They recently changed the Chef, some will say for the best, me, for the worst. I was expecting the same meals that make me feel in love with this all inclusive, but was not like that. As usual, some waiters are better than others and some make my wife and I stay here, special. That being said, I'm sure, this will be my last trip to this Hotel. If you don't want to go far to enjoy an all inclusive, then, go to Fiesta Puntarenas. There is no better.

This is my honest American review . I stayed here for 7 days 7 nights. I was located in the premium section. Food- the food at the resort was good but not great. Stay away from the buffet it’s disgusting. Pay the money for premium because you get a sit down breakfast restaurant/menu. You HAVE to reserve each restaurants days in advance. If not you’re screwed with the worst food I’ve ever had . -service- the service needs a lot of work. I think they need to be friendlier nicer and kinder. 85% of the workers can not speak English. The 25 percent of workers who can are the most friendly and nice . The “club “is rundown and only 5 people are dancing while the locals stand around staring. This location is local HEAVY. Expect to be one of the only tourists here and the people are not very friendly. Rooms- they are very subpar. The bathrooms have an aroma of sewage that doesn’t really go away. The pressure from the showerhead will barely get anything out of your skin. Honestly at the end of the day you get what you pay for . And for what I payed I think it was worth it. I payed around 700$usd for 7 nights and stayed in the premium w “better “ alcohol. The food is not bad at reserves restaurants. I would rate this place 3/5 . If you’re going for a cheap option this is it. If you have money to spend go to planet Hollywood. The location is pretty though nice beach . Nice pools if you’re in premium .

This hotel is not a five star hotel, just the views but not the actual room. They are very old with mold. The all inclusive is all a scam they denied the only two days we had to the restaurant "you need to make reservations". The buffet food was disgusting!!! They over sell this when they can't even deliver. We were a group of four and according to them only a max of 3 people for room so we ended up paying double for two rooms.

What else can I say besides all the other comments I can only say that the only good thing about this place is the staff most of them are very friendly and helpful I am not a pool person so I didn’t enjoy my stay the web show beautiful beaches and that’s why my family chose this resort but it’s very disappointing to find out that the beach is not safe to swim or even walk past the resort line due to the unsafe are to my surprise there was a huge alligator in the beach waters that was the top of the cake for us we booked for 5 days but I wanted to leave after 3 days but since everything was paid and probably will not get any refund I had no other choice but to bear it all. The food was ok nothing extraordinary most of all got some stomach issues not pleasant when you are vacationing, will recommend better food handling conditions the drinks are mostly watery but if you suggest they can fix you good ones, disappointed about the restaurant rules we could only book two out the 3 and were told you only booked one every two days. Overall not a place to return and do not recommend unless you only stay for day or two and if you are fun of pools.

I wanted an all-inclusive resort close to my home base an hour away and this was the closest one. My next choice was 4 hours away. I will be more certain next time. This place was awful! I signed up for premium and expected real VIP treatment. The restaurant for premium customers served a disgusting breakfast and almost worse lunch our first full day. The first day we arrived three hours earlier than check-in and had to pay $30 each for a deplorable buffet lunch. We weren't made aware of the specialty restaurants serving seafood in one and Italian food in another, nor that we needed to sign up for a table. They both were sold out and our only other choice was the deplorable buffet. We ordered eggs over medium and hash browns and bacon for breakfast at the "premium" restaurant this morning and the eggs were so rubbery, I couldn't cut the white of the egg with a fork. The eggs we were served initially were cooked in an oven instead of a skillet. We asked for fresh eggs and they complied. We know what to ask for next time. The bacon was way undercooked and the hash browns were way over cooked. They only serve margarine instead of butter, which tells me that they are cheap, even with high-paying premium customers. Fot lunch I ordered a chuck steak with mashed potatoes for lunch and specified medium well, I got the steak and it was nearly impossible to cut with a steak knife. I discovered that it was simply seared and not cooked. I asked that it would be cooked longer. They brought it out and it looked like nothing was done. I told them to take it away and bring me a quarter pounder with cheese, Well done! It was cooked right. We were warned about watered down drinks and tasteless food from other Google reviews, but we had to find out for ourselves. It was true! My wife ordered a piña colada three separate times and they all were poorly made. Negligible alcohol. At least the water they served was filtered. I gave high marks for the location as we did get a broad view of the Pacific Ocean but few people were swimming in it. The sight of several container ships staged around off shore didn't exactly benefit the views. The place is definitely "dated" as other reviews brought out. Peeling paint, signs of termite damage and broken pavement bricks. We had to request a replacement for the hair dryer twice because the first two didn't work. The thermostat showed 23 or 24 Celsius when we set it to 16. Even though it was somewhat cooler than outdoors, a better blowing fan would have helped a lot! I had a good night's rest on the bed and the shower was big enough for my wife and I to bathe together. I appreciated the safety bars beside the toilet as well as in the shower. The restaurant areas had issues with birds flying in and around the patrons. Iguanas were frequent also. The main redeeming quality of our whole stay was the friendly employees who served in various roles, from security to servers. Although we only tipped one time, I would have one tip for all the good people who are employed at this resort: find a better position somewhere else. You deserve more! Oh, and by the way, if you buy a piece of clothing at the gift shop, try it on before you leave the store. My wife didn't try something on and didn't know there's no return for credit or refund once you leave the store, even though you are a "premium" guest. Men, guard your eyes when you come. There's lots of eye-candy at this resort and you don't want your significant other to catch you looking at it. To add insult to injury, the only parking spot available for me was underneath a large tree where my van was subjected to constant bombardment of bird poo and the resort had no facilities for washing it off. The immediate business district outside the resort was so poor and filthy, I didn't want to risk having my car scratched. I won't come back Last, but by no means least, without a working knowledge of Spanish, English-only guests are going to be more frustrated than I. Fortunately I have a Tica wife, a Costa Rica native. Otherwise, I would be very helpless!

