Easy reservations/check-in/check-out; A Clean Well Lighted Place. Simple yet generous breakfast; Happy Hour met nice people and well behaved dogs. Yes, dog friendly. Great value > will be back again.

A Perfect Getaway - Truly Amazing Experience! We recently had the pleasure of staying at Fireside Lodge, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The hosts (Tracy and Steve) were warm, welcoming, and attentive to every detail, ensuring our stay was comfortable and memorable. The room (Pioneer Room) was so cute. A blend of rustic charm with modern comforts. Breakfast each morning was a highlight. My husband particularly enjoyed the homemade Belgian waffles and every topping you can imagine. The dining area is cozy and feels like home, making breakfast a truly relaxing experience. The property itself is adorable—complimentary cruiser bikes that we used everyday, serene outdoor seating areas, and of course amazing views that made it hard to leave. The hosts even provided great recommendations for local attractions and restaurants, helping us make the most of our time in the area. Overall, Fireside Lodge provided an exceptional experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful, charming escape with top-notch hospitality, I highly recommend staying here. We can’t wait to return!

If you’re looking for quint and charm, this is the place. I’ve never been to a more pet friendly and customer centered place in my life. The staff are all exceptionably courteous and friendly. Our favs are Leo, Daisy, and Kai, the only ones with four legs and wagging tails. :) Perks: daily breakfast, happy hour, and s’mores. The game room is awesome. We can’t wait to return!

We were blown away by how personable, welcoming and accommodating the hosts are! The included breakfast was plentiful and fun and we enjoyed the "happy hour" with complimentary wine/drinks and cheese/crackers, and charcuteries. So many other extras: loaner bicycles, s'mores at the firepit, large collection of loaner DVDs and games, fully stocked honor bar, sauna, hammocks... if we had more fully realized how convenient and amenity-rich the property was, we have booked a longer stay.

The Fireside Lodge is absolutely incredible and 100% recommend it for anyone who wants to get the true Lake Tahoe experience. The property is so cute and captures every detail and really made our experience great. Included in on the property retroarcade, breakfast bar, self-serve cocktail bar / beer fridge, firepit, and dog play area. Complimentary with your stay is breakfast, wine / cheese every night from 5-7pm, smoresbar, and bikes for riding around the local paths. The staff really goes the extra mile to make your experience a great one, and my wife and I will definitely stay here again during our next trip to Tahoe.

A Warm and Memorable Stay at Fireside Lodge We stayed at the Fireside Lodge in South Lake Tahoe for one night, and it was such a heartwarming experience. Hosts Tracy and Steve were incredibly kind and welcoming, treating us more like family than guests. The photo I’ve shared shows them preparing breakfast in the dining room, tidying dishes with care—a perfect glimpse into the warm and inviting atmosphere they’ve created here. We arrived late at night two weeks ago to a snowy South Lake Tahoe. Thanks to their convenient non-contact check-in system, we easily got into our room. The room exceeded all expectations—it was clean, cozy, and welcoming, complete with a fireplace that quickly melted away the winter chill. Adjacent to the bedroom was a small kitchen and dining table, which was even better in person than in the pictures. Waking up to a fresh cup of coffee and gazing out the kitchen window at the snow-covered wonderland was pure joy. The bathroom was compact but spotless and perfectly functional. In the morning, we visited the office and were greeted by the smell of delicious homemade waffles. Guests gathered for breakfast, creating an atmosphere that felt more like being at a relative’s home than a lodge. As someone without family in the U.S., this experience was especially heartwarming—like being invited into a family gathering for a meal. The dining room is right next to an arcade space that’s perfect for families and a quiet reading area for adults. On the wall, a sign reads, “In the mountains, life slows down, and friends stay longer.” It perfectly captures the essence of this place. Fireside Lodge’s location is also a big plus. It’s just a 5–10 minute drive to the breathtaking Emerald Bay State Park, Heavenly Ski Resort, and some fantastic restaurants. Super convenient! We’re already planning to return for a longer stay. Tracy and Steve, thank you for everything—you made our trip unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back to see you again!

Had a fantastic stay! A huge thank you to Eric and Olivia for going above and beyond—they helped us with the grill when it ran out of gas, even though it was after hours. Their hospitality made our experience extra memorable. The hotel was cozy, well-maintained, and perfect for a Lake Tahoe getaway. I’m already looking forward to returning next year!

This place is amazing!! The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are so comfortable. They have thought of everything to make your stay here fantastic! The breakfast is great! We would definitely stay here again if we return back to Tahoe!

