I came here six years ago. It's changed. Something is missing, I'm not sure what, in this guest house. Perhaps a lack of warmth from the staff? They are friendly, but they just do their job behind the counter; they don't make you want to go and see them. But they "improve" the rules of the GH. Now all( trails, motorbike rents, laundry, deposit...) is on documents you can photograph.
There's something i feel a bit ridiculous about the rules: you have to take your shoes off when you go inside. Why not but it's a special welcome when you arrive with your luggage to check in at reception. But again why not. Probably it's out of respect for the place (like in a temple) or for the sake of cleanliness. But there is a worst part between the main house and the pseudo kitchen where you can make yourself a cup of coffee. It's only 5 meters between the two places, but you have to go outside. So you have to put your shoes on when you leave the house, walk 5 metres with them on, then take them off again to enter the kitchen... not many people want to go through this process of taking them off, putting them on, taking them off again... so many people stay barefoot, some go with shoes in the kitchen which is probably not the best for cleanliness... It's not a big issue, i know but in short, i felt some rules in this guest house are a bit silly and rigid.