PROS / CONS REVIEW: Group of friends and I vacationed here in March for a week as an all-inclusive. We were aware that this was a family resort but not aware that this was a SPANISH speaking resort. List of our review below! PROS: - Staff is super friendly - even though there is a language barrier for some, they were all willing to try and help. The front desk staff was knowledgeable but I will say some know more information than others so it really depends on who you get - might be worth to go back and get a second opinion if necessary! - The staff they have for excursions IN the hotel are also very helpful and friendly and able to get deals sometimes. They also help with transportation if you don't want to travel by yourself. There are other folks who walk along the beach (in orange shirts) who sell cheaper excursions. - No issues with food as other people had - the buffet is pretty standard and has a lot of 'basic' options (like rice, beans, bread, pasta) so if you have a sensitive stomach you should be okay. Also there is no spice, so it's easy on your stomach! - The restaurants (there are 3) are also good, super salty food but overall, we had no issues and enjoyed the food! Good variety for 2 of the 3 restaurants. - Rooms & bathrooms are super well maintained - especially the bathrooms near the pool area, they are on top of the cleaning! - We did not hear any construction / reno noises when we were there - in the bedrooms or pool/beach. If anything, just standard lawn/ground maintenance noises. - There is a 18+ pool which is much quieter. CONS: - Spanish only - you will need to create your own fun if you do not know any Spanish - it is hard to get involved in the pool games/activities and night entertainment - not exaggerating when I say it's all in Spanish - so either brush up or do your own thing! - IT GETS EXTREMELY BUSY ON WEEKENDS. The resort opens up to the public/locals on weekends with day passes so pools & chairs get busy very quickly. - Pool chairs do get taken quickly regardless, pool opens at 8am & people leave towels and personal items on them as early as that so be sure to snag ones earlier rather than later. - You can only book 4 restaurants reservations if you stay for 7 days - we were told to book all them Sunday at noon at the front desk pending when they are open. Snack bar / buffet are the only other dinner options. - The room we had only had 2 double beds, but there were 3 of us so it made it a little squishy for sharing. Not sure if they had other options for queens. - Renovated rooms were clean and nice, the downside were the bed sizes even given the huge room we had. They also did not have any dressers so didn't make unpacking easy. Bring extra hangers. - Restaurants: Macondo only has 3 menu options & is the only indoor restaurant with AC - but was tasty! - Hallways in the room area are echoey, bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper - doors slams as well and happens often. - It is a FAMILY resort so be prepared for screaming / crying children! - The beach was not very swimming friendly - sand wasn't the nicest and it gets SUPER hot so make sure you wear shoes! Overall, the resort was a good break from reality (lol!) but don't think we will return.

I had the best time ever this hotel is very family friendly, and the activities are always worth staying up late for. The food was good. The people were nice. I can’t wait to visit Costa Rica again. Fiesta for the win!!

Where to begin.. Unfortunately there isn’t much I can comment on that was worth giving a better review. Service was good and employees were nice. The property was well maintained . Pools were extremely busy Food was horrible, 2 out of 8 days were bearable. Rooms were similar to a motel room in less desirable area. The beach was not safe nor would you want to swim in that water. This resort primarily cares for local visitors, night entertainment was all Spanish and focused more for local visitors. This is not a resort to vacation and relax. Construction noise constantly reduces and chance of tranquility. Our room flooded at 2:45 am due to construction crew , resulting in several people cleaning flood water off our floor for 30 min. This resort is not more than a two star. We would never return
