"Feathered Pipe Ranch has been hosting yoga retreats in Montana since 1975 and draws top wellness experts from around the world. It's easy to see why—the sprawling retreat center in the Rocky Mountains is surrounded by nearly a million acres of national forest, creating a spectacular setting for reflection and growth. While its retreats range in focus, from yoga to Ayurveda to shamanism, they all share Feathered Pipe Foundation’s mission of offering inclusive experiences that preserve cultural traditions and encourage mindfulness. Private and shared lodging options range from Western-style chalets to glamping tents and yurts, and rates include nutritious meals (including vegan and gluten-free options) and access to amenities like saunas and a hot tub. Between classes, grab a canoe to explore the property’s spring-fed lake, hit the hiking trails, and keep an eye out for roving wildlife, including herds of elk and deer that call this alpine paradise home."

What a peaceful magical place. I am filled with gratitude for The Feathered Pipe Ranch and Veterans Yoga Project for sharing their love and space. The setting was peaceful and majestic. The staff made sure we had everything and anything we needed at all times. The food is amazing. The outdoor spaces are breathtaking. The story of the land and the people who have made it available to us are entertaining and educational. I definitely had to fight the urge to “run away” and stay for longer. If you have the opportunity to visit, take it. May you find as much love and gratitude as I did in this special place with these special people.

What a wonderful place located in beautiful surroundings. The staff puts lots of love in this place and takes so much care of their guests. The food was healthy and delicious ( I wish I asked for the tofu recipe, it was one of the best I've ever tried). A perfect place to recharge and get some inspiration.

Feather Pipe Ranch is an incredible experience that I could not recommend more. I was researching and looking for a wellness retreat that would be restorative after being mentally exhausted and burnt out from corporate America. After reading the reviews, I had high expectations, now post retreat- I can say they were exceeded. The ranch staff take incredible care and are passionate about providing guests with the highest level of service, and are superbly kind and meticulous to every guests needs. I have never seen such detail oriented menus that provide specific dietary options for all guests. Not only do they take vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free, and meat eaters into account- they also have a system in the kitchen down to individual guests!! I had to peak behind the curtain to see the magic! See photos for high level of detail. The food was incredibly delicious and healthy. Great care was taken to provide local farm to fork options that were sourced from Montana. The kitchen was a delicious well oiled machine that enabled you to focus on yoga/ meditation and rest. By far the best “camp” food I’ve encountered. As for the yoga, I was fortunate enough to be a beginner practitioner (and I mean completely green) Iyengar yogi. Lara Warren is a certified Senior Intermediate Iyengar teacher who has taught yoga in New York and worldwide since 1989- and was our instructor. Our class was a mix of a few complete beginners, seasoned practitioners, and numerous other Iyengar teachers. She did an absolutely incredible job of teaching to each persons’ individual skill level and health limitations/history. Her dedication, commitment, and study to Iyengar yoga was not only inspiring but practical on the minute level in helping me understand and develop the basics. This type of yoga, Iyengar, has an incredible ability to take you outside your mind to understand and be present in your body by teaching you how to breathe and grounding you. The breath connects your physicality and mentality- something I had not previously understood the significance of and its impact on my health. As someone who gets stuck in my brain and focus’s on cognitive tasks to the neglect of my physical health, this was transformational and encouraging for me. Lastly- I loved how community oriented this retreat was and how it fostered relationships between generations. This is something I no longer experience since I left the church 10 years ago. It was incredibly encouraging to meet other students in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s, and not only learn from them but see how this yoga practice has been with them for 10, 20, and 30 years and how it not only helped them develop mental fortitude but also helped them develop physical strength and balance. This was truly a life changing experience for me, and I am looking forward to continuing and joining my own Iyengar yoga studio back home. (And also coming back someday!). I strongly recommend.

