Filmtheater Lumiere

Lumière Cinema is my favorite place in Maastricht and a must-visit for every cinephile. The atmosphere is incredible; this place has a charm that I have never seen in a cinema before - the film posters, the vintage style, plus the restaurant that brings going to the movies to another level. The staff is also always very friendly. Absolutely recommend!

Great cinema showing a unique and well-curated selection of films. There is a large bar and restaurant upstairs. The only downside is that there is nowhere to buy snacks.

Lumière Cinema Café is a gem for any history of cinema enthusiast. The venue itself is a great place, boasting wonderful light that adds a unique charm to the viewer experience. The team service is great (good English), with staff ensuring your visit is nothing short of perfect. Every moment spent here is an awesome experience, the attention to details is exceptional!

I was in the restaurant and waited 20 minutes for the waiter to come. After she came, I wanted to order the first lunch from the menu but they told me that I couldn't order because it was already 4:00 PM, which is when the lunch offer ends. Thanks to this waitress, I was left without lunch, very disappointed with this place, although when I went in I really liked the atmosphere.

Lumière has everything you’d want for a fantastic cinema experience: beautiful aesthetics, modern facilities, excellent service, and they even host some really cool events. But honestly, the movie selection just doesn't do it for me. It feels like the programming is mostly tailored to an older, more pretentious audience—lots of niche European arthouse films or repetitive screenings of classics that don’t feel fresh or exciting anymore. I really enjoy good arthouse cinema, but I often find myself going to other theaters (with lower standards, mind you!) just because they’re showing more interesting films. I’d love to see Lumière mix things up with more films from the 90s to 2010s, or at least some movies that aren’t so heavily catered to European tastes (once you notice it, it’s hard to unsee the pattern 😂). No need to start showing Marvel blockbusters, but a little more variety would be amazing! Maybe check out what's trending on Letterboxd and bring in some of those films. I think that would make it a lot more appealing to people and move away from the 'Lumière movies' stigma.

Had a hot drink and nachos on new year's eve, after exploring the city. Wonderful café, with friendly staff, in a converted power station. Great ambiance, with nice festive decorations.

The restaurant is incredible, wish I could give 6 stars. The ambiance is lovely with an excellent selection of music and beautiful decor, and the food is outstanding! We had the Benedict and Florentine eggs and the banana pain perdu, absolutely delicious. On top of this, it's not expensive at all and the service is great!
