The Festival of Lights has been our family tradition for 15 years. We lived in Provo for 14 years and would visit every year. We moved to Riverton and we decided the 1 hr drive would be worth it. I purchased the online tickets. I chose the 6pm time for today Thursday, Dec. 11 when tickets first went on sale. There were two accidents on the freeway on our way. This year we were surprised that there was little to no wait. We only had 5 or 6 cars ahead of us at the booth. When we came to the booth the lady looked at our ticket and asked what time it said. It was now 7pm and my ticket said 6pm. She said, “ You missed your window but I guess it’s ok.” I said,” We came from Riverton because the lights are worth it.” She gave me an annoyed look and the lady with black spiky hair also gave me an annoyed look. I left there stand feeling sick to my stomach. There was no wait and they even warn you that just because your ticket says a time does not mean you will be entering the park at that time. We usually wait a good hour in line before getting to the booth. I honestly did not think an hour late would cause a problem. In the past we have not been late. I am all about being on time for things. This situation was out of our control. I am just sad they had to act like that. It made it hard to enjoy the lights. Usually the ladies in the booth are so cheery and add to the Christmas spirit felt while visiting. I am not sure we will make the effort next year. Thank you for all the work that goes into putting up all the lights and decorations. It truly is a beautiful light display. We have enjoyed seeing the new displays and where they have put all the displays. My four children will always have memories of visiting these lights each year. It is Christmas after all, try to show kindness to others. It is amazing what a smile can do.
