Great traditional food at a good price! The restaurant is cosy and the perfect spot to warm up on a cold day. The service was efficient, and the waiter was very friendly. I definitely recommend this place!

The location is great, pretty close to the station. We ordered goulash and pork steak and they were both tasty. It was nice to try Czech dish on the first day of the travel. The staff was very nice and spoke English enough for us to communicate. Next time I would like to try a beverage Grog, which I have no idea about..

I've known this place for about 15 years and its beef goulash is among the top 3 in the whole state. I also recommend the pork knee, it's huuuuuge. Despite being crowded and in the center of tourism they have a humble attitude towards service. Both branches have high standards in regards of beer and food.

The Chorizo and onions for aperitif was sour and not so spicy ( tho in the menu card says it should be spicy..) Grilled sirloin w pepper sauce soooo tender and in Medium rare. Pork with honey sauce and spicy apricot was fine ( the pork was lil dry..), but it was a nice experience to eat pork with apricot! Prices : 820kr /2pp

This restaurant is outside the main tourist area. Local food is served there. The food was ok but the quality of the meat was so so. I ordered "grilled roast beef" which I received as a large and thick piece. It was not easy to cut it into smaller pieces and the meat was hard to chew unless you cut it into small pieces. The sauce, fries, salad were good.

Great place. Loved the beer and the food was very nice. Big portions very tasty. They have something called 'needles', which are in fact skewers... which were very nice The staff were friendly and food came quickly. Good value for money I would say. We had the Pork slice on honey, grilled pork steak with mushrooms and cheese and the pork needles.

Goulash lovely. Weird desert but just as nice. Unfortunately no pictures as did not have phone. Monday evening so quiet. Service good.

(June 2008) Looks a little out of the way on the map but in reality is only 5 minutes off the tourist trail and, as Chris (voota) has pointed out very close to the train station. 5 house beers on tap and all under 30ck for 500ml. Gotta love a pub that charges some 50% less for beer than a crappy coke. I liked the modern fitout of this cellar bar, a look you don’t often see in this part of the world. Didn’t eat but the menu looked very well priced with nearly all dishes under 150ck. I’d come here before a bunch of higher profile places.

Yelp
I came for lunch with a friend right when it opened at 11 and it was already practically packed. I got the chicken lunch special and it ended up being perfect in every way possible: portion, taste, and authentic taste. They seem to specialize in pork dishes but I had been eating way too much pork and wanted to ease up a bit...so I went with the safe choice: chicken. After ordering, I immediately regretted it because I thought it would be too basic of a choice. It ended up being harmless worry because it was delicious. I also tried my friend's potato pancake dish and it was also excellent. That one is a bit more traditional though and in hindsight, I could not have eaten an entire dish of it-so beware! When people say the food is inexpensive, they mean it. For such high quality food, I was amazed at the check prices and debated getting some food to take home.

Yelp
Pros: -- Inexpensive, good, Czech dishes. -- Broad menu choices, so if pork and starch aren't what you're after, you can find plenty of other items. I had the Greek salad. -- Enjoyed the service: nary a smile, but attentive and thoughtful, in a Slavic kind of way. -- Basic but charming atmosphere. Cons: -- If you want a grinning, cheerful server, go somewhere else. But the service isn't rude, it's just cultural. Summary: I'd go back and try other dishes anytime. Like the leg of pork for (if I recall) Kč1,300 that could feed a family of 10.

Yelp
Great food at unbeatable prices, broad selection. Pork and beer are the specialties. The goulash is very tasty. We went to two location, on both sides of the river and were totally satisfied. On Sept 10 after dinner, I left my bag there and the waiter on the 2nd floor ran out to the street to give it to me.

Yelp
The meal was just ok. A bit expensive considering the quality. The have a micro-brewery and the beer is good.

Yelp
Great cheap food and drink - basic but excellent. Czech dishes all good, service attentive but not intrusive. Frankly for the price you can't really get much better than this!

Yelp
Great place for local food! The service was great but for North Americans it's more serious, not bubbly and chatty but who cares when you have a huge leg of pork in front of you with all the fixings! We went for a late lunch so we were hungry and ended up with the platter and some beers. It's a meal for a lot of people and to sit around and visit. We would definitely go back to try other items. It's a great location to, just off the main area.

Yelp
So.... - There was a hair on my friend's tomato. - They have and charge us for fries that we never ordered (and were never asked if we wanted fries so we assumed it was part of the meal!). Plus, the fries were kinda wet. He really enjoyed the steak, though. - None a single smile was given. - That was the worse goulash I ever had. I left the restaurant being still so hungry (hello, I'm a tiny girl, that is not normal). It was tasteless. So disappointing. And there was 4 tiny piece of meat only. - Our appetizer (pickled cheese) was boring: Camembert with what I only assumed being a while sliced onion on top of it. I do not recommend that place at all.

Yelp
I figured out I will share my opinion on this restaurant with my fellow Yelpers! Three years ago, when I started attending university nearby, I was looking for a place to eat my lunch everyday. This might seem as a simple task, because in Prague there are literally thousands of different restaurants to choose from - well, not really. As my student budget isn`t particularly big I desperately needed some place to eat lunch under 100 crowns. Also, time between classes isn`t the longest, thus I can`t afford to wait some 15-20 minutes for a meal. I tried multiple restaurants in the local area until I found Ferdinanda and most of them do not have such a wide variety of ready made meals that land on your table in the matter of seconds - you can usually choose from 2 soups and 5 to 6 meals (where at least one of them is vegetarian) all between 80-110 crowns (under 4 euros). What I also like is that the premises are quite big, therefore it happens to me less than rarely that I would have to wait for a table. There are two floors - downstairs, where you can smoke and smoking-free upstairs. Now, when I know my afternoon lecture is going to be boring as fudge, I usually get a beer with my meal - the advantage of this restaurant is that they have their own beer "Ferdinand" which is slightly less expensive than usual brands you would expect to get in a typical Czech restaurant, but very nice. My personal favourite is "7 kulí" - dark, rich beer that helps you to digest even the biggest meal. To summarise all this, Ferdinanda is a place right next to Wenceslas square in the heart of Prague with affordable prices (for lunch menu - that is unfortunately available only in Czech language), great beer and fast service. Food tastes nice if you like Czech cuisine and imho it is far better than any other similar restaurants around - and trust, I did my research :) If you would be interested, with my classmates we are mapping quality, affordable restaurant like Ferdinanda in Prague - check out our "Survival Guide" blog at http://spaghettinketchup.wix.com/spaghettinketchup#!survival-guide/c1oaw
