Field Guide (Stowe, Vermont) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hotels in the Northeast tend to be a fairly traditional lot, stylistically speaking, and you can’t fault them for being proud of their heritage. And Stowe, Vermont trades heavily on tradition as well, with a history that long predates the bigger ski resorts out west. There are some hoteliers, though, who are willing to swim upstream. Lark Hotels is a regional brand, but one with national ambitions, and Field Guide is proof that their concept works: its colorful, contemporary, modernist-inspired design turns out to be a perfect fit for this classic New England mountain town." - Tablet Hotels

Emma and Aidan were extremely hospitable helpful and friendly when myself and my 13 year old son stayed recently for 2 nights. They gave me a care package to save me from going to the local pharmacy, which was a mile away, which I appreciated. We had netflix on tv which we made good use of. The outside pool was very cold, but the hottub (you have to pre- book a time) made up for that. The breakfast was mainly granola, 2 other unidentifiable cereals, apples, yougart, nuts and seeds. There were 2 juices. There was a plate of rolls. The hot water was always tepid, not boiling, so tea or coffee was impossible, although there was free teabags, milk and sugar available. The bathroom was perfect, great shower, hairdryer etc. The bedding was so soft and comfortable, felt like hand picked organic cotton. The fixtures and fittings needed attention - the cover fell off the tiny radiator 3 times as it wasn't screwed on properly. One of the fancy curtains wouldn't roll up properly and was dirty. I wouldn't stay again as it wasn't my scene, but the continuous music was good. 37 dollars for 2 white wines and 2 (mexican based) cokes.

Had a 2 night stay in July. Arrived early, this wasn’t a problem and our room was ready. The first evening we could hear music playing downstairs ( I think our room was directly above the bar area) but this wasn’t a problem as it stopped around 10.30pm. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case the following night and music played continuously throughout the night which made it very difficult to sleep. Breakfasts were ok although we had better elsewhere during our trip. Room was clean and comfortable. Great location.Only saw a member of staff when we checked in and again when we checked out. Based on the constant music playing, wouldn’t book again.

We spent two nights at Field Guide Lodge and left genuinely impressed. From the moment we arrived, the team welcomed us with warmth and professionalism. Aiden and his colleagues made sure every detail was taken care of, and their hospitality truly elevated our experience.||Our room was spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was perfect after a day of exploring Stowe, and the overall vibe of the lodge strikes a lovely balance between rustic charm and modern style. Breakfast was a highlight each morning, fresh, flavorful, and served in a cozy setting that made us feel right at home.||The location is ideal, just a short walk from great restaurants and shops, yet quiet enough to relax and unwind. We felt pampered throughout our stay and appreciated the little touches that made a big difference.|We wholeheartedly recommend Field Guide Lodge to anyone visiting the area. It’s a place where you’re not just a guest, you’re truly cared for.

The room we had was private and perfect for our anniversary getaway. We had a bottle of champagne in our room when we arrived with a Happy Anniversary card! The breakfasts were delicious and the bar was a fun hangout! We were able to walk everywhere and easily rent bikes across the street. We had a great time and will definitely stay there again!

We were there during a quiet time. The bar area would be fun w music and people. We enjoyed the games and hula hoops. Our room was comfortable. The air in our bedroom was loud and we could feel a strong breeze when it came on. Enjoyed the soaking tub

If you want to stay in the heart of Stowe and be able to walk to dining and shopping, this is a great location! Field Guide Lodge is a part of the Lark Hotels family. All these hotels have a fun vibe. We stayed in the main lodge. The rooms in the main lodge are very simple, the first floor of the lodge is the communal living room. The area is comfortable and decorated nicely, and has board games, shuffleboard, a few fireplaces and hot water for tea. 🫖 Breakfast in the morning is included. They had fruit, pastries and a protein of sorts, coffee and hot chocolate. In the evening we enjoyed a cocktail 🍸 at the bar, which has live music 🎶 some nights 7:00-9:00. There is a hot tub you can reserve for 30 minute increments. We opted to pass due to the weather and our short visit in the area. In the summer, there is a pool, which looks like a lovely set up. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. We did visit during peak leaf 🍁 peaking season, so it was pricey for the room type, but that’s what you can expect anywhere in Stowe in October. 🫣

The hotel has a very nice decor and the staff is really friendly - therefore two stars instead of one (or none).|Cottage Suite 1 must be the worst place we have stayed in, ever. If you like watching other guests in the hot tub (literally right in front of your window), the smell/sight of the dog bag collection point (right in front of bedroom window), blocked windows (both bedrooms) or generally a dark place with wonky floors - this is your place. Like hearing the upstairs guests flush their toilet? You got it. |Thanks to American RoadTrip for booking this place for us.