I love the feathered pipe ranch. The setting is so beautiful. They have Buddha statues placed in a rock shrine with prayer flags. Tipees and log cabins. A really nice resort, and they have Nature Appreciation Sessions. Unfortunately they don't allow dogs and we got thrown out. A ranch that doesn't allow animals LOL. Animals are souls, too...

My heart is so full after my trip to FPR. Of course the grounds are beautiful but I think the most special part about FPR is the staff that works there during the retreat seasons. Eric, the director, is honestly one of the most down to earth, kind, and thoughtful people I have ever met. The FPR staff and Eric have created a space that is not only stunning but also one where people can come and feel safe and taken care of. I am very grateful for my time spent at FPR and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to get away and nourish their soul with amazing people and beautiful nature. Thanks to the wonderful staff for a great experience. My heart is so full. Namaste 🙏🏻✨

Feathered Pipe Ranch is an ideal retreat when you need to unplug and connect with Nature and yourself. The staff was friendly and accommodating to make this experience truly restful. I stayed in one of the yurts (see photo), which was simple yet comfortable and clean. The healthy comfort food had plenty of dairy free, gluten free, and vegetarian options to suit any dietary needs. I will be back!

What a beautiful retreat center! The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our groups dietary restrictions. They cooked wonderful meals, and quickly resolved any concerns or questions we had. Some highlights of the stay include all of the beautiful hiking trails accessible from the Ranch, the kayaking/paddleboarding at the pond, and the many moose (and other wildlife) sightings from the property. Thank you for a great week Feathered Pipe Ranch!

I visited Feathered Pipe Ranch on a yoga retreat with my amazing teachers Stacy McGinty and Teresa Gonzalez. The place is incredible. The land is beautiful, peaceful, and full of magic. I stayed in a yurt in mid-September, and what a great experience. The evenings were chilly, but I had many cozy blankets, and the staff made sure I was warm and comfortable. Staying outside in the elements (well, almost) was a real treat. The bathrooms and showers, sauna, and hot tub facilities were a short walk from the yurt - I made a habit of getting nice and warm in the sauna before hopping into bed in the evenings. The yoga room in the main lodge is beautiful! Full of history, and it looks out onto the water. I found it to be a quite peaceful place to practice. Finally, the staff at the Ranch are amazing. They made sure our group had everything we needed/wanted, and we felt so cared for there. And the food - oh goodness the food! You will never eat so well in your life. They had options for various special diets, and each meal had a fun, well-thought-out theme. It was all just so good. Special shout-out to the baker - the cornbread was the best I've ever had :)

Yelp
I found the Feathered Pipe Ranch when looking for a Shamanic healing retreat to attend. Although there were 3 retreats within driving distance of where I live in New England, I chose to go to the Feathered Pipe in Montana after I reviewed the website and saw the pictures and beauty of the land. The Ranch exceeded my expectations! The land is beautiful, the staff are all helpful, kind and happy, and the food was amazing! I chose to stay in a tipi, and although the week happened to be chilly, the sleeping bags and blankets provided, as well as the opportunity to use the hot tub and sauna, kept me plenty warm. The outside accommodations are indeed a very short walk from the bathhouse, dining hall and main lodge. It was advised several times during the week if there was anything one needed to ask - I did not, however, I know if I had, the staff would have resolved any needs. I would HIGHLY recommend attending a retreat at the Feathered Pipe Ranch. If not for my family, I would not have wanted to leave!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible, sacred and magical place. Feels like home immediately. We were nourished with amazing and plentiful food, awe inspiring spiritual practices and captivating views. A life changing experience on all counts. Highest recommendation!!!

Yelp
A magic place Where to start; 5 stars for the staff who made everyone welcome. 5 stars for food, you looked forward to each meal and tried to guess which international cuisine would be severed. The cooks catered to everyone's needs. 5 stairs to the location. Stunning 5 stars for the facilities. Doing yoga outside on the new platform magical. Looking forward to going again next year!

