Lobster Is a Lifestyle on Prince Edward Island

"A beachside restaurant at a resort that pairs scenic seaside views with simple, satisfying seafood; a sampler plate featuring a lobster roll served with hand-cut fries and house slaw was singled out as one of the trip’s best meals and vistas." - Wendy Pramik

Fin Folk Food was lovely. Owned by the beautiful resort to the left, and sitting beside a beautiful beach. The view is incredible, just slightly trumping their lobster roll (which is the best we’ve ever had). Their warm lobster roll is fresh, hot, buttery lobster inside a slightly toasted, slightly garlicky soft white roll. Delicious. Not to mention the fish taco which was also delicious. This restaurant is a must visit for sure. You can walk on the beautiful beach afterward, even go to the Dairy Bar lighthouse for some ice cream nachos afterward.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at FiN Folk. To start, the check-in / wait list system is great! We were able to take a stroll on the beach as we waited and see a countdown to our place in line on our phone. Very convenient! The meal was also great! I ordered the 6 oz Hot Lobster Roll and my sons ordered a 4 oz roll each. We all really enjoyed our dinners. The lobster portions are generous and taste great with the butter they are coated in. The fries are also tasty, proper russet potato fries that are perfectly crispy. I had a local blonde and a sour to go with the meal and quite enjoyed them. My wife ordered the seafood chowder and said it was one of the best she'd ever had. The restaurant itself is tasteful and modern with a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options. The location is beautiful, especially on a sunny summer evening. Highly recommended!

We stopped at Fin Folk Food on a Sunday night and it was absolutely worth the wait! I had the clam chowder and the hot lobster roll and both were outstanding, fresh, and full of flavor. Service was fantastic from start to finish, the staff were friendly and attentive. They don’t take reservations, so we waited about 40 minutes, but they take your name and text you when your table is ready, which gave us time to stroll along the beach and enjoy the scenery. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Been here twice and loved it both times. Definitely a place my wife and I will be frequently going back to. Had the fish and chips and a broccoli salad last night. So good ! My wife had the poutine with a potato salad. She loved hers as well ! They also stock local craft beer and had my favourite on tap ! We sat on the upper part of restaurant and it had such a beautiful view of the water and dunes ! Definitely a place for locals and tourists alike to check out !!

Friendly (and clean) dogs are allowed! That automatically gives the atmosphere a 5 in my books. That being said, there were not any dogs around when we visited. The food was delicious, especially the hot lobster roll and the seafood chowder. Another member of our party had the hotdog, and said it was the best he ever had. The chicken fingers were a huge hit with the 6 year old in our group, and the pan fried haddock with salad was also a hit. I had the fish tacos and they were delicious as well. Pretty much everything comes with fries, although you can swap them out for something else for an upcharge. We also had some cocktails with our meals, and they were all pretty bland. I would suggest sticking to canned or bottled drinks if you do want something. All in all the meal was good, and my wife and I did return for a second meal so that she could get the hot lobster roll one more time before we left the Island.

Tried the hot lobster roll (they also have a cold option) 🦞—so juicy and packed with tender lobster, in a buttery crisp bun, absolutely delicious! The seafood chowder was rich, creamy, and full of lobster, scallops, and shrimp—every spoonful was amazing 🌊. Great value, nice view from the second floor, and super pet-friendly with cute pet photos on the walls 🐾. Cozy and fun!

Google
What an amazing experience! This location is big, bright, and comfortable. They allow dogs on the dog-friendly side of the dining room, which also has an outdoor seating area with delightful views of the beach and ocean beyond. Every staff person with whom we interacted was incredibly kind, professional, and went above-and-beyond in their efforts; they were also sweet to our dogs. Our food was excellent and well-priced. This was both a stand-out seafood experience and general dining experience on the island.

I visited Fin Folk Food on two occasions while in PEI. The first was with a large family group for dinner. The second was with my husband for lunch after visiting the beach (lovely by the way). On both occasions we thought the food was outstanding. The hot lobster roll is one of the best I've ever had. The chowder was also excellent. Fish tacos were good. The drinks however, were all pretty disappointing. There were 11 of us in our group on the first visit. Those who got beer or a bottled/canned beverage were happy. The few of us who had cocktails were pretty disappointed. The drinks lacked flavour and seemed weak. When my husband and I returned, we stuck with canned seltzers which were more reliable. The service was a bit hit and miss. It is a busy place, so some confusion is understandable, but servers, while friendly and well-intentioned, seemed to lack training in some cases. On our second visit, when we ordered canned seltzers, the server brought the seltzers but no glasses. Okay, fine, maybe they forgot. My husband went up to the bar to ask for glasses and different members of staff looked at him like he's an alien. Then they offer him plastic cups. He says "Can I have two GLASS glasses please" and they grudgingly hand them over. Why is this a big deal or an odd request? Looking around, most people have glasses on their tables. Other restaurants would actually POUR your beverage into a glass for you and maybe even add a wedge of lime or something, but here plunking a can down is what you can expect I guess. At least the seafood is excellent. That is what we are all there for! Just expect a very casual environment and avoid cocktails made at the bar. Love Love Love that they have a dog-friendly section and a wall of dog pictures! I wish we had our pup with us when we visited. I would give them a bonus star just for this if I could because it can be very hard to find places to go with your dog, especially indoors, but since the food is prepared downstairs, the upstairs section allows dogs. Big kudos for that!

