I had a lovely mid-afternoon lunch before my flight back home to Ontario. My server was friendly, kind and had a great sense of humour. The food was delicious. I accidentally left my new rain coat on the back of my chair and didn’t realize it until I landed in Ontario. I emailed the restaurant and they had my coat and sent it back to me by FedEx. How is that for hospitality and amazing service!? Thanks to all the employees who helped me! A great heart-centered company! 💜

Firkins aren’t exactly my first choice but we decided to eat here at the airport before flying as this was dinner. We got the burger and the chicken sandwich. I enjoyed the burger a lot more than the chicken sandwich. The sandwich was a bit dry for my liking. Service was great - very friendly and accommodating.

Overpriced with okay service. I ordered the original burger with a side lobster tail because I was told it was larger portions and while the food looked okay, it was actually quite cooled. The portions were also very small for what I paid (~$47 before tip)! Seating wasn't super comfy either as the chairs sat very low and my table was wobbly. Definitely wish I would've chose somewhere else to eat for my layover

I recently found myself with an unexpected two-hour flight delay at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, and I'm so glad I chose to spend that time at Firkin & Flyer. This British-themed restaurant made the delay somewhat enjoyable and was a welcome escape from sitting at the gate. Despite being busy, the staff were incredibly friendly and efficient, ensuring I was comfortable and well-served throughout my extended stay. I opted for the fish and chips, and they were absolutely spot-on – perfectly crispy, flaky fish and delicious chips- it was the ideal comfort food to settle in with during my wait. They also have a good selection of local beers on tap, which is always a bonus. If you find yourself with time to kill at HFX, Firkin & Flyer is a great choice.

Honestly, a delightful airport meal. Surprised at the smooth, kind and quick service and the freshness of the fish and produce. Recommend the teriyaki salmon bowl.

I had the cedar planked salmon bowl and I was surprised by how good it was! Huge portion, really tasty salmon, and the vegetables were fresh and even dressed well! It was a perfect not-too-heavy dinner and really good for airport food!

Really enjoyed the food here. Got the donair egg rolls and a beef dip and both were tasty and fresh. The restaurant is comfortable and the service is fast and friendly.

I am incredibly happy to be writing this review, as I will definitely remember this restaurant the next time I have a connecting flight to Halifax. We were seated quickly, and the menu prices were about standard for an airport restaurant. But what really stood out to me was the incredible service from one waiter in particular: his name is Stamos. (I apologize if I butchered your name!) He checked up on us often, made sure we were satisfied with our dishes, and was just a great person overall. Prices aside, if I lived in Halifax, I would book a flight just to eat there again and experience that exceptional service I haven’t found anywhere else. The food was tasty, and the kids’ portions were very generous. I recommend getting the chicken and noodle soup and the spaghetti and meatballs if you have multiple people. All in all, this was hands down the best service I’ve ever received at any restaurant I’ve reviewed.

Yelp
Firkin and Flyer is a Bar/Grill English-style restaurant in the Halifax Stanfield airport. We were there for their dinner service. It has the standard bar fare like sandwiches, burgers, fish and chips, beers, etc. Order: - Fried Chicken Sandwich + green salad - Lobster Roll + Caesar salad - The Codfather + tatter tots - Old Fashioned Burger + Caesar salad The sandwiches and burgers were great, the cod-fish burger was fresh and flaky, the lobster was packed, the chicken was juicy, and old fashion hit the spot. All were served on soft pillow-y potato buns. The salads were a decent size, together with the burgers/sandwiches made a great dinner before the flight out of Halifax. Service was prompt and there was plenty of seating. The bar side had high stools in various table configurations of at least 2 dozen areas. The seat-down area was on the other side of the walkway and held at least 3 dozen tables. Both seating areas are open to the rest of the airport, so regular airport noise (announcements, people walking, etc.), but it is cordoned off so there isn't random patrons from other establishments sitting in the area. We were seated right away and orders were in within 15 min and the food out 15-20 min later. Definitely quick enough to get a bite in before any flight (or if you've had a delay).

Yelp
This was an excellent spot to hit before or even after your flight! The summer menu had amazing food pictures that we ended up ordered all our items from it. Lobster everything! And the lobster on everything was very nice and good portions/chunks of lobster. The cold lobster roll with that fresh lettuce was one of my favourite ones from the whole trip out East! Service was exceptionally fast and the waitress understood we had a flight to catch so she didn't doodle putting in our order and clearing the bill efficiently too. And the food did come out fast which was super appreciated considering this place was packed! Added in a Nine Locks brew which was a lovely beer while we enjoyed the cool decor. I'm glad we had time to hit this place before our flight.

