Food was amazing, staff was friendly and spoke English, and the views were incredible. We went to Monkey Farm for a morning horseback riding adventure and decided to eat lunch at Father Rooster. We arrived about 20 minutes before they opened but the staff were great and let us have a seat and checkout menus. The views were phenomenal and we could have stayed all day. The wildlife also added to the appeal for us and we would definitely recommend stopping here if you are in the area. We were disappointed that we didn't have time to make it back over for a second meal on our vacation.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant since the day we arrived in Ocotal, and it has quickly become our favorite spot. The food is simply outstanding — every dish we’ve tried has been fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Their ribs are out of this world — tender, juicy, and packed with flavor — and the taco pescado is straight from heaven, with perfectly cooked fish and fresh toppings that make every bite unforgettable. From colorful, vibrant tacos and hearty wraps to perfectly grilled corn and crispy fries, everything bursts with flavor. And let’s not forget the drinks — their fresh juices and cocktails are works of art, as refreshing as they are gorgeous. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, surrounded by lush greenery during the day and twinkling lights in the evening. It’s the perfect mix of beachy charm and welcoming comfort. But what truly makes this place special is the staff. They greet you with genuine warmth and treat you as if you’ve been friends for years. Every visit feels personal, and you can tell they take real pride in making sure you enjoy your time there. If you’re in Ocotal, don’t miss this gem. Come hungry, bring your camera (you’ll want to take photos of the food!), and prepare to leave with a happy heart and a big smile.

Majestic setting and a phenomenal staff. The food is delicious and drinks are crisp cold and Ahhhhhh delicious. However there are wild birds and large iguanas and stray dogs wondering about the grounds. There's a written warning on the bottom of the menu. DO NOT FEED the animals. Beautiful scenery of the beach.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Waitstaff knew English, which I would never expect in a primarily Spanish speaking country, but it was super helpful. Huge menu, my nephews had a hard time picking what they wanted. I chose the special (whole snapper) with a Ceviche Bar added on... was not able to finish the meal, but it was so amazing. The ceviche bar allows you to customize how you would like your ceviche made. I love spicy foods, so I had them focus on Octopus and Habanero. It was absolutely AMAZING!!! Instead of the typical corn chips for dipping in the ceviche, they served plaintain crisps, which is a nice twist. Parking can be iffy... we parked along the street before getting to the building. I would suggest at least driving up and seeing the situation, because while there isn't a lot of parking, there is some strategic parking along the beach which could net a closer walk. And the view?? OMG TO DIE FOR!!!! we planned it just before sunset for my father's birthday. They have beach access, you can walk out to the beach and take pictures etc.

Best restaurant in Playa Del Coco, hands down. Music was a great touch. Food was enjoyed by everyone at our table. The setting is beautiful.

Father Rooster has been a staple in the area for years, and it never disappoints. The food is incredible with generous portions, the beachfront setting is unbeatable, and the service is always excellent. With great cleanliness, ample parking, and a relaxing atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for any occasion. Highly recommend!

We were expecting another mediocre meal at a tourist trap location, but boy were we wrong. Location is beautiful, the facilities are clean, the staff is super friendly, and the food was great. We had shrimp tacos and ribs. 10 out of 10 would recommend and absolutely wish we could go back.

We stopped here for lunch. The place is very cute and nice outdoor setting near the beach. We initially sat outside underneath their nice tree on the sand but some bird poop landed on our menu so we decided to sit inside to prevent any droppings in our food lol. The waiters did take a while to get back to us to get our order, check in to see if we needed anything, and with checking out. We had to approach to get their attention. The food was good and tasteful. We ordered the Coconut Shrimp with a side of Cliantro Rice (this was DELICIOUS ) and black beans. We also ordered Patacones that came with sides of guacamole, pico de gallo, and black beans; we requested grilled chicken to have with this as well (the chicken was so tender and juicy). We also ordered Ceviche which was also good! We would eat here again.
