This wasn’t just a bad hotel — it was a deeply uncomfortable and degrading experience, especially as a woman.
From the moment we arrived, things were wrong. There was no proper check-in process — no ID, no paperwork, nothing. We were just sent to our room with no explanation. The hotel grounds smell awful due to animals like donkeys and horses roaming freely — you’re greeted by the stench of manure.
When we got to our room, the key didn’t work, and we had to wait over 30 minutes in suffocating heat, with no functioning air conditioning. They don’t turn on AC in any of the common areas, and it feels like you’re trapped in an oven.
The food was awful — they serve whenever they feel like it, and we were offered rotten fruit with black mold underneath. It was unsafe to eat.
But the most disturbing part was how deeply rooted the cultural hierarchy is — where men are seen as above women, and it’s felt in every interaction. Even as paying guests, we were treated as if our presence was a nuisance. The male staff — especially at the front desk — acted with a disgusting sense of superiority, making it clear they didn’t respect us or feel obligated to help.
This goes far beyond poor service. It felt like women were constantly dismissed, ignored, or talked down to, as if our voices didn’t matter. The front desk manager called us early in the morning screaming, waking us up, only to be completely unprepared when we arrived. There was no apology, no professionalism, just arrogance and control.
The fridge was filthy, covered in a sticky yellow substance. No room service, no sense of hospitality, and no standards of hygiene.
Honestly, this isn’t even a 2-star hotel — it’s a toxic environment. If you are a woman or simply value basic respect and cleanliness, stay far, far away from Fellah Hotel.