Yelp
Got to the Halifax airport early, and this was the only sit down restaurant open at the time. There were fast food and coffee shops open, but that's not what we were looking for. I wasn't expecting much based on the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. They were serving breakfast only. I got "On the Dole" for $11, which was a great deal and a decent sized breakfast - 2 eggs, bacon, tater tots and multigrain toast with PB&J! Everything was yummy! Hubby got the breakfast tacos and said they were delish. Service is friendly and fast! The booths and chairs are super comfy. This is a solid breakfast choice when traveling through the Halifax airport.

Yelp
Wow. What a pleasant surprise. Quality, fresh food at non-airport prices! We enjoyed the nachos, lobster roll and fish sandwich and were not disappointed! Oh yea...friendly service also!

Yelp
If you're traveling out of Halifax Airport, not a bad spot to eat. They have lots of seating and it can get quite busy, but service is great. My friend and I both ordered the lobster roll with tater tots/fries and a Caesar. Decent sized portions and decent value for money, especially for something within an airport. They make the Caesar with either Maple or Habanero infused vodka (both made locally in NS) which gives it a unique spin especially if you like your Caesars spicy. Overall a good spot for a quick meal before your flight.

Yelp
Great food at good value. Try the Codfather sandwich. Outstanding service from the entire staff. So nice that I forgot that I was in an airport. Jesse was an excellent server!

Yelp
Food that doesn't suck and isn't grossly overpriced at an airport? This was a first for me, lol. What a pleasant surprise. I think this pub is part of the Firkin Pubs chain. My husband and I were waiting for our flight back home to Ottawa and we wanted to have something to eat and decided on the Firkin and Flyer. We both got the Lobster BLT ($20). My husband got his with kettle chips (his first choice was tater tots, but they had ran out), while I got mine with a garden salad, with the dressing on the side. I was thrilled when they brought out my plate and I saw that the garden salad was a real mesclun mix, with no iceberg or romaine in sight. Yay! It also had cucumbers and diced tomatoes. The dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette. The dressing was a bit oily, but I used just a tiny amount so it was ok. Vegetables were fresh. The Lobster BLT was delicious! It has real chunks of lobster mixed in a mayo sauce with crispy bacon slices, lettuce and tomatoes. I was so happy that the lobster sandwich did not have any fake crab filler mixed in. Yeah, I know, no self-respecting restaurant should ever serve a lobster roll with fake crab in it, but it happens all the time in Ottawa :( So $20 for a tasty lobster sandwich with a side salad with real lettuces and not "wannabee salad ingredients" like iceberg, at an airport? Wow! Service wasn't the friendliest or most attentive. I finished my water part way through the meal and placed the empty glass by the edge of the table for our server to see, and she walked by several times but did not refill it :( Her mission seemed to be to get people in and out as fast as possible. I guess in an airport environment, this is the name of the game. But whatever, I'm just glad that I didn't pay $20 for fake crab and iceberg lettuce, lol. Yeah, my expectations at airports are low, but now they have been elevated. The food and prices at the Firkin and Flyer are in line with what I would expect of a pub not in an airport. Thank you for not gouging us and not compromising on quality and quantity just because you have a captive audience at the airport (I'm looking at you, D'Arcy McGee's at the Ottawa airport!!). Thank you for being a regular Firkin Pub that just happens to be at the airport.

Yelp
I got the lobster poutine, I was a bit disappointed. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either. It was $25, service was pleasant and fast. French fries would have been better if they were the classic potato cut fries.

Yelp
wow ?!?!? I can not believe what just happens to me at this place!!!! Keeping in mind I fly semi regularly and part of my routine is to stop here and get a beer or two and enjoy a meal before I fly. I roll up to ask to be seated and was refused the right to sit in the comfortable chairs. and told because I was alone I would have to sit at the bar.....I explained I don't want to sit at the bar, not for two hours. and that there were dozens of seats open that I would prefer. was basically told too bad. so I went to the bar manager(s) and inquired. and they said the same. that they have a rotation to follow..... WTF?!?!?! F U Flyer and Firken say goodbye to my $50-$100 bucks every few weeks . The absolute worst service I've ever heard of!

Yelp
This is my first experience at this restaurant at the airport and I wasn't disappointed. Service was prompt and friendly. The location was well situated after security, near the bathrooms and ahead of the gates. I had the lobster BLT and it was tasty. I'm not a huge mayo fan, so I was a bit cautious, but it was fine. Friends had the Shepherd's Pie, Salmon Bowl, and another had a burger. We are a group who has very diverse tastes and they were able to satisfy us all. When I'm though the airport again, I've already decided that I'm having the Salmon Bowl! I'd recommend giving it a try!

Yelp
Meh. Nothing special for the price. Server wasn't especially friendly. Could be worse.

Yelp
Located in the departures level at YHZ. Pub style with good selection of sandwiches and pub fare, beers and signature cocktails. I always get the fish and chips, and a Bloody Caesar. Friendly staff and good COVID protocols in effect.

Yelp
Super busy but the crew amazingly keep up with it, big portion & pretty reasonable price for airport restaurants. Nice music too! Love it!
