First City Cheese Market

I had an appointment in Leavenworth, and when I was leaving, I saw a flyer from Leavenworth Main Street listing Leavenworth’s eateries. On the list was First City Cheese Market. In the listing, I read, gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches… of course I was hooked! I arrived shortly before lunch. I chose the FCCM, (4 Cheese) which had a delectable white cheddar, yellow cheddar, Parmesan, and Gruyère. On sourdough. The bread was crispy and buttery on the outside, soft on the inside and the cheese! My goodness! Look at the pictures. That’s all I can say. They served it with a potato salad that was perfectly dressed and hinted of bacon. Two of my favorite things in one meal. Bacon. Cheese. Wow! Let me tell you about the people working there. They have a really nice vibe. There’s a light conversation behind the counters as they work together. They’ve got great music playing. It felt really comfortable just sitting there by myself reading the news while I waited for sandwich. They also have kitchen utensils, sauces, mixes, etc. available. Overall, it’s just a great place to stop in, especially if you like grilled cheese!

Had a great experience for my first time being in the cheese market down town Leavenworth. Ryan has a great knowledge base of cheese and he is very friendly. Felt like a long time friend or family member. Very welcoming and we he was selling great Father’s Day baskets for a great price. Can wait for my husband to break off into this basket he will be in bbq spicy heaven.

We got a Mother’s Day cheese/charcuterie box over the weekend, and it was excellent! Delicious, a lot of items, and they accommodated dietary needs without any issues whatsoever! Highly recommend.

Amazing! Fun menu of pressed sandwiches, and gluten-free bread is available! Ready to be hungry again so I can get another sandwich!

Oh my goodness I ordered there lunch special mac and cheese bacon and tomatoe ( minus the tomatoe for me) sandwich with basile tomatoe soup...so good I will definitely be back

This is the second time we've stopped by and it has been so good both times. Today I got the Hawaiian pizza-which and Oh Goodness is it amazing! I can't wait to go back and try the other daily specials for the month. We took it to-go and the sandwich is still crispy when I finally got to my destination. Would definitely recommend!

My wife and I came here to get lunch yesterday. She got the Gobble Gobble and I got the Reuben, both sandwiches were amazing. My wife said it was the best panini she has ever had. That potato salad man, so good. Salted caramels, get some. The staff was quick to greet us and were extremely friendly. We will be coming back to try everything that we can! Thanks again for the great experience!

This place is amazing. If you’re in the area don’t miss it. Amazing selection and great customer service. The prices are also very reasonable. The picture shows a platter we got for my sister’s wedding. We only gave them a days notice and it was unreal good.

A staple of downtown Leavenworth, the First City Cheese Market serves a great selection of cheeses, deli style sandwiches, and seasonal items. Service is always spot on and prices are very reasonable.

This business has the BEST lunch specials!! Good food, service with a smile and kitchen gadget shopping while you wait for your chow. They also have lots of cheese varieties you can choose from.

A great local cheese shop with a wide selection and super knowledgeable staff! I learned quite a bit about the cheesemaking process and business during my visit, and the staff kindly helped me choose a few cheeses to bring home to enjoy. I'll definitely visit again as the cheese I picked out was delicious.

I'm from out of town, I live in California now, but I grew up in Leavenworth and I was so excited to see this shop. The owner and the workers there are so friendly and eager to help, the food is delicious and the Waffle Monte Cristo was the best I've ever had - anywhere in the US. I was also so thrilled about the quality of the cheese and I was able to bring it home to my girlfriend's family who is a HUGE fan of Longhorn Colby! Thank you!!

A wonderful and much needed addition to the City Of Leavenworth. Hannah the co- owner is very knowledgeable and so friendly and helpful to make suggestions. Did I mention free samples?!? They have a variety of items to compliment your cheese from crackers, jams, jellies and salami. They also serve lunch sandwiches which sound amazing. We had to come back later in the day to indulge! I had the FCCM Grilled Cheese that I think should be called "Toasted Heaven"!!! White cheddar, yellow cheddar, Parmesan and gruyere on thick sliced sour dough bread. I died and went to heaven for sure. I had the broccoli salad as one of my sides. Beware this is not your average broccoli salad. It has a kick. Not sure what is in it to cause the heat. It is a vinegar oil base . I wasn't very fond of it.

Who doesn't like grilled cheese?! What y'all don't know is the secret peanut butte marshmallow sandwich hiding out on the kids menu!!! Total game changer!

Food is good, we both had "roast beef explosion" sandwich, it had cheese and a sweetish horseradish spread on sourdough. I liked the sandwich but did not care for the potatoes salad. I thought it was a little expensive for lunch. The kids grilled cheese was a hit with my grandson. Staff is friendly and they sell specialty kitchen items and cheese/meat as well.