We originally booked just one night at Field Guide Lodge after discovering this charming property online—but the moment we walked through the door, we knew we had to stay longer. Thankfully, the staff was incredibly accommodating and made it possible for us to extend our stay in the deluxe suite for another night. I’d read some comments about the breakfast before we arrived, and let’s be honest—most hotels serve the same tired options: instant eggs, packaged yogurt, and sugary cereals. But Field Guide Lodge completely exceeded my expectations. Their breakfast was fresh, thoughtful, and honestly the best I’ve had in a hotel. The chia pudding alone was next-level—topping choices were just about anything you could imagine. It was such a refreshing change to enjoy real, healthy food instead of the usual processed offerings. Our suite was spotless, beautifully styled, and so comfortable. The bed was cozy, and the view? Absolutely breathtaking. Our stay at Field Guide Lodge was truly unforgettable. We’re already planning to return—this time with our young adult kids so they can enjoy the experience as much as we did.

Wonderful bartender and an ambience that will cause us to come back to stay. We just had drinks and snacks bar

Yelp
I honestly had a pretty nice stay. The room was fairly clean except for the carpet, which was riddled with stains and should definitely be replaced. I luckily, I brought flip flops that I could wear around the room. Not far from the downtown section, I'd recommend this place.

Yelp
We loved our stay here, a highlight of our time in Stowe! Our room was lovely, comfortable, and cozy. The lobby is beautifully decorated and a perfect spot to hang out. Breakfast each morning was delicious, pastries, fruits, oatmeal, it was different each day. The staff is incredibly friendly and made our visit extra special! There is even a hot tub that you can rent out for just your party, making it extra special!

Yelp
I had high hopes for this stay. It was not terrible but not really what you would expect for the price. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and nice. The evening staff were not kind and not attentive when we wanted to order food from the bar. They were not rude, just not in a friendly mood. The room was SMALL and stuffy and didn't feel clean. The shower is small, tiny and the floor didn't feel clean. The room floor also didn't feel clean. The breakfast was nice and a good assortment. Overall the hotel tries to hard to look cool but really should put more into cleaning and service.

Emily D.

Yelp
While my room was clean I was disappointed with customer service. When I arrived, they said that I owed extra money because there was a fee to stay in that town. I told them that Travelocity didn't tell me about any extra fees, and the lady got upset with me when all I did was ask for more information about what the fee was. Then she proceeded to tell me that's why she would never book with a third-party. The building also had tons of rugs everywhere, which made it impossible to get my luggage through and then breakfast wasn't ready on time so I had to leave without eating.

Yelp
Giving place a 3.5 Pros Very helpful and attentive staff. All front desk people and staff are courteous and professional Excellent location to Stowe village, and walking Good breakfast spreads I also like the soap and shampoo in the room dispensaries Cool concept and aesthetic Lots of lobby and outdoor seating. Cons Standard rooms are very small. This includes bathrooms. Mattresses are not great Pool out of commission, but staff says it's a day-to-day thing. Hot tub is difficult to try to step into. Some areas could use some freshening up.

Yelp
This place is absolutely fabulous. Not only is the decor phenomenal but the front desk ladies rock. One of them helped us carry our bags to the room. They made great restaurant recs and the included breakfast was more than I expected. Rooms are super cute and clean.

Yelp
Had a weekend planned at field guide lodge, and I was so looking forward to it. Our stay was shorter than expected due to a medical emergency. My husband was gone for hours at an urgent care, & I was with our 8 month old alone. The manager Aiden was so helpful. They went above and beyond to help me, & make sure I was comfortable. Besides the genuine hospitality, the lodge was stunning. So clean, and up-kept. So many places to hangout by the fire, play games, have a drink and just enjoy the pretty snowfall. Complimentary breakfast, a beautiful bar with tapas menu, and coffee & tea available 24/7. The location was prime location, everything within a 3 minute drive. I wish I could have enjoyed the lodge more than we got to but we will be back for sure. Thank you field guide!

