We turned up at lunchtime, sweaty and hot from our bike ride but the staff were lovely, overlooking our filthy (and probably smelly) conditions.
We ordered the set menu. At 1450Ru each it was the most expensive meal we've had in Mauritius, but the quality of the food and the presentation was excellent. There was a lot of food!
I was delighted to see water in biodegradable bottles. A basket of bread rolls arrived with butter and some tasty but unknown paste.
Our 'snacks' of samosas and other deep fried delights were very good, but I felt a little rushed when our smoked fish salad arrived almost at once. I wanted to savour the excellent food. Better to leave a gap between courses. For mains I had the dry venison curry and my husband the wild boar. Both were delicious. I asked for the menu back so I could identify the various items which accompanied our meal, but the descriptions didn't quite match what we got. Don't get me wrong, we loved it all, and it may have been a translation issue to English, but for people with allergies it might be an issue if items are substituted (lentil side dish for instance wasn't mentioned at all, nor the poppadom).
Dessert lived up to the rest of the meal, being fresh and nicely balanced flavourwise.
Two things which i'd like to see are fans inside the building - in summer, even with all the doors and windows open there was little breeze - and the wooden chairs, though beautiful, are hard on the rear which is a shame as, again, I wanted to take time to savour my meal.
All in all a great experience which I'd love to repeat if we get to return to Mauritius.
