"Don’t even think about leaving Vienna without having at least one schnitzel dinner. Sure, you can find the crispy breaded veal and pork cuts at restaurants all over town, but where you want to go is to Figlmüller, where the pork schnitzels are a good foot in diameter and spill over the edge of the plate. Just minutes from Stephansdom cathedral, the original, rustic Figlmüller is tucked into a narrow shopping gallery between streets. Just outside the passageway, the Figlmüller family’s sister restaurant Lugeck opened in 2014 with upscale cuisine served in a gorgeous art nouveau building. Its interior is done in a contemporary beechwood look, and its front terrace looks right at a towering statue of Gutenberg on Lugeck Square."

My husband booked this restaurant as soon as we booked the flight to Vienna. I saw many people have been waiting outside, so I’d recommend to book it before. The schnitzel was amazing! The size was so big. They’re both great with pork and veal. But if you’d like to try the original one, I’d recommend the pork schnitzel. The service was spectacular. I don’t remember the name of the gentleman who serviced us, but he’s been amazing. So kind and very service-minded, also very helpful for choosing the wine. We love this place. The food, of course. But the service really made it better.

Google
Home of the legendary schnitzel, and it did not disappoint! The portion size was huge, crispy, and full of flavor. The place is often busy, so I’d recommend booking ahead. Despite the crowd, the service was quick and professional. A must-visit for first-time visitors to Vienna.

I’m giving this 3 out of 5. The food was great, don’t get me wrong. But a 45 minute wait, the food was on our table 5 minutes after ordering. It felt like an anti climax. To find out the main is quite expensive and literally comes with nothing else on the plate. Sides are all extra. Had the fries, which were mostly batter and very little potato. The salad wasn’t bad though. With a good mix of veg. There are better restaurants to visit where you’ll have a better atmosphere and not have to queue for a ridiculous amount of time. My bill came to about €74. Two mains, two beers and two sides.

Google
Overrated and overpriced. The food is nothing special — I’ve had better chicken schnitzels in Vienna for half the price. Actually they don’t have chicken schnitzel. I asked twice if the cordon blue was similar to the schnitzel but waiter insisted its like nugget so we ordered both beef and cordon blue. Beef schnitzel (€27) was disappointing, chicken cordon bleu (€21.5) tasted like a regular café meal. Maybe original pork schnitzel is good. Also they don’t give you water for free :) The potato salad was tasty but again overhyped. The younger staff were polite, but the older waiters were dismissive and condescending. If you still want to come, make a reservation at least a week in advance and please don’t waste your time waiting in line. I wish I hadn’t gone; I wish we weren’t such slaves to pop culture. I won’t be going back. It was not worth it.

Google
The best Schnitzel in town. They Potato salad - it something out of words. Professional and polite staff. We are visiting Vienna every year and making sure to come to this spot. Highly recommended. You can wait 1 hour in the queue to get a table but it’s worth it.

Google
Our hotel concierge recommended Figlmüller, and it was a perfect introduction to Viennese cuisine. The pork schnitzel was thin, crispy, and tender, but the real surprise was the potato salad — simple yet easily the best I’ve had. The tafelspitz looked plain but had the most flavorful, clean broth with tender beef. We finished with kaiserschmarrn, warm and fluffy with caramelized edges, paired with plum compote and apricot jam — sublime. A memorable meal, and the walk past Stephansdom and the Christmas market back to our hotel made the evening even more special. Highly recommended!

Google
The food was amazing! I had to wait for about 30 minutes, on a Friday night, for walk up but it was worth it. The staff was very kind, and multi-lingual so there wasn't any problem with translation. I started off with the local lager and the rindsuppe with pancakes (beef soup with noodles) and it was simple and delicious. I had the house special Weider Schnitzel and it did not disappoint. It was HUGE and full of flavor! The parsley potatoes I ordered with it were perfectly cooked. Finally I asked my waiter for any recommendations and he suggested a small side of the ligonberry jam. Good call. I highly recommend here. The only reason I gave the atmosphere a 4 was because I was a single person the seated my all the way downstairs and it was warm. That being said, that enabled the restaurant to seat me faster. I truly love this place