Yelp
4th time here. Our favorite laid back people & dog and friendly comfortable place to stay in Tahoe. Our 1st time here was Nov 2019. The family that owns & hosts this establishment couldn't be more accommodating. They get one of my world famous 3 Thumbs up!

Jeff I.

Yelp
Great place! Staff is super friendly and helpful. The happy hour, sauna, and comfy lounge make it special.

Yelp
We were on a 14 day road trip (here 8/30) with our 6lb dog and this seemed like a good option for pet friendly hotels in Tahoe. When we first booked rooms online for our trip there was no mention of no A/C on their website in the room. After double checking the website later it did seem a little misleading. The main issue was we were in a corner room, there was no front window for circulation and it was 85 degrees. They had a window type fan, which we used but that room is right on the street so there was traffic noise all night. The satellite would not connect with the TV. Ceiling fan wobbled loudly like it was going to fall out. Bathroom faucet was ready to fall off the sink. For the almost $500 per night price point we didn't have a memorable experience and will probably not be returning to Fireside unfortunately.

Hannah J.

Yelp
This was my 3rd staying here. I will not stay anywhere in Tahoe but fireside lodge. First time I went with my husband and another couple. Second time with some friends on a girl trip. And this recent time with my husband, daughter and our dog. I can't ask for a better place to stay. The employees who work there are all family and you really get a sense of family when you are there. We will be back next year!

Yelp
Fantastic in every way! We stayed for one night with our newly adopted 10 year old dog. He loved it and so did we. Ben, one of the owners, who greeted us with his dog Kai was outstanding. They treat you like family. The property is an older motel, that I remember from when I was a child, that has been beautifully converted into an adorable, spotless B&B with all the modern conveniences. We stayed in The Moose Room which was great with two beds, one king and one queen, a fully stocked kitchenette with microwave, coffee pot, toaster, a good size freezer/fridge and the bathroom was very nice, modern and spotless. The beds were very comfortable. There is a fireplace in They provide dog water & food bowls with a mat to put them on, a blanket for the bed, a towel to wipe paws if needed and dog treats! What more could Charlie ask for...oh, and he got lots of pets from the owners and fellow guests! The happy hour is lovely and it was fun to visit with our delightful, fellow guests and Ben. They serve a nice selection of cheese, crackers and wine. There is also a no-host full bar if you want a cocktail. The charge for the cocktails is reasonable. The breakfast is expansive with waffles with fresh berries and quite a few other toppings. A variety of breads, cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, beverages and more is available until about 10:30 am. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio seating area where they roast S'Mores from 7-9pm in the fire pit. They also rent paddle boards and have bikes. It is close to Tahoe's Pope Beach and on the edge of the Tahoe National Forest. They main doggie relief area is great and attractive. It is spotlessly clean. There is a game room with table top games, a bookshelf full of board games, books and DVD's. There is also a lovely sun room with a spa. This is a VERY pet friendly B&B but even if I didn't have a dog, I would still stay at Fireside Lodge whenever I visit Lake Tahoe.

Floralei S.

Yelp
It's a cozy lodge with great customer service. Rooms are clean and tastefully decorated with mountain / lake decor. Breakfast, happy hour wine and night time s'mores are included. A truly relaxing experience and quiet surroundings.

Yelp
Fireside Lodge was the perfect venue for our 50th Wedding Anniversary event. The Lodge provided us with the space and all the amenities our family needed to help us celebrate our important milestone. Steve, Tracy, Olivia and Eric were outstanding hosts and made sure we had the best experience possible. The breakfast was delicious, smores around the firepit at night, biking and the close proximity to the beach made it the best place for us to stay. We highly recommend Fireside Lodge for anyone looking for a "home away from home." Be assured, our next trip to Lake Tahoe and will definitely include a stay at Fireside Lodge. Yelp
Beautiful little hotel run by wonderful people, needs new bed very small rooms but very pet friendly

Yelp
This is my favorite place to stay in South Lake Tahoe. For anyone with dogs or children, it's in the perfect location. I walked my dog to Kiva Beach, Pope Beach and Taylor Creek, using the paved path just down the street and the views were spectacular. The owners are incredibly friendly, and also very dog friendly. Too many amenites to name, but the homemade waffle was a highlight. Also, the room was spotless. If you enjoy the outdoors, this is the place to stay.

Russ P.

Yelp
This place is incredible. Huge shout out to the friendly team running this piece of heaven. We could not have enjoyed our stay more. Thank you for the amazing hospitality and food. The snow was an added bonus. Only 5 miles from town tucked away with the national forest as its backdrop. Just love this place!

Belen M.

