On the Grid : Feira Popular

"Stop by this epic mini tivoli, which will give you associations to Banksy's theme park Dismaland located on the opposite side of the Alcantara Train Station. Take a ride in the merry go round, have a game of table football - and eat a snack or two before heading off for a night out. 100% fun." - Relax, we are the good guys

On the Grid : Feira da Ladra

"The Feira da Ladra, which literally translates into “Thieve’s Market”, takes place every Tuesday and Saturday, from dawn to dusk. Despite its name, this flea market is popular for its views of the Panteão Nacional and its friendly atmosphere where people sell all sorts of second-hand clothes, antiques, furniture, books, vinyl records, old cameras, tiles and so on. Take your time to browse and you’ll eventually find a bargain." - v-a

Meh. Fine to stroll around to pass some time but not really worth the hype it’s given. A mix between junk which would be difficult for a tourist to take home, or tat which can be found all over the city. There are a few unique stalls, mainly the art prints and posters which were nice. The best part was a smoothie brought from inside the permanent market area, it was really yummy and healthy.

Definitely liked the Feira da Lada; nice mix of people and the items on sale were quite diverse. Nice location in the Afalma district with some good restaurants right there.

Google
An interesting place, I think it's more for locals, just because I don't find anything useful I can take home. It's a good experience to go and explore what locals tend to buy in these kinds of places. There were a lot of antiques, books, vinyls, movies, souvenirs and many more things.

Fun mix of art, handmade, vintage, antique, and junk - dispersed over a few streets. The building in the middle hosts amazing artist and makers - we bought beautiful one-of-a-kind sun prints and handmade soap. Great place to buy unique Lisbon gifts like canned chocolate sardines or cork accessories. Restaurants available around the market too for lunch, coffee or drinks.

Google
It’s a great and very big flea market in a good location, but as some other reviews have mentioned, some stalls can look very very similar so you’re not sure if you’re getting quality pieces… but if you look hard enough you can find some nice trinkets to have as a souvenir

My husband really wanted to come to this market as it reminded him from description of the ones in London when he was in grad school that he loved. So, we walked over from our hotel (about 25 minutes) and we were not disappointed. This is mostly vintage and antiques but there are some vendors with ceramics, clothing, and art and handmade items. Prices were fair and we were able to find many things to take home to friends and family as well as a few choice finds for our daughter and ourselves. A few vendors were selling snacks and drinks inside the main building.

Google
A great way to spend a morning… lots of vendors to look at. 4/5 because we didn’t end up finding as many desirable things as we would have liked given the size of it!

Sis and I started off super excited to check it out cause of tiktok. You feel awkward and uninvited going into the booths cause is all layed out on the ground. Barely any tables have prices, so it discourages you from asking and leaves you just looking. Found a table with vintage mcdonalds pins. Super cute, very unique. I turn out to be pretty discouraged when at least 10 other booths have the same exact selection. The first mcdonald pin table was truly trying to tell me they were old, assuming I'm a dumb american.. Quick google search, and they're just mass-produced "vintage".. All camera and electronic tables have a very small sign stating just for parts. There were really cool vintage looking lighters shaped like all sorts of things. Super unique Super cool until you see literally 10 other tables with the same variety.. Perfect place for girlies that dont have their frontal lobe yet. If i came here 10 years ago i would've bought the whole place. I'm sure there are truly vintage items lost in there, but there are a lot of suspicious "vintage" items, along with TONS of forgotten about garbage

Yelp
Its a flea market held every Tuesday & Sunday, there were some OK vendors but mostly crap. A lot of people laying out blankets and just dumping their crap out. Although there were vendors there selling tiles and other vintage ceramics. Probably not worth a trip for most people, but if you have seen the major tourist attraction in Lisbon already..... might as well make a trip. That is if you like the HUNT. I didn't find anything particularly fascinating for myself, but since it was only about a block away from my apartment it was no big deal.

