be made in 2 minutes. 2 minutes later, staff came over to tell us that there was in fact no gluten free Camembert in stock. I requested a refund, but by this point, one member of our party had a starter and the rest of us went without.
The mains the seemed to take a while to come out. The gluten free bacon chop and the ultimate burger were satisfactory. The lamb rump duo however, was not worth the cost, I feel, given that it was one of the most expensive meals on the menu but the plate was filled with 2/3 potato, a small amount of veg and two 2inch slices of meat. Throughout the meal, no staff came to do a check on the table to ask how the meal was either. We decided to skip dessert and left.
