A Hidden Gem in Southern Crete A magical location, nestled within an olive grove and overlooking a quiet, crystal-clear beach with sand dunes. On one side, you see the Southern Cretan Sea, while on the other, the imposing White Mountains stand tall—an awe-inspiring landscape. The rooms are spotless and peaceful, perfect for relaxation. All you hear is the sound of crickets and the waves. A place that is truly balm for the soul.

We had a perfect stay here! Wonderful location, beautiful garden, comfortable room, lovely hosts, next to an amazing beach - everything was so good. The whole place is really well taken care of, quiet, calm, and free of crowds. Nice food at the taverna, too. It was just what we needed. To the hosts: thank you for your hospitality! We really wish we could have stayed for much longer. We will be back for sure! 🩵

Fata Morgana is an excellent family resort, being in the center of an olive tree grove. Rooms are spacious and feature all comforts. The beach is just a couple of minutes walking distance away, and even in mid August it's not crowded at all. George and his 2 sisters are doing an excellent job, are always open for talking and suggestions, and take care of even the slightest problem. All 3 of them made our stay unique, we already miss them and will definitely come back.

We stayed here for two weeks. The location is excellent, right above Orthi Ammos beach and in the centre of an olive grove. Our reception was warm and friendly and we had no issues whatever during our stay.||The apartment was very clean and everything worked properly including the air conditioning, ceiling fan, Wi-Fi and TV. There was plenty of hot water and the shower pressure was good. The large bed was comfortable and sleep quality was high; we slept with the patio doors open every night. There are good fly screens on every window: we had no issues with mosquitos. ||There was adequate tableware and enough kitchen equipment to prepare simple meals - we made breakfast and lunch ourselves and had dinner out most days. Basically, an excellent self-catering apartment.||There is a useful supermarket about 1 km away which, though tiny, carries all the stock we could possibly have needed.||Fata Morgana loans sun umbrellas and beach towels which was very helpful. Take some string to tie the umbrellas to stones if the wind is strong.||Our apartment was on the ground floor and had a small balcony with table and chairs. It felt very private. The rooms have all been recently refurbished and upgraded; the design of our room was very good, with lots of matching curtains and sunblinds.||A car is essential here. The route through the mountains from Chania is not as difficult as it would appear from a map.||The beach is sandy and shelves very gently so swimming, or playing in the water, felt very safe. Access is via a sand dune that becomes really hot, so bring suitable footwear. However, when the strong meltemi or etesian wind blows the beach can be uncomfortable - as with all Greek islands in the Aegean.||We definitely recommend Fata Morgana.||||

A beautiful place to be !!! Its our third stay there and every year the rooms and the hospitality are getting only better

This place is amazing if you are looking for a calm family vacation near the sea. We stayed in double room apartment for almost three weeks and were very satisfied. This place has all the pros and no cons :) - Nice clean rooms, with comfy beds, balcony, AC, own shower and WC, kitchen corner, furnace, fridge, and basically everything you need. - There is a washing machine in the area available for you any day charge free. - Rooms were cleaned, towels and bed sheets changed every 3 days. - We traveled with a small kid, and they provided us with a kids chair and bed at our request free of charge. There is also a kids playground in the area, which is great if your travel with kids. - Location is great, beautiful beach and the sea in a walking distance (3-4 minutes on foot). - There is also a great greek tavern on the cliff near the beach (Akti), basically at your doorstep, with amazing food and great people (best in the area, trust me). - Bakery, small supermarket with all the necessities are in the close proximity (1 km), easily reachable on bikes that you can borrow any time you want, again, free of charge. - You can also borrow sun umbrella, when we arrived they run out of them and Eleni kindly provided us with a portable tent that turned out to be even better option in windy days. - Transfer from/to Chania or Heraklion is also available for a reasonable price. - And of course, people that run this place. Big thank you to Eleni and her family for everything. Super friendly and helpful. They helped us with everything we dared to ask :) One day, when wind took away our kid's inflatable ring, they kindly gifted us with a new one, i honestly didn't expect such kindnes. We also got a gift of a few local products at our arrival and departure, which was very nice gesture, that we appreciated. All in all, this is the place im looking forward to come back, hopefully soon :)
