Fiji Gateway Hotel

Stayed here for one night (and a day). Hotel is nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. The grounds were kind of basic. They have a small pool, but you really did not want to swim in it. Excellent and kind staff. ||The restaurant was acceptable. Nothing exceptional. Good curry. Decent breakfast selection. They only give you 1 hour of WiFi for free. After that, you have to pay FJD$15 per day. The free shuttle to the airport runs well. You can also walk to the airport from the hotel, if you want.

One night only before transfer to an island. We had a lonely dinner by the pool. The food was great and the service so attentive as we’ve found on all our trips to Fiji. ||A smile, a giggle and genuine helpfulness. The room was clean and a great size. Overlooking the pool we sat out after dinner and enjoyed watching children and some big kids use the slide into the pool. It looked like fun, but we were not game LOL. ||Easy and fast checkout in the morning after a great breakfast. All meals were reasonably priced. ||I’d stay here again if I had to spend a night on the mainland before transferring. ||Also a great base for those that want to do day trips.

We stayed at the Fiji Gateway when construction of its new wing was nearing completion. Construction fencing and noise were still quite evident and made the whole place less attractive than it may eventually be. But there is no hotel in Nadi with more convenient access to the airport. The hotel’s free shuttle runs virtually full time and the ride to the terminal was about 5 minutes. Surprisingly, we weren’t bothered by noise from planes taking off. There just aren’t that many. Balancing the unsightly construction were many positive things. Our deluxe double room was spotless and very spacious (almost suite-like). Food in the poolside restaurant was solid and reasonably priced. And the staff was uniformly warm and welcoming. It’s good to be aware that there’s not much to walk to around the hotel, but arranging transport to where we wanted to go wasn’t hard. We took a taxi to nearby Namako for lunch one day and walked back (a little less than two miles). Our outings (to the culture village and to Denarau Marina for a day-sailing trip) both included pickup at the Fiji Gateway. And a 15-minute taxi ride to and from the Garden of the Sleeping Giant was 200 Fijian dollars (about $9) each way.

An absolutely abhorrent representation of what a hotel should be. If you told me this was a homeless shelter, I just might believe it. Firstly, when I had checked in, it seemed quite alright. The people are very friendly and welcoming compared to most hotels in my opinion. Once I got to my room, the aircon was nice and refreshing compared to the humid air outside. I lay down for a bit and wake up to about 20 bug bites and 2 mosquitoes which were flying around from since I arrived. I thought oh well it’s not the end of the world so I try to connect to the wifi to pass some time. Only to realise that they charge 5 dollars per hour or 15 dollars for a day of wifi. This is such an outdated idea and is only kept by the hotel to increase the amount of money they make. Next, I had decided to have some dinner. The beef burger I had ordered came without any beef. Thankfully, the staff allowed me to get another one for free. While I was eating the new burger, i realised there was a clump of fake eyelashes on my chips. Not that bad, I can just not eat the chip it was on but it still shouldn’t happen. But then, I saw a small cockroach like bug crawl out of the pepper shaker which immediately killed my appetite. I decide to go back to my room and the first thing I’m greeted to is a cockroach just walking around. Chances are every room is infested. That’s not the only bug infestation though, as the desk had over 30 small spiders? crawling in it and also the shower had flying ants flying around in it. They don’t even replace the soap for every customer. If you stay here, expect bugs in your room, in your food and probably even in your luggage once you leave. The fact that this place has above 2 star reviews is astonishing to me. The only thing I’d give it is the location and the staff are good. Overall, it’s the worst hotel I’ve been to for this price, and the 2nd worst ignoring money.

This hotel is perfect for what we used it for. It is next to the airport, with a great free shuttle service. It is clean and tidy with a nice pool and cool water slide for big and little kids. It has a great restaurant with good service and food, which is very reasonably priced. All of the staff are attentive, friendly and kind. The bar is great! Ask Senimilia to make you her special rum and cola drink! It awesome! Senimilia was such a superstar and deserves a special shout out for her fabulous service and hospitality! We stayed one night before a morning flight home.||The room we booked was a small queen room as we were only there for the night. The hotel buildings were quite old but the room inside had been renovated. As advertised the room was small and basic.||Every time you turned on the TV it has no volume so you had to turn the TV off at the wall to reset the satellite signal to get sound. The bed was ok, not particularly comfortable but not terrible. The air-conditioning worked well so the room was cool enough.||The bathroom was small and when you opened the door to the bathroom it blocked off the shower.||There is no free WiFi in the rooms, only in the lobby area. The internet wasn't that reliable even in the lobby. Reception said there was also issues with internet access in the rooms for those who paid for it.||The hotel has 2 pools, neither of which we used. A small "quiet" pool near the restaurant and a larger pool at the back with a waterslide. There was a gym also, but you needed to ask reception to access which was weird.||We ate dinner at the hotel and the food wasn't bad. Big servings but a little bit bland.||We used the free shuttle bus the following morning to get to the international departures. We were picked up quickly and thought the service was good.||Overall, the hotel served its purpose for us as an airport hotel for a one night stay.

We grabbed some smoothies from here while we waited for our shuttle bus to the port and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Smoothies weren’t great but the dining and lounge area made up for it. Stunning space and interior decor. Close to the airport and ample parking.

One of the best airport stopovers I’ve had. My international flight was quite late after arriving from domestic flight via Savusavu - Fiji. Someone at the airport recommended using this hotel which is so close to Nadi airport and they also have a shuttle at the arrivals section of the airport. Paid FJ$ 40 for access to hotel facilities (pool, bar and restaurant), which can be used to get food and drinks. The staff were friendly too! Try the Indian thali curry, recommend it!