Yelp
Amazing place for a retreat. We were there last month with Judith and Lizzie Laseter for a restorative yoga retreat. Food- absolutely amazing. I was in awe at the quality of the food they put out on a daily basis. Mike and Mike are awesome chefs. Facilities- pretty awesome Staff- amazing Massages- amazing Water pressure- nearly non-existent in the shower we had Salt Water hot tub- very nice Make no beans about it, you are camping when here even if in one of the glamping yurts or TeePees so be prepared with warm clothing for nights and shorts during the day. I highly recommend the facilities, staff, and food. You'll have to research the programming for the retreat you are planning to attend.

Yelp
Truly a place of peace and healing. Every aspect of the retreat supports this philosophy. All of the staff work to make your stay welcoming. The quality of Marla's retreat is unparalleled.

Yelp
Wow. Just wow. I travel a ton and have been to wellness retreats before but Feathered Pipe is otherworldly. From it's sacred grounds to the program of Carie Garrett's retreat to the staff at the Ranch, it was the best experience from the minute I arrived to the minute I departed. I arrived not knowing anyone and left with 11 soul sisters and a home to return to in Montana. If you want to expand your mind, deepen your yoga mindset and truly nourish yourself, book a retreat at Feathered Pipe. Oh and stay in a yurt, it's pretty awesome especially for this city girl. Just wow....

Yelp
The Feathered Pipe Foundation has been hosting/holding consciousness living & yoga workshops for over 30 years. The majority of their workshops are held at the awe-inspiring private Feathered Pipe Ranch, located in the Helena National Forest in Montana. The accommodations at "The Ranch" are lovely...ranging from private rooms with private baths, to dorm style, from yurts, to tents & tipis. Prices vary according to lodging style. I greatly enjoy having so many options. The food is AMAZING! Be it "Big Mike's" street-style Thai food, Howard's famous spaghetti sauce, or the always well stocked organic salad bar, my taste buds and body are always grateful for the meals at the Feathered Pipe. Retreats/workshop vary by teacher, topic, and areas of focus. I am a great fan of the Erich Schiffmann workshop held in July. During leisure hours, I hike, I hot-tub, I nap on the lawn, take a trip into historic downtown Helena, or just sit around the camp fire enjoying the wonderful stories of guests and staff. The prices for the workshops/retreats are standard to the wellness industry. However, this being my 3rd trip to the Feathered Pipe Ranch for a Feathered Pipe Foundation yoga workshop/retreat, I must share with you that: 1 week long Workshop Program + 1 week of Expereinces at the Ranch = a whole lot more bang for your buck than found at most other retreat centers.

Yelp
Updated: management has changed dramatically at FPR and made sure the practitioner I mentioned was paid in full. They seem great. I can't speak first hand on how the center being run now, but it's a truly magical place. Well worth checking out. Initial review: This land is just amazing, powerful, grand and nurturing. The meeting space was great. The body work/healers there are wonderful. But I just found out that the managers of Feathered Pipe Ranch have not paid the practitioner of my retreat anything, now over 6 months since the event. That retreat was life changing incredible, despite issues with the attitude and occasional disruptive behavior of the managers during our workshop. Because of this I am sadly never going back and would not suggest this location to another teacher. It's heartbreaking because the land is really special.

Yelp

Yelp
Magical place. Crystal lake. Fairytale blue dragonflies flying at its surface. Clean air and the purest water. Gourmet food, healthy organic, nutritious and delicious; this includes pampering deserts. And the most helpful, friendly and wonderful staff one can dream of! Everything inviting to rest, relax and let go. If perfection exists - this is where it can be found.

