I have stayed at several First Camp locations in Sweden over the past four years, and First Camp Orsa is one of them. One thing that stands out across many of these camps is that First Camp tries to take full advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings while keeping operational costs as low as possible. Unfortunately, this approach often comes at the expense of guest satisfaction, and Orsa is no exception. Some key issues I observed: 1. Dirty Facilities The toilets near the swimming pool area were consistently dirty and had a very unpleasant smell. This gives a poor first impression and raises concerns about overall hygiene. 2. Limited and Inadequate Food Options There is only one small kiosk near the swimming pool that serves very basic food – mostly just hot dogs or similar snacks. It’s not proper food, and the wait time is unacceptable – at least 45 minutes, largely because the number of visitors far exceeds the kiosk's capacity. Going outside the pool area to eat is not a good option either. The only real alternative is the bistro restaurant near the reception, but it also requires a long wait – often 45 minutes or more. Even if you manage to eat and return, re-entering the pool area is another hassle. You need to wait in line again as they count people in and out to control capacity. This process is very inefficient and frustrating for families, especially with kids. 3. Dirty Tables in the Restaurant The tables in the restaurant were often dirty and not cleaned between guests. This adds to the overall feeling of poor hygiene and lack of attention to customer comfort. 4. Understaffed and Inexperienced Team Almost all staff members appear to be young students working summer jobs – which is totally fine and understandable. However, they seem inexperienced, slow, and unfortunately, there are simply not enough of them to keep things running smoothly. This affects service quality across the board, from reception to food service to cleanliness. Recommendations for Improvement To enhance the guest experience and live up to the potential of the beautiful location, I strongly recommend the following actions: Improve cleanliness routines, especially in high-traffic areas like toilets and dining tables. Regular checks and cleaning schedules should be strictly followed. Expand food service capacity by increasing the number of food outlets or significantly improving the current kiosk's efficiency and menu quality. Consider inviting food trucks during peak season. Making agreements with food truck vendors to operate inside the facility during the summer could be a simple and cost-effective way to offer diverse and higher-quality food options to guests, without having to invest in permanent infrastructure. Streamline the swimming pool entrance process to avoid long queues. Consider timed entrance slots, online booking, or using wristbands to track capacity. Hire a more balanced mix of staff by including a few experienced team members who can train and support summer workers. Increase staffing levels during peak hours to reduce wait times and ensure smoother service. Train staff in basic customer service and hygiene standards to ensure consistency and professionalism. Conclusion While the location and natural beauty of First Camp Orsa are undeniable, the lack of proper management, cleanliness, food service, and staff training make the overall experience disappointing. I hope the company takes these issues seriously and invests more in guest experience – not just in nature and scenery.

Beautiful camping, Close to stores, restaurants and more! absolutely worth it :) only bad thing i have to say about the camping is - the cabins are overpriced, and the beds could be better to sleep in, and the pool area have no lockers to store your belongings safely while taking a swim. other than that, its a nice camping to visit :)

I spent many summer vacations here as a kid, decades ago. The place is the same today, although upgraded and modern. But it is still a family friendly, peaceful and wonderful place to spend your holidays.||All facilities is a short walk away, Orsa centrum is close by and Mora is just a short drive away, for rainy days when you want to do a bit of shopping.||For me, this camping site has everything I could want whether I stay in a caravan, a tent or in one of the cottages.||The only thing I would want to add, is a place to charge EV's. There is one charger in Orsa centrum, and several more in Mora. It would be nice to be able to park the car somewhere and charge it, even if it is a relatively small charger (home type charger is fine). Does not have to be at the cottage or within the premises - somewhere near the reception area would be just fine.||That being said, I think EV chargers will become more plentiful in Sweden in the coming years, so this might just solve itself. :)||||We stayed in a large cottage - from 1971 it turned out. Very well maintained, upgraded with a new kitchen. It was a perfect place for us, a family of four, to stay for well over a week. A full-size fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and all the kitchen utensils we needed. I could not want anything more, really.||||The best part is the beach, though. This is truly the Riviera right smack in the middle of Dalarna, Sweden! You have to walk a LONG way out into the lake, before a grown man can swim without hitting bottom. This makes the place really safe for small kids, even those who cannot swim.||A perfect place for them to learn this vital skill - safely and in an environment where they feel safe - deep enough to swim, shallow enough that they can just stand up and be waist-deep in water. In a large area! Not like a pool, where you have a few meters of "wiggle room" before it gets too deep or too shallow.||||Orsa Camping will for ever be my childhood paradise. It was a dream come true to take my family there and introduce them to the place - we will be back here! Coming back here after all those years, and it was the same feeling as I had as a kid.||||It felt like coming home.

The camping is nice. The outdoor area could be better. There is room for improvement. Playground area, Mini golf and common areas need a bit of maintenance and better cleanliness. The minigolf is old, kinda dirty and lack of maintenance. We had a good time anyway.
