Farris Bad is a luxury spa with a beautiful view of Skagerrak. On a good day, it feels like a great place to relax and enjoy a high-end experience—at a high price. However, after multiple visits, I've noticed some downsides that make me hesitant to recommend the full experience.
On two separate occasions, either I or a companion left with a streptococcal infection. While this could be coincidental, it does raise concerns about hygiene standards. The restaurant food is another letdown; it's overpriced, dry, and often overly salted. Despite paying a premium, the quality simply doesn’t match up.
The spa itself is the highlight, offering a range of saunas, pools, and unique experiences. It’s genuinely relaxing and well-designed. However, I’d suggest only booking the spa services and staying elsewhere, as the rooms feel small and uncomfortable. The experience becomes especially frustrating during peak times like Christmas when the hotel restricts access to the spa and, last year, even experienced a lengthy water shutdown. Many guests couldn’t shower or use basic amenities, yet refunds or adjustments were hardly offered.
Overall, while Farris Bad has potential, it’s overhyped and overpriced. I might have been unlucky, but the way my concerns were handled last time leaves me unsure if I’d give it another try.
