Had a lovely lunch at La Federal on Parlament. The place has a cozy, laid-back vibe, and the service really stood out – I think our server’s name was Diego, and he was super kind and helpful. Made the experience even better!

Google
Amazing coffee place with a good breakfast and lunch menu. We had the burger and eggs Benedict with salmon and avocado, definitely worth a try! It has three stories with different seating arrangements! Great seating downstairs inside and upstairs outside on the roofterrace. Nice staff, Silvio & Jorge are great hosts, thanks for having us!

When we arrived in Barcelona, we wanted to have breakfast and decided to try Federal Café. Honestly, it was the worst Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had, it was overly salty and had a strange taste. I could barely eat it. My friend had a sandwich, which he said was fine, but since I didn’t like my Eggs Benedict with salmon, I decided to order a portion of French fries with ketchup. Unfortunately, they were just as bad. Even though the portion was large and looked nice, the fries were awful, and the ketchup had a very strange taste. The service was also poor. Only one person was working across two floors, and he barely spoke English, which made communication difficult. Overall, I do not recommend this place if you’re looking for a good, tasty breakfast with decent service.

We came here first thing in the morning and it was a beautiful quiet place to have breakfast. We got the chia pudding, two croissants, the eggs with mushrooms, a coffee and a matcha. Everything was delicious and beautifully served!

I came here yesterday with my partner. We got the fish and chips and the Ruben sandwich. First the good- the sandwich was super nice, I recommend it. The service was fantastic, the guy who works there is such a nice, friendly guy! The bad- the fish and chips are really not good. The fish was ridiculously over cooked. You know when fish is over cooked and it goes kind of chalky- thats what happened. Also the skin was on and it was horribly rubbery. We were in a big rush so we didn't complain and ask for something else, but I really wouldn't recommend ordering that. I believe this place is owned by Australians so the fish and chips should be so much better. Also the tartar sauce was....well honestly it was awful. Sorry

Google
Federal Café is a bright, airy space perfect for a slow brunch and artisan coffee. Their rooftop seating offers a peaceful oasis right in the middle of the bustling city, ideal for lingering with a book.

Google
The place and service were terrific and friendly but the food was frankly disappointing. We both didn’t finish our plates. The whites in the poached eggs were partly uncooked, the eggs were watery, and so was the spinach underneath. Muesli was bland and dry. Coffee was sub-par. It’s a shame the food and coffee aren’t good because the service and space are nice.

Google
A little popular brunch cafe located in Sant Antoni. I’ve personally been here 3 times for brunches with friends and there a lot of options. The menu is divided by 2 (earlier and later) depending on what time you come to the cafe. But to be honest I’m not entirely sure about this place . It’s always busy, packed with people and they are not always dog friendly. It’s also not clear that you have to wait outside until you get seated and that you have to pay at the till. Sometimes it’s difficult to get a hold of the waiters to order food and I one time saw one of the staff being rude to a customer. However, I suggest if you want to try it once, you should go for the ‘later’ menu as they have many unique and delicious items to try. I would definitely recommend for you try the zucchini fritters, eggs Benedict and hummus salad from the ‘later’ menu

Yelp
This place is amazing. Our Airbnb was across so we decided to drop in for breakfast. The breakfast was very fresh and delicious. On day one I tried the banana pancakes: fresh, tasty and light. My wife and daughter loved their avacode toast. The orange juice was fresh and sweet. The place was clean and the employees were friendly and professional. They work great together and they spoke English.

Yelp
Very cute coffee shop with good tasting coffee, drinks, and food. Everything feels healthy and prices are fair. Very polite service with a great terrace to enjoy. Nice local spot.

Yelp
Ok. So be careful with this one. The yelp App will direct a location close to La Rambla that is no longer open. The real location is in Sant Annon. Once you find it is a solid choice for breakfast. There are multiple floors and Wi-Fi. Which is helpful as there is limited table side ordering and with the QR code on the table you will place your order through the site and the servers will then serve table-side. Another GF location for breakfast in Barca. .

Yelp
We were looking for a place to have a bit to eat, that served breakfast. We found this after reviewing posts on Yelp, and so happy we went! Great service, friendly, prices and yummy delicious food! I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich guacamole, burrata and cherry tomatoes and my husband ordered the toasted brioche with ham and cheddar added bacon and a fried egg. I also ordered a latte, and a bottle of water. The vibe in Federal is relaxing and chill, just what we were looking for after walking here through the crowds.

Yelp
Food was delicious, atmosphere nice and relaxing. Service was good but not overly friendly.

