High on the list of must seems for many is this fish market in a church style. Nice architecture and the fresh food is clear and looks amazing. Lots of places to eat and drink. Be wary though that the front of house person doesn't know the availability of seats in the different restaurants. And the queue to see them can be long. Would still recommend though as is just an experience to have

What a great treat. If you enjoy seafood, this is a must-see site. We sat outside in the seating area, which had a QR code menu and service, making it easy and hassle-free. The staff is attentive. The whole place is truly historical and serves delicious seafood at very reasonable prices. Two beers and two lobster rolls (delicious) cost less than fifty quid. I believe it was a bargain.

A friend recommended the Haga area as worth visiting. I came to taste the seafood market with high reviews on Google! There will be a receptionist to take you to your seat when you enter the door. There are not many lunch options! But it is enough to satisfy my appetite😋

Of course, it's not the cheapest place in Europe, but what a delight it is to sit by the canal on a sunny day, savoring wine and oysters with a breathtaking view. It's worth every moment. There are plenty of spots to enjoy fresh seafood, and I highly recommend it. After all, we only live once.

If you're in this city I recommend you go here and have some fish or drink. Tried quite a lot of dishes-so delicious and had a drink, very refreshing, especially the pineapple cocktail. Beautiful inside and has a good, relaxed vibe. Also looks good on the outside from up close or up far

A heavenly place for seafood lovers! The Feskekôrka (“Fish Church”) is a seafood market that is an absolute must-visit. The market is housed in a beautiful church-like building and the design is as much a feast for the eyes as the food is for the palate. Inside, there are stalls upon stalls of fresh fish, oysters, and local specialties. We had dinner here and it was absolutely divine. The fish was cooked to perfection, fresh, and full of flavor. It was served with seasonal vegetables and herbs that complemented the fish without overpowering it. You can taste the love and tradition that goes into each dish. The atmosphere is lively but not stuffy, part historic food hall and part cozy restaurant. If you’re a seafood lover or just want to try the best of Gothenburg’s coastal cuisine, this is the place to be. 👉🏽A must-visit if you want to taste the soul of Gothenburg on a plate.

We read many things about the story of this place, and also was recommended by our tourist guide. Fresh fish, nice atmosphere, and even better the service . I tried a fish cake.. something like that and was incredible good and the marinated fish..wow. I paid £7 for two things..so seemed a bit expensive but is worth it the taste and the experience 👍

Highly recommended. I am not a sea food lover, but this place had very high quality dishes. We had early dinner here, and tried freshly catched fish from that day, fried in butter.

After Oslo, Norway, our next destination was Gothenburg, Sweden. We stumbled across this place by our lovely tour guide. This is an amazing decor as it is dubbed The Fish Church. Walking in, we can see there are a few seafood merchants and some restaurants. We were seated immediately and ordered 1 traditional catch of the day and another one baked fish of the day. I believe the baked fish was the haddock which came with bacon bits swimming on a bed of mash potatoes and amazing gravy sauce. The other order was for a different type of fish over a creamy pea sauce. Both these fishes were absolutely divine and fresh. We also got a herring to start and given this was our first time trying, absolutely loved it. The fish wasn't mushy at all and had a nice full bite to it. All the orders came with small salad and choice of tap water or coffee. Highly recommended.

The fish church is awesome. It recently underwent a major renovation that took four years to complete. From what I understand they had to jack the building up because it was sinking. I visited nine years ago and back then the larger portion of the building was dedicated to fish/seafood merchants. They were also a couple of restaurants. Now it is the reverse. There are two merchants and five restaurants. We picked one that focused on seafood. There were four of us. Our waitress helped us with our order. We had two seafood platters and added a half-lobster to each platter. We wanted crab claws also but our server said they were out when we initially sat down. I mentioned that I was hoping they had some but understood that everything was limited to what was freshly caught that day. With that she went and double checked, and to my happy relief they still had a few. Everything we ate was fantastic as expected!