Yelp
Stayed at this place back closer to when it opened. Was one of my favorite experiences. Here now after 8 years. Still a beautiful place, still a great team. Still good decor. But the place feels a bit dated and less clean now. Robes feel a little cheap, windows are dirty as heck. Better attention to upkeep would do them well. Pool looked dirty today. Also surprised there seem to only be a few parties staying here.

Yelp
We were in a Summit room. Strange configuration, a bunkhouse with queen bunk beds, and a separate bedroom with a king bed. So for 6 people you are supposed to share one tiny bathroom? Luckily it was only my husband & myself. We were able to use the bunkhouse to put our suitcases on. Nice outdoor area to sit off the bedrooms, with French Doors opening to a gravel area, with a fire pit. There is a seasonal pool & hot tub, which we didn't use during our stay. Nice lobby area, to socialize with seating & lots of games available. Our room was quiet, since it was in the back of the property. The good: Friendly & professional staff, funky/hipster/rustic vibe, comfortable beds & pillows , nice linens & towels, provide complimentary breakfast, coffee station near rooms, plenty of parking, chocolate chip cookies & waters in room. Provide soap, shower gel, shampoo/conditioner & lotion. Nice bar in lobby, offers appetizer boards in the afternoon. A TV in each room with streaming, but no local stations. Plenty of outlets for charging devices, just need to put everything on the floor or bed. The bad: No help with luggage , you either schlepp it up a lot of stairs or down wooden plank boardwalk from the gravel parking lot. Bathroom no where to put anything. No vanity or shelves. ( pedestal sink) Needs some shelves or a medicine cabinet. Warm not Hot, shower after a long time of running water, with low water pressure. In bedroom nowhere to put anything no dresser or nightstands, tiny closet, with a few hangers, they do provide 2 small robes & a luggage stand. Needed at least a nightstand or shelf next to bed for eyeglasses, phone, water. My RV has more places to put essential things next to my bed. Mirrors? There is one in bathroom over the sink. I would not stay here again, we are not in our 20's or 30's, which this place would be more appealing too. They do try hard to provide you a nice stay, but we are not accustomed to hauling our rolling luggage up stairs, & we need places to unpack at least a little bit. This place was obviously designed by a man ( no mirrors or any place to put anything) with men & skiing/hiking in mind. If you travel with a duffel & a backpack, this is your place, otherwise you might want to consider somewhere else. Since we were traveling during peak foliage the price was RIDICULOUS for the type of lodging that this offers.

Yelp
As long as you aren't planning on using the fold-out bed (which was soooo thin and lumpy), you'll be in for a treat. The staff was some of the best we've encountered. The decor is nostalgic while being up to date. The Bar and Board room is a great place for a nightcap and a game. Our room was spacious, nicely decorated, and clean. The main bed was completely comfortable. Within walking distance of plenty of restaurants, bars, stores, and most importantly, the Stowe Recreation Path, which is beautiful.

Yelp
We got this nice lodge right on Mountain Rd, very close to downtown Stowe and not far of a drive to many of the restaurants and attractions. The whole check in is contactless and very efficient. The lobby has a beautiful sitting area and an ample breakfast area (during the pandemic you pick a to-go bag with food enough for 2). The room had a nice balcony and very nice and clean bathroom. It's a nice comfortable place to stay with a nice hot tub and green areas to walk around. There are several restaurants and a strip mall just across the road, so it's very convenient. The Bench is right across and they have a large varied menu. The place is very charming and cozy. Free parking.

Yelp
Overall, a VERY good experience. It's rainy/slow/mud season in VT, so both the hotel and the town were very dead. However, the architecture is designed for gathering in both peak summer and winter seasons. There are lots of places to enjoy the outdoors (fireplaces, pavilions, etc). The breakfast was different each day and always matched the vibe of the hotel (quiche, croissants, fruit, yogurt, etc.). There is a really nice attention to detail in both the amenities (iPads in the room, Apple TV, digital cable, cookies on arrival, neck rests in bed, bar area design) and the decor (lodge themed). Additionally, there is beer and wine for sale. All very nice and reasons I would stay again. However, these are ways I think it could improve: - Smoking pavilion needed. Standing on the uneven gravel hill is not a vibe. - The staff is either lackluster or non existent. - If you're going to charge $75 for a bottle of champagne, upgrade the brand. - Most of the breakfast foods that are served need to be on ice, for food safety reasons. - Work with local restaurants to provide more delivery options or serve heavier food at your bar - Snack/drink menu is out of date. In summation, would go back during peak season.

