Events and Festivals in Berlin

"Founded in 2004 by a local events agency, the Festival of Lights is now one of the city’s most popular events and one of the largest of its kind in the world. The concept is startlingly simple but effective: Every October, a slew of iconic sights — including the Brandenburg Gate, the TV Tower on Alexanderplatz, the Berliner Dom (Cathedral), and the Gendarmenmarkt — are transformed into a sea of color and light via creative projections, 3D artworks, and installations. There are associated art and cultural events throughout the festival, too, and even an annual photo competition open to the public. When: October" - MATADOR_NETWORK

Great during the pandemic as you stay inside your car. It takes about 10-20 min to slowly go around the area. Overall a little neat but nothing worth driving 50 minutes for. We went right as the sun went down at 5pm but it wasn't opened until 6pm. Entry fee is 8 per small vehicle. They let us in slightly early at around 5:20pm.

It was a great display of lights and I enjoyed it. Fun little tradition. For the cost compared to something like Luminaria at Thanksgiving point it was a great deal and enjoyable. Not a completely awe inspiring display, but overall really fun. I would go again.

Very cute, pandemic friendly way to spend time with your family. It was about a 30 minute wait to get in and it cost $8 per vehicle, but it was well worth it. I’ve been here loads in the last couple of decades but my husband and step children had never been and they really enjoyed it. Some of the displays were new, others I’ve seen in the past, but it was still very fun and beautiful! It really helped things to feel more like Christmas! Can’t wait to go again next year

Visited the Festival of Lights during Christmas 2021 and it was pretty and free. Being downtown makes it a good date activity.

Wonderful Christmas lights show in Spanish Fork. There were tons of creative and unique designs and scenes, not to mention all the beautifully decorated trees and tunnels. It took us about ~15 minutes to drive through the whole thing. Only downside was the traffic, coming off the highway, cars were backed up for close to a mile. Luckily Google navigation had us turn before the signs tell you to, and we got much closer to the entrance, then just had to wait for someone to let us turn right on front of them. Total wait time to get in to the event, then get back to the highway coming out of the event, was about a half hour. Cost was $8 per car, felt slightly steep, but the kids enjoyed it, as did my wife and I. I will include a few photos from our trip through.

Honestly exceeded my expectations. Considering it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the other similar drive through lights here in Utah, I thought maybe that meant sacrificing quality, but I was WRONG! It was so incredible and was so perfect for our little college family to be able to afford. There was a line to enter, but it moved SO FAST! I'm telling you, this is beyond worth it and if we stay in Utah after we graduate, we will make Festival of Lights a yearly tradition!

It’s not even Christmas if you don’t see the Festival of Lights. We go every year, it’s a cheap (only $11 per car) and fun thing to do during the Holidays. My family would go every year for family night, but it’s also fun to go with larger groups of people and hook a trailer on the back (I think it’s only $22 bucks for a truck and trailer?) P.S. if you go earlier in the season, they let you loop around and see it twice 😊

Fun Family Activity. $8 per vehicle in winter 2020/21. Visited on 12/22/20. Waited about 30 mins for entry. Our toddler loved it. Tune your radio to the suggested FM Christmas Station recommended, also played on outdoor speakers throughout the display. A few light tunnels/archways to drive through, as well as moving displays, including a waving santa, galloping reindeer, flying birds, dancing penguins, jumping skiers, leaping frogs, and the like. A fun activity for all of the family. Note: this is not a light display you can walk around, you remain in your vehicle throughout. Traffic lined up before entryway on right-hand-side of street, allowing through traffic to pass. Enjoy!