We had reserved a table and expectations were high. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The waiter was in a rush to take our order, most likely because of the long line waiting outside in the rain. We then waited about 45 minutes for our main courses, while other guests who arrived later were served much earlier. I ordered the restaurant’s “classic” pork Wiener Schnitzel — it was soft, bland, and completely lacking in taste. My wife had the veal Wiener Schnitzel, which at least had some crispness and a bit more flavor. The potato salad was excellent, but it was the only highlight. Desserts were a major letdown and far inferior to what we’ve had elsewhere. At no point did the waiter ask how the food was. When the bill came, I added a 10% tip out of goodwill, paying in cash. The waiter thanked us, wished us a good evening — and never returned our change, nor did we receive a receipt. It left us wondering if the whole cash payment went straight into his pocket. Overall, the evening was a fiasco. The good potato salad alone could not save an experience that ended with what felt like a “theft” of our change.

Yelp
I recently visited Figlmuller Backerstrabe in Vienna after hearing it's a must-try spot for Schnitzel. Be prepared for a long wait (it took around ~2 hours outside of normal dining hours and the line kept growing). I heard they accept reservations, but booking must be at least 20 days in advance. Once inside, the staff was friendly and offered helpful suggestions. Here's what I tried: - Schnitzel: 8.8/10: The classic dish was perfectly battered and flavorful, with large, tender pieces of schnitzel. Definitely worth trying. - Wienerschnitzel: 9/10: Also nicely battered and surprisingly a bit more flavourful than their classic dish. Another dish worth trying. - Viennese Braised Beef: 7.5/10: Hearty with tender pieces of beef. While the beef was great, the dish lacked complexity in terms of flavor and ingredients. Potato Salad: 8/10: Simple yet refreshing, with good-quality potatoes. - Kaiserschmarrn: 7.8/10: Softer than what I've had at other places, served with two types of plum sauce. One was fresh and refreshing, while the other had a more citrusy flavor. Overall, it was a solid experience with classic dishes like the Schnitzel and Wienerschnitzel.

Yelp
The waiters were very nice but the food was just average. Just a tourist trap of average food that was cranked out from the kitchen. You have to eat there because of the "original" schnitzel. - but I'm sure there are a lot of other places with better a better schnitzel at any other place in Vienna. Also pricey for what you get. Again tourist trap.

Yelp
This is know as THE place to get Wiener schnitzel in Vienna. For that reason there is usually a relatively long queue, but you are able to make reservations in advance. There are actually two locations within a block of each other. For two we shared an order of their classic Wiener schnitzel. A single portion is very big so they kindly cut it in half and we paired it with a potato salad. It was freshly fried and delicious! The restaurant is a little more upscale and it is reflected in the price. It's worth the visit but there are also a ton of other great Wiener schnitzels in Austria at a much cheaper price point.

Yelp
If you can, make a reservation ahead of time. But if not, expect to be in line anywhere from 40 mins to an hour. I came around lunch time so I did have to wait in line but I wasn't bothered because I was not in a rush. However if you don't have too much time in town you can also get a good Wiener schnitzel anywhere else. This was my first time trying this famous Vienesse dish and it was huge so you can definitely share. It was pretty tasty and it reheats well lol. I had the leftover the next day. The potato salad was delicious too. Overall a good meal. This place is probably pricier than other local spots. Service was okay.

Yelp
We shared their signature pork schnitzel and it's so massive that the two of us couldn't finish. Served with a single lemon slice so HIGHLY recommend the side salads for some acidity & sweetness!! Texture wise, it's more chewy (?) than crispy. Not bad or anything, but just not for me ‍ Probs would taste better with sauce, ketchup even, but that's very American of me.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! I come here on every visit to Vienna. Sure, there are a lot of places around that serve Wienershcnitzel, but this place still has a reputation and an old-world charm that is unmatched in any other place in Vienna. Make a reservation, otherwise, prepare to wait. If you're staying in a nice hotel, ask the concierge and I am sure they will get you in. The menu is small, but order the item they are famous for- Wienerschnitzel! I have eaten here many times and am always impressed with the size of the schnitzel! It definitely does cover the edges of the plate. Also, trust the waiter's recommendation on wine. He is not trying to upsell you. The Steak Tartare is incredible, but make sure you save room for the main event. The sides are okay, nothing spectacular, but they do go well with the Schnitzel. On my last visit, the waiter was awesome, friendly and funny and genuinely happy to serve us. If you are here for a few days, feel free to try another place, but go here at least once- you will NOT be disappointed!