Yelp
What a great experience! My husband and I stayed for a few nights in room #5 Big Blue, and it was great. The staff were all fantastic, The room/bed was comfortable, and had extras like a kitchenette with plates, utensils, microwave and mini fridge. The grounds itself had great amenities. Plus the lodge is only ten rooms, so you can pretty much park outside your room. The area is just on the edge of the national forest, so you have close access to the bike trail and it is a very quiet area. Pet friendly place! ( Note, that the owners/staff have pets that are around during the day in the common areas, if that's a concern for you!) Staff were great, and I was appreciative of the tour of the facility when we arrived. It was like staying with a friend and having them introduce you to the in's and out's of their home. We didn't participate in all of the amenities, but we did have breakfast on site one morning (As of mid august 2021, they were signing folks up for breakfast times and serving, to observe social distancing spacing, which is appreciated.), and one evening we came out and played corn hole and enjoyed an adult beverage and relaxed on the benches. My husband also had a go at some of the arcade games, which he was very excited about! The room itself was a great size and had great decorations. I loved the sitting table in the room (1 table, 2 chairs), and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was smaller, and the sink didn't have a huge counter space, but with the table and the kitchenette we made the space work. I loved the little details of this place, included a brown hand towel to wipe your face/makeup. The one downside of the room, but honestly not enough to take away stars, was that there was no AC unit. Which, for us being from the central valley is pretty standard, but if you keep the windows open at night, you will get a nice breeze! The location, as mentioned earlier is on the edge of the national forest. I loved being so close to the bike/running trail. I got my morning run in early, and just followed the trail out. You are just a few minutes drive from Pope Beach, Emerald Bay, and downtown South Lake Tahoe. Being at the state line, you can easily cross over to Nevada to go to Hard Rock Casino or Harrah's, but there are plenty of restaurants and night life on the California side too. Thank you Steve and Tracy for a great stay, we can't wait to come back. We left just before the fires started getting pretty bad up that way, and we are praying you all are safe throughout this very scary time.

Michael T.

Yelp
Well, after two or three stays it's time to add my voice to the 5 star chorus for Fireside Lodge! I'm honestly not sure how I haven't written a review for this fantastic lodge yet, but I'm glad I noticed and am sharing now because everyone needs to know just how wonderful a place this is to stay. We've stayed here in both the winter and fall, and both times of year are just lovely. The Lodge offers several rooms that all have that classic cabin vibe and a unique theme in the decor. The last time we visited we stayed in one that even had its own fireplace and the room was big enough for us to pop up our dog kennel too! Yes. PET FRIENDLY! They have a beautiful outdoor seating area with fire pits, and at night they offer guests everything they need to make smores. They also have a happy hour and even an honor bar too! The breakfast in the morning is top notch as well, with the build your own waffle bar of your dreams! I distinctly recall making a coconut smores waffle in the morning! They also have a few sleds and other snow gear you can borrow for the day and they'll point you in the right direction to use it. The Lodge is close to everything in South Lake Tahoe and a short drive from Emerald Bay with some fantastic restaurants right nearby too. Make this the next place you stay in Tahoe and thank me later!

Yelp
I will never stay anywhere ever again in Tahoe. No more air BBs, no more casinos we have found a gem! We had a wonderful stay for 4 days and 3 nights and lucked out on a sunny April weekend in South Lake. We were able to check in a little early after a long drive from the Bay Area, with a heads up of course, and they were happy to take us, we just had to wait for our cookies to be done I would have never known anyone else was there. It was quiet, low key, inviting and right next to the forest. The happy hour was our favorite and I loved our room. We stayed in the Bear's Den. One of the larger rooms. Very homey, loved the fireplace, the hot water, and a million pillows and comfy blankets and sheets on the beds. Both nice and firm and cozy. The great staff is really what made this trip. They keep the place so clean and updated and the perfect amount of updated amenities in our room and lodge. I always felt welcome and that I could ask for anything. Olivia even helped my friend with a sewing kit who wasn't even stay there. They fixed her shirt and we all chatted while enjoying happy hour beers. I ready to book another room to experience them all. Thank-you fireside! We will be back

Yelp
We've fallen in love with the Fireside Lodge! We've stayed there twice so far... and pretty certain it will remain our "go to" place when visiting so South Lake Tahoe! The rooms are so unique...each one has their own decor! All the amenities... kitchenette , microwave, cable TV, wifi, etc and the very best feature... DOG FRIENDLY!! We take our dog with us whenever possible and Fireside Lodge welcomes our furry friends! Great staff... free breakfast every morning, nice Happy Hour in their cozy room open to all guests! Wine and beer available 24/7....this place definitely deserves the "5 Star" rating!

