I’ve purchased snowboard gear here over the years and had my equipment tuned multiple times, every experience has been absolutely top-notch. During the summer, I’ve also had my bike serviced here, and they have *äone of the best bike mechanics I’ve ever encountered. From full tune-ups to in-depth suspension rebuilds, his expertise is truly next level. It’s rare to find a shop these days with a mechanic who specializes in high-end suspension work and executes it flawlessly. First Stop Board Barn is a year-round stop for ski and snowboard gear, rentals, and tune-ups, as well as bike services and outdoor equipment like stand-up paddleboard rentals and sales. I've purchased many skis and have been in many ski shops over the years. First Stop went well above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for. I wanted to demo a few of the DPS skis, and it's hard to find a demo for one ski, let alone 3. I reached out to DPS and asked which VT shop would be the best place to look, and they referred 3 shops in Stowe (all of which I know, and one I have purchased from before), and First Stop in Killington. Last season I asked these 3 shops in Stowe to demo skis, and they simply said "we don't have that as a demo, but we will sell it to you." So I figured I would ask them early in the season if they could help me out, and in so many word they said no. I figured I'd try First Stop, and Randy said, "when you are ready to come by, give me a heads up and I'll get the DPS rep to bring what you are looking for." I assume the other shops could have done the same, buy Randy seems hard wired to try his best to get you on the ski you are looking for / need. The DPS rep was there when I got there to pick up the demo, and both the rep and Randy gave me a thorough tutorial on each of the skis, binding, phantom wax, etc. Over 2 days I demoed the 3 different DPS skis I wanted to check out, and each ride was completely different. Being able to demo each was exactly what I needed to do. And Randy took allot of time to talk to me about each ski, and help me zero in on the best option, (which I couldn't be more happy with). If you are going to spend allot of money on a ski, and have a few ideas in mind, CALL FS & RANDY !!

I officially bought my first snowboard and gear and I am beyond happy with the service. Max was above and beyond (truly amazing). Brought my family of 5 with 3 different levels of snowboard skills. The staff was great and accommodated each level with the correct gear! Family owned! We were stoked to be helped directly by the owner and his son Max. Went back later that week and purchased some gloves with plenty of help and advise from the other staff. We will definitely be going back anytime we’re in Killington area. Amazing gear and prices and service…… Couldn’t ask for anything better!!

Our family has a growing history with FS that started when our daughter bought a pair of ski boots there. She raved about their selection, knowledge and time they spent with her to get the perfect fit. After that my husband did the same and also raved about them. So naturally, when it came time for me to get my next pair of boots I never considered going anywhere else. They don't just make sure you get the right boot, they make sure it fits perfectly and do adjustments as it breaks in and seasons progress. And they give this same dedicated customer experience for every sport they provide gear for. My latest purchase there was for a pair of heated socks. I had done quote a bit of research and site reviews before going to FS yesterday and I was again, not disappointed. Max was again outstanding in explaining and offering the options. His personal experience with the products was also very helpful in my selection. We don't go anywhere else for outdoor sporting gear and we don't send our friends anywhere but First Stop too. You will never go wrong by being their customer!

Amazing experience at this ski shop! The owner is super friendly, patient, and really knows his stuff. The shop has everything you need—boards, boots, helmets, and tons of accessories. Everything is well-stocked with plenty of options. He also gave me great recommendations based on my level. Prices are fair, and the service is excellent. Highly recommended!

We bought snowboard boots there about a month ago, and that experience was great. But what really set them apart was the service a month later to see if the boots could be refitted after some discomfort with their use. Randy took the time to really evaluate the needs of my daughter, the rider. He explained various reasons why her foot shape may cause pain and worked to expand the boots in certain spots. He took a lot of time to make sure the fit was just right. In this day and age of home delivery and service through bots, it was so nice to experience a company that stands behind their product, even after the sale. Highly recommend!

