"The BEST Ice Cream in the World On our recent trip to France we had the best ice cream we’ve had. Ever. Anywhere. We chanced on Fenocchio while we were driving along the French Riviera. On probing a couple of locals, we found out that it is something of an institution in Nice. We couldn't shy away from trying it out could we? We found the gelateria easily in Nice’s Old Town. Beware - there are lots of ice cream parlours with similar names in the area. But there is a queue only outside one shop - Fenoccio’s gelateria. We bought a couple of scoops of ice-cream and went back for seconds. Our gluttony did not stop there. For the next four days, we went to Fenoccio’s gelateria every day till it was time to catch the flight back home. That's how good it is. Fenocchio’s ice creams are creamy and intensely flavoured. They have a number of crazy flavours including cactus and dozens of traditional flavours including chocolate, hazelnut, and strawberry. Our favourite was the orange blossom ice cream, a flavour indigenous to the South of France. Make sure you pop in for a scoop (or ten) if you happen to be in the area."

8 Delicious, Weird Ice Cream Flavors to Try in Europe - AFAR

"Fenocchio in Nice offers Swiss chard pie ice cream, inspired by the regional specialty tourte de blettes. The ice cream has an earthy, nutty, and sweet flavor with bitter undertones from the chard." - Chris Ciolli

Google
Best Place to have Ice Creams in Nice Old Town. They've a wide variety of flavors of chocolates, fruits and flowers. Our personal favorites were the unique Flower flavored ice creams such as Lavender & Violet. This place is a must visit when in Nice.

Google
Fantastic gelato! Super popular but they do have a lot of staff so don’t be intimidated by long queue. Orange blossom and chilli Choclate are pretty awesome! We tried a few different flavors and all are amazing.

Deepsikha Majhi

Google
A wide range of flavours are available. We tried avocado n mango. I just loved both pizza. You can explore the old town with a cup of icecream 😊

Google
Expect to wait in the line. The ice cream was amazing. I tried chocolate, orange, blossom, violet, and ginger. All very light and fresh.

Google
I tried lavender and pistachio. Well honestly most gelato in Italty will be better than this! But the lavender flavour was so special and definitely worth a try! pistachio flavour was average and u can skip! luckily u can try one flavour before buying! the line was long but everything was so smooth!

Google
I would agree they have a large variety of ice creams. One thing I did not enjoy was that there was not a proper line up which I guess on a holiday mood is fine. If you value your private space, you may become a bit uncomfortable. I tried Mint Chocolate chips which is my all time favorite but it was just super sweet. No refreshing flavor of mint. The mint ice cream is usually pastel green in color. This was white. But personal were super fast and friendly and were able to speak English.

Google
Such a wide range of flavours! The tiramisu gelato was amazing and the passion fruit sorbet was so refreshing

Google
The big difference compared to any other ice cream shop is that it has so many flavors.

Yelp
Stayed 3 days in Nice and came here every day!! Yes, it was that good! Chocolate Bar (aka Kinder chocolate) - such a beautiful one! I was really surprised how good this was. Google translate said it was a chocolate bar and the person told me it was Kinder flavored. I love ice creams that are more of a vanilla base and have some crunch to it so this was really the perfect one for me. Paired it with the dark chocolate sorbet and it was amazing! As already said before, dark chocolate sorbet was lovely! Quite rich but not too overpoweringly strong and a perfect companion for the Kinder flavor. Cookies - it was like a chocolate base with some stuff inside it but a really good one! Bailey's - you could actually taste the Bailey's flavor here, but not too strong. Just a good gelato with the Bailey's flavor. Fig Sorbet - Dad got this one and seemed to really like it! He also tried the passion fruit sorbet but said it was a little too sour and tangy. Rocher - as my brother said, "it was really nice". Judging from the other flavors I can imagine is probably tasted just like a ferrero rocher chocolate.