I love the cheese market. They have such yummy food. It's my favorite place to grab lunch. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. The store is always clean and inviting and with everything for your kitchen and more.

This is a must-stop in downtown Leavenworth! I initially came in as my best friend was ordering a charcuterie tray for her husband's promotion ceremony. We were able to taste different cheeses to make the decision of what she wanted on the tray which made the experience even better! The staff are all amazing, but the gentleman helping us and doing the tasting was fantastic! While we were there we decided to get the lunch special, because why not?! It came with a sandwich, drink and chips for 9.99. The special when we went in was the OMG Italian which was salami, pepperoni, mozzarella and provolone with an aioli. It really was OMG good, and more than worth every penny. We picked up the charcuterie tray the next day and it was AMAZING. I almost didn't want to eat off of it because of how amazing it looked, but let's be honest, after that tasting I KNEW how good everything would be! If you are in the mood for a little cheese board, a big cheese board, a delicious lunch, go here. It won't break the bank, and your tummy will absolutely be happy!

First City Cheese Market put together a Charcuterie Board for my daughters Bachelorette weekend. The board was a great addition to their celebration and my daughter said it was the best board she had ever had. We will definitely order again for our special occasions. We enjoy their lunch specials on a weekly basis, they are friendly and have amazing food. Love this place!

My son loves cheese and we loved picking up some fresh cheese flavors to try along with some cuts of meat as well! The gift shop up front is full of your favorite kitchen items for the aspiring cook or the advance chef! Who doesn't love cheese!!!

The owner and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, the cheese is excellent, the coffee is great, and the chocolate croissant was out of this world. Seriously. I hate croissants but tried a bite of my son's and it changed my view on croissants forever.

If you haven't tried one of the delectable sandwiches at first city cheese market you are sorely missing out! They put all the perfect touches on a classic sandwich to make it over-the-top delicious! Not to mention originals like the taco sandwich! Great service, additional selections of drinks and sides to accompany the meal round out a great experience! Love coming in to check out all the speciality kitchen items and gifts too!!

Just happened to stumble upon this place after buying some wine down the street and CAN'T say enough great things about it!!! We only went in to try and buy some cheese for the night, but my goodness, they offered a PHENOMENAL tasting of cheeses and I walked away with an entire BAG full! Not to mention, I'm flying back home tomorrow and they gave me advice on how to keep my cheese fresh for when I'm back home. Phenomenal service from (who I THINK is the manager or business owner) would DEFINITELY go back if I wasn't leaving!!!

I absolutely loved this cheese! The gentleman who helped us find a cheese for us was so helpful and had great information and tips for the use of the cheeses! The tasting was useful and every single cheese we tried was phenomenal. Highly recommend to everyone!

Went in on a whim after going to the farmer's market. Picked up some cheese curds and pickles for my kids, then an employee who was slicing chorizo handed me a slice to try. So rude! He knew if I ate it I wouldn't be able to resist buying some! We added a couple of ounces to our purchase and had a taste testing at the Leavenworth Landing nearby. We loved it! We will 100% be back for more!

Beautiful store! Great selection of cheese and lots of goodies to choose from including jellies from the Bean Patch. I was so excited when I found the ligonberries from Sweden, so good. The panini and soup lunch is amazing. They are doing curbside pickup also doing their part to keep us safe. Show them so love!

First impression? It's Rose Apothecary from Schitts Creek! So basically I'm going to move in there. Second impression? That's some good cheese. Just bougie enough but not horrifically overpriced. Only 4 stars bc they didn't have the specific type I was looking for, but honestly? I will be going there many many times in the future.

So I just moved here from San Diego and I'm a big foodie. I didn't expect much from this small town as far as options go, but to my surprise I found this restaurant. Me being me I had to try it out and wow hands-down was satisfied. The staff were not only friendly but helpful and the food is delicious. I don't give 5 stars often but for this place as far as quality and price I can say this is definitely a bookmark to come back.

We stopped in before a weekend trip to KC and was pleasantly surprised to find all of the nice choices of good cheese, sausages and crackers,too! We loved the red dragon with the mustard seeds that pop when eaten and the stilton was buttery with a smooth mouth feel and the corn crackers were crispy and crunchy with a sweet corn bite! All of the ladies were friendly and helpful with samples,too! Check it out!

Had the hammy Sammy special with lobster bisque. I was blown away! Both were absolutely fantastic. All for $10 can't be beat. The sandwich had such flavor and same with the bisque. Can't wait to eat here again

Nice little place! Love that they focus on area dairies! I also like that they charge by the ounce. Many of their cheeses are of the "crumble" variety, and all you need is a small chunk to enjoy. I would love to see a bigger selection of accompanying meats, such as prosciutto, parma ham, etc. Perfect location next to a wine shop!
