I recently stayed at First Hotel Grand and have mixed feelings about the experience. On the positive side, the dining was truly exceptional—delicious food with attentive service. The hotel lobby was also a standout, offering a warm and welcoming ambiance that gave the impression of a high-standard establishment.
Unfortunately, the quality significantly dropped when I entered the most important part of any hotel stay—the room. For a hotel with a 4-star rating and such a reputable name, I expected better. The shower head was moldy and leaking, which was both unpleasant and unacceptable. The curtain in the room emitted an unpleasant smell, making the space feel old, neglected, and forgotten. If the intention was to create a vintage or aged theme, it should at least have been maintained and cleaned to a reasonable standard.
There were no drinking amenities in the room, such as a kettle or coffee maker, which would have been a basic expectation for a hotel of this level. However, the views in the morning were a redeeming feature—the sunrise was absolutely breathtaking and provided a moment of peace amidst the disappointments.
Overall, the hotel has potential, but the state of the rooms needs serious improvement to match the quality of the public spaces and dining experience. Until then, I’d hesitate to recommend it fully.