Yelp
This is a chain of ice creams. Does not go wrong even once . Friendly staff. This time has the Pecan and walnut , Poppy, Orange blossom, Bubble gum . All were super hit . They had a nice square to sit down and enjoy your ice cream as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Not bad and definitely NOT the best as they like to claim. I think location in front of cathedral leads to their notoriety. There were ice crystals in my serving and the chocolate had funny aftertaste. Lacks silky texture in fine glacier. They only allow one sample taste so maybe I would've liked it more if I had an idea what I was getting.
google avatar

Yelp
I got the Roche ice cream, tasted exactly like the Roche chocolate. They had "millions" of flavors, ice cream and gelatos. This ice cream shop is hundreds of years old, and a must try. They have 2 locations at the entrance of Vieux Nice, one by the church and the other behind Mama Mia restaurent. I plan to try more flavors like "rice milk (lait du riz), olive, pepper chocolate", the weirder flavor, the better.
google avatar

Marlon T.

Yelp
Not Pinocchio, Fenocchio! They have so many flavors and the atmosphere in this little square exudes the need for gelato. There isn't much to say other than this may be the best gelato spot in Nice.
google avatar

LaKisha B.

Yelp
There's a reason why the line is always long. Soft, delicious and flavorful gelato. I ordered a scoop of vanilla and chocolate cookie. Soooo good. I wanted more but your girl is trying to lose some weight, haha. This place is a must to visit if you're ever in Nice!
google avatar

Cole D.

Yelp
Yum! Two scoops with a nice waffle cone for 4€. I got bounty and biscoff. Both were sooo good. So creamy. The bounty tasted like a ton of tiny coconut throughout. The line can get long, but that lets you know it's good. It's right in the church square with the fountain. A violinist was playing near us. A whole mood of a night? The workers seemed busy but did everything right. So many flavors to choose from and about 6 workers scooping. Cool uniforms. I'll be back because there are so many flavors.

Yelp
Great sorbets & glaces. Goyave et cacao sorbet delicious we went back later for more

Yelp
The gelato here is SO good! First off, the flavor options are extremely unique and there are so many! I wish I could try all of them. I first tried there rose flavored gelato and oh my GOD that was the best rose flavored food I've ever had. I love rose but unfortunately the flavors in drinks/foods are really subtle. The gelato was packed with a strong rose flavor and it was amazing. I had to come back and try their lavender gelato, which was equally as pleasant. Not to mention how cheap the prices are! This is definitely a must try if you come to Nice.

Angelica R.

Yelp
Great gelato spot in Nice. Lots of flavor options. My favorite was the violette but lots to choose from.
google avatar

Yelp
Great gelato in the heart of old town! They are crowded, popular, and touristy, but it's still legit and owned by three generations of a family from Nice! There is another location in old town that's much less busy, but it has no outdoor seating. THE WAIT: On a Tuesday afternoon around 3pm, it was crowded, but they had lots of servers helping people out, so it's fast. There's no real "line", just a crowd of people, so you have to kind of go to the front yourself to get a server's attention. FYI you cannot try flavors. THE SERVICE: The staff speaks English but the flavor signs are all in French. THE COST: About 4€ for 2 scoops on a waffle cone. THE FLAVORS: * Chocolat Orangette 4 stars Nice dark chocolate flavor paired with subtle orange; I do wish the orange was more sharp. * Gingembre - 4 stars Also subtle, but authentic. I wanted it to have more spicy kick. There are small ginger pieces in this too! Next time, I want to try the Chocolate Chili!

jaeyoung K.

Yelp
So nice service and recommendations! And nice flavors! Rose, watermelon the best ever
google avatar

Ian C.

Yelp
So many choices for gelato and I picked four of them. And everyone tasted great. At least equal if not even better than the many gelato shops I tried in Italy. Definitely worth a try when you are in the area.
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
Came here three times during our five day stay in Nice. That itself says a lot about this place. They have a selection of your go-to favorites as well as unique flavors such as lavender and earl grey. I had the Nutella, pistachio, rocher, and cappuccino and still have been dreaming about it since I left. The lines may be a bit chaotic and unorganized, but it moves rather quickly.
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
Came here twice while in Nice for 3 days. Not a ton to say that hasn't already been said - just get a server's attention and tell them what you want. No taste testing here, probably because there are so many choices. I had the cherry and chocolate bar and both were delicious. Better than most places in the US for sure. They DO take credit cards so that's an advantage over some other places. I was recommended to go to another ice cream place but it was cash only, so I ended up here and I am not upset about it at all. I'd definitely go back if/when I return to Nice.
google avatar

Slade C.

