Art and Culture in Phoenix

"Home to impressive murals and art galleries, Roosevelt Row is known for its art and cultural events. This street has been around even before Arizona became a state, but it was a seedy, unsafe neighborhood until the late 1990s when artists found the former dilapidated buildings attractive for affordable studio space. The arts became the force behind the revitalization of the neighborhood, and today Roosevelt Row is one of the most vibrant cultural centers of the entire state. Roosevelt Row is best-known as the host for one of the nation’s largest self-guided art walks every first Friday, where local artists showcase their work." - MATADOR_NETWORK

First Friday is a great way to experience Phoenix! Amazing atmosphere, filled with great food and lots of vendors. There were a lot of cute stands with lots of handmade items. Portable restrooms were available. There was also free water, energy drinks, and samples! I took the light rail and would definitely recommend the same. The parking situation paired with the traffic makes taking the light rail the smartest thing to do. If you don't live near a station like I do, I would recommend park-n-ride. Definitely recommend coming here!

I love first Friday and it seems to be bigger and bigger every month! I have been coming ever since 2011, and it was just a handful of vendors. Now it's so packed you can barely move around without touching somebody else! I love it so many different types of art , drawings, paintings, jewlery and clothes of all types and styles, so many different talents, and music, dancing, break dancing, all type of styles. Dont forget all of the food vendors! My favorite is the Indian fry bread that's all different types of food and desserts ! Anything you want you can find there ! Plus it's fun just to people watch!

My Favorite thing to do the 1st Friday of EVERY MONTH, I have been going since 2011! It has grown tremendously I love it. Just discovered a brand new food joint that just opened last night, now one of my favorite places to eat! Owner is very polite and friendly.

Lots of great vendors. Some areas were a bit loud for the toddlers but loved every minute of it. It's a huge event with lots of vendors. We had amazing Carmel apples and fudge at the San Francisco Chocolate Factory.

Fun celebration with many hundreds of happy revelers. Bands and performers were plentiful with some corners hosting a few at the same time. Crowds of well behaved people of all ages moving through the festivities. There were numerous venues with wonderful spaces to enjoy the art, food, beverages, music, people, and April Fools Day.

First Friday is a wonderful place to share with your family. Great artist, a lot of vendors, and food truck row. There is always someone talented with their amazing music or creativity to inspire or ignite some talent in you. Have fun, it's a blast, get to know local artists and meet some amazing people. First Friday offers you a creative connection to your community.

Very crowded. I'm able to enjoy it much better now that I'm taking my meds. Otherwise the place is way too crowded and I can't even walk straight. It's such a cool experience every single first friday during the cooler months.
