Hotel Filoxenia is a small hotel hidden in between some others in Portaria. The owners take pride in their quiet and welcoming establishment and provide you everything you need. The location is wonderful, and sitting in between the large trees on a sunny day makes you realize that you might have stumbled upon one of the most beautiful places in all of Greece.

We visited on February, not so snowy but the weather was rainy and cold nonetheless. We were more than surprised to realize when entering the room that the heating was already on and the room was warm and cosy. The room even had a fireplace and we were provided with supplies to light it up if we wanted. There are no words to describe the cleanliness of the hotel. Everything seemed sterilized, the bathroom amazing, seemed newly rennovated, nice decoration and a big shower booth to enjoy your shower. The room was so amazing that we even chose to spend some nights in the room, enjoying the fire and watching TV, instead of wandering around in the cold. ||||Breakfast was from heaven! Everything prepared by the owners and staff, with fresh traditional products, there was a nice variety and everything was hot and steamy. We loved to begin our days with such an amazing breakfast and it is safe to say that this has been our favorite breakfast among all the hotels we have ever visited! ||||The owners and staff we so friendly and always smiling, inviting us to spend some time with them at the fireplace in the living room. We cannot thank you enough for your amazing hospitality and we can't wait to come back!!

The hotel is in the very center of Portaria, just in the main square. The room is wide and comfortable, such as the bathroom with a modern shower box. The breakfast is wonderful both salad and sweet, with handmade Greek products, preserves, cakes and so on. Kritsa, her parents and her daughter are all very kind and helpful. In one word: hospitality (just the name Filoxenia means). Many thanks

Hotel is conveniently located on the photogenic plane-tree shaded village square and our cosy, well-presented room overlooked this area of gentle activity which was used for dining and drinking when appropriate. A decent buffet breakfast selection of cold meats, eggs, breads, croissants, fruits etc. was eaten outside. Our reception was friendly and cheerful, as was the general atmosphere, and the service efficient. A good value choice for those wishing to use Portaria as a base to explore the Pelion.||||Also recommended is the Kritsa restaurant next door with a wide selection of well-cooked, interesting Greek and local dishes.

Very good in all respects. Clean and cozy rooms in the central plaza of portaria. Reasonably priced too. Don't miss the breakfast. Almost everything is either locally produced or made by the landlady. My favourites are the apple pie and pasta flora. Some rooms have a fireplace. Excellent for relaxation and extra warmth. Nonetheless the hotel is equipped with central heating. Off season, during the week days, the majority of portaria restaurants remain closed. So, be prepared for that.
