Me and my boyfriend came here before wicked last night not knowing what to expect. We had a prepaid set menu voucher and I was extremely impressed. The waitress was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble and the food was amazing! Highly recommend!

This restaurant has the potential to be brilliant and certainly receives a good deal of hype in the press. It's almost never open for dinner, so we had looked forward to this visit for a while! Unfortunately it ended up being a bit of a shambles. We booked a table at 1800 for a 1930 show, which we thought to be ample time for two courses. We were seated on time but our first contact with waiting staff was 45 minutes later. Drinks and starters came at 1900. Mains then at 1920. The bream was completely bland, the lamb loin tiny and the chicken seemed like it had been taken from a ready meal. Waiting staff were apologetic and the two stars given here reflect the discount on our bill as a result of the delay. On the plus side the dining room is a lovely mix of traditional white tablecloth class and contemporary design, and the wine list fairly priced. A well-aimed cattle prod in the direction of the kitchen and management might sort this place out, as well as a few more waiters!

We arrived at 6.01PM with a table booked for 6.00 as part of a package with the theatre. We were told we were late & our table had gone..we were astonished...we complained. She said "come on".. (our fault and said the table was for 5.30). We then checked our ticket which had 6.00PM clearly printed which we showed her... She largely ignored this and didn't apologise. Service appalling, attitude of staff lamentable, food average & small portions with inflated prices. Lacking atmosphere.

I had a meal on Friday night because I had previously had a very good experience at the restaurant, but this time it was very different. We were not allowed to sit in the restaurant, we had to have our meal in the bar, where there was a large group of Friday night drinkers who were getting louder and louder as the evening went on. I am slightly deaf anyway, so my mum and I couldn't wait to leave, and have no intentions of going back.

I give four stars because the food is excellent! I didn't get the experience of being served with care or attention. The staff is "to busy " . They forgot to come to take the order and we run out time. We almost late to the show. They're not looking to the client and they "run " soon after they're put the food on the table. We will like to come back but we are afraid to get the same experience with the service.

Last year we enjoyed a very pleasant pre theatre dinner at ffresh. This evening's experience was very different. Nothing dire but a series of disappointments. On arriving we entered the restaurant but were told our table was in the bar as the restaurant was being used as a cabaret venue. Not a disaster but a little disappointing. The menu was the next little disappointment. In place of the a la carte menu which had been such a pleasure last year there was a very limited choice, apparently a Matilda themed menu aimed at children. Nothing against that per se but the venue's website could have warned us instead of tempting us with the chef's Michelin star restaurant experience. Home made burgers was another claim on the website but if my partner's burger was homemade I'm a Dutchman. Ok, time to forget the experience and move on, next time we come to Cardiff we'll eat somewhere else.

We enjoyed a set of three course menu . The salmon tartare was good . The lamb dish was amazing . The raspberry brûlée was succulent . My hubby had the blue cheese salad for starter . The fish was abit dull in taste . The gnocchis had too much peas . The almond and apple cake were okay . The portion are generous though and friendly staff . Service was good .

A set menu with limited but good choices and very good food. Open 5pm to about 7.30 and tailored to the times of shows and concerts in the Millennium Centre. Pleasant atmosphere and views of Mermaid Quay.

Yelp
Note: this review is about the Ffresh restaurant - which has an accompanying lounge bar (which some of the other reviews here refer to). Welsh cuisine made by an award-winning chef using quality ingredients, served up by friendly staff at one of the capital's finest modern landmark venues. What more could you want? The décor is stylish and contemporary, in keeping with its surroundings, and the menu changes from day to day because they use seasonal and locally-sourced produce. To give you an idea of the sort of food you can expect, however, their approach to cooking is based on the notion that great ingredients don't require fancy dishes, because they speak for themselves. With that in mind, the chef cooks up some delicious but simple fare - my friend had Brecon venison sausages with mash, which he wolfed down enthusiastically, while I had duck with sautéed potatoes. I haven't tried their desserts, although there was a slightly odd-sounding peanut butter and jelly cheesecake on the menu when I dined there (surely I didn't dream that?). Thanks to its location within the Wales Millennium Centre, the Ffresh restaurant is perfect for pre-theatre dining.