We went to the nice restaurant that is up the stairs - make a reservation!!! We lucked out by getting the last three barstools at the bar but many people got turned away due to reservations. We came on a rainy Friday at about 1pm and they were completely packed. We ordered an array of the dishes, I had the creamy fish bake, a traditional bake of the fish with cream, and the lemon halibut was another favorite. The food is incredibly rich, traditional, and of course mostly seafood. They will explain the menu in English if you ask! The service was a bit slow and took about 20 minutes at least to come out, but the servers were friendly.

Definitely worth the visit! They have an abundant variety of fish of course. I saw many with small containers of seafood salad and baguettes having a picnic outside. Also, some restaurants- a couple downstairs and one upstairs. I ended up eating at Restaurang Gabriel on the second level and had an excellent lunch.

I love fish markets! There are quite a lot of options here, with cooked seafood, raw seafood, seafood salads, etc. I ended up getting smoked salmon (my favorite! So tender, chewy, and fresh, and a nice smoky flavor), shrimp (seems like they were just boiled, but they were also very fresh), and marinated fish (slightly salty, but still good!). Yum! The building is also quite interestingly shaped. There aren't any places to sit inside to eat, but there are wooden tables and benches outside to enjoy a fresh seafood meal!

You can't make a stop in Gothenburg and not go to Feskekôrka. It's a small fish market in the outskirts of downtown Gothenburg. We bought the smoked shrimp, smoked salmon and smoked makrill, got it all in little paper bags and sat on the benches outside to eat it all. It was good. The salmon was a bit dry, almost over smoked, but still full of flavors. I'm not a big "shrimp" person, but I like it when they're packed with flavors and/or smoked. :) Baby J liked it too, but there was no surprise there. Would get a 4 star, but unfortunately the oversmoked salmon brings it down one star.

I'd heard a lot of great things about this place in my 3 month stay in Gothenburg, and in my last week I decided to finally give it a try. While the fish there was not half bad, it just did not live up to my expectations after all of the hype. Another review said that the salmon they got was dry and oversmoked. Seems to be the case here all the time, as my salmon was quite dry and oversmoked as well. I also bought a shrimp and mushroom stuffed crepe. For 35 sek it was a bit overpriced, but the flavor was quite good. There are multiple counters/cafes/restaurants(?) inside this fish market, and almost all of them have outrageous prices. Every menu item is upwards of 150-200 sek. The fish sold here is definitely fresh, and the range is quite large as well. They even have some scary deep sea fish for sale. Overall, I wouldn't make this place a "regular" shopping spot for fish, but definitely worth crossing of the "Gothenburg bucket list"

Worst crab ever. Cold and empty. We did.not try others. I think the.shrimp salad may be good as many local people buy it.

It was crayfish season when we visited, and everything sold here is wonderful. A great thing to do is ask for two shrimp and crayfish salads with bread, and do as the locals do: eat outside on the benches, looking over the canal. The deli section looked delicious, with all sellers doing a brisk trade. Would have gone more times, but sadly, they are shut on Mondays and Sundays.

Delicious! Just be aware they're closed on Sunday and Monday. I had a lobster and shrimp roll that was very fresh and tasty. In addition, I tried a couple of the herring dishes: pickled with onions and a mustard one. The best idea is to get a variety of items with some bread and share!!

Fresh seafood market! I would buy fish every week if I live close! I tried salmon platter and fish soup. They were saltier side, but loved the fish egg dressing and garlic dressing. They can heat up the prepared dish for you that was a nice touch.

Feskekôrka or fish Church is a spectacular place to visit for seafood lovers. It's an indoor seafood market housed in a historic building that resembles a gothic church. The cleanest and the most beautifully displayed seafood market I've been in, the smell of fresh seafood is simply intoxicating. I was drooling over display case upon case of bright red sweet shrimps, langoustines, giant crabs cut in half so you can see those roes, smoked fish, fresh fish, oysters, it goes on and on. There is a restaurant upstairs, but I haven't tried. I wish there were a place like that in my hometown. Please go and visit if you are in Goteborg. Very easy to find, in downtown area, by the canal of Rosenlund. The building is easily recognizable.

Best place to buy fish in Gothenburg. A couple of little eateries here too. Upstairs was quite good. I'll try the other two