Yelp
Fancier restaurant to try wiener schnitzel. There are two locations right by each other that take walk-ins (but seems like there's usually a line) or make reservations online ahead of time! Shared one Wiener schnitzel between two people and ordered a side of the Austrian style potato salad. Tasty and a good spot if you want a more upscale experience.

Yelp
Would recommend getting a reservation here since it can get busy. My bf and I shared the original pork schnitzel with lingonberry jam and the tomato salad. The schnitzel was just average - it was pretty dry and not crispy. The jam made it taste yummy though. It was a very large portion, so definitely shareable. The salad was fresh. I tried my bf's apple strudel, but it didn't blow my mind.

Yelp
Figlmuller has been open for almost 120 years!! One of Vienna's most iconic restaurants. It is an absolute must on your trip to Vienna. The menu is pretty limited, but let's be real, you only come for the schnitzel. The schnitzel is the size of a basketball. It's massive!! We ordered 2 between 3 of us and honestly should have ordered 1. It is so much food. It is expensive but it feeds a lot so the price makes sense. My only request here is I wish there were better side options with the schnitzel and they shouldn't charge for a side of sauce.
google avatar

Lou E.

Yelp
A rating of 4 but might really be a 3.5. I struggle with Figlmuller each visit. But the last trip to Vienna we passed on it. I have to tell myself this a predominantly a tourist restaurant. And when I accept that it's ok...and yes I am a tourist but really enjoy eating and conversing with locals. We arrive right in time for our booking and were seated immediately among all the tourists. We hadn't been seated two minutes and our waiter was saying "what would you like to order". At that time we knew we had to slow him down. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel with a side of Lingonberry jam and the waiter asked what side I would like. I asked what came with it and he answered "nothing" my response was "ok, nothing". He was rather flippant at that moment. Oh well. We also ordered the Rye Bread and sweet butter and an entree of Veal Goulash with Spaetzel and of course wine. We looked up and there was our bread. I looked in the cute little bag and there was not three but 3 and 1/2 pieces of small sliced bread... I could only assume the worst. It was ok. Knew I didn't need the filler. Entrees arrived and they were pretty sad looking... not like the schnitzel around me. Mine was two pieces not covering the plate and the beautiful ones around me were one piece covering the whole plate. Disappointed for the photo. It was very good with salt added and lemon provided. I have had better at less if a visit and which also included a side if potatoes or other choice. The Veal Goulash was on the verge of being too salty. We asked for our check and our waiter even appreciated his generous tip. Will we return...probably not but it is worth the experience. A bit overpriced. Highly recommend booking in advance as we sat by the window and there seemed to be a moderate line.

Yelp
I don't want to be offensive, but if you've had good japanese tonkatsu, it just doesn't compete. Also, the soup tasted exactly like maruchan.

룡박사님

Yelp
The employee brought the tableware and said, 'Nihao,' in an unpleasant tone. I was very offended, so I complained to another employee, but he didn't recognize what was wrong either. We are not Chinese. It is very rude of Westerners to say hi to all Asians, 'Nihao' or 'Gonichiwa'. It was very UNPLEASANT experience. I do not recommend here to all Asians. The food is just pork cutlet flavor and normal.

Yelp
A rather rustic setting for the city of Vienna, but the food was delicious, the beer and service spot on! Make a reservation. Liked it!
google avatar

Lisette G.

Yelp
We only tried schnitzel in two restaurants and theirs is better so is the potato salad that goes with it. Ordered both pork and veal. Got the tafelspitz as well, good for just one person. Beer. Finished off with apple strudel. Long line/long wait, waited almost two hours. Unable to get reservation.
google avatar

Tim K.

Yelp
Yes it is hyped, yes there is a line a mile long - make a reservation! The food was terrific. Their favorite Schnitzel does not disappoint but the real sleeper was the veal goulash for the win. Service is classically European - no nonsense, but very GOOD. 100% will go again.

Max K.

