Small but informative museum that has a nice collection of artifacts and information that added substantial historical context to our trip. This especially thanks to Robert who is awesome and is a human encyclopedia when it comes to Vieques as well as an enthusiastic conservationist. We learned a lot about the evolution of Vieques culturally, economically and ecologically. I would’ve liked to have made this my first stop on the trip, and recommend it that way.
They are always working on bettering their displays and welcome public feedback! So if you are highly opinionated on museum display, marketing, or have a great display idea, they are taking notes. The mini aquarium is neat. They do catch and release and rotate the types of fish and crustacean they have. The arrow crab is pretty cute. They also have a real live mangrove tree that they’ve been growing for 17yrs. Cool because you can see it up close and learn a little more about these protected species.