Yelp
While the Field Guide Lodge does have a very eclectic vibe we realize a "boutique" hotel is not for us. Our honest review is as follows, No coffee maker in the room, (coffee is available but need to wake, dress and go downstairs, not ideal) small bathroom, tiny sink with no shelf/counter space for toiletries, etc., the window unit A/C was Very LOUD. We had a room at the top of the stairs; hence we heard Everything downstairs. The lodge does have ample outdoor space to provide more then one firepit, which is a great idea but only serves one family. The staff, when present, were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The lack of an elevator is surprising given today's ADA requirements. We did share all of the above with a staff member and they were very receptive to all.

Yelp
This was one of the best stays ever! We booked a room in the tree house and it was SO worth it. The room was decorated beautifully and it even had a bathtub with views of the mountains. Typically we stay down the road but decided to change things up a bit this trip and it was so worth it! Make sure to try the breakfast spread, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Beautifully decorated hotel. Can't tell if it would appeal to millennials or hipsters or hipster millennials more, but it's strikes a balance somewhere there! The lobby is large with several sitting areas, outfitted with chairs, couches, coffee tables, books, as well as well stocked coffee and cookies. During the fall when we went, they started a fire outside in the early evening, which was nice to sit by before heading out for dinner. Very friendly staff.

Yelp
Great, great place. Staff were very friendly, accessible, and helpful. Communication was excellent. Great style throughout. Covered deck was perfect place to relax, eat breakfast, read a book (and write a review). Breakfast was really good every morning. Love that they start a fire out back every evening. Location was perfect--easy and beautiful walk to many good restaurants and the center of Stowe. I can't say enough good things about this place. I'm really glad we stayed here.

Yelp
I stayed at Field Guide Lodge for a weekend recently and I had a wonderful experience. The staff is very attentive-from the time you check in you get text updates on your phone and if you need anything you can text the number and receive an almost immediately reply to your inquiry. The room itself was average-it had everything we needed. I had a king room and I will say if there's only one qualm I have I wish the room was big enough to fit a small table with 2 chairs. However, this is a design preference really and not too big of a deal. If I felt like I needed a bigger space, the beautiful lobby offered plenty of it. There's a outdoor patio area with picnic tables you can enjoy your breakfast at or just hang out and chat. There are also plenty of other places in the lobby to hang out and have great conversation. The pool area is really cute. I like how you can reserve a 30 minute time slot to use the hot tub, however, the location of the hot tub at the hotel wasn't my favorite. I'd prefer it to be near the pool so I chose not to use it, but that's just a personal preference. The location is great. There a lot of great places to dine, grab coffee, or a beer at a brewery just down the road. Town is also very close by if you'd like to grab a souvenir. The location was one of my favorite things about Field Guide Lodge. Finally, I must say the breakfast is superb. Probably the BEST thing about this hotel. The breakfast menu is so cute and well thought out and their presentation is everything...looked like a wedding cocktail hour spread. I appreciated their attentiveness and attention to detail. If you're looking at hotels in Stowe, Field Guide Lodge is worth the stay. It's very quintessential Stowe and I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Really nice little hotel! Cozy rooms with cool decor. The highlight was the half hour in the private outdoor hot tub!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our recent stay at Field Guide Lodge! We spent two nights and had a comfy room on the 2nd floor. The bed was very comfy and the TV could connect to Netflix or other streaming apps, which was great. We also had a big tub in our bathroom which was wonderful. Negatives would be that the shower was VERY small, and they didn't have the breakfast downstairs due to COVID. The bagged breakfast didn't contain anything we really wanted (an orange, a pastry, and some yogurt/oats), but this isn't really their fault because of the pandemic. It was somewhat of a long drive to Burlington and there was A LOT of traffic due to construction. Again, not the fault of the lodge; just something for you to know when booking. Overall, really enjoyed our experience and you can't beat it for the money!

