I enjoyed this place, didn't go into the fortress itself, but i was on top of it for a rest after walking around the area to enjoy the view and the music that was being played down by the pier. it was a majestic and lovely building to visit. The whole harbour and lighthouse are within the view, just be careful not to fall off thou

Located at the end of the old port, right in front of the lighthouse. It was part of a series of fortifications built by the Venetians in the late XVI century.

A star fortress with a beautiful view. However, there's not much of a building to see there.

The fortress on the northwest side of the old harbor of Chania was built by the Venetians against enemy threats and possible invasions. Cnstruction started around 1610.
There isn't much to see but tou can see the barracks. There is also lookout tower, which you can climb to get a great picture of the harbour or out to sea.
The Maritime Museum of Crete, is housed at the entrance of the Fortress.

Amazing view on Chania from the top viewpoint, otherwise very quick to walkthrough..the entrance is from the city not the parking lot, we spent 10 mins looking for it. 😅

Fortress works only from Monday to Friday until only 15:00, and during all weekends it is closed. Entrance is free 🤍
It will take You maximum 15 minutes to walk around the fortress, so it is worth to put this place in Your plan while visiting Chania 💚

Amazing due to its age, and pretty well curated. It's a fair distance from Chania, around 2 hours, although it's an interesting drive.