Yelp
We waited 2.hours in line for a Schnitzel, were treated unprofessionally and at the end were did not even get a table. A vaste group of customers felt in the same way as they refused to leave the venue after having waited 2 hrs and more in the cold. The employees did not care much about the customers so all in over we had quite a bad experience

Kai Q.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Bäckerstraße location. The atmosphere was classy. I had sourdough bread with butter, Figlmüller-Schnitzel, potato salad and apple strudel. The host and waiter were both professional and helpful. And I'd say that was the best schnitzel experience I ever had. I initially noticed the Figlmüller Wollzeile at Wollzeile 5. This location required a reservation and was full. The host suggested to try the newer location around the corner at Bäckerstraße 6. I'd recommend to make a reservation, as the line for walk-in can take over an hours.

Yelp
First night in Vienna and this was the star! We had Wiener schnitzel, Viennese potato salad and a fabulous gruner veltliner recommended by our server. Service was great and d we loved the food, ambiance and the whole package.
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
We were warned in advance, and so had a reservation. We arrived at the Figlmüller location around the corner from where our reservation was, and it took a moment to clarify the situation. Once we got to the right place, we were led into the lower level of a comfortable restaurant. I think we made the right choice, deciding to divide two schnitzels between four people: the schnitzels are literally dinner-plate sized. My wife finally got the top-notch schnitzel she had been jonesing for the entire trip. I didn't find either the mixed salad or the vogerlsalat particularly tasty. The restaurant doesn't serve soda, so I had to settle for a decent apple juice. We skipped the slight dessert course. Service was good.
google avatar

Li W.

Yelp
Highly recommend!! The schnitzel here is so so good, it's one of the best I've ever had. The potato salad that comes with it is also divine. I also had the fresh grape juice, that I feel like I could've passed on, it tasted like normal grape juice. We also got a beef soup type thing off their traditional menu, it was alright, nothing too special. The line moves quickly outside, we were probably the 8th party or so but we got seated within 30 minutes. Definitely worth the wait! Service is very kind, and it's very nice inside. Not loud or anything.

Sarah J.

Yelp
Excellent meal, worth the effort to make the reservation. It's not overly expensive and the schnitzel is a massive portion of delicious, tender schnitzel in a super light crust. Two people can absolutely get one schnitzel to share. We didn't get our lingonberry jam, which was sad, but everything else was delicious. Good radler to accompany the meal.

Yelp
I lived in Vienna with my girlfriend for two semesters at Die Wirtschaft Universität Wien in 1995 and 1996. Our apartment was in Floridsdorff, the old Soviet part of town. During our time there my girlfriend and and I went twice to dinner at FIGLMÜLLER, which had the best Schnitzel I've ever had in my life.
google avatar

Bob H.

Yelp
The food as okay I felt it was under seasoned , the wait time is to long if you don't have a reservation . The service was excellent and the waiter was very niece . I felt l was eating in the basement and I was so I didn't feel it had much ambiance but they pack the people in so a lot of people like it.
google avatar

Julia C.

Yelp
Completely lucked out with the wait. This is the most famous Viennese place to dine for their Schnitzel and potato entre. Worth going! Make a reservation if you can or wait outside to be served one by one -- the line moves very quickly. Loved the experience.
google avatar

Lani N.

Yelp
Figlmüller is an established restaurant known for their schnitzel. Of the two locations we went to the Backstreet restaurant as they offer schnitzels that are not solely pork based. This was by far, the best schnitzel on our trip as the veal was pounded thinly and the breading complemented the dish and wasn't overwhelming. To accompany, we ordered some lingonberries which were amazing and some bread. The bread may have been a day or so old as it wasn't very fresh. Definitely a place to go in Vienna for schnitzel as proven by the line that wraps around the corner. If possible, I recommend making a reservation on your own, or with the assistance of a hotel concierge, as we were able to be seated almost moments after we arrived and bypass a 20 person line.
google avatar

Why-Tie Z.

Yelp
What I enjoyed: 1) Potatosalad and mini salad What we ordered: 1) Big pork schnitzel (better than the Kalbsschnitzel one) but somehow was boring. It lacked in flavor, sauce or anything else. 2) Kalbsschnitzel. Is more expensive and much smaller and more airy, not as flat. I enjoyed the other one slightly more 3) kaiserschmarn- skip that, it's too sweet, soft dough. Not worth the calories.
google avatar

Allie S.

