"Just north of the iconic Timanfaya National Park, in a sleepy, unassuming, authentically Canarian village, is this beautifully converted 19th-century mini-estate. The white-washed house and outbuilding have been converted into 4 charming one-bedroom apartments and studios, plus a separate two-bedroom cottage within the old bodega (wine press). All are stylishly renovated, with nifty kitchenettes, restored antiques, potted palms and succulents spilling from every corner (hence the house's name); and - perhaps the trump card - a shared courtyard with pool and alfresco dining area. This is where guests tend to relax and socialise: swimming in the pool, cooking up a storm on the barbecue, and marvelling at the island’s rugged volcanic hills from the comfy loungers. Although it feels a million miles from the bustling resorts of this small island, the house's central location means there are plenty of activities at your fingertips. The landscape has an extensive network of cycle routes (4 of which are on your doorstep), beaches are a short drive away, and you can explore the charred terrain on one of the many trekking and hiking tours available in the area. Grab your family or friends and embark on a few sun-warmed adventures - you'll soon be thankful for that notorious Lanzarote breeze! Highs The studios are great for couples wanting a cosy, self-catering bolthole The two-bedroom cottage is perfect for a family, with a double and a twin bedroom, plus a private terrace There’s a handy store room with a wetsuit shower, bike racks and a washing machine We also enjoyed chilling out in the subterranean library and reading room, converted from an old aljibe (water tank) Well placed for cycling, trekking and surfing - and only 15 mins drive from the beaches at Caleta de Caballo and Famara Lows Car hire is essential if you want to make the most of the island - the village is quiet, with only two eateries and a supermarket Kitchenettes are only equipped for light meals; and studio guests wanting to dine outdoors will have to use the communal table Be aware you'll be sharing the pool with guests of the other studios and apartments It's self-check-in, with no staff on site - but we found local reps responded quickly via Whatsapp No kids allowed, except in the cottage; and all the studios are double-bedded (no twins)" - Olivia Allen

Yet another wonderful stay! Clive & Val, January 2022 We have now thoroughly enjoyed several winter visits to the Secret Garden Villa. Its location, in the small village of Guatiza, is perfect for walking to the coast or hills. It is also well positioned for travel to the quieter north of the island. There is an excellent Italian restaurant and a great little village store. Gaby and Nick have renovated the finca to a very high, comfortable standard and are always adding little extras too. A warm welcome always awaits. The enclosed garden is a sheer joy, offering sun and shade as well as an eclectic range of sub-tropical plants. Its design is gorgeous and enhanced by subtle lighting that enables it to be enjoyed at night. Its seclusion and safety are most welcome features too. The property is a gem and provides a charming green oasis in the otherwise arid landscape of the Island. We recommend it unreservedly!

When we first entered the Secret Garden we were surprised and pleased at its spaciousness and how light and bright it was. The living room and kitchen area was like a summer house looking out to the beautiful garden and even when it rained it still looked amazing. We loved the many different areas of the garden where we could enjoy a glass or two of the excellent local wine. We loved the Finca and hope to return. As previously remarked, Gaby was very helpful and readily contactable.

A stunning place to stay for our honeymoon! The local restaurants were closed on our arrival. However, Gaby purchased food for us to get us through the evening, checking any dietary issues too. The facilities in the Garden Apartment are excellent. The garden itself is gorgeous. We tried some of the recommended restaurants. In all instances, the food was excellent, plentiful and great value for money. The last comment applies to Finca Botanico just as much. I would highly recommend hiring a car. Gaby recommended CICAR and they were excellent value for money and great service too. Thank you Gaby, thank you Nick. A holiday we will never forget.

We've just returned from a delightful stay in the Garden Apartment. Gaby is a thoughtful host and has thought of everything for a comfortable stay. The place is a good size, well-equipped and, of course, has a lovely garden area. We liked the rural location and it's only a few km from the sea-side. Five Stars all round!

We spent a delightful 10 days at the lovely Finca Botanico. The accommodation is spacious, well equipped, spotlessly clean and a pleasing décor. It was all we could have wished for. The garden is a welcoming, relaxing space with its beautiful array of planting. Gaby was readily contactable to answer questions which was very helpful.

Schöne Ferienwohnung in sehr ruhiger Lage, optimal, wenn man eine Auszeit sucht. Der Garten ist wunderschön, es ist alles vorhanden, was das Herz begehrt, und wenn man etwas braucht, dann ist die nette Gastgeberin offen für alles. Sonstiges: - Sehr gute Internetanbindung - Gut ausgerüstete Küche - Keine Parkplatzprobleme Gerne wieder!
