Staff were very welcoming on arrival. Our room was lovely, there was a double bed and a single bed in the Frangipani room.|The outdoor bathroom was very unusual and took a little bit of getting used to - especially as we were trying to keep the mosquitos out. But it was lovely having a shower outside among the palm leaves. I wasn't sure if there would be ample hot water, but there was plenty and shower gel and shampoo are provided.||Room cons:|The windows had no glass in them - only shutters, so you can hear everything from outside. Wasn't an issue apart from a morning of heavy rain. However quite a lot of the shutters were broken so you couldn't actually close them fully - which let in extra light. |When people checked into the room upstairs, you could hear all of their loud footsteps up the stairs and movements around the room.||There are no supermarkets nearby (only a cafe at The Projects Collective which is open Mon-Sat 8-5.30pm and Sunday 9-5 that sells food, drink, beautiful clothes and souvenirs) so you have to buy dinner at the beachouse. Every day a new menu is put out with lots of options to choose from (see photos). All of my meals were delicious but I really enjoyed the Ika Vakalolo which was a local coconut fish dish. |Daily breakfast was white and brown toast, cornflakes, weetabix, fruit, tea/coffee and juice - and one day we were there, there was fresh scones also. Free chilled rainwater is available at the bar during the day, so you don't have to bring bottled water with you.||I would really recommend the jungle trek - seeing the local village, swimming in the river and drinking from a fresh coconut. We went kayaking at high tide which was fun (there was no one manning the desk so we just signed the form and took a paddle). |Some activities do not run everyday (weaving, horseback riding, etc) so I would suggest that you ask reception when checking in, as we didn't and had planned to do both horseback riding and the weaving workshop and were disappointed. We instead went for a massage, which I believe is on everyday. ||Late afternoon on Saturday, a band started to set up and played until later on in the evening. They were incredibly good and had a great setlist. ||Overall, I loved our stay here - it would be nice if there was a few more deck chairs to lounge in, as these got taken very quickly.