Samantha H.

Yelp
5 Stars, no hesitation! We had a "bear"y good time in Room #9 The Bears Den! Thank you, Steve and Tracy for welcoming and hosting us for a wonderful family weekend getaway! There are so many great reasons to stay here (in no particular order): - Steve and Tracy are so friendly and fantastic hosts. We're a shy group that tends to stick to ourselves and we found both of them to be welcoming but not smothering. This was the first bed & breakfast we've ever stayed in (largely due to our introverted tendencies), and we felt so comfortable here! - Free bike rentals! The Huffy bikes are in good condition, have a basket for your personal items, a water bottle holder, and a cell phone holder - Free kayak rentals! - Happy Hour from 5-7pm with wine, cheese, dried fruit, crackers -- gluten free crackers too! - S'mores from 7-9pm! Relax around the outdoor fire pit in the evening with provided sticks, marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate bars - Freshly prepared breakfast! The waffle options are amazing, and they offer gluten free waffles which are delicious! - Themed rooms! The Bears Den was fully decorated with black bear motif and was super cute. Sink and shower were ADA-friendly - Self-serve hot chocolate/cappuccino/mocha machine - DVDs and books available to borrow - Dry sauna - Perfect location. 15 minutes from the casinos, bike riding path, nearby beach. No negatives! We look forward to staying here again!

Mar G.

Yelp
Really cute place. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. They even had games for the kids and smores at night. We would definitely stay there again.

Lisa S.

Yelp
The only place we love staying in when in Tahoe. It's our third time staying out the fireside lodge. The rooms are clean! Cozy! are stocked with everything that you need. They have a really cute game room with arcade machines, coloring books, puzzles, movies etc... the breakfast is amazing! Waffles, bagels, hot chocolate (whipcream and sprinkles included) cereal, fruit, boiled eggs, coffee... a lot to choose from. They have a happy hour with complimentary wine, s'mores by the fire every evening. The owners are amazing! It's such a gem in Tahoe... I always reccomend this place to our family and friends... we love all the amenities and always look forward to staying here. Thank you for always going above & beyond for your customers! Your dedication & kindness is very much appreciated!

Trudi T.

Yelp
I love the lodge, how accommodating and loving they are to my dogs!! I enjoy my stay here whenever I come to Tahoe.

Mike M.

Yelp
Really cozy lodge. People are awesome and friendly. Service is spectacular! Have a really tasty breakfast waffle bar.

Mel P.

Yelp
So far, I'm in love with this place. It's unique, simple, clean, and gives traditional "lodge" vibes. Seems to be family run and so many cute amenities. We chose to stay in Tahoe and extra day/night so we booked this little gem at the last minute and we are super happy we did. My daughter LOVES LOVES LOVES everything about this place. We got caught up in the snowstorm so this place was covered in snow which was great because my daughter had fun just playing in the empty parking lot snow. She also enjoyed the free popcorn available in the lodge. She's also super excited to make her own complementary waffles during breakfast and add sprinkles (available at the lodge)! We brought our pup, Charlie, with us and he was happy to receive his own welcome bag of treats, a blanket, and his own towel, lucky boy. Now, I'm just waiting to enjoy the complementary Happy Hour and s'mores by the fire pit time!

Allison C.

Yelp
What a fabulous find! Perfect location if you're looking to be on the "outdoorsey" part of South Lake Tahoe. Close to amazing hikes, Emerald Bay, Camp Richardson and beaches! We could ride the bikes they provided everywhere. The staff/family was so friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect for our family of four (the kids loved the bunk bed!) and the breakfast pancakes were a huge hit! Such a cozy stay-fire pit, s'mores and friendly pups to pet. We loved it.

Mary H.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to stay in Emerald Bay Lake Tahoe. From the levers to the rooms and the lodge, we loved it. I was there with our grandson and my son in laws mom, taking our grandson skiing for his birthday. We had a two bedroom with a little kitchen and just loved the decor. It was so cozy and cute! I just have to bring hubby here soon!

Ariel J.

