Father’s Study

Maybe one of my favorite cocktail bars by aesthetic, Father’s Study is true to its name. We sat at a poker table in a room that felt like an old time movie, and for that reason alone, I will be coming back again and again. ALSO, all of their liquors are New York based, which I find appealing, especially considering how positively the staff talked about the distilleries and wineries that they sourced from.

Father's Study is, in my opinion, not getting the recognition that it deserves.If you need a place that delivers on drinks, vibe and price then this is IT. We came to & SON/ Father's Study after my husband and I eloped to the clerks office. We wanted a place that felt sophisticated and chic where we can just have a good time. Once we got upstairs to the speakeasy it was just us and Ben the bartender. We went with our sibling (5 of us total) and we had a ball of a time up there. Ben had us smiling and laughing while whipping up some of the most amazing drinks. We thank the & Son/ Father's Study family for playing such a huge part of our special day! It would not have been as magical and stress-free without them! We can't wait to come back!

We had a wonderful time visiting a speakeasy recently. My review is only for the cocktail experience, as we went there after dinner. We made a reservation on Resy and were escorted by the host of the steakhouse to a table upstairs. The speakeasy concept was spot on, with a very cool menu. We chose to sit in the library section, next to the bar, for a more intimate experience. We arrived just before the service was winding down, but the bartender/server was very attentive.

Really cool interiors, great vibe, and the drinks were good too. Their menu is hidden in a book to give that speakeasy vibe. This is a small cozy place, and the only thing I did not like is it’s open on the dining hall area, so you do hear some chatter

I am so sad that they closed. This used to be a great place to get an evening drink. You didn’t have to yell to have a conversation, the vibe was quiet and intimate. I went a few weeks ago and they’ve just turned it into additional dining space for the steakhouse. What once was a noteworthy piece of speakeasy history has been gutted for a few extra dinner service seats. I don’t have the heart to give it one star but seeing what it has become warrants the rating.

Didn’t know anything about this part of the space. Was asked if we would like to go upstairs to Fathers Study by our server after we finished our dinner and it is the coolest “speakeasy” bar I’ve been to! Service was great and cocktails rivals any of the “best cocktail bars in NYC”. Will be back often, even when not having dinner downstairs!

Atmosphere and service are top notch - beyond expectations. The food is ok. Steaks not optimal. Wine list is quite limited. I would be happy to consult to help you improve this because you have such a great space and staff already. It lacks that final touch of class that comes with excellent food and wine. If you change this, let me know, I would gladly host more events in your space!

Cute speakeasy. Awful food. Awful drinks. Pretty good service except that the server pushed back a bit in replacing a drink that tasted so bad, I had to spit it out (and I’m not particular about cocktails). She switched it out in the end but maybe ratios of every drink of the evening were off because so many were just undrinkable. I’m surprised at all the reviews saying the drinks were good, I tried my friends so I tried over 6 drinks and none of them were good - maybe it was just the bartender that night. Potato wedges took over an hour to get to our table, 1 yukon potato for $9. Great vibes though, and beautiful decor!
