Field Station Joshua Tree

Room was very clean, spacious, and given a lot of thought in terms of the furnishings. Beds are really nice and firm and blankets comfortable. Hot tub and pool were also so enjoyable, with clean restrooms and shower right by the pool. However, everything else (basics) can be used or purchased from the lobby. That is, hot water, microwave, phone. Not a big deal as the staff are all very nice and helpful. Biggest concern is the sound… still bearable if it was just normal footsteps now and then or the cars outside, but the people in the room on top of us sound like they were either making up the number of steps they need or doing some aerobics or zumba. At 11pm and 5am and 8am. It was awful being in the lower room with all that noise.

I was a little concerned that the majority of reviews might be fake - you don't often see a $100/night motel with 4.7 stars. However, it was great! Exactly what you need, nothing you don't. The room itself was surprisingly large and I definitely appreciated the (nice) tile floors since I was traveling with my dog and was also traveling with a ton of crap. Everything in the room was clean and in good repair and the common areas are all new and very clean. They have some nice fire pits and a pool which were all in good shape but I didn't stay long enough to enjoy/use those. Note that it's an old motorlodge building and it can be a little concerning when you pull up to your door but that concern goes away when you step inside. I would most definitely stay there again. As a comparison, I'm staying at the Parker in Palm Springs tonight and between just the "resort fee" and mandatory valet parking, I am already on the hook for the entire cost of the stay at Field Station. The Parker is not 8X better/nicer than Field Station. In fact, I'd say service is on par, the mattress on the bed is about the same and the staff were friendlier and it was actually quieter at Field Station. This is now my short-stay spot when traveling through Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree.

Singularly the worst hotel/motel ever. CHEAPLY CONSTRUCTED and DESIGNED TO BE NOISY. I mean it’s zero stars. The main point of accommodations while traveling is to sleep. Well, it’s impossible to sleep here because there was the thinnest of a metal door adjoining the room we stayed in to the room next door. You could hear every word, every sound when they were on our side of their room. They had the TV on (and I don’t even think it was on high) and it was as if it was in our room. It basically was since that adjoining door didn’t keep any noise out. ANY. Then there’s of course the two doors to the front and back entrances and you could hear all the road traffic there, too. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world from basic to luxury and this was one of the top WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE(s). Whoever designed this place should try to sleep here for a few nights. Secondly, there’s no kettle/coffee maker in the room. It’s like a basic motel except there are no carpets on the ground either. And no, it’s not a cheap, budget place. Being “adventure” themed, whatever that is, doesn’t mean the guests won’t need hot water. Thirdly, there’s a pool and kids were playing around it and making a lot of noise. Adults were pulling metal chairs/chaise-lounges at night and talking. Good luck sleeping with those walls/doors. Fourthly, the WiFi was so spotty, I had to disconnect and use data pretty much the entire time. To top it off, the shower didn’t get hot and temperature would oscillate between warm and warmer. The coffee/breakfast they sell in the am is extremely expensive. A pretzel is $8. Terrible place and very poor value for what you pay.

I stayed here for a few days while I was in the area for a concert and I couldn't have been happier with the place! The room was really awesome in a clean, minimalist kind of way, and the mattresses were really great. The grounds are so nicely landscaped and had a bunch of different places to hang out - I think bringing a group would work out well because there are a bunch of outdoor living spaces to enjoy together. The pool was gorgeous, the hot tub was nice and deep, and the deck chairs were comfy! The lobby is way more than just a place to check in and out - it has a full-service coffee bar, food service, and some grab-and-go options in a cooler. It also has places to sit, and some board games you can borrow. The gift shop is really nice too, I just wish that there had been an XL in the "Trail Head" hoodie cuz the L ran small lol Finally, the staff were all AMAZING! They were all incredibly friendly and helpful - I felt like I was being welcomed into someone's home rather than just renting a room somewhere. I'd really like to visit Field Station Joshua Tree again someday - if I didn't live on the opposite side of the country I'd probably already be planning another weekend getaway! (ps - sorry for no pics of the room itself - I didn't think to take any until we'd spread our stuff out everywhere!)

Field Station Joshua Tree is a modern motel-style accommodation with a clean and contemporary design. But what truly stood out was the exceptionally friendly staff. One of the team members even came to our room to surprise our daughter with a bag full of birthday gifts, such a thoughtful gesture! The rooms are stylish and well-designed, and there’s a lovely outdoor pool along with a great seating and games area that’s perfect for both kids and adults. Our children would have loved to stay more than just one night! The breakfast selection is simple but totally fine. Just what you need to start the day. All in all, it’s an ideal stopover for families traveling through the area. Thank you, dear Field Station JT team, for this wonderful stay! 💛

Ok, so technically, if I'm in this area, I prefer the Pioneertown motel simply because I like the vibe and history of Pioneertown better. HOWEVER, the Field Station staff are exceptional. The rooms are great and clean and new and the lobby is perfect for travelers - ie good enough food, drinks, fire pit outside etc. The walls are unfortunately paper thin and you hear everything when someone walks by your door but, it's literally the only other place in the area that I'd ever stay. Best price for accommodation anywhere in the area!