Yelp
We found this place walking around the gothic quarter. We had a great breakfast and the service was wonderful. I think that no matter what you get, it will be good. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I am so happy I discovered federal cafe. The quality of the food is amazing and the service is so friendly! I actually came here twice during my four day trip to Barcelona.. and I ordered the same thing! I got the baked eggs with mushroom, spinach and Gruyere cheese and omg, they are amazing! The texture and flavor is spot on. I need to learn how to make this at home! I've also had the pancakes which is cooked to perfection as well. It's soft and yet crispy on the outside. My fiancé also ordered the omelette during our second visit and it was just ok- id skip it and stick with the baked eggs.

Yelp
Oh my. Where do I start. This was the best, heartiest, most authentically American Brunch place I've found in Barcelona. The Greek Yogurt w/ red berries was an 11/10. Coming back here tomorrow. 15,9 Euro total

Wendy H.

Yelp
Rude AF!!!! From the moment we arrived, we were treated badly, did not care to accommodate us at one of their tables. Not American friendly
google avatar

Cassy W.

Yelp
This is the perfect American travelers, super missing home, I just want some comfort food cafe. With that in mind, it's not super traditional for Spain; however it is amazing. The staff was friendly and had an all English menu. Don't be confused upon entering, they will seat you even if they don't welcome you immediately. Wait it out to avoid looks lol The food was good, drinks brewed well, and the WiFi was clutch. The aesthetic itself is worth the visit!
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
8 tables outside. All tables full. Only one person waiting tables. He was very nice (I think it is his first day), but way too busy for 1 person. Food was tasty, but cold. The owner/manager should be helping the wait staff. The manager doesn't care. Go somewhere else. Come here is you like cold eggs and cold potatoes.
google avatar

Yelp
This might have been my favorite breakfast/brunch place from my trip (way better than Brunch & Cake). Just the fact that they have OAT MILK LATTES won me over. I forgot the name of what I had but it was basically like poached eggs and chorizo on toast. The chorizo was a little oily but it tasted so fresh! The upstairs was way more cozy, spacious and less crowded. The downstairs is more communal and has areas with outlets if you want to do computer work. They are also dog friendly and have free wifi! It's a little off the beaten path which is why I guess it isn't more touristy. The service could have definitely been friendlier. But overall everything else was amazing and inexpensive.
google avatar

Shernell H.

Yelp
Federal Cafe's french toast is muy deliciouso! All that flavor and the not too overt sweetness. I would definitely come back again before I leave. I also had the veggie breakfast burger and that was very good as well!
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Came here twice during our stay in town and it was perfect! Nicest staff and patrons, great food and coffee! Loved it!
google avatar

Aldo Q.

Yelp
Greta place to have breakfast, real breakfast. Don't take me wrong, nothing wrong with having coffee and a croissant only but today we felt like having protein and something meatier. This place was awesome, after reading all te Yelp reviews, we wanted to try it and it didn't disappoint! A must if your in Poble Sec in Barcelona.
google avatar

Erik L.

Yelp
Most disappointing part was the service, one of the waitresses seemed bothered to be helping people. The food was a letdown: the pancakes were tough and over cooked, eggs Benedict had over cooked eggs. The coffee was really good and so was the dirty chai. Was excited to try and overall did not live up to the hype.
google avatar

Yelp
1 word...fresh. This place has a steady stream of people coming in and out. They have a communal table on the 1st floor for if you brought your laptop, you can eat and work on your laptop. That communal table is the only place you can work on your laptop. The place has many reminders were you cannot do that all over. The eggs benedict with bacon as well as the eggs and smoked trout were just fresh and delicious. I also had a chocolate and banana shake. Could not really taste the banana flavor. It was a nice shake. The people there are friendly and speak English, but you should try to learn the language while you are in their country.
google avatar

Gabby R.

Yelp
This is the best place for (Australian) brunch in Barcelona in my opinion. The atmosphere is impeccable; very chill and trendy. The smoothies are delicious, as is all of the food - my favorite was the cheese omelette pictured here. Really missing this place and can't wait to be back someday!
google avatar

Yelp
What a cute little spot! I came here for my last meal in Barcelona for breakfast. We were seated quickly at a communal table. The waitress came over quickly and gave us menus. I ordered a latte (or coffee with milk) and my fiancé ordered an Americano. Both were very good!! I ordered the eggs benedict with spinach and my fiancé ordered the bacon morning burger. I don't 100% love a ton of spinach on my eggs benedict but they did not have an option with ham like there is in the USA so I went with the spinach. The food took a few minutes to come out but we didn't mind people watching while we waited. Mine had a tonnnnnnn of spinach on it so if you like spinach you will love this. I ended up taking some off because I'm not the biggest fan but besides that the taste was good. I tired the bacon morning burger and it was delicious!!! My fiancé loved it and from what I had I liked it too. It had an onion jam on it which was something we have never tasted before but it was great! I would suggest going here if you are in the mood for a cute breakfast/brunch spot with good food. The menu has a bunch of options as well and the coffee was great!!!