Amazing staff, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Fast service and everything you need in one place. They have helped with multiple kid and adult bikes with various issues and we always leave smiling .

Once again, they batted it out of the ballpark. We came in with the family in tow to look at ski boots. Everything I said in my previous report is still valid. Except this time we had three members of the family bought boots. Every aspect of our experience was top notch. Max, the boot fitter, is an expert. As well as a personable individual. As well as a good salesman. The store is an emporium of anything related to skiing, boarding and cycling. They carry a huge selection of clothing and accessories too. Impressive place. Minutes away from the Skyeship Gondola. And hands down, about the best I've seen.

The best shop in Killington - honestly, one of the best stores in this whole world in terms of demonstrating quality customer service. The Elles Family that runs this store is down to earth and consummate professionals who know the craft and ins and outs of quality boot fitting, quality recommendations for ski and snowboard equipment, and making sure you'r comfortable and ready to take on any mountain! I've purchased my most comfortable pair of boots ever from them! Seriously, no pain! I have two pairs of skis from them too. Given my success of boots, I've had another 4 friends go and get their fittings done there as well, and everyone has raved about the experience. This is the best spot in Killington and would recommend anyone coming here for all their winter sport needs.

I love this place! The consignment section allows me to buy gear, and still have money left over for a burger at the mtn. A well run, well designed shop with great staff!

One of the best experiences. We rented Skis/Snowboards all weekend ultimately leading to a purchase of a snowboard. The whole team was amazing and extremely helpful throughout the process. Shout out to Brian, the real MVP!

Hands down one of the best experiences I've had with rentals. They were incredibly accommodating, flexible, and helpful with my group (cabin trips can lead to rough mornings if y'all get what I mean ). I also want to give out a special shout out to Kyle, who was not only incredibly helpful for demoing skis, but also took time in his day off to help me the following day. I don't know what more you can ask for in a ski shop - fair prices, great selection, highly attentive, and you can feel the care. Definitely a return customer!

This was our second time getting rentals from this site and our experience this time was great! Max helped me with my board rentals and was extremely helpful, nice, and knowledgeable. As a beginner rider, he made me feel very comfortable and gave me lots of good tips for a fun day of boarding. You can tell max is very invested in his work and in the sport itself. Thanks Max!

Unexpected delight! My daughter and I were on our drive home to Manhattan still taking photos of the fall colors. My camera memory chip was full so we stopped into First Stop to see if they sold them. We met Randy who said they did not sell camera stuff. We needed NOTHING from this store, but it is so beautiful and fun to walk around. With Randy's help we managed to buy a bunch of items .. gloves, neck warmers etc. JUST WAIT a SECOND!! As we were leaving Randy asked us to wait for a minute... he comes back with a memory card from his own personal camera to see if it would work with my camera!!!! It didn't, but OMG we were AMAZED at the genuine kindness of Randy .. going out if his way to help a lady that randomly walked into his store. EVERYONE needs to go to this place for your skiing / sports needs!!! Ask for Randy!! THANK YOU RANDY!

Without a doubt the most genuinely helpful staff at a ski/snowboard shop I have ever been to. I drove 45 minutes out of the way just based off of Yelp reviews and am super glad I did. Randy and Nicole helped me decide on a board, boots, and binding without coming off biased or pushy at all. They provided pros and cons of each product I was considering, took my skillset into account when making recommendations, and were very detail-oriented in setting up my board. They did not rush me at all, were very friendly, and took the time to make sure they were addressing what I wanted and more. They applied the 15% off discount to my bundle purchase without me bringing up the Yelp check-in. If you're questioning where to go, without a doubt - go here.

Best ski shop in the state. The staff is super helpful and friendly. They are extremely knowledgeable about the gear and can make recommendation based on your skill level / needs. I bought boots from another shop that were all wrong for me and they helped me get much, much better boots, mold the new boots to my feet, and consign the other boots. I made a mistake in going to a big ski shop to buy the boots the first time around. Much better to buy the boots at First Stop. Their prices are also very competitive - I couldn't find a better deal online for the boots and goggles I bought. Highly recommend this shop for skis, boots, tuning, and gear.

