My darling wife says this is the best seared tuna she has had on all our world journeys. I tasted it and I agree. It was top quality sushi grade meat cooked to perfection and the pumpkin purée was magical. The views from the restaurant are stunning as you look over the city and port of Valparaiso. Superior service advised and delivered our drinks and dinner with a friendly smile. Absolutely loved this place.

We stopped in and enjoyed afternoon drinks in the restaurant. The service was good and the outdoor seating offered a great view of the city. They had a good selection of beverages and we order a very up scale ice dream sandwich. We enjoyed our brief visit and would come back again.

I can’t say anything about the hotel but the restaurant was excellent. We had a great lunch at a reasonable price with excellent views. Some musicians started playing music while we were eating which made the experience more entertaining

Google
Great location and cool building. Reception could be a bit more helpful, possibly give some local tips like in other places, rather than just ‘hi’. The bathroom was a bit tired looking and the bed very squeaky. Unfortunately there was a plague of termites on our first evening. After an initial clean up that we did, we eventually had to get up on the night and get help from reception with bug spray (most helpful). We then needed to have the window closed and had to ask for a fan as there’s no a/c or way of ventilating the room without the window open. But it would have been better if reception had told us it was happening to make sure windows were shut and so on. We ended up with a room full of dead termites and shed wings which was pretty disgusting. Lastly, on check out the woman who took payment was extremely unfriendly, no smile, no ‘I hope you had a good stay, have a good day, thank you for staying with us’ which left a sour taste in the mouth. these things are so easy to remedy by just paying a bit more attention to details and making more of an effort.

I had a very good stay in this hotel. The staff is very kind. The breakfast is complete and delicious. The hotel is located in the best location of Valparaiso and you have panoramic views . I highly recommend the hotel restaurant. It has fresh seafood and very varied and good drinks.

I did not actually stay at this hotel as we needed to cancel the reservation. It took 3 weeks to get a refund and they couldn't provide it via credit card. I needed to open a Western Union account and had to email every week for 3 weeks to find out when the refund would happen as each week I was told it would be the following week. Eventually, I called and spoke with the manager and received the refund. Based on this lack of basic administrative procedure, I would not consider staying at this hotel when I return to Chile.

We are at the restaurant, and it was incredible. I had the Camembert y Serrano sandwich and it was one of my favorite meals during all of my time in Chile. There was great drinks and wine as well, along with lovely views of the city. Highly recommended!

Though the location is really great, globally we have been very disappointed. We had booked a superior room for 2 days : the room is extra small, no storage space or drawers or hangers or anything for your stuff. One window supposedly overlooking the city but we couldn’t see a thing. Bathroom ridiculously small with, again, just nothing where you can put your stuff, not even a toothbrush. |On top of that, it was very cold and the heating wasn’t working. They tried to fix it but couldn’t. Brought us a portable heater that was totally inefficient.

Yelp
We spent just over 1 week in Chile across Santiago, Valparaiso, and San Pedro de Atacama, and at the end of the day Fauna was probably our favorite restaurant. It's located in/next to Fauna hotel next to one of the funiculars/ascensors, so it's easy to find. Half the restaurant is indoor (with glass windows) and the rest out on a patio with a gorgeous view. We ordered the shrimp, sauteed vegetables, fish of the day with risotto, and a smoked salmon sandwich. The portions were extremely generous for the mains and everything was delicious. We were absolutely stuffed between 2 people and probably could've ordered 1 fewer dish. Only minor complaint was that the fish was a tad salty. While we didn't have any cocktails, the bartenders looked skilled and the mixed drinks looked beautiful. Highly recommend for a delicious scenic meal in Valpo!

Yelp
Situated on a hilly part of Valparaiso, overlooking the ocean. Easiest way to get to it by using the Ascensor Concepción funicular. Cost around 600 Chilean pesos round trip or 300 pesos one way. The location and ambience is nice and staff are friendly. The food is also good. Prices are not expensive and they are affordable. Bathrooms were also clean.

Yelp
I would just say, best place to go for a drink if you want to have an unforgettable view!!! Wow! Whole Valparaiso skyline. We went just for drinks and they were pretty tasty. Staff was very friendly. Free WiFi available. Mostly for tourists! Place was very clean. I did see people eating, however I only saw the drink menu!

