The Swiss Wine Vacation We All Need to Take

"Instead of staying at a grand hotel, better to opt for an agriturismo that lets you stay on a vineyard like Amorosa."

The whole staff were extremely kind and professional, the room was clean, the views are unbelievably beautiful and the food was some of the best we've ever had. It is certainly not cheap, but it is well worth the price.

Room was crawling with bugs!! The room had clearly been cleaned some time back and the heating left off — everything was damp and bugs had made it their home. In bed was a dead bug, in the sink was a centipede crawling around, and many others were crawling along the walls.||After sending pictures and asking for consideration for compensation, the reply was that “you maybe left the windows open and didn’t inform us at check in”… never mind that I had proof on a gas receipt on the way to bellinzona with a time stamp that together with my photo time stamps showed this to be nonsense, nor the fact that the hotel was not occupied with staff and there was nobody to inform, … blaming the customer still seemed to be the argument of the day.||In any event, see the photos, time stamps and all ;-) for yourself and avoid this place at all costs.

Absolutely wonderful location on a farm with vines and views of the mountains, very welcoming hosts, comfortable rooms. We booked very last minute and turned up to a beautiful room, lovely dinner and amazing views from their terrace. Only downside was it was very pricey especially after 10 days spent in Italy.

Stayed 1 night here. Room was ok, quite big and clean. Why just 2 stars: we ate for Easter evening at the pension restaurant. We were offered just the Easter Menu, at a relatively high price (78 CHF), but we took it. Ordered also 500ml of home wine, there was no separate menu for wines, we thought it wouldn't cost more than 30-35 CHF, but paid 45 in the end. We received water on the table, thought it was included in the menu price (looked like tap water), but had to pay 16 CHF for 1,5 liter at the end. So for 2 persons and a small child portion (was just 9 CHF), almost 250 CHF in the end, for a normal restaurant, nothing gourmet, bad price/quality ratio, I felt really bad for the money that evening, couldn't sleep well after that, felt like being somewhat stolen, as the prices for wine and water were not written and were totally high.

I stayed here as it was a convenient stopping point on a long drive, and despite the fact it rained the entire time I was there, I was very pleasantly surprised. The room I stayed in was simple but comfortable and the decor was charming - exactly what you would expect in an old converted farmhouse. I had a great dinner as well - the menu is quite short but everything I ate was delicious, as were the suggested wines which accompanied dinner. The breakfast was quite simple but tasty and - if you like German style breakfasts (meat and cheese) you would be very well provided for. The staff were also incredibly friendly - I particularly liked the very old man who kindly escorted me to my car with an umbrella! I think the view from here is probably great but, as I mentioned before, it was raining heavily so I couldn't see much more than the vineyard directly outside my window. Definitely worth staying here if you are visiting this area or just looking for somewhere decent to stop on a long drive.

though GPS didn't find the location easily, in the end we were much pleased with the place, room, stuff & of course dinner and wine. the latter were magnificent. I definitely recommend to stay there if you are travelling in Ticino or to dine if you stay close. It is like a Michelin restaurant (though choice is small) and with very cose atmosphere.

The place was chosen as the stop over for the night in Swiss area behind S.Bernardino Pass! The choice was correct - the place was a very nice, even we did not got the external hut, the rooms we had was nice and spacy, warm and with in suite bath tub, which is great.||||The hotel is equiped with the wifi all around the places - free and perfectly working, it is done in the coountry stily and overall very very affordable for the cost of the country - we booked in advance with special rate, so it was ok for the stay in the area. ||||The palce is realtively hard to find, especially in the dark, while it is located in the wineyard behind the automated gates, which you may easy pass over, but the place is marked well as soon as you are in all started to be clear - just a few hundreads meter high from the major street in the town and you are there.||||The wineyard makes of course the very nice setting and to wake up in the area with sun coming over the mountains and then have a nice breakfast with fresh things and crousants - it is so touching - the walk in the wine yard is also very very pleasant either in the morning or evening.||||Overall there is one point to remember - the hotel is not reachable by the public transport easy - there is a bus stop near by at the main road but it is half kilometer away downhill from the hotel. The hotel is also OK for pets, while not for whealchair - no lifts, not ramps!||||Overall I would recomend this place for a stay in Bellinzona area or for a break on the road or for the Locarno Majore Stay! Very nice.

Nice place, very local, good service, good quality local food, place is owned by winemaker Delea, offering good opportunities for a wine tasting. Bedrooms are comfortable. Attractive location within vineyards, at the beginning of the piano del Magadino with view on the Tamaro mountain. Interesting destination for a weekend in Ticino.
