"At Firefly Bequia Plantation, the restaurant and bar overlook a 28-acre plantation and the sea beyond. While the restaurant is open to hotel guests and visitors alike, breakfast is mostly a local affair. Just like at sister property Firefly Mustique, however, those in the know stop by the bar around sundown for tropical cocktails and snacks. Come dinnertime, the atmosphere turns romantic, with diners enjoying modern Caribbean dishes under flickering lanterns. During the high season, the restaurant also offers special barbecue and Creole nights for a fun twist on local dining."

"Located just two miles north of Port Elizabeth, on an 18th-century sugar plantation and working sea salt farm that overlooks Spring Bay, Firefly Bequia has all the sophistication of its sister accommodations on tony Mustique. Scattered along the hillside to maximize ocean views, the four suites and one two-bedroom cottage are outfitted with king-size four-poster beds, indoor-outdoor showers, and rattan ceiling fans that recall the island’s colonial past. Though it’s a five-minute walk to the beach, you’ll spot the remnants of the plantation’s original sugar mill, a croquet lawn and swimming pool, and the hotel’s resident goats along the way. Upon your return, a cocktail in the stone bar, where green bananas hang like chandeliers, is just the thing to ease you into a star-filled night."

Firefly Estates in Bequia is an idyllic enclave in the middle of an island paradise. It offers the most elusive of luxuries: privacy and quiet. With just four gorgeous (and large) suites, each with expansive balconies and views of the beach in the distance, it has a degree of luxury that will be appreciated by discerning travellers. The king size beds have high quality linens and great pillows, the towels are fluffy and freshly laundered every day, and the housekeeping staff are marvelous. The joy of arriving back to an impeccably clean room and freshly made bed after a sandy day at the beach cannot be overestimated. The rooms do not have TV's - rather you will find lots of novels just begging to be read by the tranquil pool surrounded by swaying palms. If you book directly with the hotel breakfast is included and it was a highlight of our day - fresh fruits and coconut water, locally sourced eggs and home made toast. The hotel is on a plantation about ten minutes inland from the beach - again for us a plus as we loved the beautiful seclusion and blissful quiet of the location. We booked a driver for the whole stay and went back and forth a few times a day with zero issues, and paid one fee at the end which was super reasonable. (Gunno was our driver he is great BTW). We just celebrated our wedding anniversary at Firefly and can confirm that it is also very romantic in a way that a large traditional hotel is not. The hotel makes fabulous pina coladas with coconut from the plantation, and the lionfish is a must try if its on the menu. Cannot recommend this hotel enough.

We booked our stay at the Firefly at relatively short notice as our original plan was to visit and stay on Union Island. However, Hurricane Beryl destroyed the place we had booked last year and the rebuilding wasn’t complete in time for our visit. We were attracted to the Firefly because it’s a small boutique hotel and offers a very different experience to the beachfront accommodation, which we had stayed in, and enjoyed, during our first week on Bequia. ||We arrived at the Firefly very early but the hotel kindly allowed us to leave our luggage in their safe keeping and enjoy the pool and grounds until we could check in to our room. Our room was exceptionally spacious with a huge bed, complete with mosquito net, 2 sinks, 2 showers and a large terrace. Thanks to Judith for making our room look wonderful each day. ||The pool area is lovely and we enjoyed having the space all to ourselves on most days of our stay. The gardens are beautiful and there is also a cross country 9 hole golf course. You can also play croquet or rake a tour of the estate (see separate review). ||The restaurant is great and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner (again, see separate review). Big thanks to Eddy for looking after us in the restaurant and bar area! ||Communication from Liz before our arrival was great and we appreciated her extended kindness when our flight home was changed at short notice. ||All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Recommended.

We had a wonderful week at The Firefly Estate Bequia. Our rooms were large and absolutely beautiful. They were very well appointed with a separate bathroom, double shower room, changing area and bedroom with large, super-comfortable, four poster bed. They were immaculately turned down every day whilst we were out exploring Bequia. The Firefly is not a flashy place. It is a very welcoming and relaxing hidden gem, up on the hill, a little bit away from the bustle of the harbour but within a very easy shuttle ride. The views are gorgeous. Jungle, plantation, lawns, palm trees and the sea twinkling a short walk away. The pool is down several steps so this is a hotel for people with good mobility. The water is an absolutely lovely temparature and we could watch humming birds feeding from the flowers around us. Breakfast is in a nicely decorated open sided area where you can look out through jungle plants to the view beyond and be entertained by little birds hopping through the leaves and the geckos above you. Liz the owner checked in on us very gently a couple of times to make sure everything was going OK and the staff were friendly and relaxed. Overall, the relaxed and gentle vibe of the place suited us perfectly and we would definitely recommend. Bequia itself has a similarly relaxed vibe and the most amazing crystal blue sea and clean beaches. A wonderful trip.

