Filario Hotel & Residences (Lezzeno, Lake Como) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Many of Lake Como’s hotels are palatial villas or neoclassical mansions, but Filario Hotel & Residences is housed in a former wire factory that’s been cleverly recycled into a luxury hotel with an infinity pool and a private beach. Industrial-chic is the style, all cool stone and glass that lets in abundant natural sunlight, as well as views of the lake. Guest rooms are elegant and minimalist, with natural wood paneling, white linens, slate bathrooms, and a private terrace facing the water. There’s a beachfront bar and bistro adjacent to a lounge area with four-poster daybeds, and a more formal restaurant has terrace seating. You won’t want to leave, but kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are complimentary if you’d like to glide out into the lake, and Bellagio is just a quick boat ride away." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel is set in a very spectacular location right on the lake. There is markets within a kilometer in each direction but the hours for those markets vary so be careful. Also the walk there is on a very narrow road with very fast drivers. As for the hotel, the room was spectacular from one of their apartments. The one thing that would make this a five-star hotel is giving you robes to go with the slippers they give you. It would be so nice to sit out on your terrace overlooking the water in a robe, or even to walk down to the beach or the pool in it. The pool is beautiful the way it's set right on the lake. The beach is all rocks but that's typical around here. They have a garage for your rental car but the stalls are very small.

Highly recommend Filario Hotel if you're looking for a memorable, peaceful, and authentic Lake Como experience with very few tourists around. Lezzeno is a lovely and quiet small town that is only 15 minutes bus ride from Bellagio. We were generously upgraded to the Junior Suite: a huge room with a private patio, cabana, and pool and priceless view of the lake. The room itself is very modern, clean, and luxurious. Pros: - Direct access to the lake, including lounge chairs and cabanas. - Delicious breakfast buffet - Hotel provides useful guides for restaurants, public transportation, and activities. - Staff were incredibly helpful in helping us navigate the public transportation schedule, giving a tour of the grounds, helping us book a taxi to Como, and adjusting the temperature of our room - Water bottles are provided - Bikes and kayaks are free for 1 hour (though we did not use this) - Lezzeno has a ferry terminal and a few bus stops so it's somewhat accessible with public transport but you do need to plan ahead Cons: - The restaurant at Filario Hotel is fine dining so it's very pricey - Lezzeno has a few restaurants but most are in the downtown area. The hotel is only a 10-minute walk from the downtown area but there is no sidewalk for parts of the walk so you have to be careful - In the fall, public transport stops running to Lezzeno end at 8 PM so we ate most dinners in Lezzeno itself. Not complaining since the restaurants are very good but it does restrict your schedule.

From the moment we set foot in the Filario we knew it was special. We were met by a very welcoming staff with Camilla at the desk. The view of Lake Como is lovely and this gem built into the hill above the water in lovely Lezzeno is breathtaking. We were escorted to our spacious 3 ½ bedroom, 3 ½ bathroom residence complete with a living room, dining room, kitchen and spacious patio with a table, couch and lounges overlooking the water. The primary bedroom has a living area and a second floor balcony with 2 sets of lake view glass doors. ||We had made reservations at their lakeside restaurant Yeast and lucked into their Thursday night barbecue in addition to their delicious pizza and salad options with a live jazz ensemble playing as the water lapped onto the shore. The staff at Yeast (and in the breakfast room) is friendly and hard-working. Our trip could not have been off to a better start. ||At first we were concerned not to be in the center of things in Bellagio or Menaggio, but were delighted at our choice. Lezzeno is a charming small hamlet with easy access to the ferry (a 7-minute walk from the Filario) and then close enough to arrange a car or take a bus to/from Bellagio or even Como when the ferries are too crowded or stop running early in the evening. It has many surprises in a secret walkway just above the road, other good restaurants, and a lakeside promenade. ||The Filario’s concierges, Camilla, Ria, Silvia and Emma, to name just few, were attentive to our every request. ||All of the food on the property was fabulous. Our afternoons back from sightseeing were tremendous, sitting in our cabanas and swimming or kayaking on the lake and being able to enjoy the Yeast menu and drinks, or jumping into the infinity pool just above the beach for an equally gorgeous view.||I highly recommend The Filario, another gem on Lake Como.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Filario! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side that week—unusually stormy for September—which impacted much of the lakeside area. Despite the torrential rains, Camilla and the team went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and still able to enjoy our trip. They kept us updated on ferry schedules and arranged alternative rides when needed, which made a huge difference. While we couldn’t take advantage of the beachside amenities due to the weather, the rest of our stay was wonderful. The town has some incredible restaurants, and we met several locals who were so warm and welcoming. We’re already looking forward to coming back—hopefully under sunnier skies next time!

We recently stayed at Filario Hotel and loved its beautiful design and perfect location. However, several issues affected our experience, especially given the high nightly rate: Flying insects in the room, which was unpleasant and unexpected at this level. Insufficient lighting for basic tasks like applying makeup. The bathroom ventilation system was not working, so it couldn’t remove moisture properly. The balcony light is automatic and shuts off at night with no way to turn it on manually, making it difficult to enjoy the balcony in the evening. Filario has great potential due to its design and location, but improvements in room maintenance and comfort are needed to justify the premium price.

This property is truly stunning, with breathtaking views that are hard to beat. Nestled in Lezzeno, it conveniently sits between the picturesque towns of Bellagio and Como. The rooms were clean and spacious, offering a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring. The service was also top-notch, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay.||However, as a first-time visitor to the area, I was caught off guard by the transportation challenges we encountered. While transportation in this region of Italy is generally on the pricier side, staying in a less populated area like Lezzeno made it even more so. The hotel primarily recommended private transfers, either by car or boat, to get to other destinations. This added a layer of complexity and expense that I hadn't anticipated.||Additionally, the food options in the immediate vicinity of the hotel were quite limited. This made dining choices somewhat restrictive, especially when we wanted to stay close to the property.||Despite these challenges, the beauty and serenity of Hotel Filario made for a memorable stay. That said, for my next visit, I will likely choose to stay in either Bellagio or Como to ease the transportation and dining concerns.

Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 college students) stayed here in July and it exceeded our expectations! The apartment was perfect for us to all stay together. The staff was exceptional. I don't want to call out any one particular person because truly, they were all so very helpful and pleasant. They helped us book car transportation, a private boat tour, and meal reservations. The pizza here at the hotel restaurant is some of the best we had in Italy. And the location is perfect. The hotel and town of Lezzeno is quiet and just a short easy bus ferry or bus ride to Bellagio. (We recommend learning to use the bus as it stops right in front of the hotel.) We're so happy and so thankful we stayed at the Filario Hotel!

Stayed two nights in the residences. Except for the view, everything else is not worth the value for money you get. - Design hotel? There is no design in the residences. Furniture is very cheap. - Breakfast personnel: some were rude and didn’t want to fill the buffet 30 min before breakfast ends additional 8 euros for eggswould not be a problem when you pay for an old, furnished, dirty apartment over 350 euros per night. - Rooms were not clean. - Gym without window, very small and bad smells. - The value for money for 350 euros per night in October, where you cannot use the private beach, is not worth it at all. - I’ve stayed in at least 300 hotels, this was by far the worst value for money.