Yelp
My brother suggested we check this popular flea market out on the Tuesday we were there (it's only open Tuesdays and Saturdays), so we took the metro from Bairro Alto and walked from the stop. It was supposed to be a very short walk, but Google Maps failed to tell us it was basically all uphill haha I'll be honest - I haven't been to very many flea markets, but this was HUGE! It's all outdoors down multiple streets and down a hill, everything laid out on tables or on blankets on the ground. You could easily spend at least a couple of hours just browsing alone. Some of the stuff is pretty old, so you score some pretty cool vintage stuff in fairly good condition if you take your time to look around. They have something for everyone - trinkets, clothing, accessories, souvenirs, handmade goods, art, electronics, and even some live music. I bought a pair of earrings from a vendor called Rebusca that looked like long leather feathers, but everything is actually vegan and made out of recycled (upcycled) rubber bicycle tires and inner tubes. They also have wallets and belts. Would make great gifts for those who value animal-friendly products and sustainable fashion. Prices can range from super affordable to maybe a little more euros than you'd like to or expect to shell out at a flea market, but depending on what you're looking for, it would likely be worth it for unique, handmade, and/or vintage goods.

Yelp
On a beautiful sunny Saturday with a cool breeze I visited this fabulous, enormous flea market and Santa Clara market to find a silver jewelry artisan, some true antiques, lots of vintage housewares/hardware/tools/plumbing/toys/clothes/furniture/artwork, a bookbinder who had cool lined or artist blank books, a soap & solid body cream maker, and more! Wonderful little restaurants in area too.

Yelp
* (Tuesday and Saturday) Feira da Ladra literally translates as the 'thieves fair.' It is the oldest and the most vibrant flea market in Lisbon, and specializes in antiques and second hand items. Some cool finds but also some junk. Worth exploring. **Where: Campo de Santa Clara, Alfama.

Yelp
It is great place to discover. There are many things that is so beautiful but cheap price. I love this kind of sheet market

Yelp
Very descriptive and true name "Thieves Market". It varies in character, from a few stands selling crafts and touristy items (at a slightly lower price) to many other stands that indeed look like they recently walked out of a home or the other stands that sell "deeply discounted" toiletries like in many "ladra" markets around the world. It is a gorgeous walk through the many many hills of the city to get there where you can stop at some cafes and nice seafood restaurants overlooking the market. Not really looking to buy an eight track, tapes or that slightly broken mug. So mostly a miss if you think this is flea market. It is what it advertises to be. Take a Cabify (3 Euros) from and head to the Timeout Market to experince both worlds.

Yelp
Touted as the best vintage flea market in all of Portugal. Nestled on a hill overlooking the beautiful river, Feira da Ladra certainly lived up to its reputation. With so many different vendors it's easy to see why one would find it virtually impossible to leave this place empty handed. From vintage designer women's and men's clothing, shoes and accessories, furs, vinyl records, homewares, furniature, electronic equipment such as the first cameras and vinyl record players. Loads of vintage and antiques as seen at most flea markets around the world. The variety of items on offer is what really stands out. Although it seems this market is catering more for the tourist, prices are varied. I would personally recommend dressing down and trying not to look like a cashed up tourist, this will hopefully help you get a better deal! And always remember, play the bargaing game. It's fun, and as they say, if you don't ask, you won't receive! Most tourist guides may tell you that the market closes by 2pm, but this is not the case, I was there at 5pm on both Tuesday and Saturday and vendors were still selling. In saying that I would advise you get down there early, 07:30am - 08:30am to get the best deals, particularly on the Tuesday. Address: Campo de Santa Clara, 1100-472 Lisboa Hours: Tuesday and Saturday (dawn to dusk) Website: http://www.cm-lisboa.pt/equipamentos/equipamento/info/feira-da-ladra

Yelp
Absolutely HUGE! Much larger than I initially anticipated. If you like flea markets, you could easily spend a coupla hours here. Vendors varied greatly from garage leftovers tossed on a blanket to legit, quality merchandise in proper display cases. Some stuff was priced, others not, so again, no consistency as per the different sellers. I love thrifting and I would've loved to have found a vintage door-knocker or lovely cotton dress, but no dice. Just people watching and time killing. Would've been great if they had some food vendors there as well to break up the endless stalls, but I always seem to be hungry!

Yelp
This flea market was one of the least exciting I have found anywhere. The prices were high, the goods were junk and the art was of the poorest quality. For a city filled with cool shops, funky design and great food this flea market was a total flop. The hike up was good for my cardio but the walk down was one disappointment after the next, table after table, blanket after blanket, from used tooth brushes to broken tools this flea was not worth a scratch. It was depressing and was a waste of time. No guide books should recommend this. I love fleas but his one is a flea bomb.