Yelp
Great gelato, but I kinda don't get the hype. Maybe it's the variety of flavors? Anyway, go for sure, but don't wait in a crazy line; there are lots of equally great gelato spots in Nice.
google avatar

Marco B.

Yelp
Absolutely nice ice creams, you'll be in trouble to choose from the ginormous flavors availability!
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
Always busy and always the best! I always get réglisse riz au lait and Grand Marnier!
google avatar

Leslie H.

Yelp
I was only in Nice for two days so unfortunately only got to hit up this place a couple times but all five flavors that I tried (piña colada, mojito, lychee, passion fruit, lime) totally hit the spot. Definitely try the Mojito, my favorite flavor of all time because it is super refreshing, especially if you find yourself in Nice during a heat wave like I did! Just enough Bacardi to balance out the minty-ness :)
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
We visited the famous Fenocchio at 2 Place Rossetti in Nice. It is a big operation, and they say they have over 90 flavors of ice cream, some pretty unusual. We ordered Crêpe Ras-Le-Bol (banana, chocolate syrup, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, €9.50) and a Crêpe Nutella-Banana (€4). They were good, nothing spectacular. I wouldn't return. Three Stars.
google avatar

Cindy Q.

Yelp
They got lots of different flavors. I got avocado and lavender flavors! Loved both of them! Lavender is on the sweeter side
google avatar

Landon C.

Yelp
Soooo many flavors. One scoop is 2.5€ even if you get a cone. Four cases of gelato, sorbeto...and maybe some sugar or dairy free options...but I wasn't there for that. Service is quick and friendly. Outside seating in the courtyard is available.
google avatar

Erin D.

Yelp
So many flavors! I wish all the signs were translated in English but some have pictures or nuts on top of them so you know what they are. I want to go back to try some of the unique flavors; I saw olive, tomato basil and other savory flavors that caught my eye! There's a long line but it goes by fast, and without organization so pay attention!
google avatar

Elliot H.

Yelp
The place was a bit of a mess at first, there is a huge crowd against a huge pain of glass with about 4-5 workers trying to help anyone. The aggressive get service quicker than the those who take the slow game. However they serve fantastic gelato. Glad we didn't stay in Nice or else I would of been here daily.

J O.

Yelp
IT IS SO GOOD OH MY GOD. So cheap and spectacular. I kept coming back. Get cinnamon (canelle) and vanilla merengue. I wish I could come back to nice just for this ice cream.
google avatar

Leo C.

Yelp
Really really great gelato. The savory flavors that I've tried (caramel, chocolate, creme brulee) border on ice cream in terms of richness. However still retains the lightness of gelato. Friendly and quick service. Decent sized seating area right of the side and tons of standing room in front, on the square. A single scoop serving is 2.5 euro now, not 2.
google avatar

Haley A.

Yelp
Fenocchio was an amazing gelato place. There are multiple locations as well. Unfortunately, no samples are allowed so keep that in mind when choosing flavors. There was no line to order. Everyone went up to the counter once they decided what they wanted and ordered from there. Very reasonably priced! We got big scoops of gelato as well. This is a family owned business for multiple generations, so it felt nice as a tourist eating local as well.
google avatar

Pamela O.

Yelp
Hands down the best Gelato in Nice! It's extremely creamy and delicious. I had two scopes of the Caramel in a waffle cone
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place! Fenocchio is the best place to beat the heat with a little treat of pretty much any flavors you can think of. You can't go wrong! The quality of the gelato and sorbet is superb. There's 3 Fenocchio within the old town of Nice, but this location is located in the Plaza Rossetti. My favorite is their varieties of floral gelato. The Lavender is divine! Get 1 scoop for €2, 2 scoops for €3.80, 3 scoops for €5, or go crazy and go up to 15 scoops for €23!!! Enjoy and go get some gelato already!
google avatar

Tawnie G.

Yelp
It's hard to be objective when it comes to gelato after living in Italy because... Well... Let's face it, it just can't be beat! But, if you can't be in Italy, then this is a great alternative! I received just excellent service the very first time I came here when I asked the woman helping me if she happened to know which flavors didn't contain eggs. Her response was "give me a minute and I'll find out for you." Instead, she showed back up with an entire written list (which I kept with me for my whole month in Nice) of each flavor that did not contain eggs. This definitely kept me coming back... Until I realized if I kept it up, I'd surely gain 5 kilos!
google avatar

Deanna D.

