Ferncliff Bungalow

What a lovely place. We arrived to a warm welcome from Bernard with the best coffee I've had since arriving in Sri Lanka. A large colonial bungalow sympathetically maintained with high-class ensuites.||Set in stunning gardens at the top of town with a short walk to all the things. Dinner was served in a lovely bay windowed room with a log fire and attentive but discreet service. ||I could not recommend Ferncliff more. We stayed one night as part of a tour. Will definitely try and come back some time.||Thanks Bernard and Ferncliff.

I had an amazing stay with my mother for two nights in this amazing villa. As I was leaving to study abroad this was a perfect getaway to spend some quality time with my mom. We were greeted with amazing service from the staff. The rooms were beautiful and cozy, the bungalow is situated around a beautiful forest and garden and blessed with many birds in the mornings. The food was also incredible, a beautiful selection of mouth watering selections ranging from pizzas to lumprais (must try). Overall amazing 10/10 experience and worth every penny.

What a wonderful getaway at Ferncliff. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet within walking distance of all the major activities in Nuwara Eliya. The British colonial-style house, which retains the the charm of an era gone by, was more than what we expected after a long journey around the island. The hospitality and the cuisine was the best, bar none.

This place was like something out of a history novel! A beautiful old villa steeped in history and lovingly restored. Beautiful grounds overlooking the hills of Nuwara Eliya. Every room is different and tells a story; all very spacious with fabulous amenities. Staff were very happy to talk about the property. We had dinner in which we ordered on check in. Not a huge selection but everyone loved their meals. Also loved that there was a fire roaring in the dining room while we are ate! Choice of Sri Lankan or western breakfast. No fridge in your room but they offered to store items for you if needed. Woke in the morning feeling very privileged to have stayed here.

In short, Hidden Ferncliff Bungalow is the perfect mountain getaway—rich in history, great food, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sri Lanka’s hill country!

This beautiful homestead was a privilege to stay at. Huge rooms; all beautifully restored. Lots of history in the house with supporting photos and articles. Lovely grounds. We had dinner and breakfast in, both of which were fabulous. Staff were discreet but always present if you need anything.