Yelp
My thoughts echo most of the other reviewers: this place is beautiful, well maintained, and very well located in Stowe. I had a great stay here and really loved the rustic, cozy, but modern feel of the hotel. Although our time at Stowe was rainy, we found plenty of things to do in the hotel after we exhausted all the brewery options in town. I'm just going to do a brief recap because I don't want to repeat what everyone else says. Free continental breakfast, complementary iPad use during your stay, Apple TVs in rooms, hot tub, and my favorite, the chocolate chip cookies at the front desk. I should have hoarded more! A few things to note however: there's no elevator (thank goodness for my strong boyfriend who carried our giant luggage up the stairs), most rooms may be on the smaller side (but it feels cozy to me), and sometimes we could hear hallway noises. Not deal breakers to me. During our check-out, the lady at the front desk gave us a $30 off card to any other Lark hotel properties. I'll definitely have to check them out in the future if I ever travel up to the New England area again!

Yelp
Wonderful stay and absolutely will come back. I live in Georgia and we just do not have this breathtaking foliage. The Field Guide Lodge just made coming this far so much nicer. Wonderful market right across the street too!!!!

Tee J.

Yelp
Overall our stay was fantastic and we are already talking about our next stay. I would have liked to have at least local TV channels available for news and weather. No issue with predominately streaming, but local news and info would be a fantastic add. My wife and I both have issues with our knees and the lack of elevator or first floor rooms in the main lodge is somewhat disappointing, but understandable given the age of the building. Aiden did provide options that would overcome this on our next stay.

Yelp
Found this place via Groupon while looking for a weekend getaway. The pictures really drew me in, the place looked stunningly appealing. After scoping out the Stowe attractions online, I went ahead and booked the place. We got here Sunday early afternoon and hoped they would let us check in early just to unload our bags. No one was at the front desk but there were instructions to page someone to come greet us. They let us check in early, seemed like it was low occupancy, great for us! The decor is absolutely beautiful - the way i would describe it would be Robot Cowboy. Very modern, contemporary with touches of rustic pieces. From what the concierge told us, they just opened late 2015. And yes rustic does mean no elevators and narrow hallways, so if you've got heavy baggage, you've been warned. No electronic key cards, you get a good old fashion key - you know the kind you turn and open a door with. =) You also get a complimentary iPad to use (lose it and it's a $750 fine!) - came pre-loaded with apps of things to do and places to eat in the area. The walls are adorned with Da Vinci'esque pictures, architectural backbones of everyday items - very cool. Complimentary breakfast gets hand delivered in a basket to your door (really nice touch!) That morning, we received mini muffin loaves, oats, fruit and OJ - muffin loaves had great flavor but were a bit dry. They recently added a restaurant - Picnic Social, looked really cool but we ventured out during our stay so we didn't get to experience it. There are several restaurants within walking distance and attractions within a 10 min drive. Although very friendly, the staff seemed like they were still learning the ropes. This was def a great place to stay while in Stowe - hope the business does well, we might be back!

Yelp
Loved this place! We stayed 2 nights and had a great time. It is very new, modern, and clean. We had a suite which included a living room with a fire place and TV, a private deck outside, a really nice bathroom with large soaking tub, bedroom with large TV, etc. We enjoyed the pool area and the cabanas - very clean, and we saw them sanitizing constantly so felt very safe. Yummy cookies upon arrival. Breakfast was to-go in bags for each couple (due to Covid). Comfortable and relaxing, near plenty to do, eat, and see! Would definitely recommend dinner at The Bench across the street. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
it's absolutely beautiful in here. the amenities are endless. the rooms are so unique and I totally would recommend it

Yelp
My husband and I just finished staying at this lodge for 3 nights. This lodge was perfect!! The décor throughout the lobby area, breakfast/ bar area, and game areas was truly unique. There was a huge outdoor patio with many private seating areas that had great ambiance both day and night. The gathering areas were comfortable and cozy with a a ski theme clearly done by a talented designer. It was unexpected and not generic. The room was nice and clean. We had a great view. The only downsides to our stay was a small bathroom. We would stay here again and highly recommend this lodge.