The rooms were spotless and thoughtfully designed — you can tell the team takes real pride in keeping everything clean and comfortable. The bed was incredibly cozy, making it easy to unwind after a long day exploring Joshua Tree. What really stood out was the staff — some of the most polite and genuinely friendly people we’ve met while traveling. They made us feel right at home from check-in to check-out. We also loved that there’s a variety of great food and activity options just a short drive away, so it’s a perfect base for exploring the area. Highly recommend staying here — we’ll definitely be back!

I recently stayed at The Field Station in Joshua Tree and couldn’t have had a better experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the pool area was perfect for relaxing, and the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. They’re also dog-friendly, which meant my dog Wally felt right at home! I can’t say enough good things about the team here — their warmth and hospitality made the stay truly special. If you’re visiting Joshua Tree, this is the hotel to choose

The rooms are well appointed and clean. It's nice to have such a cool, dog-friendly option in the area. Beds are comfy and coffee at the front desk is included. I lucked out with an early check in. The front desk was super helpful (I got a flat tire and they recommended a tire shop). My dog loved the stay too.

There's a lot to love about this motel. They did a really great job on the remodel. The grounds are nice, fire pits and space to relax throughout the property. I was happy to see a hospitality group take over the former sad ass Travelodge and give this place much needed love. Outdoor adventure theme is cool, with a little gear and apparel shop up front. I love the big minimalist rooms. Always clean with large firm mattresses. Was bummed that this stay in my room felt like constant mini earthquakes due to the construction on the adjacent road. Starts super early weekdays. Probably best to stay on the other side of the motel if possible. No fault of motel but they need to inform guests this is going on - it's pretty nuts. The pool and jacuzzi area are nice. Wish the pool was heated. Sweet cafe and lounge area and the staff are always amazing and incredibly helpful. I've been staying here since they opened and it's a convenient and relatively inexpensive option if you're headed to the park or pappy's for a show. I love that I repeatedly see the same staff at the front desk. Makes me think kindly of the management.

YELP SHORT ANSWER: As a sister business to AutoCamp, this is a different experience but very nicely done. LOCATION: This is a destination location near entry to Joshua Tree National Park, you need a reason to come here. Our stay was for a concert nearby. FACILITY: an highly update hotel, nice layout with pool and a lot of outdoor spaces. Very quiet. MENU: As a hotel, you'd be surprised what food they do offer in the lobby mixed use area... it's great.: STAFF: from check in to check out everyone was exceptional. OVERALL VALUE: I am sure you can find cheaper in this area but none nicer or a better value. We have stayed at AutoCamp which is amazing but double Field Station pricing and you need to stay two nights I believe. TIP: ask for a quiet room at booking time, this is a large hotel with some rooms getting highway noise.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We arrived at Field Station Joshua Tree at 1 PM, excited to start our trip -- instead, we've spent hours sitting in the lobby with no room, no updates, and no idea when (or if) we'll actually check in. It's now two hours past the official check-in time, and the staff couldn't be less helpful. No manager on site, no communication, no accountability. Just a lot of blank stares and excuses. The staff is disorganized, and completely unprofessional. Field Station looks good online, but don't be fooled -- this place is a complete operational mess. Spend your money elsewhere.

Cool and hip but I bet it will show it's age quickly. Service was quick and efficient at check in. Rooms are spartan with concrete floors and funky wall pegs instead of closet. Cute outdoorsy theme of the tp hanger (nylon climbing style rope) and sleeping-bag-esque blanket. Bed is super hard which I like but others may not. Base of bathroom door was already peeling paint/laminate. Faucet in bath sink was poorly installed and tilted strangely. All this is tolerable but the air heating/cooling system was miserably loud. Kept me and friend awake all night. Mini fridge but no coffee/tea setup. Jacuzzi nice and hot but had foam in it (ick!). Pool was icy cold unheated. We spent about $185 for a queen double for one night w tax so that was fine. TL/dr: pretty decent for a quick JT stay

Stayed here so my friend and I could go to the Integrathron. The place was cool, nice lobby, with little things you could by. Snack food to eat and coffee, I believe. We did not partake. The room was very nice, very clean. Beds were comfortable and a/c kept the room cool. It is very minimal. I would have liked some kind of drink ware in the room, but aside from that, I would recommend this place.

