Father Rooster's

Food was amazing, staff was friendly and spoke English, and the views were incredible. We went to Monkey Farm for a morning horseback riding adventure and decided to eat lunch at Father Rooster. We arrived about 20 minutes before they opened but the staff were great and let us have a seat and checkout menus. The views were phenomenal and we could have stayed all day. The wildlife also added to the appeal for us and we would definitely recommend stopping here if you are in the area. We were disappointed that we didn't have time to make it back over for a second meal on our vacation.

We enjoyed this restaurant with the beach. View and amazing setup with live music. The service is amazing. The food is amazing and cocktails are incredibly good.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant since the day we arrived in Ocotal, and it has quickly become our favorite spot. The food is simply outstanding — every dish we’ve tried has been fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Their ribs are out of this world — tender, juicy, and packed with flavor — and the taco pescado is straight from heaven, with perfectly cooked fish and fresh toppings that make every bite unforgettable. From colorful, vibrant tacos and hearty wraps to perfectly grilled corn and crispy fries, everything bursts with flavor. And let’s not forget the drinks — their fresh juices and cocktails are works of art, as refreshing as they are gorgeous. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, surrounded by lush greenery during the day and twinkling lights in the evening. It’s the perfect mix of beachy charm and welcoming comfort. But what truly makes this place special is the staff. They greet you with genuine warmth and treat you as if you’ve been friends for years. Every visit feels personal, and you can tell they take real pride in making sure you enjoy your time there. If you’re in Ocotal, don’t miss this gem. Come hungry, bring your camera (you’ll want to take photos of the food!), and prepare to leave with a happy heart and a big smile.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Waitstaff knew English, which I would never expect in a primarily Spanish speaking country, but it was super helpful. Huge menu, my nephews had a hard time picking what they wanted. I chose the special (whole snapper) with a Ceviche Bar added on... was not able to finish the meal, but it was so amazing. The ceviche bar allows you to customize how you would like your ceviche made. I love spicy foods, so I had them focus on Octopus and Habanero. It was absolutely AMAZING!!! Instead of the typical corn chips for dipping in the ceviche, they served plaintain crisps, which is a nice twist. Parking can be iffy... we parked along the street before getting to the building. I would suggest at least driving up and seeing the situation, because while there isn't a lot of parking, there is some strategic parking along the beach which could net a closer walk. And the view?? OMG TO DIE FOR!!!! we planned it just before sunset for my father's birthday. They have beach access, you can walk out to the beach and take pictures etc.

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of that relaxed Costa Rican charm. The food was outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried exceeded our expectations. What truly set this visit apart was the service. Our waiters, Bernal, Kevin, and Moises went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They were attentive, friendly, and made us feel like family. Their energy and professionalism added so much to the overall experience. Father Rooster’s is the perfect combination of delicious food, a stunning setting right on the beach, and top-notch service. Easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Costa Rica. Highly recommended!

Majestic setting and a phenomenal staff. The food is delicious and drinks are crisp cold and Ahhhhhh delicious. However there are wild birds and large iguanas and stray dogs wondering about the grounds. There's a written warning on the bottom of the menu. DO NOT FEED the animals. Beautiful scenery of the beach.

Run, don't walk for the Braised Beef! Wow! The setting, ambiance, menu options, and vibe are great. The Braised Beef was magical. Have never had a bad meal here. Always a highlight of trip. Even saw the whales breach out in the distance! Pretty spectacular place.

Absolute favorite restaurant in CR! The food is fresh, flavorful, and presented beautifully. The cocktails are gorgeous and hit the spot. The gem in their crown is the service though. Moises and his teammates Edwin and Fernando are awesome! All so kind and attentive down to the smallest details. The environment is everything you could hope for. Both for lunch when at the beach or a great dinner with friends. Go, you won’t be let down.