Yelp
Sooooooo many varieties! I loved the fact that they were open late and had some exotic flavours. The sorbet was sweet without being overpowering and tasted like it was the fruit (raspberry was my favourite). I have to say that it tasted even better than some places in Italy.
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
Yes, it lives up to the hype. Why do I say that? Because I literally ate there every day I was on vacation (and I was here for 7 days). My fave was the conficture da lait and the caramel de sale. Good grief, I must have eaten thousands of calories of it (and I don't regret one moment of it). If this place is a little busy, they have a satellite shop about 90 seconds away. It's worth the visit or two or three....
google avatar

Roe W.

Yelp
Didn't realize this was a chain ice cream shop. The presentation was amazing, and although the flavors weren't mind-blowing, it was still very enjoyable. I got salted Caramel, straticella, and mint!
google avatar

Jennie B.

Yelp
Touristy or not, good ice cream is good ice cream. Don't bother searching for other gelato places. Don't be adventurous. I went to five other places while I was in Nice. All paled in comparison.
google avatar

Rodolphe S.

Yelp
Exotic ice cream flavours. This is my grandchildren's favorite spot to go! I absolutely recommend this place.
google avatar

Helen C.

Yelp
100 flavors of ice cream at one of the oldest ice cream establishments? Count me in! So many flavors (no tastes, so choose wisely) - I decided to partake in flavors I can't get in the States, ended up ordering a scoop of gingerbread ice cream, and a scoop of cinnamon cookie (Lotus brand - popular in Europe - have seen them sold at Bed Bath & Beyond) ice cream - SUPER yummy! Husband was sick and needed something to soothe his throat, so ordered 2 scoops of the mint ice cream - (it was good, more gelato-like in its consistency, but still tasty (if you like mint). A must visit when in Nice!
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Fenocchio Glacier was one my favorite food memories in Nice. I enjoyed it on the beach during sunset with one of my great friends during our last days in France. I got three flavors-hazelnut, white chocolate, and rose. This was the start of my infatuation with floral flavors in desserts. It tasted like a rose but in the most appetizing way. The ice cream was creamy, smooth, delicious, and true to its flavor. My friend and I joked that we should have skipped dinner and ordered the 15 scoops of ice cream featured on the price list in order to try all the other wonderful flavors. I remember seeing the some savory flavors like tomato basil. It was intriguing, but not intriguing enough to make my three scoop cut. There are so many flavors that it took me a while to finally choose.
google avatar

Mariela D.

Yelp
Even though Nice in such close proximity to Italy, I did not expect to find such amazing gelato here. Stumbling through the winding streets of Vielle Ville (old town) Nice, I came across one of their many gorgeous plazas and smelled something amazing. I thought it was baked goods until I saw the stand. WHAT. I need that in my life. And 40 flavors? FORTY. Omg, why do I only have one stomach? It's so unfair. I came back more times than I care to admit during my time in Nice, but I distinctly remember the mandarin orange and the lemon meringue flavors being out of this world. It was so hard to decide. And can we just take a minute to talk about the gorgeous Italian men who run this stand? Like ALL of them. They all look like they model underwear on the side. What is this sorcery? Ladies, you're welcome.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
I think the quality of the ice cream here is actually below average, and the price above average, but the thrill is in the 2038572 flavors. I had seven of them: Amaretto, mounds, framboise, cactus, vanille meringue, orange, and coquelicot. Definitely a fun experience, especially on a hot day after hours on the beach.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
There is probably not much I can add that others have not already said. This place is an ice cream lovers paradise. Over 90 flavours on offer and reasonably priced. Ok, the prices are much higher than what I would pay in Munich or in Italy but for this part of France it's ok. I had two flavours Salted Butter Caramel and the Dulce de Leche (please note the French names are different for both ;-)). I absolutely loved both flavours :-) This place is hugely popular and there is a flavour for every taste possible. I thought I had seen the most flavours at a shop in Turin but this place has almost twice as many flavours on offer. Try it when you are in town punkt ;-))
google avatar

Carol K.