Yelp
We have been obsessed with this place since we first came across it. Traveling with not one, but TWO pitbull mixes, is often times incredibly difficult for us to find a place to stay at a reasonable price, as there is still a strong discrimination with our favorite breed. Fireside Lodge made our lives so much easier and we never want to stay anywhere else! We had high expectations for this motel and they surpassed it in every way possible. This is a CUTE motel at the border of South Lake Tahoe: it's quiet and calm. Cafés, convenience stores, and restaurants are all 3 minutes down the block. The Bijou dog park (which is surprisingly BUSY in the winter) is 10 minutes away. The Shops at Heavenly are an easy 15 minutes away. Everything you need is in a small, easily accessible radius. You never need to worry about parking. You have a spot right in front of your room, which makes loading and unloading the car EASY, especially in the snow. We stayed in Big Blue (#5) for two nights. The decor is cozy. The bathroom, though small, is very clean and modern. The gas fireplace kept us warm. The view from our back window was beautiful. We spent a good amount of time staring off into the winter wonderland outside our window! The amenities: the vintage arcade is super cool. Each game is only 25¢ and my pups enjoyed watching us play skeeball! We stopped by for happy hour (5pm to 7pm) on our first night, and we helped ourselves to a nice sample of complimentary wine, cheese, crackers, and salami. Our pups Luna and Sylvie had a BLAST with the Lodge Dogs Moo-Moo and Max.... Every time we walked passed the door to the lodge afterwards.... Our dogs would stop by the door hoping to have another round of playtime! S'mores (7pm to 9pm) by the outside fire pit definitely brought back some childhood memories. At 15°F, we still had a great time toasting some marshmallows. The breakfast (8am to 10am) was so yummy! Making our own waffles a bit intimidating at first, but Fireside made it easy with pre-mixed batter and easy to follow instructions. However, you're on your own when it comes to deciding your toppings, there's just too many to chose from! If we had to rate the customer service, we would give it a 12 out of 10. Easily. Everyone was so warm, welcoming, and helpful. All the staff has amazing chemistry that makes our stay even better. They even helped keep an eye on our crazy pups while we enjoyed game time in the arcade along with breakfast! We never want to stay anywhere else in South Lake Tahoe except for HERE. We just checked out this morning, and can't wait for our next stay.

Cynthia S.

Yelp
Service: outstanding and super friendly! Environment: safe, quiet and fun Rooms: clean with very comfortable beds. Cozy on a super cold weather ( cold snap - 7 degree weather with ice and snow). Love the gas fireplace. Room had a nice large table and chairs. Great for having dinner or playing games. Loved the Bear theme decorations. Dog friendly: Dogs allowed for a small fee (35.00). A dog dish and water bowl available in the room with a mat. Nice touch! Dogs greeted like another family member! Over all stay: comfortable, feels safe, quiet. Offers breakfast in am. Always has coffee and snacks available. Outdoor fireplace with s'mores at night! I would recommend this place and will visit again in the future.

Mikaela G.

Yelp
I stayed at the Fireside, and the worker Ben was awesome. I also made his specialty waffle in the morning and it was amazing. Great family owned lodge and atmosphere !!

Steph G.

Yelp
We absolutely love this bed & breakfast lodge! Family owned & ran, quant & peaceful, super clean & so welcoming to our family of 4 humans & 1 Pitty mix! They not only are dog friendly, they totally tend to your dog your whole stay. I can't recommend any other place here in South Tahoe! We used to stay at the casinos but not anymore, this is our home away from home. Thank you Fireside Lodge!!

Bruce S.

Yelp
We just got back from staying at the Fireside Lodge for the last couple of days and we will definitely be back. The hosts were super friendly and the room (#4) was amazing for my small family of 3. The gas fireplace kept us real toasty despite the overnight temps going into the teens. I really have no complaints about this place at all. Everything was great and we cannot wait for our next stay here.

Joel B.

Yelp
We've been going up there for about 5 years. Steve and company have always done a great job, They are so friendly! We try and get room 1 (the Moose Lodge) just because it is our favorite, but any room is excellent. Built in the early 1900's, the place is just amazing. Also just enough off the beaten path so that the area us relatively uncrowded, but close enough to goings on that it is not much of a drive. Hopefully we will visit again! Joel and Kathy.

Robin B.

Yelp
Let me start by saying Ben is awesome! The Fireside Lodge is a true gem tucked next to a National Forest. While most hotels are taking away amenities, the Fireside Lodge creatively gives you all you could ask for and more; wine & cheese, breakfast, bikes, paddle boards and s'mores. We were actually leaving Lake Tahoe when our SUV broke down. Luckily they had a room for us during the week for our unexpected stay. We booked the room with Ben and it could not have been a more comforting place to stay after our grueling day. The next morning during breakfast we mentioned to Ben the details of our car issues. By the end of breakfast Ben was actually under the hood of our Range Rover tweaking our repair, filling our suspension with air and giving us the confidence we needed to make it safely home. He even offered to drive and pick us up if the SUV went down again! Talk about going above and beyond! We could not be more grateful for his help and assistance. Thank you Ben! The FL is a family owned business with a lot of heart and good people. We will definitely be back but next time without the car repair!