My stay was almost great - clean, well appointed, attractive and modern rooms. Nice concept. Unfortunately, after checking out a mysterious charge appeared on my card. I called that same day for an explanation, got the runaround and was told to call back the next day when a supervisor would be on duty. I did, was told again that the charge was indeed suspicious, and that supervisors (Luke or David) would call me back. Of course they did not. So once again I called them, 2 days later. Neither deigned to take my call and instead sent a message thru the front desk clerk that these charges take at least 5 business days to fall off. Still no explanation for why someone tried to take an extra $84 off of me. This is shady and inferior hosp management and I won't be returning or recommending this establishment.

We were visiting Joshua Tree for the weekend to stargaze and see the milky way. Decided to stay here for the night. Great spot. Well kept outside and in. Room was clean and spacious. Beds were comfy. Air blew ice cold. My kids loved the pool it was perfect for the summer heat.

Fantastic affordable motel. They have found a niche catering to the outdoorsy folk with a small gear shop (super small at this point) as they've only been open a few weeks now. I'm pretty sure this place used to be a worn down Travel Lodge. Everything has been remodeled and much attention has been given to the details. I review a lot of hotel bathrooms, and this one is excellent. It's not a 5-star hotel, but it's definitely a 5-star stay. Comfy beds. I slept like a baby. Thank you FieldStation!

Place was great! We were in town for a wedding and stayed here. Don't let the exterior fool you; the lobby looks like the inside of an REI with really cool merch for sale. The room itself was modern, spacious and comfortable. 10/10 would stay again!

My family of 5 stayed for 2 nights. The room was spacious and clean. The queen bunk beds were sturdy and comfortable. The bottom bunk was a perfect place for my 2 year old son to sleep. We will definitely be back.

My partner and I stayed for a night, on a Monday. We were visiting Joshua Tree NP. The room was both clean and spacious, providing a comfortable environment for my stay. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful, making sure all my needs were met with a smile. One of the standout features of this hotel was the overall quietness of the space, but I did stay on a Monday - which made for a very restful stay. Additionally, there were plenty of places for lounging (indoor/outdoor) allowing me to relax and unwind in various cozy spots around the hotel. I also had the breakfast and coffee, it was all very good and prices were comparable to other places nearby. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and pleasant stay when visiting Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley.

Had a wonderful time at Field Station. We got in pretty late at night (around 12:30am) and were greeted at the door by Michael, who was super kind and welcoming. The rooms were super clean and we had some nice desert sleep. They let us have a late checkout for free, and we hung out at the cafe for a few hours after. Amber made the best sandwiches (pesto turkey was amazing!) and was an absolutely gem. Will definitely be coming back and I recommend Field Station to anyone looking for a nice hotel to stay at in Joshua Tree!

I LOVED my stay at Field Station. The lobby, store, and lounging area were perfectly themed. My room was spacious and very clean. The bed was comfortable, and it was extremely quiet. I'm not usually a minimalist, however the vibe of the rooms works perfectly with Joshua Tree and as a national park lodging option. We were very satisfied with the food and drinks we ordered from their little cafe'. There is a fire pit, bocce ball court, pool, spa, and lots of games and books in their lounge area off the lobby. The staff was kind, helpful, and attentive. I highly recommend this place.

Clean hotel, nice pool, great location. But the best part was the staff, especially Sasha who checked us in. She was super nice and gave us great restaurant and bar recommendations! We'd stay there again.

Went to check in at 5:30 Pm Was told my room wasn't ready due to house keeping being backed log . The front desk person told me there was no extra charge for checking late .. ( never heard there was a charge for late check In my life) I've heard of charging for late check out . Made us sit in the pool and wait , which made up late for show in pioneer town . Totally unexplainable at all. This place is mismanaged for the prices they're charging people period ! Do not recommend this place at all until their get their act together and maybe hire more house keepers for the weekend when they're busy . They should not book people if they can't get them into a room an hour and half after check in time especially if people have scheduled plans in the evening.

I was really impressed with this location. Everything was clean and updated. The pool was clean and kids had a great time! I would definitely stay here again!!

The rooms are clean, no wall to wall carpet and great common areas. The location is a good location to local businesses (restaurants, stores, gas, etc.) and Joshua Tree National Park. Check in is 4 PM and 10 AM is check out. They have a coffee bar with food options for the mornings.

If you make a reservation at this establishment, be very careful before you decide to pay in advance. If you have an emergency come up, where you may have to cancel, they give you no option for this. They take your money with no remorse. Unfortunately, this is what happened to us and we will never recommend nor be making arrangements here again.
