Post-Olympics, Japan’s New Hotels Will Be Worth Traveling For

"You are going to want to book into the new Fauchon Kyoto not just for its French influence (yes, it is “Fauchon” of French patisserie fame) but because, in a city dripping with exceptional hotels including the Ace and the Aman, Fauchon somehow bagged the best location in town. The 70 rooms overlook the Kamo River and are within strolling distance to the historic Matsubara bridge and Shijo Kawaramachi shopping district, not to mention the 1,600 Buddhist temples and 400 Shinto shrines dotted all over town. At this second boutique hotel by the Parisian brand, magenta-colored furniture are accented with golden sakura petals to celebrate its Japanese location. Rooms are decorated with washi paper and the hotel offers traditional tea ceremonies as well as Fauchon French goodies like millefeuille pastries by local bakery, Izutsu."

FAUCHON L’Hotel Kyoto (Kyoto Prefecture, Japan) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s long been the case that just about any European cuisine is represented at its very best in Japan; Fauchon L’Hôtel tests this proposition, as the French culinary arts brand Fauchon has created a hotel in Kyoto that’s both authentically Japanese and perhaps more Parisian than most hotels in Paris. The rooms are stunning, with hot pink accents against a monochrome Art Deco–inspired backdrop. And the food and beverage outlets, naturally, are particular strengths, from the Salon de Thé and the on-site patisserie to the Grand Café restaurant and, remarkably enough, the first-ever Fauchon Spa." - Tablet Hotels

This place is a gem. Upon arrival I was not sure if we were close enough to the Gion section. After a walk about, I realized this location is perfect because it is midway between super touristy Gion and a Japanese residential area filled with authentic wares and antiques. Really nice stores in the other direction including world renowned tea shop, clothing boutiques, etc. As for the hotel, well, in true Japanese fashion, they cater to one’s needs and service is at the forefront. Immaculate spacious rooms, cocktail bar, and dining done to specs. On a personal note, my wife became ill with a minor infection and Japan is funny with what medications you’re allowed to bring into country; not to worry the Hotel Management connected her with a doctor in Tokyo who was a resident at a hospital and after a thorough consultation sent a script to solve the issue. The Hotel dealt with the pharmacy, picked up and delivered the script. More than reasonable and all with intense and meaningful pleasant concern. Very nice people here. I would stay here again and again. Breakfast is hearty and plenty of western offerings. We ventured out for lunches and dinner on the go, but I would imagine the dining is favorable. Also an excellent cafe inside hotel on first floor offering coffee, espresso, capuchino, lattes, matcha-lattes, etc. One may also get a glass of wine and croc messier, light bites here. Nice option if you want a lighter, quick bite.

What a wonderful experience! I will start by saying the accommodation is excellent. The rooms are well designed, clean, and comfortable. The snacks and tea selection in your room is delicious. The customer service was exceptional. Anytime I came to the lobby I was taken care of immediately. The staff made me feel very cared for. After a long day of walking around Kyoto, it was always pleasant to come back to this beautiful accommodation and soak in the tub. It was the easiest part of my trip!

I had a truly positive experience at Fauchon Hotel Kyoto, starting with the warm welcome from the guest relations team upon arrival.||We stayed in a suite, which was very spacious and thoughtfully equipped with all the amenities one could need. Housekeeping was excellent and attentive, providing turn-down service and additional amenities as requested.||Breakfast was à la carte and catered perfectly to every need. The fresh-squeezed orange juice, prepared à la minute, was outstanding and made a real difference. The omelet was cooked exactly as I requested—soft, not overdone—and delivered with flawless service. It was also a very nice gesture that the General Manager personally greeted us during breakfast to ensure everything was to our satisfaction.||The lounge was another highlight, with delicacies such as caviar and freshly carved jamón ibérico. Every small bite was delicious and beautifully presented. Beverages were plentiful, and I especially enjoyed the Fauchon Pink Sparkling Wine edition.||A special thanks goes to Miss Jiin Kim, Assistant Guest Relations Manager, and the entire team (apologies for not recalling all the names) for their professionalism and kindness.||The hotel’s location is also very convenient—close to popular attractions, with easy access to buses right outside the lobby that go directly to Kyoto Station.||Overall, my stay was exceptional, and without a doubt, if I have the opportunity to return to Kyoto, I will choose Fauchon Hotel again.

Fauchon L’Hôtel Kyoto is a stunning blend of Parisian elegance and Kyoto charm, and our stay was elevated by the incredible hospitality of Daisuke and his team. From the moment we arrived, their warmth and attention to detail made us feel truly welcomed and cared for. The hotel itself is a visual delight—stylish, serene, and full of thoughtful touches. The in-room Gourmet Bar was a sweet surprise, stocked with Fauchon’s signature treats. But one of the highlights of our stay was the morning breakfast: beautifully presented, full of flavor, and served with the same grace and care that defined the entire experience. It was the perfect way to start each day. Daisuke stood out with his graciousness and genuine kindness, and the entire team reflected that same spirit. If you're looking for a luxurious escape with heartfelt hospitality, Fauchon Kyoto is the place. Huge thanks to Daisuke and everyone who made our visit so memorable.

Brilliant from start to finish. Stylish and beautifully appointed a harmonious blend of Kyoto meets Paris. We had a lovely suite which entitled us to snacks and drinks every evening. The staff could not have been more helpful. They arranged for us to overnight a package by courier to our hotel in Tokyo. The breakfasts were delicious. Walking distance to Gion.. All in all a terrific experience.

While the hotel is absolutely beautifully appointed, the food is delicious and the location is fabulous it is the staff that takes this place over the top! Daisuke Fukuda and Nonami in particular went above and beyond every chance they had to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I could ever need to have a wonderful experience of Kyoto. I will never forget all their hard work and kindness!

We had an incredible time at Fauchon, and the team really went above and beyond. The room itself was beautiful, and the baked goods when we arrived made for a wonderful welcoming touch. Yuki welcomed us into the hotel and checked us in gracefully. He asked us about any allergies we had, and sent up gluten free snacks for my wife. It was our 6th wedding anniversary, which we mentioned in passing during check-in, and Yuki surprised us with a note and a happy anniversary message written on our mirror that made our evening our second day! We also have to call out Jin, who helped us ship our luggage onward to our next hotel. We asked her our first night, and she arranged everything with our next hotel ahead of time, so that we just brought down our luggage when we were ready the next day; she already had the destination labels prepared.

Fauchon Hotel Kyoto is where French elegance meets Japanese artistry. Every detail feels designed with love—from the pastel pink interiors to the gourmet minibar filled with macarons and champagne. The staff provide impeccable service with a smile, making every guest feel like a VIP. Breakfast overlooking Kyoto’s skyline is a treat worth waking up for. If you love beauty, comfort, and a touch of Parisian glamour, this hotel will exceed expectations.

Yelp
What a great find! This hotel was exquisite. When you enter, you are greeted by the concierge who will escort you to the elevator. They tell you that the reception desk is on the 10th floor, and your luggage will be waiting for you in your room. They will swipe their card, press the 10th floor button, and you're on your way to a great stay. While checking in, you're brought macarons and tea. The bar is across the room. The check-in process is quick. The staff are all so friendly and hospitable. Room service is unbelievably quick. Granted, we only ordered champagne, but it was in our room in less than 10 minutes. This hotel is luxurious, but not pretentious. I look forward to returning next year!