Ruben H.

Yelp
Good food. Large space with plenty of space between tables. Friendly service though somewhat slow in coming to take our order.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning with 4 and we were seating immediately inside, they do have a nice outdoor area! The food was great, we got the Salmon Benedict, the shashuka omelette and the French toast. It was all delicious! We also got a bottle of champagne and a cappuccino which were both very yummy! When you are done you pay the register, very easy!! This is a great breakfast
google avatar

Yelp
This gem of a cafe has an upstares and downstairs. The menu is unique, the coffee perfect, and the bench window a lovely place for locals and vistiors to sit and enjoy some sunshine while catching up. There is a huge family style table where others will "join" you....talk or not. One day we vistited others, the next time I read a paper.
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee and torta de Jamon y queso. Great place to start your day in Barcelona.
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
One of my favorite cafes in Barcelona. Fast wifi, great food, amazing gf baked goods. Oat milk latte is great as is their espresso. The community table in the middle is for laptops (no plugs though); side tables are for eating and for sitting and chatting. It's tucked away in a corner away from the hustle and bustle of the Gothic Quarter, which is a treat.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
I had the iced tea (jasmine tea w/ mint and lychee), croissant with tomato, cheese and rocket (arugula), and bruschetta with smoked salmon, watercress and that cheese spread. I have no idea how this was so cheap considering this was by far the best breakfast I have ever had in my life, not to mention I also got a rooftop table next to beautiful French people with my friends. I am a college student on a budget and all 5 dishes and 3 drinks came out to a little less than $50. The staff was so friendly. The food was so fresh. America could never. Would come back to Barcelona for this restaurant specifically.
google avatar

Steph J.

Yelp
After being abroad for the last few weeks, I can honestly say I've had zero to no vegetables with any of my meals. When my poached eggs and toast arrived with half a plate of the vegetables I added on, I nearly cried out of happiness. I thought the 2 euros or so of each add on was going to be sparse and barely there, but it was SO worth the extra. Eggs were poached to perfection, the caramelized onions were sweet and jammy, and the spinach made me feel nourished. Love the space too. It has a community table alongside a couple other single tables. It's bright, airy, and open. I'd definitely say this is worthy of going to if you're in the area.

Yelp
Ferderal Cafe is a nice little spot with a lot of good brunch food and coffee. It's definately a hipster-vibe, bring-a-laptop-and-do-some-work kind of place. I got the eggs benedict with smoked salmon and it was great! The salmon was really flavorful, the eggs weren't as runny as I like them but they were still very good and the seasoning was great. The bread underneath wasn't too crunchy or too soggy. My wife got the mac and cheese and it wasn't bad. However, if it's a representation of its non brunch food, then my guess would be the non-brunch eats are just okay (although the apples in the mac and cheese were a nice spin to the dish). All the ingredients seemed fresh though which is awesome. As for service, the waiter was really nice but the manager/owner(?)/person in charge seemed annoyed that we weren't great in Spanish/Catalan.
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Friendly servers and modern decor, but the hot chocolate isn't the thick European stuff we were in the mood for. I get the feeling that their menu is just as the chocolate was - 100% American, though it had great presentation and excellent foam factor. I am sure the food is better! Update: came back for lunch and am glad I gave it another shot. My Caesar salad with grilled prawns was so delish. The prawns were fresh and flavorful, and the bacon on the salad was a perfect touch. Essentially an excellent salad!
google avatar

Aly M.

Yelp
Service is great and food was delicious! Try milkshakes! Place was quiet .there is 3 floors. Third is a terrace.
google avatar

Shelly S.

Yelp
I got the shashuka and gluten free brownie. It was all amazing!! Gluten free allergy safe!
google avatar

Nadine F.

Yelp
This is a decent place for an upscale, American-style breakfast. When referring back to it later, my mom kept calling it "the Starbucks-y place", so that should give you an idea of the atmosphere. It was on the pricier side for Barcelona, but portions were big. I had a leek and goat cheese omelette. The first few bites were good, but the goat cheese was a strong, blue-cheese type and totally overwhelmed the other flavors. Leeks just aren't a very practical vegetable to put in an omelette, unless you're going to cut them into tiny pieces (which they didn't). They were really difficult to cut, and I ended up having to twirl them around my fork and eat them like spaghetti. The whole meal just felt like a lot of work, and by the end, it wasn't enjoyable. The coffee was good, and I would probably go back just for that if I were in the area, but I wouldn't eat there again.
google avatar

Yvette L.

