"There's no shortage of great eateries in the New Zealand capital—reputedly Wellington has more cafés and restaurants per person than New York City—and Field & Green is a popular option for the city's discerning diners. With a versatile menu bylined European Soul Food, it promises ever-changing weekly dishes that could include house-made pasta with wild mushrooms and blue cheese, or baked eggs with spicy lentils and mint yogurt. These hearty but sophisticated flavors are the ideal sustenance for daytime explorations of the city's harbor attractions, and the good-value, Wednesdays-to-Saturdays three-course supper menu can be partnered with local Wellington craft beers or New Zealand wines."

Update: 27/05/2023 Had their proper brunch menu this time. The Red Leicester Scone was so good we ordered a second one. Had the Welsh Rarebit. Very tasty. Just wished the toast was a bit more toasted. The B'silla was so hearty and flavourful and every mouthful, I could feel the chicken and Almond textures all bursting with flavours in my mouth. The pie pastry was super crispy. Loved it. The Fish Finger Brioche was also super yums and Fish was perfectly crispy-battered, paired with the fluffy brioche - so gooood!! And then we had the Orange Treacle which was super decadent. Very satisfying meal indeed. This was one of my Wellington on A Plate journey. And was disappointed they took the Moroccon Lamb off the menu because their suppliers couldn't supply. I tried the: Algerian Lamb Pastry. This was really good. Crispy, flaky pastry loaded with Minced Lamb. Also had the Tunisian Fish Balls. Had to say while it was good, this dish was overly salty. Winner was the Algerian Aniseed Bread. Served warm, it melted in my mouth. I just wished they served this with butter. But the WOAP menu doesn't do butter on the side apparently.

We've always been amazed with the food at Field & Green and my favourite there is the Kedgeree. It's a total comfort food for me. That's why my husband and I decided to go for their WOAP Pop Up, Kosher & Spice, and we booked it for last Sunday. We knew we'd be enjoying their food but never did we think they'd exceed our expectations! The owners/chefs and the other chefs took us on a beautiful Jewish Indian cuisine journey. The whole experience just went to show their passion in creating memorable food without compromising on its authenticity. As Malaysians with roots from South India and growing up eating home-cooked Indian food, we were brought home with every bite. It had the right amount of spices blended just right, making us indulge in more and more dishes. Biting into their Thandiya-Chi-Bhakhri (a kind of chapati) with their Brinjal Kasaundi, my husband, Muthu, kept raving about it. That was the first one we had and he said he felt like running to Laura (one of the owners, also a chef there) and hugging her. True enough, when she walked over to serve the Lamb Shank Curry, he got up, hugged her and thanked her for creating such a good Brinjal Chutney which is one of his favourite chutneys. She was pleasantly surprised and felt touched. We then continued ordering more and more, and ended up having one of the most memorable dining experiences. Kudos to the team at Field & Green for bringing Indian cooking to the next level! We can see that you also put lots of love and care into your other dishes on your regular menu as well. We also love the cozy atmosphere there. lf you wanna have good comfort food, you'll never be disappointed there. The service has also always been wonderful. And if you're foodies like us, don't miss this pop-up. Almost all the dishes on this pop-up menu are gluten-free, and about half of them are vegan. Now we can't wait to try their other dishes on their Kosher & Spice menu on their last day of the event. Yes, we've already made another booking!

A regular dining establishment for me when in Wellington. Arguably the most consistent eatery in town. Whether brunch, lunch or dinner there is something for everyone here. Give it ago if you haven't you will not be dissapointed.

A perfect lunch if you want wonderful flavors and inventive dishes. I had the mashed peas and avocado with preserved lemon, Parmesan, poached egg and toast and it was absolutely delicious blend of flavors - fresh and clean. I had to try more so I also had the courgette (zucchini) spaghetti with pesto; pickled red onions; pine nuts, and arugula and it also was fresh and tasty. Despite their amazing list of fresh ice creams I am a chocolate person and decided to try the chocolate mousse with vanilla cream, chocolate crumble, and raspberry marmalade and it was perfect. Service was super friendly as well.

Some of Wellington’s BEST food! Amazing, delicious, and innovative, if you want tastes that will challenge and excite, try Field & Green. Despite an older crowd, the restaurant is easily filled and the dim lighting makes for easy atmosphere. The menu is superb and vegetarian and vegan friendly. The fish is always a superb catch and quickly consumed. The goats cheese soufflé is a favourite and baked perfectly. Strongly recommend the aubergine “salad” that acts more as an interesting Indian mouthful! The baked cauliflower is also a great side. No matter what you do, save space for the ice cream. Field & Green has a separate ice cream menu, with marmalade and stem ginger flavours leading the pack.....and no, this isn’t an out-of-touch English countrywoman making the recommendation! Go here and be superbly surprised by just how good the food is. The friendly staff and chatty chefs make the experience special.

Perfect for brunch - we ordered a cheese scone, kedgeree, beetroot, and chicken schnitzel. This is my favourite restaurant in Wellington. Never had a bad dish here.

Very attentive and helpful staff. Accommodating to dietaries. Humble setting where the food speaks for itself. Cooked to perfection, wine was also delicious. A Wellington experience not to be missed!

Yelp
Funky restaurant with an interesting festive menu. We were a large group of 35 and had the whole restaurant which was great, but also incredibly noisey - that'd just from conversation. Clearly the owners need to put some sound absorbing surface in there. The food was presented beautifully. I had a stater of seared tuna which was delicious with pomegranate, but the slices of chilli overwhelmed the other flavours. My main of grilled snapper was cold and chewy. Not pleasant. Sides included salads and yummy crumbed polenta sticks. Dessert was a saffron island on fennel custard. Wonderful subtle flavours although the fennel leaves on top were definitely inedible- like a mouthful of hair! Overall not a great experience, but I think it was more to do with being a large group. Would like to try it out with 2 or 4. Notice another review mentions noise so will try for a less busy night. Staff very attentive.

Yelp
Excellent kitchen. Seriously good food. Not our style. Really noisy bad accoustics bricked dining room low ceiling stark decor. Food is highend cheffy and pricey. Hospitality lacking in major way ditto communication skills. Pricey. I said that.