Yelp
I was recommended this place by others prior to arriving in Vienna so I decided to give it a try. While they have two locations, both places were packed the first time we decided to check it out and it was too late to make reservations for that week. The next day we decided to do a late lunch/early dinner and showed up at the restaurant at around 4pm. That was a good decision as we were seated right away. While this place has become popular with tourists they do make a great pork schnitzel. While it can seem pricy the schnitzel is the largest I had of all the schnitzels I had during my trip. We ordered some sort of potatoes to share among us but we each ordered a schnitzel which was the right decision as we both ate ours fully. Service was very good despite how busy it gets. Overall while it may seem like a tourist trap the pork schnitzel is definitely worth at Figlmuller.
google avatar

Suzie L.

Yelp
Wiener Schnitzel This is good Austrian fare - crisp fresh plate-sized schnitzel with potato salad and cold beer. We tried the Figlmueller (pork) schnitzel and the Wiener (veal) schnitzel - they were both delicious. Come early to avoid a long wait and come hungry!!

Immanuel K.

Yelp
I've gone to FIglmuller every time I've been in Vienna and every time it's great. The wienerschnitzel is fantastic and the waitstaff always make for a fun and enjoyable night out. Note that I prefer beer over wine with schnitzel and the original location only serves wine (I think).
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
This is good freaking schnitzel! And secret is out, because the place is loaded with tourists, Including many singles trying to eat one of them solo, which is inadvisable (bring, or find, a friend and share). It's off the beaten path, but with English menus and signs outside, you will know this is the place. The potato salad (which is actually part potato and part salad, not the mayo-based version), is the perfect side. Finished with a Sacher torte and an apple strudel, and the total for 4 with drinks was just over 50€ (with each pair sharing a schnitzel). The house white wine was very good - worth ordering a bottle for under 30€.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
My husbands colleague had a layover in Vienna and raved about the schnitzel at Figlmüller to which my husband then said "we have to go". To me it seemed a bit silly but I obliged and the rest is history. A little backstory for context, Figlmüller I learned was founded over 110 years ago and 4th generation family owned. FYI a schnitzel is basically pork, pounded out to a pizza pie looking shape, breaded and fried to perfection. We shared one along with steak tartare and potato salad. All delicious. I could wage a bet that chances are every single table in this restaurant will have the schnitzel on the table too. Call me Mrs Cleo. Decor is old school, a little fancy with white table clothes but reasonably priced. Ether go on an off time or make a reservation, otherwise come at your own risk and stand in possibly a 50 person line. yikes.
google avatar

Mimi P.

Yelp
First pro tip: Make a reservation online ahead of time. You'll thank me when you're not standing out in the cold grumbling with everyone else. Second pro tip: Split an original schnitzel with someone. You won't want to eat a whole one yourself. It's delicious, but it's a lot of breaded meat. The schnitzel with lingonberry jam is really good, and their authentic Austrian potato salad is not to be missed, either. We also ordered a side salad, which was nothing special as far as salads go, but brought a very welcome freshness after days of meat and potatoes. I've heard good things about the apple strudel, but haven't tried it. The atmosphere is classic and service was impeccable. A must in Vienna.

Yelp
As a tourist in Vienna, I highly recommend this place to eat the Wiener Schnitzel. The original location is so popular that they only take reservations, but they have a second location (this one) around the corner. We waited ~30 minutes in line before we got a table. My friend Sherry and I split the popular schnitzel (breaded and fried veal) and flädlesuppe (beef soup with shredded pancake). The schnitzel was on point and HUGE - you have to share it. Sherry doesn't really like fried stuff, but the fact that even she liked it was surprising to me. I usually don't just eat a chunk of fried meat by itself for dinner, so the soup was a good way to balance my dinner. It was good but a little salty. We also tried the seasonal Sturm (fermented grape juice with very little alcohol). It's a Vienna specialty drink and only available in September/October. We thought it wasn't anything too special, but we were glad to say that we tried it!