Yelp
Field Guide is located in the heart of Stowe with access to surround points such as Burlington, Winooski and Montpelier. The hotel is amazing. The decor is vibrant and unique with subtle finishes making this place very homely and yet fun. I especially love that the rooms are equipped with Apple TVs so that you can AirPlay your own stuff or log into Netflix/Hulu and the like. In addition, each quest is provided an iPad upon check-in which is pre-loaded with all the info you could possibly need about restaurants and attractions in Stowe and surrounding areas. Breakfast served in the lobby lounge is simple but fresh. The croissants are addictive! Coffee and tea is made available all day which is an appreciated added touch! Will definitely return here again!

Yelp
This place is amazing. My wife and I loved the room we stayed in. They are smaller but very well decorated and the lay out is great. We enjoyed looking at the activity options on the iPad they give you during your stay. They have great recommendations. Breakfast is fantastic. The lobby is so welcoming, especially with the cookies. I wish we could have stayed longer. My wife couldn't stop talking about this place to others. This is our go to hotel when we are staying in Vermont.

Yelp
Where do I begin? This is Stowe's hidden gem! We were blown away at how fantastic this hotel was. For starters, the staff was incredibly accommodating towards my husband and I as we were arriving very late that evening after the front desk closed. They graciously emailed us instructions ahead of time on how to enter the lobby area and get our key. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the most a pleasant surprise - we'd been upgraded to a townhouse suite! A lovely gift bag filled with local goodies awaited us and I was immediately enamores with the attention to detail in the design and space. The bathroom and bedroom were impeccable decorated and designed and the cozy fireplace in the living room was the perfect touch for a relaxing weekend. With its proximity to all the charming Stowe restaurants and cafe, this is the perfect all-season location. The front desk staff was incredibly pleasant and accommodating and it felt like we were staying at a second home. We cannot wait to come back again!

Yelp
Tons of amenities & huge shower Gourmet breakfast Great communication Yummy cookies in the room Outdoor activities a plenty Close to everything Every detail spot on. My only regret.... not staying longer!

Yelp
Stayed here for a night to explore Stowe and was not disappointed one bit. This was in fact one of the best aspects of the trip- we loved the Alpine Ski-modern style they had going on! Everything was extremely clean, staff was exceptionally friendly, breakfast was included and only a 10 minute drive to the mountain base. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Brooke M.

Yelp
Was very excited to stay here but unfortunately this did not meet my expectations. For $400+ a night, I would expect more from this experience. When we arrived, the pillow on the top of the bed was stained which put a bad taste in my mouth to begin with. Found multiple spiders in the room. Noticed weird smell when you walk in the room. There was no hot water when we woke up on Sunday morning which is very frustrating as well. You can definitely tell this was a renovated motel which would be fine if the prices were more reasonable. There was a live music event on Saturday when we stayed there and most of the lobby was blocked off if you didn't buy a ticket to the show which didn't make sense as someone who paid over $400 a night to enjoy the amenities. Staff is not present in the hotel at all times and guests were screaming in the lobby at 12:00am but no staff to de escalate the situation. One good thing about this hotel was the lobby. The lobby is beautiful and decorated very nicely but is also accessible to the public after the bar opens so if you want to stay here because of the fireplaces, hangout areas, and pictures you have seen, the best bet is booking a cheaper hotel that is also cleaner and coming here to have a drink. (Only offer canned cocktails beer and wine for the most part.) Plenty of other places to stay in the area for less and extremely nice places to stay for the price you pay for this one. Wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
Best hotel ever. Seriously. We stayed here for our honeymoon and could not have picked a better hotel. From the moment we got here the lobby / check in area was so cozy and clean, and the employee was super welcoming and kind. We actually had our room upgraded which was the best surprise! When we first checked into our suite everything was perfect, until I used the soaking tub which leaked on the floor. I notified the front desk and they came up right away with maintenance, checking it out and offering us a new room. We took the new room (same suite as they gave us before) and settled in nicely! We stayed for four nights and we're already planning our stay for next year!!

Yelp
After months of back and forth and their continued lies we have succumbed to their greed and lost the battle. They continue to think they tried to upgrade us, but what they are not being honest about is the fact that they lied to get us there in the first place. And the upgrade would have required us to suck up the worse room in the entire place for a few valuable nights then we'd have to move. So instead of spending our honeymoon playing their games I feel we still played the right cards and didn't stay. But shame on them for being so cruel to unsuspecting people and not being upfront about the 'variety' of accommodations.