Yelp
What a view and ambiance. Really enjoyed our meal this spring when we were in PEI. Kid friendly, too. Service was solid.

Yelp
This was a beautiful place to have a meal looking out onto the water and sand dunes. I was going to start with a cup of chowder and have some haddock. The waitress was nice enough to offer me to have a cup of the chowder instead of salad that came with 1 piece of pan dried haddock. It was perfect size meal for 1 with the choice of 1 or 2 pieces of haddock. I prefer the pan-fried as it typically has less batter than deep fried. It was nice and flaky. The seafood chowder was nice. It was not thick like some other restaurants but had a nice mix of lobster, scallops and fish. The service was excellent. I also had a blackberry sour which was very tasty.

Yelp
2nd time to the island and 1st time here for lunch. Everything we ordered was delicious and OMG they give you so much fries which were crispy and good. Great service and friendly staff. Perfect place to go grab before or after the beach

Yelp
Nice setting Fish and chips not impressive Chips were soggy, fish breaded and a bit dry. Tatar sauce is just mayonnaise. It has almost no taste. $30. Not a great value for the quality

Yelp
Omg. PEI mandatory meal. (Maritimes mandatory meal.) Absolutely recommend the Fish Burger. Beautiful views to go with the delicious food. This may be a little out of the way, but that's a good thing. You wouldn't be able to get in here If it was easy to get to. Well worth the slightly "off-roading" ride. Service was excellent. Pretty much bring it to you drop it off. But you didn't have to wait long. Amazing given the volume of customers. When you think Canada, think Hockey and Fin Folk Food. Can't wait to make it back!

Andrew M.

Yelp
Fish tacos are outstanding. I had the sampler and lobster roll was generous. We were able to take our dog and the service was friendly and attentive.

Becca K.

Yelp
The food is fine, but nothing special, and this place is owned by one of the most hated developers on the island. The restaurant is across from a construction site for a brand new resort that clashes with the local character and pastoral setting. If that weren't enough, the developer drained a wetland to build without permission. Avoid! Not worth it!

Katherine S.

Yelp
One of the most beautiful spots you'll eat takeaway! Fin Folk Food is located at a former Island haunt, colloquially referred to in the past as "Pogey Beach" (Google the Island-inspired fictional film) because of the stunning beach location Islanders could access without paying a fee. The setting will take your breath away! From delicious lobster rolls, fish tacos, hot dogs, and chilli - it's a great way to eat and see the beach! Service is always spot on. Once you find the spot (plan for a walk on the beach or even a swim), order from the downstairs counter. The staff will provide you with a buzzer before you depart to find a table (beautiful views from inside or outside seating).

Yelp
Food was so fresh and delicious! Jodi was so sweet! We sampled their scallops they will be serving starting July 1st and she gave me a few complimentary to take with me when I told her how much I enjoyed them but we lived in Florida! View of ocean was just a plus! Definitely visit this restaurant! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
The food was excellent. I had the haddock and it was cooked perfectly, and the salad was fresh and tasty. The atmosphere and view are wonderful.

Yelp
We just happened upon this place after an attendant at a nearby market recommended it. By far the BEST LOBSTER ROLLS we have ever had! We each got the 4 ounce "hot"version which came with fries (also very good!) and the helping was generous and Delicious! We also ordered a cup of the seafood chowder. I could not eat mine-too full from roll and fries. Beautiful setting on the water. Well worth the drive-a bit remote.

Yelp
Great place with solid food and a great view/location. Service was excellent! Will return on my next visit to the island.

Yelp
Great food and location! My parents and I shared the fin sampler (1/2 Lobster roll hot or cold, 1 fish taco, 1 pice fish with fries tartar sauce and coleslaw) and 2 bowls of chowder. We upgraded the 1/2 lobster roll to a full roll hot. Everything was delicious. We went once last year as well, is definitely a favourite spot and we will be back.

Yelp
We were seated outside and near the end of our meal. There was a gentleman seated at the next table, it was somewhat windy and the freestanding umbrella was blown over. The umbrella landed on him and knocked over a glass bottle of water, the bottle then land on the patio and broke. He stood the umbrella back up, I thought it could blow over again, so I invited him to sit with us. He notified the young attendant and then sat with us. Within a minute the attendant brought him another bottle of water. The manager came out and they moved the table so they could clean up the broken glass. They swept up the area and mopped up the water, then put the table back in place. We had finished eating, I went up to the bussing station while my wife went inside to get a to go tray for our leftover food. While I was standing there the owner came by and asked if I needed something. I replied, no I'm all set, my wife is just getting a to go tray. He went inside and reprimanded the manager because I was outside waiting. He asked where the young attendant was. She replied that he was likely busy elsewhere. I expect the young lad was rinsing out the mop, putting the broom and dustpan away and maybe washing his hands. I felt it was very rude of the owner to speak to the manager the way he did, especially in front of customers. I felt that those two employees dealt with an unfortunate accident professionally an as quickly as possible. The manager apologized to the customer and offered to replace his food, which he declined. The owner is very lucky to have those two employees and should treat them accordingly.