Jaynee M.

Yelp
Highly recommended! It was a great experience and memories for our family. We really loved to take our food at the lodge for dinner, because it gives us a homey vibe. The DIY breakfast is cool too, another one of a kind experience, experiencing it outside your home. The staff are amazing and very approachable.

Victoria A.

Yelp
This review is a little late but I cannot say enough good things about this place! They were so friendly and made sure we felt at home. Such a cozy place to stay and at a good price! The check in and check out process was so easy and their dogs are the cutest. We will definitely be back. Thanks again guys!!

Amy M.

Yelp
Really enjoyed staying here with my husband after our wedding! They have great customer service. Love the warm energy of everyone at this lodge :)

Yelp
We just returned from 2 terrific nights at the Fireside Lodge while visiting our daughter working nearby. South Lake Tahoe is not filled w/luxurious or super-service oriented spots to stay; most are older or quasi-renovated former roadside motels. The Fireside is one of those (traditional lodge feel & decor), but with the most wonderful human touch. Upon check-in we were offered a tour...the pride of ownership & attention to every sweet detail was immediately evident. From an awesome breakfast set-up to nightly firepit s'mores to DVD's (every room has a player) to cruiser bikes to a meditation/sauna room, there's a conscious effort to make every stay a full & fun one. The rooms themselves are clean w/comfy beds & updated, stocked bathrooms. There's a kitchenette w/mini-fridge, dishes, etc. The location & access to national forest trails, etc. can't be beat. Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. So yes, we'd highly recommend this property...it's a real treat to stay somewhere these days where folks care so much about your experience, & try so hard to make it as enjoyable as possible.

Susana M.

Yelp
My family had a cozy and comfortable stay at the Fireside Lodge. The Lodge was really clean which was a welcomed relief after all the Covid Restrictions. It was well maintained with incredible attention to detail. We loved the kitschy log cabin feel -- just what you want when you are in Tahoe. Complimentary bikes, a great outdoor space to relax, a game room and s'mores in the evening make this place hard to beat. The best perk is their location. Turn right out of the property and you are within minutes of all the beauty South Lake Tahoe has to offer. Turn left and amazing restaurants and shops are within reach. We'll be making our stay at Fireside a yearly tradition. It's a gem!

Mcp P.

Yelp
Loved this place! They have a very homey, unique feel! the room is spacious and they have a common area with friendly dogs and games and complimentary snacks! it was like a hallmark Christmas movie! I love that they are family run and put lots of detail and effort in! service was great! I'm telling everyone about this place! We will definitely be back. The moose lodge was so cute!

Mia W.

Yelp
I stayed at the Fireside Lodge for 2 days with my Nana and my puppy. Compliments to the guy who checked us in. He was friendly, welcoming, informative and a true assett to the lodge. We reserved the Bears Den. The room was clean, charming and cozy. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. However, I was put off when I found a string of white hair on my pillow that was definitely not mine. The bathroom was clean. They provide plenty of towels, soaps, shampoos and lotions. Breakfast was good. They offer waffles with numerous topping options, cereals, pastries, coffee, tea and an array of juices. This is where my dissatisfaction begins: I walked down to the office/lounge for the complimentary wine and cheese offered between 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. I arrived around 5:45 p.m. From the moment I walked into the room, the woman working at the front desk gave me a cold, unwelcoming stare. I surveyed the room and quickly saw the complimentary wine and cheese area. There were only a few crackers and 3 pieces of sliced cheese left. The white wine bottle was completely empty. The red wine had literally a few drops left. I also noticed some teenagers lurking around the beverage area and helping themselves to the complimentary wine. Slightly disappointed, I decided to walk around and take pictures. I wanted to enjoy all the amenities the resort offered. I strolled into the relaxation room first and I noticed the front desk girl watching me. It's a lovely room but the bed could use some cleaning. It was full of hair and dirt. The front desk girl followed me into the relaxation room and asked me very abruptly if I was a guest there. I thought her tone was extremely impolite and abrasive. Regardless, I answered her and said "yes, I am". She then asked me what room I was in. Once again, I answered her question as politely as possible despite having that strange feeling that I was being singled out because I am an ethnic minority. She returned to the front desk and I resumed my exploration of the other rooms. Again, I saw her peering through the rooms from the front desk watching me closely. When I dissappeared from her sight, she got up from her chair to watch me in the next room. And then proceeded to follow me into the next room after that. By the third room, I confronted her and asked her; "Are you following me? Do you ask every single person that walks in here if they are staying here and what room they are in and then follow them around?" She froze and did not answer me. She just gave me a dirty look and walked away. WTH! The employee chose to look the other way, even though the teenagers were drinking. It's irresponsible, not to mention illegal to offer alcohol in the vicinity of minors without adult supervison. I chose the Fireside Lodge to relax and have a wonderful experience. I didn't sign up to stay here to get harassed by their employee. The way I was treated that evening made me feel uncomfortable, unwelcomed, singled out and discriminated against. For this reason, I will not be coming back...