Yelp
Fresh food clean atmosphere good cappuccino. Had the poached eggs with chorizo and avocado

Connor S.

Yelp
Beautiful cafe tucked in Gothic Quarter. Menus in three language options: Catalan, Spanish, English. Food was amazing, definitely recommend the baked eggs plate. It's a phenomenal twist on a normal omelet dish. The side bread is perfect. Freshly baked and served with almost everything on the menu! Gotta go to Federal Café it will not disappoint.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Great breakfast place, lots of choices for breakfast. Service was friendly, fast and accurate. They serve booze, milkshakes, smoothies, coffee and tea
google avatar

Faye D.

Yelp
We were craving a simple egg breakfast and found this rare in Barcelona, so we were grateful to find this place. The breakfast menu is great and has a variety of items to choose from. We had the parmesan baked eggs (I believe that was the name?), the avocado toast, and scrambled eggs with haloumi. The only upset to our breakfast was the toast that came with the baked eggs and scrambled eggs was hard as a ROCK. It looked so buttery and delicious but we could not cut or chew it for the life of us, so that was disappointing. The avocado toast was served on rye bread which was soft and great. The food was overall very fulfilling without being too heavy. Very nice atmosphere! I recommend going as early as possible because there's not that much seating, so you'll end up at the big communal table with a bunch of people.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Hipster breakfast, just like you'd find in SF. Generous portions of fresh, tasty breakfast food for reasonable prices, decent coffee and respectable wifi. It's very crowded on weekends and peak breakfast times, but otherwise you should be able to easily find a spot. The ground floor has communal tables while the upper two floors and small roof patio have smaller tables. (Honestly, the roof patio seemed like no big deal to me, but everyone seemed hyped on it) Plenty of vegetarian options and everyone spoke enough English to get by.
google avatar

Angie O.

Yelp
Great spot for brunch! The food here is fresh and colorful, and the coffee is divine. Great for people watching, free wifi and in a lovely neighborhood. We visited here twice we liked it so much, despite the brusque service that seems typical for Barcelona.
google avatar

Niki S.

Yelp
Super cute but unbearably slow service. They would have such quicker turnover if their staff could get to the guests in shorter than 20 minutes. Also, you have to pay downstairs, so don't wait around for a check because it will not come. When we walked in, we saw there were several people waiting. We were told it would be 25 minutes, but it was hardly 10. Not sure how they can't estimate that properly. We ordered the croissant with tomato, provolone, and rocket, and the pancakes with bananas, nuts and maple syrup, as well as the lychee iced tea and Tommy's green juice. All excellent. We're thinking of going back again as we know the food is good. I see a review that said this is a "bring your laptop and do some work" kind of space. Please don't do that, especially during hours where the place is busy.

Leslie G.

Yelp
First time in Barcelona and my opinion on Federal Café' breakfast. You get a nice portion for 1. The eggs was porched something I never tried and don't want to start honestly. The spinach, mushrooms, and cheese was good with the toast which was very hard crispy. I wish I had ask for my syrup to be placed on the side because it made my pancakes soggy and it was 3. So I did get through 1.5 before it was mushy. The bananas on the side is good. They was sliced, nothing special. It is a 2 story establishment. I chose to sit on 1st floor. As a guess of 1, my options for sitting was slim. Either in an Open window table or at a table with people with laptops. I chose the table with laptops because I didn't want loose animals begging for my food and I could spread my food out. The food was good, just needed some better choices of how it's prepared... syrup on the side and ask how I prefer my eggs.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
This place was recommended to us, but I'm not completely sure why. There was a long wait in the morning to grab breakfast and we kind of guessed what we were getting. I don't know if they even had an English menu, which is fine since that's not their language, but does make it a bit difficult. Got an omelette that just didn't mean my expectations. My husband got the small pan of egg, bacon, and cheese with toast which was pretty tasty, so I would recommend that. The tea and coffee was a win. It was just a bit overwhelming sitting at the communal table, with people sitting on the window behind you, standing around inside and outside waiting for you to get up and leave. All in all, maybe 3.5 stars. Not bad, just not great (in my opinion of course).
google avatar

L M.