My daughter & I rented skis/boots for a week. Polite, knowledgeable service and fitting. I later in the week traded back my rental, bought boots & used skis (consignment) in excellent condition. Again, excellent service and fitting (molded footbeds, tried on several boots, no sales pressure, good selection). Very fair sale prices, w/partial $$ rental credit put toward purchase. I highly recommend this store and staff. Locally owned.

This place is amazing! My friends and I all rented skis here for a trip to Killington, Vermont. My skis fit perfectly and they had multiple different types of boots for the best fit. The service was excellent and friendly! The best part is that their prices are very affordable while still providing extremely high quality skis and service. Board Barn, I will be back!

Recently bought a mountain bike from Randy at First Stop in the middle of the COVID pandemic. Randy was extremely helpful and walked me through all of the available options both via email and over the phone since I was not able to go in person. He took the time to answer all of my questions and find the perfect bike for me. On top of that, Randy went above and beyond to deliver my bike to me along with some other gear I needed! He also spent time making sure I understood how everything worked and even checked in after my first few rides to make sure everything was working properly. I could not have had a better experience with the staff at First Stop and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for gear big or small!!

Stopped in here with my fiancé after a day of riding at Killington as she was in need of some new snowboard bindings. We received excellent service and care the entire time. Will helped us out and got her the perfect setup! His knowledge of both men's and women's snowboarding products really blew us away! He genuinely cared about getting her the right product for her needs and she's been stoked about it ever since. We really appreciate and respect his love of the sport and highly recommend this place and Will should you need anything board/ski related!!

$30/day bike rental, rented both last year and this year. Last year we ended up buying one of the bikes we rented! The other place in Killington cost $50/day for bike rentals, and we only wanted to bike a couple hours so this made a big difference. Nice bikes!

This time we were on the hunt for some split boarding supplies and accessories and once again we were not disappointed by First Stop Ski, Bike & Board Barn Snowboard Shop. They have a great selection of outer wear and everything to fit your cold weather needs from skis to snowboards to jackets and apparel they have you covered. From what I've experienced this is the only snowboard shop that had equipment for my boyfriends split board needs, in fact the workers were so knowledgeable about their products that this is the only place I would recommend someone to go to. They had a great deal of clothing and gear to choose from and I picked myself up a pretty cute coal hat. The staff here is willing to help you with any questions you may have and are super friendly and easy to talk to. Prices are super reasonable and the quality of what they sell is top notch.

Recently rented a snowboard and boots for my girlfriend from here. Great experience and pretty cheap for the excellent quality of the Burton board and Solomon boots. We were helped quickly, in and out in about 15 min with a reservation. The guy that help us with the gear was very knowledgeable, Wyatt, I believe was his name. Was very patient and understanding as I wanted to make sure the boots were comfortable. (He even recognized us at the bear lodge and asked how we were doing and chatted for a bit!) A really cool mom and pop ski shop not far from Killington Access road. 10/10 would use again

Forgot my ski pants and went in to reluctantly buy a pair. When i mentioned i was struggling justifying having to buy them, they told me they rent pants!!! BRILLIANT!!! And...... they were great pants and the folks there are so nice

It was wonderful working with First Stop Board Barn and Randy and Max. I was in charge of booking for a company/client trip and they were very flexible and willing to work with our group changes (as working with a large group there are constant adjustments and cancellations). They made sure that my group was taken care of and replied promptly to my million of emails! :) I was not able to physically attend the trip, but I got rave reviews from my colleagues how fun and kind they were at the fitting. Bonus points for them delivering rentals and equipment now. That is a game changer for us! It was a pleasure working with them and we will continue to work with them for future trips! Highly recommend!!!!

