A Review of Finca Victoria, Spain | Hotels Above Par

"Perched on the cliffs above Sa Riera beach in Begur, this Design Hotels property reimagines a 1960s estate and artists’ hideaway that once hosted Dalí and his contemporaries, restored by Barcelona-based GCA Architects to marry Catalan farmhouse tradition with contemporary Mediterranean design. The 38 rooms (including 10 suites) feel sparse and luminous—ecru linen curtains, cream-colored duvets, white ceramic bathrooms with rainfall showers, and maritime-themed art—while standout accommodations like Suite El Torreón, set in the original three-story watchtower, and the aptly named Pool Suite with its private plunge pool, impress. Throughout, whitewashed stucco walls, original wood ceilings and banisters, Toba Catalana ceramic floors, and vintage wood furnishings channel the Costa Brava’s easy elegance. Common spaces invite lingering, especially the Listening Room, where guests spin vinyls while gazing through a picture window at the Mediterranean, and the terracotta patio and pool, where attentive servers are quick-handed with another drink or extra towel. Beach lovers can decamp to a private corner of Sa Riera, and chef Jordi Vilà of Michelin-starred Alkimia helms the on-site restaurant, Al Kostat del Mar; mornings bring a generous courtyard breakfast of Catalan cured meats and cheeses, local yogurt with fruit and granola, homemade baked goods and cakes, and eggs of any style à la carte. This 5-star retreat offers a pool, spa, gym, restaurant, and beach access, with rates starting around $300 per night—and if the steep hill into town feels daunting, there’s free transport from the hotel." - Catherine Tansey

Finca Victoria Hotel & Spa (Girona, Catalonia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Just above Sa Riera beach in Begur, Finca Victoria is a restored Catalan villa turned relaxed seaside escape. Its rooms and suites feature natural textures: terracotta floors, lime-washed walls, and hand-thrown ceramics, with options like private terraces, outdoor showers, or plunge pools. Guests can unwind in the saltwater pool, book a hydrotherapy session at the spa, or settle in with a book in the shaded lounge. Meals draw from seasonal Catalan traditions, served across two sunlit dining spaces. It is the kind of place where everything is designed to feel easy, inviting, and memorable." - Tablet Hotels

I could go on and on about how amazing my stay was at Finca Victoria. Every single person who works there went above and beyond to make sure everything was amazing. The room was absolutely beautiful and super comfortable. I was in one of the suites with a lovely patio and spectacular view of the water. Everyone who worked at the front desk and valet took such good care of me, helping me arrange transport to and from the hotel as well as taking me into 2 different towns as I didn't have a car. They also gave me great recommendations of what to do around the hotel, you must walk the Camino if you're there! Everyone who worked in the restaurant and kitchen went above and beyond to accommodate my very complicated dietary restrictions which is always a source of stress for me when I am traveling. I had a great massage in the Spa after taking advantage of the lovely saltwater jacuzzi. The grounds themselves are beautiful. I literally didn't want to leave and I can't wait to go back!

Incredible property with beautiful facilities and wonderful service. Finca Victoria walks the line between luxury standards and individualized care. They never forget the person for a preconceived service standard. The actual grounds and rooms are gorgeous and the amenities are plentiful, but that’s nothing without the staff. From the communication of the front desk staff to the pool attendant moving stealthily to sweep up old towels and reset seamlessly, they really made the experience sing. The facilities were beautiful, clean, new, and spacious and the location is stunning. ||It is QUIET outside of season which we did not anticipate and required some extra planning, but Shay made us reservations and booked the hotel van for transport (no extra cost). There are multiple options on site, but we wanted variety for the length of our stay. Special shout out to Shay, Laura, and Carlos, but honestly everyone at the front desk, housekeeping, Cala, and pool were wonderful. ||*Even the hairdryer was fabulous. ||Begur was planned as a one time thing, but Finca Victoria made me want to make it a regular stay.

I did as much research as possible before choosing this small, new luxury hotel with very few reviews—and I’m so glad we stayed here.|After navigating the winding roads into Begur, we were warmly greeted by two valets who immediately set the tone with their kindness. We handed over our keys and our beach stay officially began. Inside the beautifully appointed lobby, we met Noelia—an absolute gem. She’s a wealth of knowledge: professional, friendly, and genuinely funny. She gave us a full tour of the property while the valets delivered our bags to the room.||The hotel itself feels both expansive and intimate. Our tour ended at our gorgeous king suite overlooking Sa Riera. The terrace featured chairs, a table, loungers, and an umbrella—the perfect spot to relax with that stunning view. The room was spacious, quiet, and well-appointed, with thoughtful touches like robes, slippers, and a well-stocked supply of complimentary coffee, tea, and water. The bed was also wonderfully comfortable.||While the views from the room made it tempting never to leave, we couldn’t resist walking the short path down to the beach (a golf cart is also available). The beach house is fully equipped with chairs, umbrellas, towels, and water toys, with staff on hand to provide whatever you need. The paths and stairways weaving down to the beach are simply beautiful.||Beyond the beach, there’s also a pool and a small spa. The pool isn’t heated, so it was mostly empty during our stay, but still a lovely place to lounge. We booked the spa for an hour before opening time, since we were only staying one night. Though small, it offers hydrotherapy, a sauna, and showers, and felt like a nice little escape. Unfortunately, when we arrived, several guests had already let themselves in early, leaving dirty towels, glasses, and slippers scattered about, which was disappointing. I’d also love to see a steam room added in the future.||Suggestions for improvement:|Provide a complimentary beach bag in each room (with the option to purchase it later). It would be a thoughtful and practical touch.||For dining, only Cala Bar was open, as the larger restaurant was closed for the season. We were seated around 19:30, but unfortunately, our service experience was lacking. After being greeted and seated by the bartender, we didn’t see him again for nearly twenty minutes. Another couple, also first-time American guests, were seated nearby and received excellent service from a different server—waters, drinks, wine recommendations, the works. Our experience by contrast was disappointing. I’m not taking any “stars” away for this, however, because of the extraordinary service from Noelia, who more than made up for it. She is truly the heart of this property and deserves well beyond five stars.||Overall: Noelia’s outstanding service and the hotel’s excellent beachside location made this stay memorable. With a few small improvements, this hotel could easily become a standout destination in the area. I look forward to returning soon.