Yelp
Amazing!!! The food was delectable; the staff super friendly; I loved the ambiance; and could get a lot done with their wifi. This has been by far one of my best experiences so far in Barcelona. I highly recommend the place! I loved how although they get busy they never gave the feeling that they want you to rush and leave. So fantastic!
google avatar

Raj K.

Yelp
If I just rated food it would be 5 stars But then the service is very average, the crew almost seems like they don't wanna be there. I was there twice and the lady had a serious case of RBF both times. But the food is great!
google avatar

Nallely A.

Yelp
Amazing!! We went here because we had a great experience in the Federal Cafe in Madrid so we decided to give this location a try since we already knew the food was great. Service here is fast and great. Everyone is friendly. I had the eggs Benedict and they are mouth- watering!!! Definitely recommend. The freshly squeezed orange juice is also a must try. I had tried the eggs spinach in the Madrid location and it was great too. My husband had the eggs with bacon in Madrid really enjoyed it. He tried the breakfast burger here and did not enjoy it as much. Would not recommend as it is very plain. Definitely a must try!
google avatar

Yelp
Very cute place with three levels of seating. Even in mid January sitting on the roof is absolutely beautiful. The French toast is very yum with a tangy flavor. Cute presentation of the food.

Yelp
Clean, Simple, and Quality ingredients are the key words to describe this place. I came here per the recommendations off of Yelp. I oped for the Potato latkes, served with smoked salmon and a dill creme fraiche. Also, for me it just isn't breakfast without an egg; I asked for a sunny side up egg in addition to my dish. The portion was perfect.. not big at all, but enough to feel satisfied at the end of finishing the entire thing. The prices are cheap (6.90€ for my main course, minus the egg), and you can definitely tell everything was fresh. However, the thing was that it was almost too simple. It was simply some fried potato shreds in the shape of a pancake, two slices of salmon, and no seasoning. This dish was begging for a dash of salt, pepper, and maybe even some garlic! My total for the dish, egg, and a glass of OJ put me back abotu 11€. Inexpensive, but nothing outstanding with flavors. The word SIMPLE is the perfect word to describe this place.

Yelp
I love this place. This was the first place we went for Brunch in Barcelona and the (second to last place haha) on our trip. Not too many seats but what they offer is great. About 3-4 window style Seatings on the ledge which is beautiful on a sunny day. Love the idea of the family size table. Coming from the states, specifically NY we don't interact much with ppl but this is good way of being people together. Importantly, the food: fresh and delicious. We had various items and they were all good. Large portions and uhhhh thinking about it right now, I wish I could go back there ! It's more of a hipster vibe then authentic barcelonic vibe so if your looking for that there's plenty of other awesome walk in bakery's for good (what I consider) Barcelona breakfast. Anyway, if your near by or come across a federal cafe enjoy some cafe and a filling breakfast.
google avatar

Matthew W.

Yelp
Was at Federal this morning for a working breakfast. The ambience, drink quality, and people watching were, as always, spectacular. It seems, though, that every single time I order anything, there's always a mixup (sometimes things are forgotten, sometimes things arrive not as you expected). Maybe it has something to do with their mobile ordering equipment? Either way, this morning I ordered chamomile tea and instead got a pot filled with hot water. My friend ordered a croissant, only to not get it (and it was still on our bill when we were leaving). These are small mistakes--they happen to everyone. But every time I make it to Federal, it happens. Something to think about... Either way, I'll keep going back to this sweet spot on Parlament. It's too delicious, too hip, too cool not to! But remember to be memorable for your wait staff...otherwise they might forget you (or your order)!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
We popped in here to refuel after our flight to Barcelona - it came highly recommended by the couple we were staying with. Sadly we missed brunch but the laters menu didn't disappoint. We took a seat downstairs where others were drinking a coffee or working on their laptops. Being an excitable, sun seeking Brummie when I realised there was a terrace I darted upstairs to find the sun trap. I had a Reuben sandwich ( delicious& they also gave me fries after I requested) & Jim had a kangaroo burger which looked moist & was very filling! Prices were a little more than in Poble Sec but seemed about right for the quality of ingredients.
google avatar

Silva S.

Yelp
Each time the experience gets worse - they may be empty but some tables are preciously kept free and they want to bunk everyone onto the communal table. If you want to dine alone, you have to sit at the communal table, if you want to work whilst eating your lunch, again to the communal table. A lot of rules and regulations, I hear a new one each time whether it is explained to me or to other tables. Irony is they may be full for an hour but never for too long. I wouldn't subject myself to this kind of treatment and unprofessionalism even if they served the best food in Barcelona - which they don't! Sorry guys you lost a regular with a big appetite!