What stood out to me most about First Stop was the great customer service. We passed the shop on our way to Killington and figured we might as well stop in to check on rental prices. The man who helped me at the rental counter was super nice and knowledgeable. He got me set up with a beginner package since I hadn't been skiing in 8 years. I especially appreciated that he wasn't pretentious about me not being a pro. The other staff who helped me were very nice as well. The guy who got my boots was full of enthusiasm. Price: About $35 for the day for skis, boots, poles, and an equipment protection plan. Much cheaper than renting at the mountain. I also like that the equipment protection plan was only around $3. I think you get a discount if you rent for more than one day, plus check the bottom of the yelp page for an online reservation discount code. I was between 4 and 5 stars for this place but the very reasonable prices combined with the customer service put me at 5. This is a shop I would not hesitate to return to, and I would also recommend it to friends.

I stopped here based on a recommendation. Max was quick to help me. I told him I was looking at new snowboard boots and maybe a new snowboard. He helped me try on a few different brands of boots to give me an idea. A few days later I returned and tried on every snowboard boot they had there. Max helped me again and didn't rush me at all. He showed me the highlights of every boots. I spent a total of about 5 hours here and ended up with buying a pair of boots. The customer service here was great and very knowledgeable. I would recommend coming here to anyone that snowboards or skis. Prices are very reasonable, even compared to online prices.

Five stars all the way! We had an issue with our rental boots and the guys were extremely helpful in promptly resolving the issue (S/O to Max). They've been in business for 40 or so years and I credit their excellent customer service for making that milestone happen. We'll definitely be back!

Excellent service, super knowledgeable and helpful. They patiently and graciously helped our family of six get fitted and offer new, consignment or rental gear-- depending on our needs. Highly recommend! I needed a new pair of ski boots and was nervous about spending so much money and not getting exactly what I was looking for. Don't let the name deter you if you are a skier. The reviews were amazing so I gave it a chance and I am SO happy with my experience. Randy took such good care of me. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient. He spent time evaluating my feet. Then he brought out some boots. Based on my feedback, he brought out more. At one point, I had two different boots on my right and left foot and I didn't feel silly or rushed. I love my new ski boots. The price was very reasonable, too! This is absolutely the place I will be going from now on at Killington. And, it's family owned and operated! Go here for great customer service and knowledgeable staff.

The staff were incredibly helpful not only with answering questions about what equipment would be best for me but also helped with all of our skiing questions, local food joint recs, and more. William is such a kind man who took time to chat with me, explain my equipment and gave me an awesome upgrade that made my ski trip comfortable and fast!

Update: just got back from skiing last week in CO. Still stand by my review. So comfortable!

We purchased a bike from here,my son wasn't happy with the color,we live in ny, the owner told us to hold on to the bike until we were going back up, which wound up being two months later . Bill the owner exchanged the bike for us no questions asked, ive never seen such quality customer service, I have a happy boy. Thanks again Bill

Came all the way from PA to Ski Killington and didn't get into town until 5:30. My skis weren't waxed (totally my fault) but I asked them and Will said he would get them waxed and sharpened all at around 5:45 (the close at 6). Pretty awesome customer service!

Coming from New York, I find that this store has the best prices and merchandise. It's conveniently located right in Killington and honestly I have saved a lot of $$$ shopping with them after searching for the best fit, most affordable ski gear. The staff went above and beyond to help me find everything I needed and they carry alot of brand name items I was looking for. First Stop is the perfect name for this place b/c it's the first stop I make when I get to Killington to pick up everything I need for my ski weekend. 5 stars - as good as it gets!

