I'm usually not prompted to write reviews for local fast-foodie- type locations such as Fields Good Kitchen. As a matter of fact, I've been avoiding Fields Goods Kitchen since it came into existence, which is kind weird...cause I love me some roasted chicken. If you not familiar with foodiegangsta reviews, I've praised a good number of chicken dishes (Fun fact: I once ate the love of my life at the William St Bareburger location. Of course there's a review. Check it out). See the thing is, I'm just not a big fan of Chipotle-esque spots that tend to hub around prime work areas. They're always ehh. Hence, why I avoided Field Goods but Friday night I found myself stranded, cold and hangry by Koreatown and Field Goods was bright and at eye level, so I walked in.
It was pretty empty so I had a chance to glance over the menu. I went ahead and ordered the leg, thigh, sweet potato mash, roasted Brussel sprouts with habanero salsa. They assembled it on a recycled plate and brought it out within a minute after ordering. I was super skeptical. First bite and the food was luke warm, which I kind of expected but once I got past the temperature, the food was pretty darn good.
My fellow platanos and peeps with a Dominican palette, the sweet potato mash was like mangu but with sweet potato. It was fluffy, tangy, cheesy and savory. The brussel sprouts were roasted to crispy perfection and the chicken was moist and well seasoned. It could have been roasted just a tad bit more (I love my chicken charred to the max) but the flavors were all there.
Honestly I would have given this place a solid four stars if wasn't for the food temp however I did walk in pretty late.