Yelp
Opened up our fold out bed for our daughter to find a big blood stained pillowcase -- facing up (i.e., not sure how a cleaning person could miss it). The one temperature control for ours and our daughter's rooms resulted in climates that seemed 7-10 degrees different. She was freezing; we were too warm to get to bed. Bizarre that management has not replaced the badly stained checkerboard patterned hallway carpet. White-colored boxes are not ideal for folks dragging post-skiing dirt in. Overall, nowhere near worth the cost.

Yelp
Great option for a ski trip. Really enjoyed the fun decor! While the breakfast wasn't exceptional, it certainly was much better than you'd get from a chain hotel. Our first room was on the smaller side and we switched on our second night to a suit which was wonderful - spacious patio and a wonderful soaking tub in front of windows over looking the Forrest. This hotel has a price point for everyone's budget and it is ideally located just outside of the hassle of the resorts.

Yelp
Our trip to Stowe was complete with this wonderful inn, close to town and 10 minutes to the mountain, staff was courtesy and friendly, we felt very safe with everything that is going on, we will definitely be back.

Yelp
I found this hotel via a Travel Zoo deal and was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was easy, and the friendly receptionist provided an iPad that provided extensive information about the area, including restaurants, shops, and activities. The room was cozy despite having a modern chic vibe, so much so that my sister thought I was staying in an Airbnb when I sent her a picture of the interior. Bathrobes were provided for relaxation, and the bed itself gave me a much-needed night's rest after a day of strenuous hiking. The bathroom was clean, and I loved the fresh scents (thyme, mint, lavender) of the provided toiletries. A hot tub is also available, but unfortunately I did not get a chance to check it out since I arrived later at night. The hotel's location is near many shops and restaurants, and the town's recreation trail is also nearby for outdoor enthusiasts. As an added bonus, a simple but complimentary breakfast was delivered in a basket to my front door in the morning and consisted of muffins, orange juice, and oatmeal. Overall, I loved my stay here and will definitely be back. If you're looking for the perfect place for a quick getaway, I'd highly recommend Field Guide for your needs!

Yelp
Great service, great location, and great breakfast! We booked last minute based on watching the weather forecast and were not disappointed! The location is central to restaurants, shopping, hiking, biking, breweries, and great waterfalls! Our concierge, Aiden was a true gem! We got to the lodge early being from out of state and wanting to enjoy everything Stowe had to offer. She gave us detailed information about the bike rail trail where we had a great ride and lunch. When we got back, she had our room ready hours early! The staff was very knowledgable about the attractions in the area. We spent early morning to nightfall soaking in Stowe in the summer! The complimentary breakfast in the morning changed daily and was incredible! I have been to 23 countries and must say this is top notch service. Thank you so much Aiden! We will be back!

Yelp
Great stay in Stowe, would definitely come back. Room worked great for family of 5, walking distance to everything, campfire was fun. Lobby was great for relaxing, breakfast, having an afternoon beverage.

Yelp
I had been planning to stay at this hotel for a year when I happened to stumble upon Picnic Social. My friend and I stayed here for one night for my birthday on a trip from CA to see the fall foliage. It was my first stay as a Lark Hotel Member. Immediately they made me feel at home. They upgraded our room and had a special birthday treat for me. The room itself was beautifully decorated and I felt very pampered in the standalone tub. The restaurant/bar as well as the pool/hot tub was a super easy walk away. The next morning breakfast was served directly to our door which was lovely. I think the only things I would change are the fact that there was no full length mirror and it was not easy to get ahold of someone from the front desk.