Absolutely amazing hotel, newly opened by the sea close to Begur. Despite some negative early online reviews, we found everything exceptional. Food great although they should sack off the Nespresso machine at breakfast (they do offer traditional decent coffee for free though).|Day menu was good, the burger we had twice, the garlic wood fire roasted potatoes that come with it are awesome.|Staff amazing, room fab, great shower.|Local restaurants close by if you fancy something else although I think some close at the end of the month.|Would go again. We had room 6 and stayed for 5 nights.

Overall loved this hotel for our honeymoon. It was a quick walk to the beach and also the pool was a great place to hang for a lazy day. Had a couple of complaints -- that we couldn't find the beach stand to get chairs/umbrellas and that they didn't have any availability at the restaurant and no openings reserved for hotel guests. We would have loved to have eaten there. The hotel was very accommodating re: transportation. They provided us with transport to and from the Begur town square multiple times and were incredibly flexible with it. And there was a yoga class one morning which was lovely! Would definitely return!

Truly 5 stars. We had a wonderful experience at Finca Victoria. The setting is stunning and the overall atmosphere is peaceful and beautifully curated. Although our room wasn’t ready at the scheduled time, the team handled the situation gracefully and made sure we were comfortable while we waited. Service across the board was warm and attentive — especially the valet team, who were consistently helpful and efficient. The Cala Bar was a highlight, everything we tried was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Breakfast also stood out for its variety and quality, with a nice balance of healthy options and indulgent touches. One odd detail was that management regularly used the “listening room” as their office space. It’s a lovely, quiet room intended for guests, so having internal calls or casual meetings there felt a bit disruptive. Operations are clearly new to the hotel. That aside, the stay was truly memorable, and we’d absolutely return. Finca Victoria blends charm, design, and hospitality in a very special way.

This is a new opened hotel which has the potential to become a great destination hotel. It occupies a lovely position on the side of a hill only 3 minutes walk from a beautiful beach. It is newly renovated and has a nice pool. Standard rooms are of a reasonable size, simple but very nice with good views and efficient and quiet air conditioning - which coped very well in 35 degree heat during our visit. Beds are very comfortable. A Dyson hairdryer and quality amenity products are good touches. A little strange that there are no drawers to place underwear etc. in. Food and drink quality are good. The hotel has a place by the beach where you can get complimentary deck chairs, parasols, fresh towels and paddleboards each day - a great idea. The hotel also leaves towels by the pool in the morning so those who are up early can go down to the beach (or use the pool) for a swim when the beach is almost deserted - a lovely start to the day. So, lots of good things.||As a hotel which had only been open for a week or so when we visited, there are some inevitably some issues/teething problems for the hotel to resolve. These revolve mainly around food and beverage service and some housekeeping issues. I raised concerns to management and post our visit the Rooms Division Manager got in touch with me to find out more details such that the hotel could fully understand them in order to continually improve the offering. Things do go wrong and it is how you deal with them that is key and it was excellent to have a very open conversation with the manager who was keen to have the feedback. To me this is a sign of a business which wants to get things right, and with this mindset one can reasonably take the view that teething issues will be resolved quickly.||We look forward to returning…..

We had a wonderful stay at Finca Victoria. I booked relatively last minute for 3 nights to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The staff were so kind and friendly and really made her feel special. The bedroom was very comfortable and spacious. Good size bathroom and shower. We had a balcony with a view of the sea. We ate in the excellent restaurant. We were lucky to get a table as I had not pre-booked. If you go at high season do book in advance. It is really lovely and I am sure will become a destination restaurant outside of the hotel. The pool area is lovely with a very chilled vibe and a lovely bar serves delicious food and a mean cocktail! The beach was heavenly and made all the more lovely by the little Finca having a little house providing you with sunbeds, towels and umbrellas. There is also a shuttle service (when available) to visit other coves and beaches. Next time we will get a boat for a few hours to explore. There was a spa with a sauna, jacuzzi and treatments. I thought this was quite expensive and you had to book and pay to use the jacuzzi and sauna. We didn't bother as the pool and beach was enough for our short stay. I cannot recommend this little corner of Spain enough and would highly recommend the Finca Victoria.
