We were very impressed initially on arrival , glorious white soft sand and coral lagoon and long beach with direct access to the wonderful house reef . |The overall atmosphere was very relaxed , with the majority of the staff friendly and very helpful .|We stayed in an over water villa , very large and exceptionally clean , however very tired in places especially the floors which are wooden and are need of sanding and replacing . Our housekeeping gentleman was fantastic ( Kasheem) nothing was to much trouble , always had our soft drinks , water , tea & coffee replaced daily . A lovely touch of turn down service was also a lovely touch.|We would not recommend the Water Villa during the rainy season as the waves crashing against the structure during the night made it difficult to sleep . Also entering the water off the steps was very tricky and not for anyone that was not an experienced swimmer . |The Deluxe detached villas are on the lagoon and looked beautifully maintained . The semi detached villas on the main beach are very dark and looked like they needed some TLC , however no walk to the reef beach as it’s on your doorstep. |The main dining room was sand based with boardwalks to navigate around the areas with tables . |The area where the buffet was located was on very soft deep sand , this made it difficult to move around , most people were barefoot .|Food was very good , great selection , pasta station , fresh fish , curries galore , delicious ice cream & sorbet different varieties every meal time . |Sadly a big negative was the waiter , you are allocated your own table for the duration of your stay. |Our waiter was very surely , never smiled , seemed totally disinterested and made us feel very awkward making meal times a very unpleasant experience ( I do have his name and will gladly give this to the hotel if requested) |Our only enjoyable day was when a lovely gentleman from Nepal replaced our water due to his day off. |On our departure morning he didn’t acknowledge us at all whilst we had our very early breakfast , so upsetting .|We have never experienced this in all the years we have travelled . |We noted several of the waiting staff were standing around chatting whilst other waiters were very busy . Definitely an area that needs to be addressed . |The Sunset Bar was lovely fantastic staff led by the very friendly and funny Raj , afternoon tea with yummy pancakes were fabulous all staff in that area were amazing. |The library has a great stock of books ( lots of German books as the guests are predominantly from Germany) still a good selection for the Brits . |A small bar adjacent to the restaurant is very cosy again staff lovely. |The house reef is unbelievable, so many fish , turtles , black reef tip sharks , Nurse sharks , ray’s just incredible , it was very choppy but my hubby was able to Snorkle with no issues between exits 5 - 7 . Dont forget your reef shoes as the coral is sharp .|The staff who look after the grounds are so smiley and happy and worked so hard clearing the numerous leaves due to the high winds . |Would we return to Filitheyo , sadly the answer is no … |We have given 4 stars purely on the magical House Reef .
