Visited here a few months back…looked new and cool from the outside. Coffee was good, but not that good given the extremely expensive price! I asked for avocado on bread and eggs…. The avocado spread was as thin as paper! It was almost like they had spread the avocado like it was butter, so thin I could plainly see the bread underneath. The bread was your regular white Hovis, no option of sourdough or the usual bread you get with brunch. When the eggs arrived, they were fried, and this may have been my fault for not checking first, but usually, this sort of brunch comes with poached eggs. Though this did not bother me, I was happy for pay for 2 extra poached eggs. I was told they don’t do them?! I was rather shocked to hear that they can’t plop two eggs into a boiling pot… but hey!
Though when I asked for the poached eggs and made it clear that I was happy to pay extra… the server acted like I had requested the strangest thing on earth. I didn’t ask to take the fried eggs back or anything I wouldn’t waste food like that (ever!).
Afterwards, the servers decided to gather by the till, look back at me repeatedly and whisper. Now, as this isn’t something I can verify, I would say it could’ve just been them chatting. But it’s still not the best look?!
Given how many coffee shops there are on Beckenham high at (I think 8) they should atleast offer boiling eggs? Anyways, I ate my food, which was subpar at best. The eggs were so well done, it was like eating rubber.