Yelp
Great food and an even better view! My friends and I stopped here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The host was very nice and spoke English, which was very helpful since none of us could speak Spanish. We sat inside since it was a little chilly/windy that day, but the dining room is surrounded by glass and some of the doors were open so you still get the feel of being outside. Our server was pleasant and also spoke some English. The menus have Spanish and English on them. Our drinks took a little longer to come out than expected, but wasn't too noticeable since we were enjoying the view. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything was delicious! Something worth noting, my friend and I both ordered the same sandwich, which had "caliente" written next to it. We thought this meant it would be spicy, but there was no spice to it all. We then decided it was supposed to be a warm sandwich, but it was definitely cold. That didn't bother us and the sandwich was yummy regardless. Due to the language barrier, we didn't bother to question the server about what supposed to be caliente :)

Yelp
Location: Nice view overlooking Valparaiso harbor Food: Started with the mushrooms and artichokes which was a pretty tasty appetizer, accompanied by a nice Romesco sauce and Pesto. The almond cheese accompanying it was bland and seemed a bit out of place though. For my main I had the fish soup which had a nice selection of shellfish and fish but was served in a clear fish broth rather than a more traditional red broth. I felt the broth lacked flavor, despite the seafood being fresh. Drinks: My Pisco Sour was decent. Service: Service was friendly and prompt. Overall: A nice place to relax and take in a drink in Valpo but there are probably better restaurants in the area if judging on food alone.

Yelp
4 stars for the patio with amazing views of Valparaiso. Really picturesque. I loved how they had an animal on every table (representing "fauna"). Conveniently located on Cerro Alegre by the Queen Victoria funicular, we took the funicular for Cerro Concepcion and walked over. This is a new eco friendly building, which is much welcome in an area where many of the buildings are just old and run down. This also serves as a hotel and restaurant, but they oddly didn't have most of the menu available when we stopped by. Only sandwiches and desserts. A shame, because I would have loved to try some of their appetizers. The menu appears to be Peruvian (they market it as "International"). The mojito I ordered was less sweet than I usually like them, but some might prefer it this way. Be sure to stir!

Yelp
Wow, wow, wow. We found this spot last year. The most amazing outdoor bar/restaurant you'll experience in Valpo. I hesitated reviewing this place because I wanted it to remain my secret go to spot. You want amazing views, amazing food. Amazing drinks. This is it! From the moment you set foot in this place you just get this overwhelming feel for Valpo. I'm telling you this review does not do this place justice. The food is just incredible. I can spend hours here. And I have. Perched on top of a hill, overlooking Cerro Alegre. I can't emphasize enough the urgency to visit this jewel of a place.

Yelp
I spent a week in the area of Valparaiso and this was by far my favorite place for drinks and food! Super friendly and helpful staff and the view from the outdoor deck is spectacular. Pisco sours are great. Artistic neighborhood.

Yelp
This was my Christmas dinner re-do, as I was actually stuck in an airport on Christmas Day. It also happened to be my first meal in Valparaiso. If I can give one piece of advice for eating in Valparaiso it is this: eat with a view. There are so many things to see, why would you corner yourself off inside. Find a terrace. Find a cafe. Find a seat outside! Second, this was probably one of the best meals I had in the city. Just as good as the fancier La Concepción.

Andrés A.

Yelp
Food was way too salty and not really flavorful. For the price the food was very underwhelming. The view is amazing and the staff is friendly. Drinks were good

Alexandra M.

Yelp
The food was really good, but like everyone here says, the service was really slow. It took close to an hour to get our main entree. And we ordered the cheese platter, it was missing the prosciutto that it says was included on the menu. Overall, it was a nice meal with a fantastic view, but I probably won't be back.

Yelp
Came here on the recommendation of one of the owners of our Inn. The area is next to one of the oldest funiculars (Queen Victoria) in town. It's worth the 100 peso (.25 cents) fee for the view alone! On to the review.. The restaurant is partially indoors and partially outdoors. Our table was right on the edge of the indoor space so we had an excellent view of both Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar. I think as a tourist, there's nothing like seeing a panorama on your first night of a city. The service was a bit slow at first, we probably didn't order for at least 10-15 minutes. My initial impression was shaky. The food and drink more than made up for it though. I had a local craft beer, which was surprisingly good given Chile's not so stellar reputation in this department (great wine and pisco though). We split an appetizer, of cheese, tomatoes, bread and onions on a little pan grill and it was supremely delicious. A great serving size for two people. The main course I ordered was a mix of quinoa with grilled shrimp baked in. I would never have thought of mixing the two, but they're that odd couple that you don't think would work out but actually are perfect for each other. My girlfriend ordered a beef dish with potatoes and I marveled at her that you never order meat at a seafood oriented place, and even they nailed the beef just right. Overall, don't expect the swiftest service. Do enjoy the views and I'm surprised this place wasn't over run by tourists. Our table was one of few that were speaking English. Definitely worth a visit for the tasty bites. Check out the catch of the day, I would have tried it if I hadn't eaten salmon earlier.

Yelp
The food was average, we had the seafood platter including a good ceviche and some mediocre mussels. And a salad which was ok. Limping into three stars. But the room is great, we were sat on the balcony, looking out over the bay. I'd go again but next time just for beers.

Yelp
Really amazing food - their chocolate lava cake is mouth watering, I went a couple of times just for that. All of their fish entrees also melt in your mouth The view is incredible, try to get an outside table if you can, they will bring you blankets in the evening if it get too cold. The only downside is it is very touristic, you won't find many locals hanging out there.