Yelp
Situated at the ground floor of the Wales Millennium Centre, this cafe is f'ing fresh actually no that just it's name Ffresh Cafe. The food on offer is a mixture of light drinks, sandwiches, panini's and various other cold items. Ffresh is just over priced and that just because of the location, good if you want a snack before a performance in the millennium centre put don't go out of your way it won't blow you away. Friendly staff with very standard seating and outdoor metal chairs & tables for the sunny days and the smokers among us. I really feel they could do better especially in the outdoor seating I really don't enjoy metal chairs.

Yelp
Ffresh is the lounge bar situated in the Millennium Centre. It's already an impressive building but tucked away inside this wonderful little place offers an impressive lunch as well dinner and drinks made with fresh local ingredients. They get brownie points from me for creating a gorgeous selection of vegetarian lunch items. The menu is seasonal so of course it's useless me telling you what I had but the mushroom risotto with truffle oil was absolutely stunning. The staff are warm and efficient and you're wrapped up in a really friendly atmosphere. This a great for that pre show dinner but easily stands out as a brilliant little restaurant regardless of the occasion.

Yelp
Being in the beautiful Millennium Centre, Ffresh is it's cafeteria. They do some great Panini's in there as I had a bacon and chicken one. The really friendly staff cooked it up for me in a matter of minutes and proceeded to drain my wallet way more than I would've of liked for a Coke and Panini. There is a lovely view inside our out and is one of the better cafes to go in that sense.

Yelp
Okay, to explain the double 'f'... *cracks knuckles* In the Welsh alphabet a single 'f' is pronounced like a 'v', while 'ff' if pronounced 'f'. So Ffresh is just simply 'fresh', not 'f-fresh' as I've heard on occasion! Glad we cleared that up! Now, the cafe itself is rather standard, but it's turned into something far more interesting by its positioning with the Wales Millennium Centre. Although this place does have a tendency to be a tad on the expensive side, the staff are lovely enough to make you almost not care. It must be in their training or something. This is a good place to come with children before or after a show, as some of the other cafes/bars may be a bit mature for them. None of you will be disappointed by the standard of the food though. Plus, they do a great cup of tea. Honestly, it was so perfect I went back and told them.

Yelp
A very good restaurant near the Cardiff waterfront. I was visiting for two days and went here for dinner with three friends. The place was empty which is a shame because our food was very good. The highlight was the chocolate dessert, one of the best that I have ever had. It was amazing. Great service and beautiful atmosphere.

Yelp
Really enjoyed sitting out and watching the world go by at this place. Prices were cheaper than other places in the area and they had a reasonable choice of beer.

Yelp
Our party of five dined at Ffresh on a Saturday night, expecting to find ourselves in a vibrant and busy environment. Instead, the atmosphere was rather muted and the place relatively unoccupied. While I can't fault the quality of the food or the general demeanour of the staff, the service on the whole was underwhelming. We were attended to by a different member of staff, which meant that there was no degree of personal interaction at all. Drinks had to be ordered twice, sometimes not being served as requested; side orders were forgotten, so ended up arriving when we'd virtually finished our main courses, and no one asked about our dining experience or greeted us as we left. This was surprising, given that staff were in plentiful supply, although they generally congregated around the counter and chatted among themselves. While the staff were friendly, there was obviously no arrangement of their duties, which I can only put down to inadequate management. And, given the prices charged for a decent meal (but no better), I don't think we'll be paying a repeat visit.

Yelp
Fantastic dinner in ffresh and a great bar which was revamped at the start of the year. Nice surroundings, value for money food using local ingredients. It was a great my partner had the set menu and I went a la carte. Really good food well presented and I couldn't get over the price. Also, if you join the buildings friends scheme you can get 20% of the bill every time. They have a regular monthly music night in the bar, reasonable priced good house wine, regular guest chef nights where they bring in a star chef plus you can go any time as its open Tuesday through Sunday. I just thought it was pre tehatre but its open from 10am and has free wifi. I spotted it because its going to be in teh 2012 Good Food Guide, if you haven't tried then get down there.