My favorite ski and board shop in Killington ! Every time we come ski in killington we always make sure to make a stop here whether we need something or just browsing . Randy helped us today, my two friends needed new ski boots he was super knowledgeable patient and friendly !! They have a big selection too, one of the guys has super small feet so it's hard for him to buy boots , but he was able to find ones he loved and fitted ! My boots stretched out a bit from wear and tear so it was a tad big , so they were able to put some insoles in . feels like a brand new boot now. They also do have a small section for kids to play .. stuffed animals, lego blocks and toy cars . We spent about 2 hours here ( picking boots , fitting boots , heating up the boots , fitting insoles , doing bindings etc) and we got no complaints from the 4 year old. Do yourself a favor and stop by this mom and pop shop when you're in the area

I met Bill (the owner) while on holiday over the New Year's weekend. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. We went in to exchange my nephew's rental ski boots and I ended up buying a sweet 29er mt. bike. The shop has a lot of nooks and crannies with cool skiing and bike stuff everywhere. My nephew made his adjustments and was very happy with the attentive service. It is a great location on the other side of the mountain - go check it out and you won't be disappointed if you are looking for a Mom & Pop store that knows what they are doing -

I stop here at least once a season, to browse new ski goodies. Staff is awesome- super helpful and friendly. Plus their prices are great which is shocking given their proximity to Killington.

Worth it to go here for anything ski related! My first job was at a ski shop and I'm a snob about it--in the sense that I want really knowledgeable sales people that know their products and can tell me the differences between different items: This place is one of the best I've been to! My young friend needed rentals and was outfitted with high quality skis and boots that fit really well. We were helped personally by Randy- who I believe is one of the owners. Just a lovely man. Knew everything even the bells and whistles on the jackets my friend tried on. This is very impressive to me. The counter staff ( Brian) was also so friendly and welcoming. They have a large selection of ski/ snowboard accessories and clothing. It's only one mile from skyeship gondola and worth it. keep up the good work.

This shop has the best customer service of any ski shop I've ever been to. They were super helpful, thorough, patient and most of all friendly. Next time I'm in the area, this is without a doubt where I'm going to get gear.

A great ski shop which carries a bit of everything. We forgot bathing suits in the dead of winter and they didn't disappoint. Also the service was excellent. They were busy but still checked on us to make sure everything we needed was found. They have a great selection of high end and more affordable equipment. Something for everyone at a fair price, especially for Killington.

Go here for rentals or any ski/snowboard needs. I stopped by to check out boots and Randy spent about an hour with me and heat warmed 2 boots for me to try out. Ultimately I brought in my old boots and he put in superfeet and some material to prevent heel lift and saved me from buying new boots. I was never pressured to buy anything and I felt like they really cared about my boot fit instead of trying to unload merchandise. I am recommending this place to all of my friends or family who go to killington. You can go here and expect honest prices and excellent service

Another great experience at First Stop! Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating and the prices are hard to beat. The shop was actually a bit further than other shops than our house this year, however the decision to come was made before we even got to Killington. They treat their customers well and go the extra mile to provide good service; even stayed open a bit past closing because our train was delayed. This is why I keep coming back. Great people who care about providing an above-par experience.

Had used First Stop a number of times for random stop-ins for accessories (hats, warmers, etc.). Decided to stop by last February and see about demo skis just for the heck of it. After spending some time discussing various skis and styles and what I hoped for, I left with a pair of skis to check out. The skis were so great that not only did I buy them 3 days later, but I got my wife to demo'boots and skis which she then also bought. We got very good prices but mostly the service stood out. Everyone was warm and friendly and very knowledgeable. I recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality products and excellent services. Many thanks!

We were skiing at Killington this weekend. My boyfriend wanted to rent skis to check out the newer models, so we stopped here. The staff was helpful and friendly as soon as we walked into the store. Kyle was very knowledgeable with helping him with choosing what ski he should try. We left the store very happy. After skiing, my boyfriend had a couple of glitches with the skis (not a fault of the shop). When we returned to the store, Kyle was clearly concerned and wanted to make it right. We think that Kyle's reaction really showed that he really wants everyone's experience to be great. We plan to return to Killington, and plan to stop there again. We highly recommend this shop. It's great to find a place where you feel that people really care!!!!