Linda W.

Yelp
Really good food for a decent Price and at an excellelent location with nice views over the city. We had some drinks as well as the ceviche to share. It was tasteful. What we liked most with this place was that they used a lot of greens and fresh ingredients in their cooking, which sometimes is hard to find in Chile. Service was also good. We recommend you to pay a visit.

Yelp
My first stop in Valpo. Cool, hip, trendy, mix of tourists, expats, and locals. Staff are young, hip, and friendly. Some English spoken, but use your Spanish if you can. The views out over Valpo and the harbor are amazing, and even if you are facing the "yellow house" on the terrace, its a great view. Excellent wine list, beer and cocktails. Chilean beer is very unknown here in the states, unlike the wine, and I suggest you explore it in depth. I had a nice golden ale on tap, and a Chilean IPA in bottle that was richer and more complex than 90% of the IPAs I've had in the states. Food is typical Chileno fare with a few twists. The machas (razor clams with parmesan) are great, and one of the shrimp dishes I had (came in a bubbling creamy stew) was crazy good. Fun to compare their shrimp to our Gulf shrimp here...very different, both excellent.

Ellen L.

Yelp
Definitely a favorite for tourists. I stayed in the Fauna hotel as well and both were wonderful. It was my first few days in Chile on a study abroad semester, so I'm thankful for their service and helping me get comfortable. The food is high quality and sometimes there are live performers. One night a woman sang Spanish gitana (gypsy) folk songs. This is a real treat if you come to Valparaíso. The view of the puerto is incredible. Bring a jacket because of the wind!

Tevin A.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place for brunch. Not the cheapest meal you'll eat in Valpo. But not the most expensive either. Great views, good service. We even experienced so live music. A big fan.

Lex V.

Yelp
Pedro makes you feel very welcomed. The view is amazing and the food is the best we have here.

Patty G.

Yelp
I cannot give this jewel of Valpariso enough stars! The food is nothing less than exceptional, the staff is attentive, and the atmosphere is so relaxed. If you are ever in the Valpariso or Vina Del Mar area, you MUST stop here!

Ted K.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while walking the hills of Valpo. So glad we did! First, the view from the outdoor patio is amazing. Sweeping panorama of Valpo and the sea. We started with white wine and the octopus appetizer. My God the octopus was the best ever. Tender, nicely grilled with a fantastic dressing. We then had the fish special. Something the waiter translated as "old woman." It was awesome served on risotto. Service was professional and friendly. We were treated to a local jazz duo playing on the patio to a full house of diners. It was really a perfect experience and topped off our Chilean vacation.

Langdon H.

Yelp
Fantastic food and incredible view. There are no heaters on the patio, and the blankets they provide were not enough to stay warm in the wind, so come prepared. Slightly understaffed, but very courteous.

Lori G.

Yelp
So, I walked by this place like a million times, only bc I thought it was too pricey. Finally went as an occasion/destination to find that the food and drinks are great, as suspected, but not too pricey at all. And a grand deviation from typical Chilean food. The view is spectacular, not to be missed!

Bana B.

Yelp
Wonderful service at dinner. Helpful staff. Good food. The merluza (hake) was delicious! Definitely going back for a cheese board; saw one going to another table and it looked amazing. Love the view. Dress warmly if it's winter.

Poli M.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing, the waiters are really cool and nice. The food is outstanding, we grabbed some bruschettas and ham wrapped octopus and it was absolutely delicious, pretty big plates, good for sharing a starter and a main course. Got two sodas, a starter, a main course and a dessert for 30000 clp. Totally worth it. It has one of the better balcony sights of the night in Valaparaiso.

Alex J.

Yelp
One of the best spaces in Valparaiso. Great views of the water and an awesome deck with seating. Would recommend the vegetarian apple, brie, and avocado sandwich and the nutella ice cream as well.

Tammy G.

Yelp
Came here for first time to Valparaiso. Cute place with pretty view, patio table was cold & windy so we opted to sit inside. Best thing was the view! We were frustrated with the horribly slow service!! Spent total of 2 1/2 for dinner because we had to keep waving the waitress down to ask for each part of our meal and drinks. Food was ok and nothing special in our opinions. I had the Crusoe fish which was overcooked and Too dry. My friend had the veggie sandwich which she said was not that great. I think this place is overrated.

Sini P.

Yelp
Book a table in order to get the best table for you. The view is beautiful and food is good. Nothing special but for example risotto of 3 quinoas is ok.

Ted B.

Yelp
Beautiful view and good drinks. In terms of food it's a solid option, though there are better restaurants in town. They're also open all day (don't close between lunch and dinner) which is a plus.

Melissa S.

Yelp
We spent 9 days in chile, 3 of which were spent in Valparaiso. We had our best meal here. Each of the 4 of us ordered a different seafood dish and all were outstanding. The setting on the bay is lovely!