Yelp
Can there be anything better than a gelato in a city square on a summery day? I say, no ( or "non" as the locals say) But as we gelato afficionados know- there is only ONE place to get gelato in Nice and that is at Fenocchios. While there are other places in town, they all long to be Fenocchio with its long lines and smiling people behind the counter. Now don't be misled and cut corners to save time waiting in line by heading off to another gelato place across the square. . . . .you will be saddened by your choice. Rather, step up in line, place your order for a "boule" or two (scoop) and pat yourself on the back for making an excellent choice. Coconut is my favorite but with easily over 100 flavors to choose from- order a few "boules" and find your own fav! Tres Bon!
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
It was my mission to try as much gelato as possible on 2 week tour of Europe. This gelato shop seemed to be packed, so I had high hopes. At 4 euros for 2 scoops it isn't a bargain. We chose caramel and tiramisu. The caramel was terrible!! The tiramisu was edible. I'm not sure why it was so busy! Maybe just convenience/location?! We had much better gelato in side alleys at smaller establishments.
google avatar

Sally Z.

Yelp
Very central location with free wifi in the area. As for the ice cream, the texture and quality is above average, but what Fenocchio does really well is their range of flavors. I've tried the nougat, milk flower, and calisson flavors. The first two are really good, but I don't think you can go wrong with any flavor. Get more than one scoop otherwise you'll regret it when you finish your cone.
google avatar

Andrea T.

Yelp
The selection and quality of the ice cream here is phenomenal! And it's not even expensive. We went two nights in a row it was so good. They have every flavor you can imagine, both standard and a bit more bizarre- Sun Dried Tomato, Black Olive, Beer, to name a few. Out of the flavors I tired, I loved the Amaretto and the Cacao the best. Don't go to Nice without visiting Fenocchio. Highly recommend it!
google avatar

Kenneth B.

Yelp
How could anyone give this delicious place less than 5 stars? Thus...5 stars for my three-dip cone last night! In my opinion, reasonable prices for outstanding ice cream: 5 Euros for three scoops of heaven. Walking around the old town part of Nice after dinner, I stumbled upon a well-lit place nearby with a crowd of people drooling over the endless choices here. Creamy, delicious, yum...next time, I might skip dinner and just go for ice cream at Fenocchio!

Matt E.

Yelp
Some of the best gelato I've ever had, and I've eaten gelato up and down Italy. The service is really good. I was helped by the nicest guy, and he spoke English very well. I loved the confecture du lait and giandula. Pistachio was also good.
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
Can we get a sixth star? This place ended each night for us in Nice once we found it. I miss it still. Not only do you have wild and bizarre possibilities, like Olive, Beer, etc., but every variety imaginable, and I'm very imaginative. Each were beyond amazing. It's actually one of the highlights of our visit to France. Better than the Louvre. Okay, maybe only parallel to it, but still... it's an ice cream vendor, and it rates like that. Do visit. Even with my review selling it so high, I expect you'll still be delighted when you taste it, night after night.
google avatar

Chloe Z.

Yelp
Yes solid flavors, BUT you never get a 3+ from me with ****the epitome of rude service ***** I've met very warm and friendly servers in Nice and ive met this chic (see picture I uploaded) She would purposely ignore you, got impatient if you try to ask for suggestions (mind you they have easily 50 flavors), and dropped the bowl on top of the counter that the ice cream almost popped out! Yes that drop was *** LOUD*** why such a lovely ice cream parlor would hire such a grumpy stinker is wayyyyyyy beyond me. No Thanks
google avatar

Justina L.

Yelp
I can understand why this place is so popular, their ice creams and sorbets are amazing! With around 94 different flavours to choose from ranging from normal flavours like peach and passion fruit to exotic ones like cactus and thyme. Every time we pass by this place it's PACKED. We almost have to fight through the crowd to place our orders but the wait is never too long. I would recommend trying as many flavours as possible. 1 scoop starts at 2 euros and I think you can go up to 10+ scoops though not sure how they'll serve that to you o_O All in all this is a great place to visit and I recommend everyone to go. It's located in old Nice so it's a great place to visit after exploring the area.