Firefly is definitely one of the best boutique hotels I have ever stayed in. It helps that the Firefly estate is absolutely beautiful and that my cottage was divine, but what really makes it are the staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. |Special thanks to Eddie who runs front of house and Judith my house keeper. Guys you are amazing at what you do. The location in the hills in Spring means there is a constant breeze which keeps it cool and pretty much mosquito free. The food in the restaurant is exceptional. Best Sword fish I have ever eaten in my 58 years of traveling the Caribbean. I think it is extremely reasonably priced for what it is and will be returning in March! Couple of caveats: You are in the hills overlooking the Atlantic side, so the Caribbean side beaches of Princess Margaret, Lower bay and Friendship are about a 10 minute cab ride away. Cabs are cheap enough and easy to get even late at night. I hired a jeep from Bronte at Gideon and would highly recommend them too. Gives you total flexibility to come and go as you choose. Also if you have mobility issues - there are a lot of steps. My Apple Watch was very impressed with “workouts”! |Thank you to Miss Elizabeth - the owner - what an amazing stay. You are a wonderful hotelier.

The Firefly Hotel has its own 9 hole PAR 3.Golf Course in a beautiful setting among the trees on the estate. Clubs (you 'need' only one club... most of us use a 9 or a wedge), balls and Tees are provided... perfect ambience. Great Bar and some of the best food on the island..... Day Rates and Annual Memberships are available. There are several groups playing regularly so it is easy to join in if you are a 'solo' golfer. ...

We did the garden tour followed by lunch. The garden was fascinating seeing and tasting tropical fruits. Lunch was delicious. A short hike up from Port Elizabeth or take a taxi. A lovely day out.

My fella and I were fortunate to stay at Firefly for the Christmas Holiday and through New Years, about two weeks, although it took about a day and a half to get there from Jackson, Wyoming. |Really one of the best experiences I have had, and I would recommend it to anyone. It is quiet, serene and far enough away from the party scene, but close enough you can take a 10 minute taxi ride and be in the thick of it. The beach is close by, 5 minute walk, it is truly wild, no chairs or people, and really a delight to experience. We used Gunno’s Taxi Service, the entire time, and he did an excellent job taking us where we needed to go, and even picked us up early a couple of days when we went sailing, and when we had an early start for a hike up to Mt Peggy. ||The hospitality was very good, Liz was wonderful and very attentive to everything, and the dogs were a delight! Jack and Duke and little Hazel and Hope. We were given a complimentary drink (rum punch) upon arrival, and room service as we had come in on the later ferry from St Vincent. |The room was absolutely beautiful, very spacious, clean, amazing closet and bathroom amenities, hair dryer and flat iron are provided. Great WiFi, fast and easy. The double shower is amazing, the water is hot, the hair care products and shower gel smelled divine. There was a small refrigerator in the room which was perfect for us, you can shop in town for groceries, beer, just a place to keep your snacks! The housekeeper, Judith, does a superior job EVERY DAY they make up your room, it’s perfect every day, you come back from your daily adventure and just hang out on the large lounge on the balcony, read a book, etc.|The pool is also a treat, comfortable and clean, there is shade, a couple of cabanas and towels are provided in the room and at the pool in the two little cabanas.|The restaurant provides a VERY LARGE breakfast every day, (get the honey lemongrass tea) and Eddie provides the very best of service both for breakfast and dinner (have the Lion Fish) and Liz did a special dinner for us the last night we were there of fresh caught yellowfin tuna carpaccio and ceviche, but all the food was excellent. Eddie was able to prepare some yogurt, granola, and honey for our early morning excursions and leave them in our fridge! |Try to buy some salt at the Grenadine salt shop on the property, and if they have any left, the salt scrub, it’s absolutely amazing and smells like the ocean.|Liz was a wonderful hostess, we can’t wait to come back. We didn’t want to leave!

This is such a special place, I can't really begin to properly describe quite how wonderful it is. There are only 4 couples rooms all designed to provide complete privacy. They are all simply but elegantly furnished to a very high standard whilst totally in keeping with the hillside location. The staff were never in your face but never far away to sort whatever your heart desires. Breakfast was just divine. My husband enjoyed the tour and the golf but I wasn't going to miss a second of that fabulous view from our balcony. There could be no place better to get away from it all yet we were able to walk to St Margaret's beach when I yearned for some snorkeling!