Yelp
Just don't stay here and waste your hard earned money here. BEWARE TOTAL SCAM should be a 1 star motel like it used to be. Upon checking in was greeted by the less than welcoming front desk person Kendra. I informed Kendra my partner is immunocompromised (he has stage 3 cancer) and we would prefer a room that hasn't been used in at least 24 hours she said they had been full the previous night and didn't have any. Then my partner walked up and asked her to please check low and behold they had a room that hasn't been used. We told Kendra we wanted no maid service because of covid precautions she said we wouldn't and to keep our do not disturb sign on the door (which we did). The next day while we were out maids came into our room even with the do not disturb sign. Unacceptable! Then we had to change rooms since an unmasked maid was in our room. Sure they 'upgraded' us to a room where you can hear everyone on the second floor walking and talking. Was woken up at 5am one day by sounds of people mating above me. Disgusting. Room was smaller than a shoebox dim light it in the bathroom was told yeah a lot of people complain. Then Kendra started making fun of the 'ambiance' lighting in the lobby and that she keeps them brighter than they are supposed to be. Kendra also made fun of our mask usuage and asked if we even wear masks while alone together at home. Sorry Kendra you're ignorant it's called B.A.5 and it's ripping through the US because everyone wants to make believe covid is gone. News flash it isn't so require masks to keep your guests safe or at the bare minimum have staff wear them. I asked for a hot tub reservation time change and Kendra never updated it but that didn't matter because the hot tub is from the 90s no jet power. Just call it a warm bath. Ohh but they will have someone look at it after we would be checking out. We only stayed at this run down place for three nights. Heard from a guest that it used to be a run down motel, well it still is they just put lipstick on a pig. I will be reporting this business to the BBB unless they offer me a refund for my unacceptable treatment and horrible experience 30 dollar off coupons for future stays don't cut it. I will never stay at a Lark property again.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stayed here this past weekend and were very happy we chose this place. The location is great! It's a 5 minute walk to the shops/restaurants on Main st. There are plenty of places right across the street as well. The decor is cute, it's cabin chic. Also, they give you an iPad for your stay, which was actually kind of nice, they had apps/websites bookmarked -- much better then a brochure or having to bother them with recommendation requests. The staff were all very friendly though. Another nice touch was the little breakfast baskets they leave you in the AM. They were adorable. My only complaints are minor things -- I wish they had a larger/full length mirror somewhere -- esp in the bathroom. And also, the shower is very small. My girlfriend and I are both 5'2 and thin and felt cramped. I'm honestly not sure if anyone who is not on the thinner side could fit in this shower. Lastly, the smoke alarms are very sensitive. My girlfriend set it off just by straightening her hair. That aside, I would highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I'll start off by stating the obvious. This hotel is gorgeous. It is decorated flawlessly. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very sweet girl at the front desk and we were given our room key (which is not an electric key card - an actual key! Fun!), when we entered our room, it was tiny! I understand that we booked the least expensive room - but come on! You could not walk over to one side of the bed without scratching your leg on the table in the corner near the window. It was way too small (however, decorated beautifully!). The bathroom was nice, small, but nice. However, anytime you showered, the floor would get soaked. And there weren't enough towels in the room to clean up the water and because there is not a phone in the room, you have no way to call the front desk to request more towels. It's a headache that you can't reach the front desk without actually going downstairs. They provide you with a tablet when you arrive which is pre-loaded with area attractions, it is very helpful if you do not know the area. The smart TV was a cool feature. Another cute thing they do is they deliver breakfast to your door in the most adorable little basket! For the 2 nights that we were there we typically received OJ, fruit, oats and a pastry. Would have like the option of a hot breakfast, but the little basket was very "Vermont". The pool area is nice. The seating is great, they have 3 sets of 2 covered, cushioned lounge chairs which are fantastic - if you can get one. People tend to camp out on them (understandably). The pool itself is clean but so cold. The walk from the hotel to the pool is not paved or grass, it is kinda gravel-y/grassy and uncomfortable. But the pool was nice. The hot tub should be way closer to the pool, if you want to go from one to another it is quite the hassle. The worst part of this hotel was easily the restaurant. I went down to the bar for a drink and a snack with my boyfriend because we at an early dinner out in Waterbury. The menu was EXTREMELY limited and it wasn't overly appealing. The grilled cheese was burnt, and my drink - oh, my drink - was terrible! It could have been so good. I do not remember exactly what it was, but it had a popsicle in it. Sounds cool, right?! The popsicle had so much mint or basil or some herb that it made the cocktail impossible to drink. It felt like I was eating a salad with vodka dressing. It was not good. Overall, it was fine. But for the money they charge, fine is not what I was looking for. I was looking for more. I won't discourage anyone from coming here, but I will not return.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting Stowe and the Field Guide Lodge made us feel right at home, even during a pandemic. We were upgraded to the Tree House Lodge and got treated like luxury the whole time. The staff was constantly checking up on us and making sure our stay was going well, the room was absolutely beautiful, and the location of the resort couldn't have been better. We will definitely be back!