Yelp
I just returned from a wonderful weeklong yoga retreat led by Carie Garret at Feathered Pipe Ranch near Helena, Montana. It was a wonderful experience and I have already signed up for 2018 when she returns August 18-25. She is taking over the slot for a freedom-style yoga retreat at the ranch that was long led by Erich Schiffmann until he retired last year. For those who don't know her yet, Carie with the long-red hair was a long-time assistant of Erich's freedom yoga style. To say she is filling his shoes would be trite because while she remains loyal to the principles of freedom yoga, she is going steps further by adapting freedom-style yoga to a unique and refreshing style that is all her own. In contrast to the more cerebral emphasis of Schiffmann, Garret seems more focused on the heart and emotional aspects of yoga. For example, she is a devotee to Bhakti yoga, a branch of yoga more oriented to expression through singing, dancing, and other artistic forms. Most yoga studios don't offer Bhakti classes so yogis have few opportunities to sample the Bhakti experience. Carie is also emphasizing a freedom form of hatha yoga that gets away from some of the old techniques that other yogis drone on about that actually create stress rather than bring peace. She has created some of her own poses and sequences. For example, I remember "pigeonish" which is a way for people with tight hips to get the benefit of pigeon without the strain. Another pose is "running dog" that is an interesting variation of down dog. I have a tough time with balance poses but she did a sequence that brought me to a brief instance of dancer's pose. In addition to the mediation, some discussion and standard asana of the morning, each afternoon we had a session of freeform. This involves turning on music for about an hour in which you do any poses--existing or self-created--in any way that the spirit and music moves you. During one free-form session, interested yogis even had a change to draw mandelas which was a popular group activity. Although I lack any artistic skill, I found the mandela a very cathartic activity. Don't worry about the day being too busy to relax. There is ample time between the morning and late afternoon sessions to hike, boat on the lake, get massages, or my favorite activity take a nap. Some group members even led a yoga nidra session after class one day. A highlight of the week for me was the way Carie blended in story-telling with a dramatic flair. One tale in particular was the fascinating legend of the monkey god, Hanuman. These are some stories only some teacher trainees learn, but after that enthralling tale I now understand why splits are called the Hanumasana. Carie was very much a part of our group activities. Sometimes after dinner she led many of us to hike up to a scenic overlook over the ranch that also has a view of the continental divide. The sunsets there are spectacular. Often a group of us yogis line up on the ridge and have a picture of us in sundry poses. Of course, this whole week had the lovely Feathered Pipe Ranch as a backdrop. The accommodations can suit all tastes from lodge, to yurt, to tipi, to tents. As usual the food was scrumptious and varied. There were many options for vegans and those with restricted diets, but the carnivores had their shot. We circled the world on our bellies with Thai, Indian, Mexican, Chinese, etc.

Yelp
Oh Wow is this place AMAZING! Whether you're looking for a place for a personal retreat or you're going to join one of the great workshop/retreats or learning events they host, I highly recommend a visit to this gem! Nestled in the mountains near Helena, MT, the Feathered Pipe Ranch has great hiking trails, an awesome small, natural lake with a row boat, wonderful facilities and a staff comprised mostly of angels. The staff and operators of the Feathered Pipe love this space so much you feel it the moment you arrive and it makes your stay here feel totally welcoming. Great food, great places to sleep inside or closer to nature, and an awesome staff! There is nothing else like this place in the World!

Yelp
Feather Pipe is a beautiful place, tranquile, relaxing and beautiful. As an person who likes creature comforts and if you are too then I recommend you get a private room with a bath. The lake cottage is the absolute best but other private rooms are also nice or a private room with a shared bath is another option, or a shared room with a bath is you don't mind sleeping with other people, a good way to get to know people. If you are more adventurous and don't care about creature comforts then a Yert or Tepee would be fun but remember that you have to walk a ways to get to the "bath house " where there are indoor showers and toilets. Bring extra money and treat yourself to a massage!!!! If you like to hike and be active you can do that or you can just lay in a hammock when your workshop is not happening. They accommodiate all types of food requests. They are at 5,000 feet so if you are sensative to altitude bring pills or just drink lots of water while you are there. Go on a float trip if it is offered. FP is an amzing place to go for a retreat!!!