Yelp
Really hits the spot. This location is the newer addition to the Figlmuller name, serving the same menu but also has beer. Also with more seating so perhaps you'll have better luck with getting a spot here than the original location. Came here after securing a last minute reservation. Our waiter was very pleasant and the service is quick. We had a 'classic' meal of both pork (their original) and veal (the viennese original) schnitzel with a side of potato salad and kaisershmarnn for dessert. The schnitzels were excellent and I actually prefer the pork over the veal because I found it more flavorful. Kaiserschmarnn here is probably not that authentic because its soft, sweet and gooey but is perfect if you have a real sweet tooth like me :) Overall I highly recommend this place

Yelp
Omg! Amazing. We initially went to the wrong location, I'm sure this happens often because after looking for our reservation, he kindly asked us if we had a reservation at the "other" location. That location was absolutely empty, so we were seated immediately. Service was fantastic, we took a few minutes to look at the menu and realized all we wanted were salads and schnitzels, so we placed an order. Food came out within 15m or so. The schnitzel was not only fantastic, but absolutely huge, I mean, it didn't even fit on the plate. The potato and cucumber salads were also a pleasant surprise. We ended up ordering a whole another side of the cucumber salad because it was soooo tasty and refreshing. I highly recommend the three dishes that we ordered (schnitzel, potato salad and cucumber salad). If you come to Austria, you need to eat schnitzel, and if you eat schnitzel, you need to eat here. It was a little bit more upscale and formal than other restaurants, and it's so popular that they had to build this second location. Make sure you make a reservation (especially if you're going for dinner), I had to make a lunch reservation since all the dinner reservations were booked weeks in advance...

Yelp
If you don't have a reservation for the original Figlmüller, they will direct you to this location. The workers are always busy but that should not make up for their disregard for serving customers. It took a while for my friend I to get our menus and to track down our waiter for the bill. Food was pretty good. Food ordered: 1. Schnitzel: 4/5 - this was easy to cut and thinner than I anticipated. I love that the schnitzel was thin and crispy, and paired with a squeeze of lemon, it was refreshing and not heavy. However, personally, it was still a little oily and nothing mind blowing. 2. Potato salad: 5/5 - I love that it is actually scalloped potato with Dijon on one half and actual salad leaves with balsamic on the other side. Mix them together for a delicious and flavorful salad.

Yelp
One of our must do when visiting a city is to have a meal at one of the top or high rated local restaurant. Figlmüller was a few blocks from our hotel and so this was one of the first in our list. Dinner on day one was scrumptious!! The schnitzel was light, tender, and crunchy. The serving was so big but I found myself almost finishing up the whole thing. A side of salad is a great pairing, I especially enjoyed the potato field. Great service as well!!!
google avatar

Nilsu G.

Yelp
I went to have dinner by myself and the staff were very accommodating to quickly seat me at a nice, front table. While it is indeed very touristy, the Wiener Schnitzel here is just unbeatable. Probably could have done without the roasted potatoes; the kartofelsalat is the star of the show.

Yelp
Great food and great service. I got the boiled rump jelly which was absolutely delicious. Don't let the name scare you. I also got the Weiner Schnitzel which was on point! It's hard to find Veal at most places so veer from the huge portion and go with the original! Go with local beers and wine for drinks. You can't go wrong!

Yelp
As part of our 2 day stay in Vienna, we had to get Wienerschnitzel, and every single travel guide and website recommended Figlmuller. There are two locations to this historic restaurant, but both are pretty close to each other (~5 minute walk). We made a reservation for a 7 person party, and were seated promptly...at the other restaurant. Other reviews have mentioned this, but they seemed to make the reservation at the other restaurant and we had to walk around. Our waiter also spoke English fluently, and the restaurant seemed to cater to tourists, with its menu advertising the historical nature of its "world-famous" schnitzel. As good tourists, we all ordered one schnitzel, and shared some potato salads, lingonberry jam, and grape juices. This was a HUGE mistake. One schnitzel was larger than the plate. Out of 7 of us, only I was able to finish the schnitzel, and we had some big boys in our group. One of the smaller people in our group had around 1/5 of the schnitzel before giving up. The schnitzel itself tasted fine - we were also voraciously hungry before digging in. It reminded me of a Japanese katsu, except without any of the delicious sauce. This takes me to my next point - do NOT try to eat this without any sauce. I felt mentally defeated trying to devour a whole dry-ass schnitzel. Otherwise, the potato salads was delicious and the grape juice was fine (Nothing special). However, the traumatic experience of the schnitzel overshadowed everything.

Yelp
Really good schnitzel, there's two locations that are down the street from each other. This location lets you line up while I believe the other one is through reservations and it down a small alley. There was a line when we got there of about 6 people ahead of us and service was pretty fast. Line builds up fast but also moves pretty quickly. Bring your appetite, because one schnitzel was enough for two of us with a side salad and drinks!

