On the Grid : Café Panini

"Café Panini is a pleasant café on the riverside, close to Szent István park. It is set in a Bauhaus building, where paninis and fine coffee are made and served, and where you can also drink Hungarian Wine. In good weather you can sit in the terrace to see the Danube." - Bianka Bujdosó

Pretty good environment. Very authentic Hungarian restaurant. The server looks kinda fierce but still maintained professionally welcoming. I just ordered appetiser: Dips’ mix-Jewish eggs. Hungarian style seasoned cottage cheese, comes with bread. And a Hungarian Lager for a late lunch.

Arrived fairly late in Budapest our first night and came across this local restaurant. It was near closing so vibes were quite quiet but looks like it would be a fun place on a busy Saturday night. Food was great, big portions and a few options for a vegetarian which was a good surprise. Would recommend for reasonably priced local food (much more expensive and worse quality in the city)

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Fabulous atmosphere, pianist, great service, awesome food. It's cosy and perhaps because we went on a Friday, every table was occupied so it may be worth booking. Would highly recommend.

Where to start?! Incredible food, one of the best meals I have had in a long time, the piano man added amazing atmosphere, and Regina our server for the evening was the most wonderful person who made us laugh so much! Thank you so much for a time, best birthday!

It was recommended to us – the food was tasty, and we really enjoyed the goulash. The waitress spoke perfect English, but she wasn’t the most cheerful or welcoming person. When we arrived, there was only one other table occupied, and during our entire stay, just two more people came in. It felt a bit strange – the place was open and operating, but there were no customers, and the atmosphere felt kind of lifeless.

Small restaurant with a very cozy atmosphere not far away from a trolleybus stop, easy accessible by metro. Very tasty food and beer, super nice waitress who spoke perfect english. Menu was also on English. Great portion size for a great price. Can highly recommend and will certainly visit again!

The perfect end to a wonderful time in Budapest! Our welcome was warm and friendly, and the decor is a delight for the curious amongst us. So much memorabilia from an age gone by that simply adds to the wonderful ambience. This is not just a meal out, this is an experience - and we were not even there on a Friday or Saturday night with the pianist! The food. Oh, my goodness, the food! I enjoyed the duck leg very much and my son enjoyed the chicken paprikash and Hungarian noodles... licking the plate clean it was so good! With a full bodied Hungarian Merlot, recommended by Támás - our host for the evening (who also taught me some more sounds and words of Hungarian!) this was a truly wonderful evening. The music playing softly in the background, a Somlói Galuska each to round off our meals and we were gift a truly enjoyable, full bodied experience of Hungarian food and hospitality. Being off the beaten track, away from the noisy streets of the tourist area, you really are immersing yourself into the restaurant experince. And it is an experience that should be on every visitors list of places to eat. I know if I lived in Budapest, this would very quickly become my go-to place to enjoy delicious food, great ambience and either invite friends to come with me or go alone to read or write. Not enough praise for Támás and the team. Thank you so luch for making our last evening so wonderful.

Wooow what a nice restaurant. So welcoming and beautifully decorated. There is a guy that plays piano there and he does it really really well. Asked him to play simon and garfunkel (bridge over troubled waters) and he mastered it. The food was very quickly prepared and excellent. If you are in this are you should most certainly visit this place as you will not be dissapointed. Thank you for making our evening very special.