Yelp
Stressed out and freaked out from our stay in Lava Hot Springs, ID - we needed to accelerate our itinerary and get out of that place heading back to California. Tamara and Nick are the MOST incredible hosts EVER! From the first moment we laid eyes on the Fireside Lodge, all of our stress melted away in this incredible dog friendly lodge. Did I mention dog-friendly? We loved that there were well-behaved dogs to greet us, leash free in this Covid-19 safe place! The tour Tamara provided, from the happy hour, s'mores bar, bicycles, fire pit, custom ordered breakfast, and overall warm hospitality was the perfect antidote! Beautifully appointed rooms with fireplace, ceiling fans, windows that opened, hardwood floors, spacious bathroom, and mini kitchen with sink was a welcomed sight for our sore eyes and body from driving on our epic road trip. On top of the bed were some towels and topper, cookies, poop bag and welcome note for our beagle boy, Charlie Brown! So incredibly sweet! Underneath the sink, we found dog bowls and mat, in case we needed it and yes, we did! Charlie loved sleeping underneath the cozy crawl space below the fireplace - - it was a perfect stay, altho' too short. I will definitely come back and stay, much longer on our next trek! Thanks to Tamara and Nick for the warm welcome and sharing stories of where to soak in the best hot pools!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Fireside Lodge for three nights leading into Memorial Day weekend and we absolutely enjoyed our stay. The owners, Steve and Tracy really made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the place. Our room was very well kept and comfortable and we loved their complimentary breakfast, specifically the homemade waffles with all the delicious add-ons. We also had the pleasure of meeting their daughter, Olivia and her adorable puppy dog, Leo as they were just a complete joy to be around. It was great seeing the other dogs play with one another and just lounge around with the guests. The location of the Fireside Lodge which is on the edge of the national Forest is conveniently located within 15 minutes (driving distance) from the beautiful Emerald Bay on one end and the Heavenly Village which is located downtown. Check out was a breeze with the help from their son, Nick and his significant other, Tam as they also assisted us with their selection of great merch that we picked out before hitting the road. Just incredible service all around along with the housekeeping staff, Michelle and Alicia. We highly recommend staying at the Fireside Lodge if you plan to make a trip out to South Lake Tahoe! Special thanks to Steve, Tracy, Olivia, Nick and Tam for the amazing hospitality. We hope to see you all again the next time we're in town!

Yelp
From the first moment of arriving I felt at home in the cozy atmosphere of this lodge. I cannot imagine a more perfect place to spend a weekend in South Tahoe! Location: The location is perfect for visiting the Desolation Wilderness area - it is one of the last properties before the national forest land begins. There are trails leading directly from the property into the national forest land. Property: The rooms are themed and merrily decorated (we stayed in the moose room!) and contain a fireplace that warms up the rooms. Each room contains kitchen basics such as dishes, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, and several other extras (even a small slow cooker). The staff here is so welcome and friendly; they are happy to offer advice on activities in the area. Amenities: The lodge has several amenities that make staying there even better - breakfast (currently served off a menu, they are famous for their waffles), full access to their kitchen, happy hour with wine & charcuterie boards, a s'mores station & fire pit, large movie collection, books, games, dry sauna in an adult relaxation room, and even a room with vintage arcade games (you can plan to win tickets that can be exchanged for prizes). Bonus: They are dog friendly - there were a couple dogs on the property belonging to workers and our room had doggy food/water bowls.

Yelp
Thank you Nick and Tamera for their wonderful hospitality. The service was excellent all the way from checking in with the tour to checking out. You can always find at least one of them during office hours. Note some amenities and hours may vary depending on the season so it's best to double check. For example, at the end of March, no bikes were available to borrow, the hammock / picnic area was closed, and the s'mores time was 6-8pm instead of 7-9pm that others reviewers mentioned. The complementary breakfast was great and you can keep on ordering until you're full. The hot chocolate available throughout the day was delicious too. The game room kept the kids entertained and they were able to redeem their skee-ball tickets for prizes. Our room faced the main road, but you could barely hear any car noise at night. During these Covid times, the only thing to improve on is to enforce mask wearing inside the common areas. There's a sign by the front door that says masks are required inside except when dining. The hosts were always wearing masks and there were a couple of hand sanitizing dispensers, but I saw a couple times where guests did not have masks on and they were not eating. But next time we visit, that should be a non issue because there will be no virus to worry about.