Yelp
It was okay. More like 2.5 stars but service in Vienna Austria tended to just be bad all around. So we came in with a huge group and we ordered off of a prefixed menu. We got some mediocre options and they were all pretty pricy! I ended up getting the schnitzel because it was what they were known for. I also got the Viennese Soup with potato pancake strips. I finished off with the Chocolate cake. The Viennese soup was just 'okay'. Nothing real special about it. Super plain brothe with the strips. It was a small portion too. The schnitzel was HUGE, and it came out with a salad and a the salad was nice and heavy /hearty. The Schnitzel itself was just super bland and plain. Nothing that made it special. I found it to be too dry and some parts of it seemed overcooked. It wasn't juicy at all. It reminded me of a flattened piece of chicken nugget. So just mediocre. I also got a reisling to pair with dinner. Cheap and just okay as well. The service was super inattentive so we kept having to flag them down. This was frustrating. At least the food came out quickly! We ended with the Chocolate souffle cake. It was okay as well. The cake itself was way too dry and it didn't taste like chocolate at all. But the chocolate sauce around it was delicious!! I also loved the whipped cream! Yum! All in all, I think this place is overhyped and just not that good. I'd say, pass this place!

Yelp
A Viennese institution and a can't miss place to dine if in Vienna. We preferred the Bäckerstraße location to the original; the multiple small rooms for dining was interesting and the menu was a bit more extensive. Of course schnitzel is why u go to Figlmüller's but the bacon-wrapped goat cheese with arugula appetizer was a great surprise. I can't say enough about the staff. Both nights we dined here we came in without reservations. The hosts said "no problem" and asked us to wait a bit. Wait was 10-20 minutes. Our waiters were so congenial yet professional; excellent service by them. Can't wait for my next trip to Vienna and Figlmüller's.

Yelp
We love Figlmüller and I'm so glad I made a reservation before even leaving the US or we might not have been able to get in during our stay in Vienna. It's so much easier to make a reservation than to stand in line without one (and on the night we went, it would have meant standing outside in the rain). We shared a pork schnitzel (but I could easily have eaten a whole one by myself). We also had the field potato salad and the cucumber salad. Both salads were delicious. The place is always hopping -- and even so, the service is fast and friendly. Yes, it's a tourist spot, but so what. The food is great and we can't wait to go back on our next trip to Vienna.

Yelp
This place is fabulous!! We were in Vienna for 4 days in 2017 and went here 2 nights for dinner. We are planning another trip this December and I've already put on my calendar to make a couple of reservations while we are there!!! It is soooooo delicious I can't wait to have it again! There are two locations in Vienna that are pretty close together, so if you can't get in one you might be able to get into the other one. It's definitely worth the wait.

Yelp
Tried to first go to the original restaurant but they were booked and sent me to this location. The wait was maybe 15 minutes but went by quickly. The service was great. All the workers, bartenders, and my own waiter were are very friendly and made jokes. It was a very enjoyable experience. The food was also great. The wait is all worth it once your take your first bite of the original schnitzel and potato salad. Warning, portion is huge so bring your appetite!

Yelp
Restaurant is overrated. Potato salad is worth eating. Has great flavor and depth to the vinegar. Schnitzel was too big and cooked unevenly. Some edges were not cooked. Breading flaps off too easily. Too greasy and a bit salty **Order the cranberry jam sauce for extra 2 euros. Definitely better than ketchup** Subtle discriminations going on. As an Asian descent, Davor the waiter put me (solo) and an Asian mother and her son next to the men's bathroom when there clearly were room in the main hall and upstairs. Felt like I should leave no tip but tipped for proper manners

Yelp
This is the best place to order authentic schnitzel in Vienna. The schnitzel comes out on a plate the size of a pizza, so I definitely recommend sharing amongst your table. We also ordered the spinach dumplings, which were absolutely to die for. They were served in a buttery sauce and sprinkled with cheese. They get very booked for dinner, so I recommend making your reservation online in advance!

Yelp
I had the perch and my wife had the pork schnitzel. Pork schnitzel was humongous. We couldn't finish it but it was delicious. Thin and crispy. Waiter was very friendly and spoke English. Beer was so so. Overall a very good casual Austrian diner.
