Very cozy atmosphere. Some people may really like that only alcohol/drinks are permitted in the theater and not food, so there is less distractions and noises. Here they show both niche artistic movies and more popualr ones. I've always been able to find something intriguing on their list. Worth a visit!

Lumière Cinema Café is a gem for any history of cinema enthusiast. The venue itself is a great place, boasting wonderful light that adds a unique charm to the viewer experience. The team service is great (good English), with staff ensuring your visit is nothing short of perfect. Every moment spent here is an awesome experience, the attention to details is exceptional!

The Most Beautiful Cinema Theatre I Have Ever Visited (and I've been to both Tuschinski Amsterdam and the Chinese Theatre LA). Situated in a secluded nook some small distance from downtown Maastricht, across from a dime-a-dozen Pathé branch, Lumière breathes cinema and industrial heritage. Despite the wide-open spaces, it feels intimate and cosy, and the large restaurant offers both an attractive menu and broad views of the harbor it abuts. Add to that the excellent movie selection, and the kind and personable staff, and I'm halfway to moving to Maastricht just for Lumière.

The atmosphere was very nice, with an industrial yet romantic touch to the decor, a place worth to visit. The staff was kind, and they could also speak English, their cocktails being amazing. What I didn't like was when I ordered the fish and chips- , I was surprised to find that the fish was undercooked. I have felt the meat being a bit raw, yet I didn't mind it. But I now, I have a stomachache and have vomited... Please pay attention next time when cooking the fish... In rest, it was awesome. The fries were good, not too salty not too bland, the sauces were also good, and the salad was amazing. I have to give it three stars, for I know it wasn't something intentional for the fish to be raw, but do review the cooks abilities.

My favorite cinema. Old-fashioned, converted factory with lots of charm and style. Feels like stepping back in time. They have great deals for students and regularly stream old classics. Only downside is the no popcorn regulations, but what you get is a really immersive experience.

If I were simply rating the cinema itself, the building decor and its comfort it would be a very easy 5 stars, however some of the staff in the restaurant leave a lot to be desired. Went for lunch on a Saturday, it was busy but not full. It took in excess of 10 minutes for anyone to approach us to take our order - when we remarked we’d been waiting for quite some time, no attempt of an apology was made, we were merely met with silence. Order was made, including food - it took another good 20-25 minutes for food to arrive. The food was adequate. In the meantime, the waiter passively aggressively dealt with a British couple next to us when their food arrived and the wrong items had been brought. You ordered it, he exclaimed! Lady said absolutely not that was not what they ordered. Surprise surprise it had not been indeed and another member was standing with the correct food order behind him. I’m aware Dutch people are direct, but this was not being direct, it just plain passive aggressive and uncaring for the job being done.

What can you say about this place that hasn't been said. The selection of films, atmosphere, and appreciation of Cinema is spot on. I'm so grateful for it and happy to see it open since so many years. A critical part of Maastricht's charm and footprint in the arts.

Lumière Cinema is my favorite place in Maastricht and a must-visit for every cinephile. The atmosphere is incredible; this place has a charm that I have never seen in a cinema before - the film posters, the vintage style, plus the restaurant that brings going to the movies to another level. The staff is also always very friendly. Absolutely recommend!