Yelp
On our last stop on our road trip, we decided to visit South Lake Tahoe. My parents use to bring us up here when we were small so it has some special memories for me. Much has changed, but the Fireside Lodge is still here, so looking for somewhere unique and special, I reserved the Mountain Retreat room which is the largest of all the rooms. Michael met us and gave us the tour. We love that it's dog friendly and Cako wasn't the only one there. The room had two rooms, a small kitchenette, comfy Murphy bed in the front, queen bed in bedroom. We took advantage of the evening drinks on the first night since we'd been driving most of the day, great wine and snacks. The honor bar could've been dangerous...maybe next time...LOL! The Belgion waffles in the morning were great! It was all help yourself! They even have bikes for use, and a hammock! The space is very peaceful! I like that it's far away from all the hustle and bustle of central Tahoe. Nights are peaceful and so quiet. Cako even got a welcome pack! The Fireside is really something special! You do feel at home and the other guests are friendly! One of the staff, Tonya, and I had a great conversation about San Jose. We both went to the same middle school and high school, and she shopped at the Miller's Outpost I use to work at. Small world! I met Steve on the morning we left and couldn't compliment the Fireside enough. I can't wait to return! Cako Approves!

Yelp
The Fireside Lodge is very nostalgia with every corner of this cozy lodge reminding me of my childhood visits to South Tahoe!! It all started with a warm welcome by Steve and Tracey who immediately felt like family! We checked in 12 days after reopening, due to COVID 19 closure, and they didn't miss a beat with following safety precautions between their thorough cleaning procedures down to social distance precautions while still making us feel like we had free range!! Being able to socialize with the owners as well as other lodge guest (including 4 legged furry friends) around the fire pit made it very refreshing on our souls ;) We can't wait to come back for a visit and stay a while, this time with our husky!

Yelp
Cute theme. Nice owners. Super clean. We have been wanting to go to fireside lodge for a few years now. Finally got to spend our 25th Anniversary here. Very dog friendly. Quiet family resort. Rooms are small but comfortable. We will go back. Looking at the website I wish I would have ordered a romance type add on to make the trip feel more special to us. But stay here. You won't be disappointed

Yelp
I stayed here with my boyfriend over the New Year holiday. We loved every moment of our stay! Our room was cozy and the fireplace warmed up the room very well with below zero temps at night. We stayed in the True West room and it had many thoughtful touches. I loved the waffle breakfast, happy hour, and evening s'mores. Everything felt so relaxed and it was perfect for a winter vacation. Beyond that, getting to know everyone at the lodge was one of our favorite parts. We really felt welcomed and as if were spending time with friends. We received some great recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. I'm already planning to come back for a stay in the summer!

Yelp
What can I say about a place that already has 5 stars. I booked this trip last minute based solely on yelp reviews and it was one of the best decisions of my life. This small cosy lodge gives you the winter wonderland feel. Everything about this lodge is very detailed but the best part about Fireside is the wonderful people who run it. Everyone we had a pleasure of meeting were extremely friendly and took care of us like family. This place deserves all the praises and more. I can't wait to go back to Fireside.

Yelp
Was excited to stay here. Then, the pandemic hit. I called for a refund, understanding that when I booked it said they would not issue a refund, but also hoping that they would understand that no one expected a worldwide pandemic to occur. Long story short, we got a legal team involved, and it wasn't until many phone calls later that they FINALLY begrudgingly issued us a refund. I understand that they have a business to run, but their response during this whole ordeal really turned me off. I found others here on YELP who also had the same experience as us.

Yelp
The fireside lodge has become a place my family has returned to yearly. My mom, nephews and I have made incredible memories while staying at the lodge and there is everything a kid and adult could ever wish for. My nephews literally said it was the best place they have ever been in their life and they said if they were asked to rate it from 1-10 they would give it a 1,001 rating. The owners are the nicest and most friendly hosts and they have thought of every detail; plus the breakfast is incredible. Thank you and see you next year

Yelp
Tracy , Steve , Nick and the entire crew made our 4th of July an unforgettable mini getaway and their friendly demeanor and small town vibe truly left us impressed and wanting to stay longer. This is a spot that will leave lasting memories and make you feel you're in a Hallmark movie set !! Well done gang !
